If you think you know good organic food, think again. Some places feed you, but this spot tells a story on every plate. Without further ado, let's begin. Green Zone (est 2006) is a family owned Asian restaurant that offer a breadth of organic meal and drinks. Quiet music and soft lights welcome you at Green Zone. This organic spot in downtown Temple City promises a calm lunch with fresh healthy meal. Its interior table layout was evenly spacious with barrier shield in-between that provides privacy. I was looking for a healthy meal and GZ provided it. I was warmly welcomed by a young male staff. I sat down and ordered a hot Osmanthus Jasmine green tea and Grilled Organic Chicken Rice, well marinated with lemongrass and Asian herbs. The moment they served the food, I can smell its aroma. Food was very flavorful, tasty and tender. Hot drink was a good combo for a healthy meal. Their business operation: lunch hours 11:00 - 2:30 pm and re-opens at 4 pm till 9:00 pm. Prices seem reasonable. Service was spot on. Young Staff were attentive and respectful. Atmosphere was relaxing. Bathroom located at the rear end is clean and neat and odorless. Overall, I enjoyed their food, tea and service. I recommend you visit. And in the words of Douglas McArthur, "I shall return."
Green Zone has an array of healthy and delicious organic dishes. They have noodles and rice plates, and are known for their Hainan chicken. The dining room has transparent plexiglass shields by every other table, but it felt like I was sitting shoulder to shoulder by a stranger. Organic Hainan Chicken Rice: This is a solid plate of poached boneless chicken. While the chicken is tender, it's slightly dry due to the white meat. (Full disclosure: As a die hard fan of dark meat, they should provide an option for all dark or all white as many places do.) The organic and skinless meat has its health benefits. The sauces are really good. There's a thick, sweet soy for drizzling. The scallion ginger sauce is bold and zesty. The garlic chili sauce is sweet and tangy. The rice is fragrant and steamed with garlic and lemongrass. You have the choice of soup or salad. The soup has nori and tofu. Next Time: On my next visit, I want to try the Gyudon, a rice bowl with beef, onions, and a sunny side up egg. Parking: The huge lot has plenty of spaces and there's an underground garage to the side.
Greenzone is always a good meal and it doesn't feel greasy. My bf and I ordered the chicken curry and pork chop with rice. The chicken curry was tender and flavorful. The pork chop with rice was my favorite, the meat was juicy and not dried. It was grilled to perfection. I would def come back to order it again. I see why all the other tables were also ordering the pork chop with rice. The food here is always fresh and clean.
This place is located next to Mikiya Shabu. Their specialty is Hainanese Chicken Rice (I need to come back for that). The food came out fast and everything tasted delicious. The waiter is very helpful and friendly. There is a plexy glass in between table which is interesting but I don't really mind it considering the space.
We can here to Green Zone a few weeks back to use the SGV passport. The location is in the busy complex with Mikiya, Dive Oyster Bar and Summer Rolls. Parking here can be a pain, but there is an underground lot. Green Zone was pretty poppin' when we arrived on a weekend day. The staff that greeted us was friendly and had us seated in moments. I believe she might have been the owner. The My SGV passport redemption was for a BOGO free on an entree excluding the seafood ones. We decided on the Gyudon and The Beef Soba Noodles. Our waitress was kind the whole time and I believe was newer or in training. Our food didn't take too long to get to our table. My Gyudon was flavorful and delicious. The savory flavors reminded me a Beef Bowl from Yoshinoya but better beef. My wife's Soba noodles had light broth flavor and firm noodle texture. The menu itself is extensive and their entrees are advertised as healthier eating. I enjoyed the food here and would not mind returning to eat here again. :) Thanks, Green Zone! ( ^_^)b
I've passed by this spot many times and finally decided to give it a try. I ordered a combo noodle soup which was a cross between wonton noodle soup and dumpling noodle soup. The order arrived within 10 minutes. I think this is now my favorite wonton noodle, or wonton and dumpling noodle soup in SGV. The egg noodles were springy and bouncy with a nice eggy taste. The soup was clear and not too salty. The wontons were essentially filled with shrimp and the dumplings were a mix of meat and mushroom. They also included a generous amount of bok choy. All of this for just ~$13. Overall, cheap bowl but very delicious noodle soup. I've been looking for something like this for a long time and I'm glad to have come to this place. Apparently the rice dishes are even better and what they're known for. I'll be coming back to try other stuff on the menu
Came here for the first time and learned about this place on the SGV passport! Food: It's pretty good! I ordered the pork chops and my friend ordered the hainan chicken rice. Both were very flavorful and delicious. The pork chops were very tender. The sauces for the chicken were well made. Drinks: They have free tea in the front for their guests to drink! Service: The waiters were nice and attentive. They didn't hover over us while we were eating and brought everything on a timely basis. Parking: Free parking lot outside!! Just very packed though. Overall: I would come back! The meats were very tender. The salad was refreshing in the side. The rice was a little overcooked, but it was still good.
The grilled chicken is delicious and flavorful! Grilled pork chop was also tasty. The hainam chicken wasn't the best unfortunately. There was so much cartilage and gristle on the chicken, not appetizing or tasty. The ginger sauce was mostly oil, not much ginger or scallion flavor. There's many better hainam chicken places in SGV I would prefer.
Place is bigger than I thought it would be. They still have most of their plastic partitions up like the ones that were standard during Covid. They had some self serve tea in the lobby which I assume it more for while you're waiting for a table. I'm not going to fault this place cause the food wasn't my cup of tea. I think overall it was good, it's just I've had better. But hey maybe someone likes this flavor style more. We tried the appetizer sampler plate. It was a nice presentation and you got to try the more popular apps. The shrimp roll was lacking in shrimp. The salmon puff was ok but I prefer my salmon raw. The fried shrimp roll was again lacking in shrimp and i couldn't help but compare it to the one at President Thai which has crab and is much more satisfying. The chicken gyoza had egg in it. Not in an extra flavor and it's so good kinda way. More of a filler kinda way. We came for the hainan chicken rice and again I keep wanting to compare it to Savoy or Cluck 2 Go but it just wasn't the same. The chicken was good. The rice was good. It was good portion. After all those apps, I could only eat half. I was missing the soy sauce and the other traditional sauces. The only sauce I liked here was the scallion oil one. So again, the food wasn't bad. It just wasn't for me. The table next to us ordered the clam pasta and it looked delicious so I may come back to try other things.
Came to dine at green zone with the recommendation of the SGV FOOD passport while enjoying the BOGO deal using the passport so get to try 2 dishes in 1 sitting yay me The server is nice and friendly and that day they also have free tea tasting set up I picked the classic popular Hainan chicken that comes with a salad and satay beef with purple rice (add-on price for changing from white rice). The food was served super quick! Both the chicken and beef are tender and delicious. I prefer the satay chicken a little more probably cuz satay seems to make me wanna eat more rice than the Hainan chicken But overall, great food, great deal, and it's next to Sunmerry & meet fresh so perfect location for dining anytime
My husband and I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon. There were a lot of people already dining here, which was a good sign. We were greeted and sat right away. Green Zone is described to be an organic pan-asian cuisine. They blend Eastern cuisine with Western influences (this description is directly from their website). They have many tasty options. The one I opted for was the Beef Soba. Their soup base was one of the most delicious bases I've ever had. The broth was rich, savory and umami. The soba noodles had the perfect bite, the beef was tender, and the fried egg and nori elevated the dish that much more. My husband ordered the Gyudon, which is a rice dish served with beef and a sunny side up egg. It delivered in flavor, the rice was well-seasoned, the beef was tender, and the sunny side up egg was yolky in the middle. This dish is a good option if you don't want soup. Overall, I would come back. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this. This restaurant is located in a shopping center in Temple City. The parking lot can get busy. There were a few spots open when we arrived, but when we left people were circling a bit.
In general, a pretty decent experience -- well kept moderately clean interior a bit cramped, service is a bit inattentive. Had to ask multiple times for things Parking can be a pain so definitely go underground. Food flavorwise pretty good: the beef Suzuki in a pot very flavorful broth, Hainan chicken rice is pretty moist and good flavor as well, but not the best chicken I've ever had as per other reviews. Portions are just the right size and I get why people think the food feels more on the healthier side- not too much MSG or anything like that. Decent prices.
[Oct 30, 2025] SGV Passport for BOGO Entree The meal is hearty and fresh, but portion size is underwhelming. Foods are on the sweeter side, which is not really to my liking. Tasty Sampler ($11, 4.5/5): Comes in servings of 2, Pawn Tofu Wraps, Salmon Triangles, and Mini Shrimp Roll. Everything tasted great. The skin was cooked perfectly crispy, and it's satisfying bite size. My favorite was the shrimp rolls. I'd definitely order this again. Spicy Thai Basil Chicken w. Rice ($17.5, 4.5/5) & Spicy Thai Basil Seafood w/Rice ($23, 4.5/5): Seasoning is on point, portion size is filling. Beef Suiyaki w/Rice ($23.5, 3.5/5): The sauce was watery and sweet. The portion size can use some work. Scampi Pasta ($23, 4/5): Rich, sweet tomato sauce. Comes with 4 pieces of shrimp. I feel like there can be more sides. Hainan Chicken Rice ($16.5, 3/5): Honestly, the rice is great. But I didn't find myself enjoying the chicken or sauce. The teas were great. I had Rose Melange ($5) & Japanese Genmaicha ($5), both were fragrant.
When you want good healthy organic food this is definitely a spot to consider. The service is really great. They are kind, welcoming and will really give you their honest opinions on what their favorite dishes are. I noticed they used avocado oil and they really advertise they are all about that organic vibe. We got the hainan chicken and the grilled pork which was both really good. read more
I really owe this fantastic restaurant a review since the original location on valley is no more and I've eaten there dozens of times....this was the first time I sat inside this location to eat other times my work orders it for lunch hence that is where the mushroom salad comes in my pics.... The food here is organic and they use healthy oils to cook with...this place has fresh veggies and food and they cook with care for their customers... I got Grilled Veggies my friends all got Hainan Chicken....food was good and I will always come back here if I have a chance.... Restaurant is pretty normal and clean and the staff overall was good and attentive.... read more

We enjoyed Green Zone so much that we ended up coming back two weekends in a row! On our first visit, we ordered the Hainan chicken, satay beef with enoki mushrooms, and the sampler. Everything came out fresh and flavorful, and the sampler was a great way to try a little bit of everything. The following weekend, we came back for the pork chop rice and beef curry. The pork chop was tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. The beef curry was rich and comforting, with tender beef and plenty of vegetables that paired perfectly with the steamed rice. What stood out to us most was that the food was packed with flavor without feeling overly heavy or greasy. It felt like a wholesome, home-cooked meal that left us satisfied without feeling weighed down. Combined with the friendly service and quick seating, Green Zone has definitely earned a spot on our list of places to revisit. Looking forward to trying more of the menu! read more

I came here because theyre part of the SGV Passport and I wanted to get something off their menu for a rainy day. Im pleased to say that im very happy with their offerings and variety of both their food and drinks. I thought their portion was pretty good. I had a lot to take home even with just 1 entree and a drink. The staff was attentive to my needs, and even though I was just by myself, they still paid as much attention to me as with the larger tables. Although the space is quaint, the crowd comes and goes pretty quickly. The plaza where the space is shared has a lot of stores and although it doesnt look like there is a lot of parking, there is underground parking available - which is where i parked at the time. So dont worry if you couldnt find any, just look for a downward ramp which will reveal more spaces. read more

1) Taster's Sampler The presentation was beautiful and caught our eye. It pleased the table, and my friends liked it, butit was just okay for me. 2) Grilled Pork Chop with Rice This was the highlight of the meal. The pork chop was tender, highly flavorful, and portioned well. More rice would be better and prefect. 3) Dumpling Noodle Soup The dumplings themselves had a good texture and mouthfeel. However, the house soup base didn't seem as flavorful or high-quality as it used to be. 4) Live Clam with Angel Hair The clams were fresh and cooked well, but the accompanying sauce fell short. Like the soup, it wasn't quite as good as what I've had here in the past. read more

Haven't been hear for ages, but this has been the OG place of hainan chicken in the SGV area! I got the hainan chicken as usual, and honestly it's still just like how I remembered. Pretty solid, the chicken is a bit more thicker and juicier than other places I've tried. Their sauces could be better, I believe I enjoyed the sweet soy sauce one more. The scallions were pretty nice to have as well. The red(?) one was a bit lackluster. For the price of it, it's still pretty expensive for what it is, but I do like how the meal feels very clean. My favorite for hainan chicken is Ipoh, and I would still choose Ipoh haha. Although, this is a solid choice if it is more convenient. Service here was good! read more
I've passed by this plaza numerous times, but don't really shop or dine here. Recently, a colleague recommended Green Zone and their Hainan Chicken. So, I tried it out. Yum! They did not disappoint. I also enjoyed the soup that came with my order. My date ordered pork chops and he enjoyed it. I tried a bite and it was nicely seasoned. The establishment is clean and customer service is friendly and patient. This place probably fits better for parties of 1-4. The seating area doesn't look like it can accommodate for large parties. read more
Located in a busy plaza. The parking garage was pretty full on the weekend. Small and kinda cozy inside. It was easy to get seated, but can be a bit confusing with a lot of people standing around the front waiting for their takeout orders. We ordered the hainan chicken with salad, sweet yam fries, and the wonton noodle soup. All the food tasted fresh and definitely organic. Felt light and healthy. The hainan chicken was soft and not dry. The sauces weren't bad. I enjoy the hainan chicken much more from Savoy Kitchen though. The sauces there are better and salad. The wontons were yummy! However, the flat rice noodles left a bit to be desired. Broth was yummy though. Maybe egg noodles next time might make it more tasty. The sweet potato fries were awesome though. I would come back to try other items on the menu! Service can be a bit slow cause they are so busy! We never got our waters, but it's okay we didn't mind. My first visit to this new location ever since they moved from their old San Gabriel one many years ago! Definitely has the same vibes as that location, but in a much busier location that can get hectic especially during rush periods like dinner when I went. Their focus on health-conscious, organic, and deliciously packed dishes has not changed one bit since then. I got the beef sukiyaki with rice, and what a hearty meal it was! The portion was much bigger than I expected, piled high with plenty of juicy beef slices, scallions, and TONS of fresh veggies and mushrooms in the rich and savory broth. Bite after bite, I could taste the wholeness of the broth that was not laden with MSG at all. I was able to tackle it myself, but it's definitely worth sharing if you're with others. What was refreshing was feeling full, but not a heavy greasy feeling after. Speaks to how this place stands out in quality and freshness from so many other restaurants in the areas! First time visiting! Delicious organic food, lots of healthy options, friendly service with indoor seating. You can pay an extra $1.50 for food to be cooked with avocado oil. We LOVED everything we ordered: grilled pork chop rice, stir fried bak choy, chicken curry. It is a little expensive but worth it for organic food. The matcha latte was not worth the price. I asked for less ice but it still had a lot of ice & after the froth came down it was only 3/4 full. But overall a great experience & will definitely return to try more items on the menu. read more

Another wonderful dinner at Green Zone. You can never go wrong with their Hainan Chicken! Tender, flavorful, and balanced. Yum. Service here is awesome as always and they have some of the best brewed teas here. I do notice one small change. Their chili sauce is a lot thinner from what I remembered. I love Green Zone because they make our favorite Asian cuisine dishes with organic ingredients! Hainan chicken, grilled pork chop, dumplings, and more. Everything is reasonably priced (~$15-20 per dish) and tastes super fresh. I always leave feeling not-too-heavy and not-too-greasy. My personal favorite dish here is the Hainan chicken because they use organic chicken flavored with lemon grass, on top of a bed of seasoned rice. Parking on the main level of the lot can be difficult during prime eating hours, but there is a lot downstairs with plenty of spots. The service here is incredible and all of the employees are super nice. read more
I've been craving gyudon, so I ordered it here. As good as it was, I should've listened to the reviews and order the hainan chicken instead. I got lucky as my husband ordered it, so I was able to steal a couple bites. Oh man the flavors for that was great. The gyudon gave a good homey and comforting taste, but the hainan chicken reminds you why life is great. Highly recommend coming here to try the hainan chicken. Great spot for when you want to eat something simple. The Hainan chicken rice and grilled pork chop rice were both excellent and made with a lot of care/attention. The chicken was very fresh. The pork chop had excellent tenderness and I loved the marinade on it. read more
Got lunch here on a Saturday and there was quite a line, but we got seated quickly. I opted for the Hainan chicken rice ($16.50) and subbed rice for sautéed veggies (+$4.00). The chicken was cooked to perfection- sooo juicy and tender. I think it's one of the juiciest Hainan chicken I've had! The sauces on the side were very flavorful too; it comes with a sweet fish sauce, scallion oil, and sticky sweet soy sauce. The sautéed veggies were actually delicious too! You also get the option of either a side soup or salad. The salad is nice and refreshing; soup has a rich chicken bone flavor without excessive salt/msg. Green Zone is located within the corner plaza on Las Tunas and Rosemead. The restaurant may look small from the outside but it extends deep in and it was pretty full on a Sunday night around 8pm, so we decided to order take out. Taking the advice from our fellow Yelpers, we got the Organic Hainan Chicken Rice with Soup and the Curry Beef. Both were delicious! The Hainan chicken came with three dipping sauces - a more viscous soy sauce on the sweeter side, green onion with salt and oil, and the orange colored Hainan chicken sauce. The Hainan chicken was de-boned and very flavorful and juicy. It went well with the flavored rice. We both enjoyed it very much! The Curry Beef was also a hit. The curry was very flavorful with a tinge of spicy in it. It came with beef, carrots, zucchini, and eggplants. The beef was tender and the curry went well with the white rice. It was definitely a good choice! Overall, we would be back next time to dine in and try their other dishes. This is an Asian American type place which go for organic and "clean". DECOR - Asian American decor. The inside is kinda cramped and tables are fairly close to each other. They did put in panels to separate table so it's nice. Wish they are not clear though because the next table keep checking us out.. one less star for the inside. HAINAN CHICKEN - amazing. Will come back again for sure. Chicken was very flavorful, mostly all dark meat. Rice is also very fragrant not greasy. Definitely competitive among the ones in the area. Seaweed soup included is a bit bland but lots of ingredients and soothing. WONTON NOODLE - standard Overall the food felt clean, not greasy and not too salty. The Organic Hainan Chicken dusk is so good! Note that they use dark meat unless otherwise asked. The lemongrass rice is also yummy and quite light compared to other Hainan Chicken places. Comes with a side of either salad or miso soup. They have sauce on the side including garlic oil and oyster sauce (sweet and savory). read more
After craving some Hainan chicken, I remember thinking Green Zone has had some good chicken. That being said, it was at their old location. I had yet been to this one. The good news is that fortunately everything tasted the same as I remember. The chicken was delicious, especially when combined with any of the three sauces offered. The rice was fragrant. It's a simple meat that has roots with what commoners ate back in the day. Regardless, definitely brought me back to years ago when I first had it.
