This use to be another restaurant prior to this one but forgot the name. Either this one took over or they just rebranded. They redecorated and now it's much brighter inside. Located all the way in the back, right next to chubby cattle and plenty parking in the plaza. I saw there was a QR code to order but the nice lady came and took our order. I never tried mackerel dumplings before so I had to get that. It wasn't fishy at all. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't have known it's mackerel. The pork wontons were pretty small but delicious tasting and they weren't cheap with the amount of pieces they put in that bowl esp for the price. There's a self serve water station and it was hot af the day that we went. They should've cranked up the ac.

I'm always on the look out for new restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley. I've been eying Spring Dumplings in Rosemead for a while now. One day, I decided to come here for lunch with my family. The restaurant is quite small but also quite cozy. The air conditioning was ok, could have been stronger. The staff were very accommodating. My favorite item to get was the Chinese sausage steamed rice. The dish also included red onions and bell peppers which added a lot to the flavor of the dish. There was a generous portion of Chinese sausage. I also loved the seafood soup noodles with shacha sauce. The sauce was not too spicy and went well with the soup. The soup dumplings were ok, but solid. Same with the zhajiangmian. The steamed rice was my favorite part of the meal, and I would come back just for that.

IMO, the soup dumpling scene in SGV has been lacking lately. The new restaurants sell them for a premium and they might not even be very soupy, and the quality at staples like Mama Lu's has gone downhill over the past couple of years. But Spring Dumplings might have restored my faith in soup dumplings, because $11.99 for ten soup dumplings that are made to order and taste way better than Mama Lu's?! These are some of the best tasting, best value soup dumplings I've had in years. None of the skin ripped and there was plenty of hot soup. I got the pork and shrimp dumplings, and I liked how they didn't cut up the shrimp super fine and left it as a sizable chunk to retain its texture. I also got the Sha Xian dumplings, which I never had before, but saw this was a best seller and decided to go for it. It came with a peanut sauce which I found interesting. I didn't enjoy this as much as the soup dumpling, mainly because I didn't like the filling so much, but I did enjoy the texture from the skin. We also got the cold pig ear and Chinese broccoli, and we thought we were okay, but not something we'd repurchase. The broccoli was cooked well, but it was doused in too much oil. I mainly get pig ear because I like the chewy texture, but this wasn't quite it. Overall, I appreciate the lack of frills, because that's how you know the food is going to be delicious, but it did lack in some other areas. The water is a self-serve station, and I went on a hot day. Unfortunately, the ice in the ice chest was all melted, so I was left with room temperature water. At this point the only way to get a cold drink is to grab something from drink their fridge. The soup dumplings alone are the reason I'd come back. I'll have to explore the menu a bit more to find other things I'd enjoy, but this was a solid start.

Shaxian (southern chinese) style small local restaurant. Everything was very delicious and comforting. We got: - Potstickers are crispy and lightly salted. - Mackerel dumplings has the natural sweetness of the fish. Tastes like fish ball but in dumpling version! - The fragrant mixed sauce noodle is very peanuty and is big portion (can be shared) for only $6. Crazy price tbh. - The pork w/ shepherd's purse wonton soup has small wonton with very soft skin. The soup has seaweed and those salty microscopic shrimps, which makes the soup tastes like the sea. I couldn't stop drinking it. - Drinks are free and self-serve. They have water, wintermelon tea, and black tea. Overall, all the dishes were very comforting, I'm planning to come again to try their other dishes. The best part is, we got 5 dishes and the total only came to around $60!! The waitress who served us was also very polite and kept bowing to us :)

When I first went here, there were absolutely no reviews to this place but I decided why not let me try something new and uncharted before. The photos looked amazing so I just went in. I didn't realize that I came close to closing time, but the worker was so kind and so nice when I realize that I came in so late which was about 40 minutes before closing. She was so gracious about it, and while I was hurrying to eat, she came by and said that her manager is here and that the manager said that it was OK and to take my time. I still ate at the speed of light just so I could get out of there and not make them stay for too long, but I appreciated the kindness that they showed me. It was a brightly lit, clean location, no crazy vibes or anything, but just clean and simple, which was appreciated. For drinks, they have water and two other drinks available for free and it is self-serve. As for what I got, I didn't know what to get so I ended up getting a few things. I got the mackerel dumplings which were boiled, and I think I like them boiled more than any other way. 9/10. You have to actually like mackerel, which is a pretty fishy fish to enjoy this dish. I personally don't think it was that fishy compared to a grilled mackerel, but if you are sensitive to that kind of thing, maybe pick a different one. I got the wontons in a seaweed soup, which was quite delicious, Chinese broccoli and my favorite thing ever- the steamed fish filet. It was SO GOOD. I literally cannot wait to go back again, I believe that the steamed fish will be my hyper fixation meal for a while. Very flavorful, super soft, just everything that I absolutely love. I wish I could come here with more people just so I could have more things to eat, so I definitely brought all the food home and had a few meals out of it. I think that the price of the food is more than reasonable and the portions are generous, especially the boiled dumplings that I got. I can't wait to come back and try something new and get that fish again

I don't know how this place was open for a year with zero reviews. We found Spring Dumplings looking for Shanghai-style wontons -- the kind with the clear, lightly-seasoned broth and the dark green seaweed -- and we found exactly what we were looking for. Spring Dumplings is located on Valley Blvd, in the New Valley Plaza. This narrow shopping center is shoehorned between the large Empire Commercial Center (Banh Mi Che Cali , Shin Sen Gumi....) and the corner lot Lucky Plaza (McDonald's, Mr Dragon, Sam Woo BBQ....) New Valley Plaza is easy to miss; there's only one way in and one way out. The restaurant is easier to miss. It's not visible from Valley Blvd, and it's way in the back, away from Valley, next to Chubby Cattle. This is what we ordered: -- Pork with shepherd's purse wonton soup -- Scallion pancakes -- Garlic bok choy -- Mix sauce noodle w/ scallion oil -- Steamed sole fish Everything was well-prepared with a nice color. Other than the steamed fish, everything felt a tad restrained in the seasoning department, which is a good sign. Nothing felt like it overstayed their welcome on the palate (always better to add seasoning than wish the food wasn't so salty) so (theoretically) it's easy to eat a lot of each dish. The fish was flavored the strongest, with a flavorful soy-ginger sauce and was really good (beware of a few bones missed in the filleting) Overall we would go back there again. One weird omission on their menu was that they served XLB, but there weren't any pork xiaolongbao offered. On the menu, chicken XLB, shrimp & pork XLB, and crab roe & pork XLB, but normal pork XLB were absent, which is a shame because the pork fillings for the wontons were very good. The dining area is clean and well lit, and the service is pleasant. Spring Dumplings is definitely one of the places we'll keep in our Yelp to-go list

Food is very fresh & food quality is good too which is based on the price. Services is very nice. It is a small restaurant & very cozy.

My new place for dumplings and beef noodle soup. They have some other dishes that I haven't tried. Clean. Complimentary teas. Handmade noodles and dumplings. Tastes fresh and delicious. Great price points. Friendly too.

#28 steamed chicken with rice. Super salty, you can skip it!

Do they sell frozen dumplings?

Yes, they do. Last time I went, they didn't have a Frozen Dumpling menu, but you can ask them. Pork & Cabbage frozen dumplings (50pcs) were $22/bag and Frozen Fish Dumplings (24pcs) were $28/bag. There are other flavors/choices.

Each time I've gone or taken food to go, I feel massively dehydrated after that I get a headache if I don't drink enough water. Luckily the staff was pretty on top of refilling our waters, and they often switched out our plates for clean ones. We've been going for years, and they used to allow substitutions for the set menu. I had the Lunch Set C menu, which came with a full table's worth of food for about 5 people for $158. The service was top tier, and the waiters were attentive but not overbearing. The atmosphere makes you feel like you're in a high end Chinese restaurant. The ambiance is dark, but each table had its own bright lighting, so it didn't feel too dark. Now for the food, here are my thoughts. Snowflake Beef with Garlic - Came in an interesting box grill, and it was perfectly cooked. Medium-rare with a slightly crispy outside and a tender, soft inside. Very flavorful. (5/5) Array 35 Signature Roast Duck - Best duck I've had. Crispy skin, and the meat was so flavorful. It came with wraps, veggies, and hoisin sauce. This is a must get. (5/5) Cold Mixed Cucumber, Century Egg, Eggplant - This is an interesting dish, but I love century egg, and this was actually amazing. No weird taste at all. (5/5) Sliced Pork with Garlic Sauce - Tender meat in a nice, spicy sauce. It's delicious. (5/5) Braised Black Cod with Potato Starch Sheets - Perfectly cooked cod, and I really enjoyed the potato noodles. So good and flavorful. (5/5) Seasonal Steamed Dimsum - This was a veggie bao, and it was so good, especially for being vegetarian. (4.5/5) Homemade Shrimp Paste with Hotpot - A simple dish, but the flavors were good. It came in a steaming pot that kept everything warm. Delicious. (4.5/5) Stir Fried Seasonal Veggies - These were stir fried string beans, and they were good. Perfectly cooked and seasoned well. (4.5/5) Snow Fungus Pear Soup - A nice dessert that comes with the set. It came with 5 bowls and was super refreshing and tasty. (5/5) Normally, I have something to say about the food, but everything here was absolutely delicious. Yes, it's a pricey experience, but the ambiance, food, and service make it worth it for special occasions. Parking - They share a lot, which was pretty plentiful when I visited.

Named in reference to a Chinese proverb (which names 36 monumental moments that a person experiences in their lifetime), Array offers upscale pan-Chinese cuisine intended to match the grandeur of monumental events. Now, Array joins a select group of ultra-premium SGV Chinese restaurants, offering an eclectic set of labor-intensive dishes hailing from Shanghai to Chongqing. From the outside, Array has wavy, avant-garde cement walls and a red carpet leading up to the sturdy, cast-metal double doors. Enter the opulent lobby, featuring a recessed ceiling light projecting through a thin layer of water and an LED whale illuminating a ceiling-high fountain. Past the fountain, you'll find a dimly lit dining room with nature motifs intermittently protecting against the otherwise dark, cavernous atmosphere. In contrast, private rooms along the periphery are comfortably bright and individually themed. Close the doors, and you almost entirely block out the ambient chatter and moody instrumental. I visited Array for a friend's birthday celebration. Across our feast, some of the consensus favorites were the Shanghai-Style Smoked Fish with Preserved Plums (crispy, sweet, and savory all in one) and the Stewed Sliced Fish in Wine Sauce (featuring fresh filets tossed in a thick, rich rice wine sauce). I also enjoyed the flavorful Crispy Prawns in Plum Sauce and the Teppanyaki Drunken Pork Neck. The signature Roast Duck was a show and craft in itself, artfully flambeed in baiju and smoked at table side, then served with the traditional accoutrements of pancakes, duck sauce, Asian pear, and brown sugar. Other dishes were on the better side of standard, including the Mapo Tofu with Ground Pork, the Snow Pea Leaves Stir Fry with Garlic, and the Spicy Vermicelli Hotpot (with some noodles crisping up against the stone bowl). The signature Sous-Vide Sichuan-Style Beef Short Ribs was more memorable for the plethora of spices and sauces on the sides, rather than the actual meat. Lastly, some items were one-dimensional or forgettable, including the bone-heavy Sizzling Chicken Clay Pot and Steamed Fish Ginger and Scallions; the starchy Stir-Fried Japanese Yam, Wood Ear and Pumpkin; and the plain Braised Pork and Vegetable Rice. The prices leaned toward premium (appetizers and veggies are ~$20, entrees are $30-40, and signature items reach $100); the service failed to match the prices, as some of our dishes were forgotten, and beverages were rarely refilled. The best dishes were excellent, but most plates didn't exceed "standard" by too much. I probably won't go out of my way to pay Array a repeat visit, but I will still be dreaming about that delicious rice wine-stewed fish.

Given that this place is definitely on the higher end in terms of price, I was expecting the dishes to be a little more unique and exquisite. Peking Duck - 6/10 Pretty standard. The duck skin was crispy and fatty, which was good, but the actual meat was a little dry. The wrapper was okay, but nothing particularly memorable. Crispy Walnut Shrimp - 8/10 By far the best dish of the meal. The shrimp was lightly battered but incredibly crispy, and the walnuts were excellent and complemented the shrimp really well. The sweet melon was questionable, though. I couldn't quite understand the appeal of adding fruit to this dish. Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao - 7/10 The filling was definitely up there in terms of flavor and quality, but the wrapper was far too thick for my liking. A thinner wrapper would have made a big difference. Seared Honey Glazed Cod - 5/10 Unfortunately, this was my least favorite. The fish was very fishy, the sear wasn't particularly impressive, and the sauce didn't pair well with the cod. There were also chestnuts and what I believe were shallots, neither of which I really cared for. Overall, it's a beautiful establishment with great service and very impressive presentation. Unfortunately, the flavors didn't quite match the appearance or the price point for me. The Crispy Walnut Shrimp was the standout, but the other dishes were more average than I expected.

There are a few Canto cafés around here, but this one is definitely one of our favorites. Dim sum is pretty easy to find, but authentic Cantonese cafés are much more of a rare find. The lower reviews are probably due to the service, but in my opinion, a truly authentic Cantonese restaurant should have questionable service because that's exactly what you get at the good places in Hong Kong. The philosophy in Hong Kong is basically "food over service." If they're being too nice, they're probably overcompensating for something haha. Getting either the hot or iced milk tea or lemon tea is a MUST. It's the traditional way to do it, and they even offer unlimited refills! Just be warned that you might not sleep that night because Hong Kong-style tea is no joke when it comes to caffeine. Pro tip: If you get the lemon tea, you have to crush the lemons into the tea to get the right flavor! My friends and I are regulars here. They're open late, and the ambiance is so fun, with tables decorated with mahjong tiles and neon lights that basically scream Asia. The food is top tier and, in my opinion, some of the best Cantonese food you'll find in the U.S. Our go-to orders are the tomato baked rice dishes, stir-fried vegetables, 3-cup dishes, and brisket curries.
