This place's quality has gone down throughout the years. I had the cold noodle with chicken and it was awful. No color. I.e. Vegetables. And sauce was soy sauce. There was no peanut flavor. They don't even try anymore. Service is poor with the waiters and the clientele has gone down by wayside. The chefs are just awful. I can't give this place any business anymore. Sinbala is really nothing special, but it's GOOD. They are famous for their sausage rice, but I'm not a huge fan, though I am totally intrigued by the sweet selections (sausage with chocolate?? During weekend lunch and dinner time, this place is packed. Write your name down on the clipboard, and wait. If you arrive when the restaurant opens, you can get a table fast. People also come here to have shave ice for dessert especially when it's hot outside. The shave ice is piled high with ice, brown sugar syrup and all the red beans, green beans, boba, etc are at the bottom. I like 8 treasure shave ice. Drinks... My favorites: mango, lychee slush. Watermelon milk. Royal milk slush with coffee jelly. Food... * Pork bamboo rice: chunks of stewed pork belly and bamboo over rice. Yum..yum...yummy! * Sausage rice: sauage is sweet and flavorful. Two vegetable side dishes comes with sausage and rice. mehhh. my friends seem to think this place is awesome, but in general, this restaurant is pretty average. i usually get the beef noodle soup and split an order of dumplings with my friend, and the price is pretty decent. service is probably better for mandarin speakers, as the staff is all native speakers. the sinbala sausage rice is what most people get, and its sort of hard to go wrong with that order, but its not very filling or exciting. read more

Stopped here while on a family trip, and its one of my favorite Taiwanese restaurants up to now. I ordered the house special sausage over rice. And the presentation reminded me of mama wang's cooking. The taste and looks of the dish felt so homey. The diced mixed veggies accompanied the sausage and rice very well. Every bite was addicting. What I had: Spicy wanton, beef stew noodle, wanton noodle, crispy chicken roll and turnip cake. This is a solid Taiwanese restaurant east side of the pacific. I am Taiwanese, borned there and migrated here 20-25 years ago and I have always been in the search of flavors I left behind. All of the dishes were solid. However still not quite the same as I remembered as a kid. At the time I am writing the review I cannot yet put my finger on it. Beef stew noodle: Yup beef was soft and flavored, noodle was average but the broth was slightly sweeter than to my liking. Wanton noodle: My second favorited dish. I am a noodles guy and I like the thin noodle in wanton noodle soup than the wider cut in beef stew. Crispy chicken roll & turnip cake. These two were my favorited. The sweet & spicy (not really spicy) sauce with the crunchy exterior of chicken roll was excellent. The soy paste garlic sauce that came with turnip cake was a nice touch. Spicy wanton: Everything about it is good except they had too much pepper powder. What distracted it from being a perfect dish wasn't it was too spicy from the pepper powder but the taste of the powder was overwhelming everything else. There's also whole pepper corn left in dish which distracted me from just enjoying it to also paying attention to avoid biting into one while scooping a mouthful of the green onion and cilantro that came with wantons. read more

Sinbala has been around for so long now. I've been coming here since high school! It is fast, cheap, and filling! They have a variety of Taiwanese dishes. It gets pretty packed during lunch hours. Everything here is pretty decent. It's a perfect place for a quick lunch. Everything on the menu comes out pretty quickly after you order. They have everything from rice dishes, noodles, dumplings, etc. I definitely keep coming back here for lunch but it's not something that I would wait for. The service is decent, just like any other chinese restaurant around the area. I would go early or late to avoid the lunch crowd. The food here is pretty authentic for the 626 region. I've been going to this place ever since they opened. The workers are friendly enough and the service is pretty okay for a asian restaurant. They used to be a lot busier a couple years ago. Their sausage rice and pork chip rice are big and filling. The spicy popcorn chicken has more garlic flavoring than any other place. You either love it or hate it. The shaved ice is on the traditional side and is a bit pricy. They charge you extra for condensed milk or it counts as one of the toppings. The place seems to be a mom and pop shop which I usually love going to and supporting. I got the gyro salad and that was pretty good, big portions for a cheap price. I also got this yogurt drink and that wasn't good. My fault for trying something new :P hahah. There seems to be plenty of seating so if you're craving this type of food, come here. Stopped in for a second time in 8 days. The first time we ordered the sausage and rice plate and a bowl of shrimp wanton soup. This time we went back with our kids because we thought they would like the food and we knew they had outside seating for our little guy, Watson. There was about 5 parties ahead of us, but because we requested outside seating for Watson, we were seated in less than 5 min.
