SinBala - Arcadia SinBala is one of the rare Taiwanese restaurants that has stood the test of time. I grew up eating here. There used to be several locations across Southern California, and I'm glad the Arcadia location is still here. Every visit brings back memories. I come for the Taiwanese classics that are becoming harder to find. The popcorn chicken is still one of my favorites--crispy, fragrant, and seasoned the way Taiwanese street vendors do it. The Taiwanese meatball soup is comforting, and the Taiwanese sausage always reminds me of night markets back home. What I appreciate most is that SinBala doesn't just serve street food. It brings those familiar flavors into a warm, home-style setting. It's nostalgic without trying too hard. Before you leave, save room for dessert. Their shaved ice is a must. I always recommend the brown sugar shaved ice topped with five mochi or boba. It's refreshing, not overly sweet, and the perfect ending to a meal. Came for Taiwanese shaved ice. Honestly the only one in the area it seems doing it traditional style - shaved ice not show, lots of toppings. A bit sweeter than my preference but maybe cuz I put condensed milk on it as one of the toppings. The grass jelly shaped firm and nice cubes so possible it's from a can as opposed to in house. The service was quick and friendly, and the ambiance felt humble and warm. Portions are also very reasonable. I ordered the popcorn chicken, stir-fried A choy, and braised pork belly over rice. The dish came with sides of corn, tomato, and egg, as well as Taiwanese cabbage. I loved how balanced everything was. The pork was soft, flavorful, and super tender, with a great ratio of fat to meat. Of course, the popcorn chicken was also very well made--crispy, well-battered, and full of classic flavor. It's served with preserved veggies that are just the right sourness. Must order. We also order the Taiwanese Sinbala sausage with garlic slices. The sausages are so yummy. This is a great place for both food and dessert. For food, we got the sausage rice, fried pork chop rice, popcorn chicken, and a spicy beef noodle soup. My favorites here are the rice dishes. The rice dishes usually come with some egg and tomato, corn, and steamed cabbage. The sausage and fried pork chop were both good. The fried pork chop was boneless, tender, and not overly fried. The popcorn chicken was just ok. Some of the meat was a bit hard/dry and visually some pieces just did not look very appealing. I would skip this next time. The beef noodle soup was on the spicier side. The dish had two pieces of beef, some cabbage pieces but no other green veggies, and they use a thicker noodle. The broth is dark and flavorful. It was not bad but I prefer the rice dishes over this. For dessert, we got a custom shave ice that comes with 5 items. We picked lychee, red bean, taro balls, rice balls, and condensed milk. It comes in a big bowl so easy to share. It is also already topped with a brown sugar syrup so the condensed milk might not be necessary. I always enjoy getting one of these at the end of our meal! Located in a plaza with easily accessible free parking. Service is quick. Ambience is casual/basic and decent for an Asian restaurant (but keep your expectations low). What we got: scallion pancake (10/10 yums): I really liked how crispy the scallion pancakes were. They weren't too oily and I felt like they had a nice amount of flavor to them. shrimp wonton noodle soup with vermicelli (10/10 yums): As someone who really likes to drink soup, this was not too salty and I liked the wontons that were in it as well. It was a small piece of shrimp with some ground up pork. Overall, very good! boiled veggies (10/10 yums): honestly, my parents ordered this so I'm not too sure what kind of veggies they were, but they were part of the appetizer with the meat sauce on top. We opted to not have the meat sauce because my dad is vegetarian and it was still very good! vegetarian dumplings (10/10 yums): very good! I liked how the filling was a mixture of vermicelli and veggies. My only problem with this one was that the top of the dumpling skin was a little thick and wasn't cooked all the way through. veggie oyster omelette (10/10 yums): love how they have a vegetarian option of this! My wife and I stopped by La Sinbala to pick up a bento to-go before our flight out of Burbank and we had a 5 out of 5 experience. Believe it or not, but after placing our order, our food was ready in around five minutes! So fast! Even though we started eating our bentos 30 minutes later, the fried pork chop was still crispy. Flavor was spot on as well. The other bento we purchased -- with Taiwanese sausage, was perfect in every way: the sausage was juicy, sweet, chewy, and not greasy at all. The sides that came with the bento were other Taiwanese classics, like cabbage, corn, and tomato egg. $14 for a packed bento in 2025 is an absolute steal. I cannot recommend La Sinbala enough if you're looking for a delicious meal on the go, especially if you're craving Taiwanese food. read more

Beef noodle soup - soup was rich and had a kick but not overly spicy. Noodles were perfectly al dente. Definitely hit the spot for me. Leek and pork dumpling - it was juicy, flavorful and the skin had the perfect bite. All what I look for in a dumpling. 10/10 Taiwanese sausage plate - solid plate. I ordered to go on the phone the waiter didn't mention it to me that's CASH ONLY below $25. I purchased sausage rice about $17. And they don't let me use credit card so I have to went back to my car, luckily my friend has enough cash borrowed to me. And when I got home and check the bag they didn't even provide me a receipt which I thought the cashier would provide it in the bag because when I pay CASh they didn't ask me do I need a receipt. The important part it's not busy at all during the lunch time and I was the only customer there. They should not have excuses for too busy to forget to provide receipt for cash customer. Came here with a group of friends on a Saturday around 1 PM. Parking was easy plenty of spots in the plaza and the wait was surprisingly short, maybe 10 minutes max. The garlic sauce was absolute perfection aromatic, flavorful, and paired beautifully with the chewy noodles and just the right amount of sauce. Next up was the Oyster Omelette, which was tasty and cooked just right. We also ordered the Taiwanese Rice Sausage, and wow it instantly brought me back to my time in Taiwan. The last time I dined in, the service was okay. Food is still great and when I'm in the area I definitely consider stopping by. The increased prices for what I receive definitely makes me hesitate. I would have done a 4 star review, but with my most recent visit while ordering take out, I'm taking off a star. The restaurant accepts credit cards with a $30 minimum, however, what they fail to tell you is that they also ROUND UP with your charge. For example, if your total was $34 with some change, they'll be charging you $35. Although the price difference isn't huge, it should be mentioned to a customer. The hidden charge makes me lose trust in the restaurant. My total was $39 with some change and I was charged $40. The cashier asked if I wanted a receipt so I said yes to see how it was charged. The only receipt I got was the one that shows a charge of $40 as opposed to an itemized receipt. It's already weird with their prices being $15.38 (weird denomination) for a sausage rice. I'm not a fan of their credit card practices. I've read other reviews that mentioned being charged a flat rate too. I'm only assuming they round up to the dollar, but who knows how much they're actually charging as a surcharge when they already have a $30 minimum for credit card usage. read more

This restaurant brings back so many happy memories from decades ago. I remember coming here often during my college years with friends and we'll hang out til late at night. The food taste and quality remains the same, if not better, after all these years! I ordered my favorite dishes. The fried pork chop rice, fried chicken leg rice and the famous Sinbala taiwanese sausage. All the food is delicious including the side dishes (there are 3 side dishes included). The fried pork chop and fried chicken leg are all still crispy even though we brought these dishes home. Granted, they would taste better if we enjoy them at the restaurant. When I went here, the Eaton Fire is still going on and this restaurant is situated few miles south of the fire, but once it opened for dinner time at 4.30pm, a steady flow of customers kept coming in filling up one of the 2 dining rooms. This shows that this restaurant is very well-liked and the food is good. The staffs were courteous and offered me the to-go menu to look at while I was taking pictures of the menu one by one.
