Pickled Cordia Seeds (破布子)used for seasoning of cod fish
Kwang C.

Now that Newleaf Bistro in Monterey Park is permanently closed and the manager, Monica, has moved to this restaurant, I'm here to support her with friends. It's still as delicious as ever! If you want a taste of authentic Taiwanese cuisine, I highly recommend these four dishes: Shredded Pork w/ Taiwan Makino Bamboo Shoot Satay Water Spinach w/ Beef Steamed Egg w/ Seafood & Spinach Stinky Tofu, Pork Blood Cake & Century Egg w/ Three Cups Sauce The Cod Fish w/ Mikiko Beans is so good that even the cilantro and scallion strips taste amazing. This is my first time trying pickled cordia seeds (破布子) used for seasoning; they have a very unique texture that you shouldn't miss. For something special, the Fried Sweet Taro Strips are delicious and a must-try. They work perfectly as either an appetizer or a dessert! Note: While the dishes taste good overall, my friend mentions a slight aftertaste of "old oil," and we both feel quite thirsty after heading home--perhaps there's a bit too much MSG.

I hear you! It's almost lunar new year and if you are like me, looking for authentic Taiwanese banquet courses, you are at the right place coming to Momo Bistro! The Chef Yang is exceptional for reserving the authenticity of many traditional Taiwanese cuisines, which typically take a lot of effort and time to prepare. The price is relatively inexpensive when compared to how difficult each dish requires. We were in the "not so private" private rooms where you can even sing karaoke if you like. However, I do hope that they could upgrade the room facility to provide more space and privacy. Otherwise, overall the quality of food and service is worth the price.

My family has been coming here for years. This is one of the more authentic Taiwanese restaurants in all of San Gabriel valley. I love their Taiwanese rice noodles, fried oysters, napa cabbage stew, steamed cod, stir fry veggies, stir fry firm tofu with pork, chicken roll and fried taro for dessert. Their fried rice and fried noodles are really good too! The ambiance is casual. They do have one private room for parties. Service was fine. Free parking lot outside.

Get into a nice Decor ambience VIP room, Server serve their food with explanation and bright smile! Not only every dish is delicious , the chef thought also create some vegetarian food for my vegetarian friend! Everybody enjoy the wonderful, delicious food with happiness, price is right! Chef is amazing

1) Honey Walnut Shrimp (核桃蝦) Battered shrimp tossed in a sweet, creamy mayonnaise-based sauce. The combination of crunchy walnuts and springy shrimp offered a signature sweet and savory flavor that we couldn't stop eating. 2) Shredded Pork with Taiwan Makin Bamboo Shoot (桂竹筍肉絲) Taiwanese 'Makin' (Makino) bamboo shoots are known for their slender shape and tender, crunchy texture. They had a natural sweetness and the 'forest' aroma of fresh bamboo. 3) Taiwan Fried Rice Noodles (台式炒米粉) Classic and simple. Nothing special.

I've ordered here several times during lunch and thought the food tasted good. However, I recently noticed I was charged $24 for a small takeout order of shredded pork with dried bean curd, even though the lunch menu lists it at $13. When I called to ask, the staff said there was no lunch pricing that day (it was a Tuesday) and couldn't clearly explain when lunch prices apply. I later saw on Yelp that their posted lunch menu says Monday-Friday, 11:00am-2:30pm. I realized I was consistently charged dinner prices even during lunch hours. Very disappointing and confusing. This is a very simple home-style stir-fry dish, and the portion was quite small. I honestly don't understand how they can justify charging a price comparable to what other restaurants charge for roast duck or free-range chicken.

Highly recommended. If you like Taiwanese cuisine, this would be the one for you. Every dish here is super tasty and we are so surprised that people are not lining up to eat here. Their smoked duck was excellent and goes great with beer. Their garlic fried water spinach was super tasty that I ate half of it by myself. But what I like the most is the service there, so friendly and attentive ... Just like old friends. They also sell frozen dumplings here if you are looking for some good dumpling! Don't forget to order their cold squid appetizer, unforgettable texture. Thanks and we will be back for sure. Can't wait.

I love this place. Every time when I am in LA. I would go to this place for the most authentic Taiwanese food in LA. They have everything! The service is excellent. The food is so yummy. Please check out my photos :-)

Stir fried TW lettuce

This spot is by far my favorite family-style Taiwanese restaurant in SGV/LA and has been approved by several of my Taiwanese friends as being authentic and delicious. Their three flavor sauteed chicken and basil was my favorite dish, delivered an amazing tasty complex sauce and flavor-packed basil that went well with rice, and contained delicious tender chicken (be careful with the chicken bones in this dish though!). My 2nd favorite dish was the stir fried TW lettuce as I was impressed how much flavor they were able to introduce into this vegetable. The sauteed bean curd with pork dish had excellent flavor as well. Excellent and attentive service for our table of 6 on a busy Sunday lunch. Lots of people here on a Sunday lunch which also indicates their delicious food. I can't remember the last time I had better Taiwanese food than this place!

They illegally block parking spaces
Ceejay D.

This establishment is a poor representation of Taiwanese food and criminally overpriced. Oh, and they also do petty ish things like block spaces for their "delivery truck". *Update: I seen them now block multiple spaces. I don't know why they have to do that since that place never gets busy.*

They also closed around 2pm this particular Saturday and that didn't coincide with the store hours. We did try the veg rice roll, curry pastry, egg omelette, mushroom/pork bun, and green onion pancake. There's a self serve sauce bar with chili oil, vinegar, etc. the food is authentic but nothing to write home about. I would like to return and try the mochi sometime

I was disappointed when we first got there because it was only 3 o'clock and they said that they were already out of the purple sticky rice for the item.I wanted to buy... They said they had it in white rice, so I thought, well, since we're already here, let's try it. The girl on TikTok said she wished she would've added an egg, but because we had a language barrier. I couldn't explain to her.I wanted a Fried egg,( I wanted it Wet) she gave me a hard boiled egg and it was an extra $2.50... I was pretty disappointed in this Salted white rice roll. Everything seemed old and soggy it was wrapped in plastic wrap, wasn't hot...and it was supposed to have a Chinese fried donut inside with a very crisp bite to it. It wasn't...it was soggy and flat...very chewy...And also The rice on the outside was not crispy/crunchy at all... Nothing really tasted fresh.... And that soy milk drink, everyone has their own preferences and tastes, but I did not like that soy drink at all... It tasted like wet hay/grass... And it was $4.95... she did ask me if I wanted it hot or cold....So I guess they serve a hot version, My son Bobby said that he liked the taste of it, but I noticed after the first couple of sips, he didn't drink anymore, I asked him did ne want it,he didn't...so i ended up throwing it away.... I also bought an order of the soup dumpling, And I was very disappointed in that because the dough that was around it was too thin, and when you picked it up it ripped, so you didn't get a soup dumpling. You just got a small piece of meat inside the dough. Because all of the juice dumped out when it ripped. Not a single one of them was lifted out onto the spoon, and the meat inside was a very small piece.I should've taken a picture of it , but I was just done with it... for $25.00 +tip I WONT BE BACK. I think i'm going to try the,'Yi Mei" in Monterey Park... I heard there's also one in San Gabriel. I hope I could find purple rice roll and all of its crispiness like that girl in the video , because this place was nothing like that!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND. ALSO I TOOK PICTURES ... of the little cakes and snacks that they had for sale on a counter. We didn't buy or try any of them.FYI

This one was good and the only thing I would come back for. They had various stuff dumplings. The pork dumplings were a little bland. The beef dumplings were good but were not out of this world. We had to ask for things more than once. They do have a self service sauce station for your dumplings sauces.

Nostalgia dish here was always their JiaoHuo JiaoHuo / Spicy Combination Marinade. We asked if we could change any of the choices, and were told yes as long as it is one of the items from the 5 included (Pig Ears, Bean Curd, Seaweed Knots, Beef Tripe, and Spicy Beef Tendon). Mom & I always add our own vinegar and chili oil to taste and it tastes just as I remembered. We also tried: -Half Tendon/Half Beef Noodle Soup, this was good. We took out the noodles so they wouldn't drain all the broth. Broth tastes good, and decent amount of beef. -Cucumber appetizer was okay, it's just salted. They use Persian cucumbers that were fresh & crunchy. -Shanghai Style Pan Fried Rice Cakes, this had good toppings but the rice cakes themselves didn't have the wok hei of the wok and were a bit dry. -Stinky Tofu (fried) is a skip for me. After my recent trip to Taipei again, the ones here were no bueno. It needs the pickled cabbage, and the garlic soy sauce. They weren't really stinky either. Service was a little slow with the lunch rush. One unisex bathroom available that was fairly clean. Plentiful parking in shared parking lot with the plaza. Grab a basket of the fried sesame scallion bread and get something saucy to dunk it in. Green Onion Sesame Pie: This prized basket of northern-style flatbread is probably what most people here are waiting for. The fried bread is cut into wedges with a crispy crackling exterior topped with fragrant sesame seeds. Inside, the bread layers are soft, pillowy, and bursting with green onions. Of course, it was the first thing that arrived, so we each voraciously ate a wedge on its own. Fish Filet with Bean Sauce: If you have enough self control, wait until they bring out the fish. The sauce is thick and savory. There's so much flavor from the minced garlic, fermented black beans, and scallions. The silky sauce seem to find a way into all the nooks and crannies of the stellar bread. Fried Red Yeast Pork Belly: The cooking technique of this dish is pretty cool. This is like a crispy char siu. The rich pork belly is marinated in red yeast rice wine for its aromatic flavor. It is coated in tapioca flour and then fried. The edges are crispy and kind of chewy while the meat is juicy and tender. Tofu Skin, Soy Beans, and Mustard Greens: The super thin tofu sheets and soy beans are a Shanghainese classic. With finely chopped mustard greens, the dish is a delightful study of textures: crunchy greens, chewy soy beans, and snappy from the tofu skin. The flavor is neutral and nourishing. I've had better as it was a little too salty. But this dish paired perfectly with everything else we ate. The highlight and unexpected stand out was the pork belly. I honestly didn't know what to expect when we ordered this dish. I thought it would be more like a braised dish. But man was I surprised. This is essentially char Siu that they batter like the Taiwanese pork chops. So you know this is a winning dish.
