Great local Taiwanese spot! I really like the braised pork rice and my boyfriend loves the turkey rice. You can't find the turkey rice easily in LA! Sausage is good too I think the portions are super small especially for the popcorn chicken so definitely order several things to share.

Wanted to try this place for a while. Stopped by for a quick dinner recently to try their food. This is your typical mom and pop shop. I ordered the pork intestines vermicelli and the oyster pancake and both dishes arrived on my table within 10 mins. I like the pancake better than the vermicelli. Overall, I think it's a place for a causal meal if i happen to be in the area.

This is, by far, the best you can get in this area if you are looking for lu rou fan like how they make it in Taiwan. Nowhere else really comes close, which is why it's the best. Unfortunately, they no longer have the rice plates so you'll need to get a "full" order of the veggies along with the rice bowls. Which adds to the not-insignificant cost, but again, it's pretty much the only/best option. The other dishes are pretty good.

As a stinky tofu lover, I was sad I just heard about this place just as they stopped serving stinky tofu. We still went to support them and the food definitely feels authentic. We ordered two servings of oyster omelette, a braised pork rice, seafood noodles, pickled cucumber, Dan Dan noodles dish, pickled cabbage, deep fried intestine and a bowl of intestine vermicelli as well as oyster vermicelli. We made sure to order two plates of popcorn chicken and a bowl of sliced pork with plum powder dip. The pork was a nice surprise. Seasoned a bit differently than what I expected and I heard the plum powder really works. The plum powder was not close to me so I didn't try it. The oyster omelette and vermicelli were so comforting. The dishes were all so good. A must try for Taiwanese Street food hankering. There were always people waiting. Be aware if you get there at peak time. There's only small tables so we had to wait a while for our party of seven.

Really authentic Taiwanese food in the SGV Loved the ru rou fan and fried intestines the most Very mom and pop shop. Friendly service and environment. 3.5 star. This is a small mom and pop Taiwanese restaurant serving up some traditional Taiwanese dishes that I don't normally see on other menus. We got the Lu rou fan and the vermicelli with intestines and oyster. The portions are pretty small in my opinion. Flavor is good on the rice and the pork is fatty and melts in your mouth. I do wished they included braised egg or braised tofu but it was just pork belly with a few pieces of cilantro. The vermicelli is a dish I had back in Taiwan (阿忠米线) and has been searching for back in the states for a while and while it is a similar dish, it doesn't compare to what I had in Asia. I think it's missing the vinegar and I wish I had the option to add spiciness to it.

Authentic Taiwanese food, quick service, small restaurant with limited indoor seating. We waited 20min for a Sunday lunch with a party of 3. The spinach was fresh, the pickled cucumbers were crunchy & refreshing. The turkey rice was flavorful, the fried pork chop was good but the fried popcorn chicken was even better. We will return to try more items on the menu.

This restaurant is quite small, so definitely have someone in your party come first so they can put their name on the wait list! The food was delicious, my table tried the fried pork intestine, pickled cucumber, popcorn chicken, oyster pancake, oyster vermicelli, and pork belly rice. The pickled cucumbers were very good, and the portion was huge for the price! The bowl was completely filled up to the brim (I know it doesn't look like it in my photo but that's because we had already eaten half haha), 9/10. This was my first time trying fried pork intestines and it was a good experience. The intestines were crunchy on one side and soft and fatty on the other. They didn't have much taste other than straight fat, but it did come with salt and pepper to dip in. It also came with a side of pickled vegetables that were perfect to cut through the fattiness of the intestines, 8/10. The popcorn chicken was good as well. They weren't super fried, but the insides were very juicy. And dipping salt that came with the chicken was a bit sweet which I liked as well, 7/10. The oyster pancake was basically a big egg pancake made with rice flour, oysters, and this bitter green vegetable that I can't remember the name of, covered in this sweet and sour sauce that tasted tomatoey. I've never had anything like it, but it was very good! I loved the little pockets of sticky rice flour, 7/10. The pork belly rice was your standard rice that every Taiwanese restaurant serves. I only ate a few bite of my friends, but it was good! 7/10. The oyster vermicelli was also very delicious. The soup was thick like egg drop soup, and the oysters were big. Ask for black vinegar on the side if you like it a bit sour! 8/10. Great food and fast service. The portion sizes were also a lot bigger than expected! Would definitely come again.

If you like Pine & Crane or Joy, give this place a try. It's cheaper and the dishes are considered more "ethnic" There's not much Taiwanese food locations left in the center of San Gabriel, most are East of Rosemead Blvd (Arcadia, Monrovia, etc.) or Rowland Heights area. This place tastes good; pretty standard traditional Taiwanese fare with a limited but solid menu. The oyster omelette tastes pretty good. The glutinous rice flour batter is present throughout, with a solid oyster taste. The batter can be thick/congealed in certain part of the omelette though, so it's not mixed super well. I do like the tong ho or chrysanthemum greens at the bottom versus traditional a-choy (that lettuce texture is whatever imo). The sauce isn't too sweet or in-your-face strong, which gives the whole thing a nice balance. For $13.50, I'd recommend. Popcorn chicken imo has the right amount of marinade. Most boba shops soak them chickens in too strong of a soy sauce (looking at you OG Kikkoman) ginger/garlic marinade that takes away from the juicy chicken taste. This doesn't taste like fried teriyaki chicken. I really like the dipping five spice powder they use, it has a uniquely strong cinnamon/clove taste that I haven't had elsewhere. Clean oil taste with great basil aroma. I'd recommend this for sure. The pork intestines vermicelli tastes good, but not as flavorful as I like it. It has the right thickness in soup and noodle texture (strongest point), but the soup lacks umami that I'm used to. They don't put much intestines (seriously, less than a standard street tripa taco) and cilantro. This soup is best with thick chunks of chewy intestines, but they give chopped up small pieces. At the price of $9.25, go for the oyster vermicelli for a dollar more. It's a traditional Taiwanese taste, portions are on the smaller side, but service is good and food is not oily. Give it a try. I will be back for their shrimp and ground pork noodle.

Typical Taiwanese Chinese foods included fried intestines, oysters noodles, eggs pancake with seafoods, good pork chops... Tasty n delicious very attractive presentation for street foods Taiwanese!! Everything tastes so flavor and don't feel too oily, very tasteful..!!! Golden Leaf is a small street foods shop and only open for 5 days per week!! I think the whole menu is simple n tasty for all items!!!

I used to frequent this Taiwanese restaurant when it first opened, but then I forgot to go because of many new restaurants come out. One day, I suddenly have a craving for Taiwanese food, so I went back and found that their food hadn't changed at all. They taste still the same. The braised rice with pork and soy sauce It really is their signature dish, super delicious. Every single Taiwanese dish is incredibly authentic. Highly recommended! The service was excellent, the staff were friendly, the place was clean, and parking was okay, not too difficult.

Wow can't believe it's been 10 years since I wrote my last review and wanted to update it to 5! I couldn't even remember why I only gave 4 stars but I guess service has improved bc it was great today. Food was amazing as always and tasted so authentic, definitely comparable to Taiwan! My grandma eats here once a week and our entire family loves every dish! I tried the turkey rice for the first time today and don't be fooled by its plain appearance, there's so much good flavor in that dish. The others (minced pork rice, bamboo, vermicelli) were also classics and made really well.

Hi. Does now could be dine in? Thanks 2023. May 19

I think they allow dine in now. My husband went pick up today and saw people eating inside.

Will it open for dine in service in 2/23? As of 1/27/23, owner said they are doing take out only. They have the Taiwanese intestine vermicelli back though! Yay!

    Yes

Are they open for dine in service?

We ordered pick up on 9/16/2021 and no dining in as of that date.

Is this place still open during covid? Called a few times and no one picked up.

Did you call on Monday or Tuesday by any chance? They are closed those days.

Are there any delivery services that pick up from here?

We had a reservation so we were seated right away on the second floor, just above the bar. The music was a little on the loud side so conversation was a little strained. The food was absolutely amazing. Our server was very friendly and informative but was not quite as attentive as we would expect for an establishment like this. This was our first time here, so we had to try the Asparagus Fries. The asparagus was cooked to perfection but the batter did not have much flavor. Members of our party ordered the California Salad, a Veggie Burger, the Meatloaf and a Picante Pizza. The California Salad was smaller than expected but delicious. The Veggie Burger was excellent! The Meatloaf was the hit of the table. It was so good that my wife did not offer a taste to any of us. She was in food Heaven. The pizza was exactly as described and tasted wonderful. Since we were celebrating my birthday, our server brought me a delicious piece of double chocolate cake with a candle in it. Nice touch!! We also had one of their Warm Butter Cake's with some excellent vanilla ice cream on top. Absolutely wonderful!. This may be our new "go-to" place. Looking forward to return to savor the other items on the menu. Their drinks looked delicious as well, so we will definitely try those too.

For food, we started with the bacon deviled eggs and shrimp taquitos. Those deviled eggs were lightly fried, which was different, then had apple wood smoked bacon on top, just a really tasty bite. The shrimp taquitos were also not what you would expect, nice and light but still very good. Entrees we went with the center cut fillet and the prime rib dip with swiss cheese on a brioche bun. That sandwich just melts if your mouth after dipping it in the jous, and the cheese was the perfect accompiament. The fillet was cooked perfect as well, coming out medium rare. Overall, great restaurant in Pasadena. Definitely get the Mai Tai, Devine eggs and prime rib dip. Taquitos were good and, if you're feeling like another hg er appetizer, definitely a way to go . The fillet, also great but I feel you can get it anywhere.

We chose Holy Saints to announce our baby's gender with our parents and we had an amazing time during our intimate dinner here. The restaurant's ambiance was the perfect combination of homey and inviting. It is a smaller place and the number of tables are limited so I highly suggest making a reservation when dining here. During our dinner, it was a bit difficult to have a full blown conversation as the place was packed with guests when we came plus the loud background music that was playing the whole night. Service and food were nothing but amazing! Their menu is very limited. Maybe not everyone will appreciate that, but I think it is more intentional on what is being served to the table. Our highlight of the night was the Grandpa's Pan Roasted Duck Magret Au Poivre for sure. It was so tender on the inside and crispy on the outer edges! We never had a meal like that elsewhere and we will for sure be back just because of it.

Prosciutto was a supplement here and needs it imo for that oomph, otherwise a fine risotto dish but would pass unless it speaks to you - Barnyard Bolognese - a bit underwhelming to start, just too one-note for me, but it eventually grew on me and would get it again if I wanted a rich pasta - Duck Magret Au Poivre - easily my favorite dish here and what I would come back for and recommend for people, tender duck with the right amount of fat and a great sauce. Fries are a bit thicker than I would like, but still enjoyed it. - Seasonal apple pie - more of a danish if I had to describe it to someone, but nice texture and more importantly, not too sweet!

The galbijim was wrong. It tastes like what people who have never tasted Korean food thinks it tastes like (tangy and a bit sweet). It also looks like they cook it separately then they toss it into the dish. They forgot our steamed egg included in the combo. The Korean bbq that costs $50 is a couple of pieces. Like...who does that anymore? It was such a small thing but honestly set the tone for the whole night. The place has that old-school steakhouse feel but updated enough that it doesn't feel dated--cozy, a little nostalgic, and just a really comfortable place to settle in for a long dinner. We started with drinks--Old Fashioneds, Whispering Angel Rosé, and Arnold Palmers--and everything was made perfectly. Then came the bread with garlic herb butter (which you absolutely have to get), and the cornbread...which is honestly more like a dessert. It comes in a little iron skillet with a crumb topping and just melts in your mouth. I would go back for that alone. The homemade potato chips are also kind of dangerous. Very hard to stop eating. Soup of the night was New England clam chowder and it was excellent--thick, rich, and loaded with clams. Definitely one of the better versions I've had. We also ordered the Smitty's Salad, which I always forget how much I love. It has shrimp, smoked bacon, peas, green beans, blue cheese, and cornbread croutons. Sounds like a lot, but it works and feels both fresh and indulgent at the same time. For mains, we probably ordered more than necessary (no regrets): Buttermilk fried chicken: crispy, juicy, and really flavorful--definitely a must Prime rib: cooked perfectly, exactly what you want from a classic steakhouse Sand dabs: light and nicely done with a buttery caper sauce Pork chop: huge and very well cooked Prime rib French dip with fries: messy but worth it Service was professional and efficient all night. Everything came out at a good pace and the staff really knew what they were doing. The egg was cooked perfectly, it was very fluffy, and runny, paired with the demi-glace sauce which made it savory. The rice beneath was a nice addition too. They also come to your table and cut it open for you there, giving you the option to record for social media and etc. Thai tea: 3.5/5 So they have a little TBAR i belive inside, and you can order items separately, although this thai tea came with my order i believe. Its honestly pretty solid, but I'd say that it was a little bit sweet, and the cup is pretty small. Overall, id give it a 4/5. Its more of a resturant where you'd wanna go out and eat eith friends or experience something new, but other then that, its fairly busy most of the time, and parking is a bit hard to find. .

Come for the food, but LOOK AT THIS PLACE…read more Okay, I have to start with the atmosphere because this place is absolutely STUNNING. The second you walk in, there is so much to look at. The woodwork, the hanging wooden plaques, the Japanese-inspired décor, the trees throughout the restaurant, the lighting, and especially the little honeycomb-style booths built into the walls. It almost feels like you've stepped into this little Japanese village rather than just another restaurant. Whoever designed this place understood the assignment. I went during the week, so thankfully it wasn't very crowded, and my friend and I were able to sit upstairs in one of the honeycomb booths. If one is available, DO IT. It made the whole experience that much more fun, and you get such a cool view of the restaurant from up there. Now, FOOD. I ordered the Pork Tonkatsu Omurice with curry sauce, which comes with chicken fried rice wrapped in that beautiful fluffy omelet, topped with pork tonkatsu and curry. When they bring it out, they actually ask if you'd like to record the presentation before they cut/open the egg--which, obviously, YES. It's one of those little touches that turns ordering food into an actual experience. And it was BOMB. The egg was fluffy, the pork tonkatsu had that crispy texture, and everything worked really well with the fried rice and curry. The curry itself isn't particularly spicy, so if you're someone who doesn't tolerate much heat, don't let the word curry scare you. It had plenty of flavor without being hot. Personally, I like my food SPICY spicy, so I added some extra spice to mine, but that's completely personal preference. I also ordered the Thai iced tea, and that was delicious--fresh, creamy, refreshing, and exactly what I wanted with the meal. Overall, I genuinely enjoyed the food, but I think the atmosphere is what pushed the experience over the top for me. The restaurant itself is just SO COOL. There are restaurants where you eat, leave, and that's it--and then there are places where you're looking around the entire time because you keep noticing another little detail. KYURAMEN was definitely the latter. Good food + Thai tea + an omurice presentation + sitting inside a freaking honeycomb booth overlooking this gorgeous restaurant? Yeah. I'm coming back. Tip: If you have the option to sit in one of the elevated honeycomb booths, absolutely take it. It makes the experience.

The Dive in Temple City was a spot I'd written off after a lackluster first visit. Went back…read morerecently and I'm glad I did. We tried a variety of oysters this time. They all sounded pretty similar, but the slightly more expensive ones were better. Looking back, my first visit was for happy hour oysters, so they probably weren't the freshest batch. We also got hot, crispy fish and chips, and steamed clams and mussels. The standout was the Bouillabaisse, recommended by our waiter over the cioppino. Great call, the broth was delightful and well balanced with just the right amount of spice. We went on a Saturday night and the vibe was a pleasant surprise. Live DJ spinning R&B and throwbacks, fun energetic atmosphere, and drinks that were surprisingly affordable compared to a few cities over in Pasadena. Glad we gave it another shot. I'll definitely be back for happy hour, which runs daily, though I might skip the oysters this time around. Then again, who knows.

Woowowowow!!!! Their happy hours are Monday to Sunday. Very good food and great service!…read more I saw many people came here on a Sunday 5pm. Love their food, our server "a tall caucasian server" he was constantly checking on us and asking us if our foods came or not. I really wish I got his name. When he was not busy with the customer, I saw him sweeping the floor, help keeping the restaurant clean at all time. Very good worker. Thank you for your great service. We will be back very soon.
