Go to Americana fare in Pasadena by the same restaurant group that owns Parkway Grill and the Arroyo Chop House. Smitty always delivers for a great American dining experience for celebrations, business dinners or just have a nice night out. Full bar, steaks, prime rib, seafood, full bar & cocktails and always great Smith Brothers service. Parking in the back available.

We came here for our company holiday dinner. This is the first time I dine here. When I walked in, I love the warm, welcoming and festive vibe of the restaurant. We were seated by the patio area due to our party size. The servers are amazing. They offered various wines and took our drink orders. As soon as we sat down, all the appetizers arrived. We had the ahi tuna, the famous corn bread, chicken and beef skewers. We felt so full after sampled different appetizers. For starter, I had the mixed green salad which was so fresh and delicious. I had the petit filet mignon with broccoli. I asked for medium and I think it came as medium rare, a little too rare for me, nevertheless it was good. For dessert, I tried the chocolate mousse cake and took the key lime pie to go. Such an amazing meal. I'll come back for a date night dinner and try other entrees here.

We were the first couple to be seated and were greeted by a large happy hour scene just ending. Well, we came for the Pasadena Cheeseburger Week, so I ordered the new Wagyu Burger to try it out. The food is good here, but I really wanted to order a steak, medium rare. I'm going to come again and will try some real beef medium rare!

I was in town visiting for a work training and my coworker recommended this place! The restaurant itself is very warm, cozy, and intimate. The service was amazing and all staff were welcoming and attentive. The menu has a lot of variety and daily specials that change! We got lucky with parking right out front, but this area may get a little difficult on weekends. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area. Food review: Bread and garlic&herb butter: (5/5) This was so delicious! The butter was sooo flavorful and paired with the warm sourdough, it was perfect. Hanger steak: (5/5) Yum! It was cooked perfectly medium and had a fantastic chimichurri on top. The potatoes and asparagus that came on the side were also tasty. It was the perfect portion. BBQ ribs: I personally didn't try them, but my colleague said they were delicious!! She's had them before and is never disappointed.

Buttermilk Fried Mary's Chicken, Cornbread Muffins, Honey Butter

Smitty's is a smart, little restaurant where I wouldn't be surprised to see Jon Hamm from Mad Men from the corporate world of the 1960's. Of course, the food is updated to New American to include a lot of Italian dishes, but there are the classic steaks, prime ribs, meatloaf, buttermilk fried chicken, chicken pot pie, good representation of seafood, etc. 0) Thick, cut bread is a rustic, yeasty sourdough with rugged crust; soft, moist plush interior. The garlic parsley butter had a pronounced allium funkiness to emphasize its bucolic nature. 1) French Fries are of the finely julienned allumette/match stick potato variety which requires more labour and knife skills. I wanted them crispy, and it was honored maybe a little more than wished for. My bad. Next time, I'll ask for the menu default. Small cup of Heinz ketchup paired well. 2) Buttermilk Fried Mary's Chicken, Cornbread Muffins, Honey Butter: Half of a big chicken is marinated in buttermilk so that even the usually dry breast meat is soft, moist. Batter is lightly herbed and thin to produce a subtle crispiness. Just wish the buttermilk marinade was kissed by garlic, sage, thyme, oregano, etc. so that it would infuse into the chicken meat which was rather bland. Corn Bread has a crunch around the edges while the inside is more moist. Might have touch of flour for a sweet, cake-like feel. The honey infused butter pairs well. This menu item can comfortably feed two people. Take it home to make a chicken sandwich or curry salad. 1-2) I asked for Chandon Brut Rosé Vin Pétillant but I noticed on the check it was a Jeio Prosecco which had an earthy, yeasty, sweet, bitterness along with an overly sun exposed caramelized toastiness. Chandon would have had a brighter, more palate cleansing acidity. This switcheroo by the bar was unexpected. Tracy was right for our table of 8 which was like herding cats. Accommodating, patient, yet understatedly personable. She was good at reading the table and anticipating our needs. At the same time she made sure she didn't disturb our flow of conversation. Casual yet stylish, Smitty's has a varied New American menu that is adequate, trying to find a mean which should satisfy most. 4- stars

    The Grill Mixed Green Salad

Smitty's is a popular local spot and stopped by for an early dinner. . Plenty of parking in back for the half dozen restaurants close-by and some limited street parking on Lake. It was before 6PM so we were to seated right away. The restaurant is spacious with an outdoor seating area at the back patio. The main dining area is very well appointed, modern but with a lot of wood touches, to give it a homier vibe. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They check on you frequently and the service is at a level you would expect from a Smith Brothers restaurant. We started with some bread. It was very good sourdough loaf especially with the softened garlic butter, I was hungry so I made the rookie mistake of filling up on bread. The mixed green salad was okay, but refreshing considering the heat LA was experiencing at the time. We ordered the sand dabs and fried chicken. Sand dabs was in a lemon caper sauce, very good and crazy big portion plus some broccolini. The fried chicken portion was enough for 2 people or 3 if they filled up on bread. The chicken was well fried, super crispy and the white meat portion was still juicy. It was well seasoned but It could have use a little more spice, at crank up the black pepper. It was served with 2 corn bread muffins with honey butter, so good, worth the calories. I wished they served the chicken with some coleslaw to balance it out the richness. Overall Smitty's Grill was a pretty good experience and the food was good. The service was top notch and the portions was big so some value added points for you budget conscious diners. I would give the food alone 4 stars but the service and experience bumps it up to 5.

My wife had brought me here for the first time 8 yrs ago when I retired and we've come back several times throughout the years. We love the decor. The booths are comfortable, and the food is great and the service is always second to none! Whether its for a casual dinner or a special occasion, as it was on Wed, Feb 19,2025. Our friend was retiring and we couldn't think of a better place to help her celebrate than Smitty's Grill. Our new retiree loved the' Congratulatory' card and complimentary dessert she received from our waiter/ waitress for her retirement! Thanks for making the night a memorable one! See you soon!

Another lovely local restaurant in the south lake area of Pasadena that I've always passed by and wanted to try. Stopped in for a quick drink at the bar and some dessert and bother were delicious. The restaurant was warm and cozy and was decked out for the holidays. Service was excellent, and the bar tenders were very attentive at making sure everyone was taken care of. Will drop by again to try out the rest of their menu, but highly recommended if you're looking for a tasty martini or other drink at their bar.

Really had high hopes for this place but the service was just ok, no energy or anything. But maybe on a slow day I'll come back

Does this place have outdoor dining?

They have an outdoor area that is covered in the back and a few outdoor tables in the front on the street side. I prefer the main dining room personally.

    Is there Parking?

There's a paid lot behind it or lots of street parking in front.

Do they have happy hour Sunday?

I asked Caroline M but she didn't know.

Do they still have the butterscotch pudding? It is not listed on the website menu.

We do not, but our other restaurant Arroyo Chop House does!

What is the wine corkage fee?

$25.00 a bottle for the first & second bottle after that it's flat $50.00

I've been going to them more and more, and The Lucky Tiki was one I definitely had to try out. First off, I have to praise 1933 group because I have loved every single bar they have revitalized and this one is no different. In keeping with their MO, The Lucky Tiki is a speakeasy with a vintage vibe. I won't give away how to get in but let's just say, it's near the front of Highland Park Bowl. My husband and I didn't have a reservation, but we were able to put our name in and got seated about an hour or so later. I was amazed as soon as I walked in the door! It's just floor to ceiling decorated with everything tiki. So many fun details and even interactive elements that turn on when a particular drink was ordered. That was probably my favorite part honestly. We ordered the Tiki Diablo, which is a large tiki drink with a flaming volcano. And yes it does have an interactive element. It was really good. Very fruity and strong, but not overly so. Service was excellent. Our waitress was on it and even waited to make sure my husband was back from the bathroom before lighting our drink on fire. We didn't try any food this time, but a lot of people were ordering the Hawaiian pizza. Do with that what you may. Will definitely be back ti try more drinks and food. How about instead of accepting $$$ for a private event that will deny customers their reservation, they make the private event work around what is available? Terrible way of doing business, but I hope they get lots of $$$ and engagement for the privileged private event attendees.

I'm a second-generation Irish-American from New York, and St. Patrick's Day has always meant something in my family. Growing up it was about heritage, family, and a little joy. Now that I have two daughters of my own -- very Irish-looking girls who are proud of their roots -- I wanted them to experience some of that same Irish pub spirit. So on St. Patrick's Day 2025, I took them to Griffin's of Kinsale in South Pasadena. They were so excited to be there -- the decorations, the music, the feeling of a real Irish pub. For a moment I thought, this is going to be a great memory for them. We came early because it was a school night. The restaurant was busy -- which is understandable on St. Patrick's Day. I ordered three salmon dinners for my daughters and myself. The bill came to about $150. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. Over an hour and a half. During that entire time: * No one warned us the kitchen was backed up when we ordered. * No one checked on our table. * No updates. * No communication at all. Had someone simply said "Just so you know, food may take an hour or more tonight," I could have made a different decision -- especially with two kids who had school the next morning. Instead we sat downstairs watching the clock while the evening disappeared. By the end of the night my daughters -- who had been so excited walking in -- were tired, hungry, and miserable. When I asked to speak with a manager, no one came. No explanation. No apology. Restaurants get slammed on holidays. Kitchens fall behind. That happens. But ignoring a table for 90 minutes -- especially a family with children -- isn't a busy night. It's bad management. What should have been a fun St. Patrick's Day memory for my daughters turned into a long, uncomfortable evening where we felt completely invisible. For a place that trades so heavily on Irish identity and hospitality, this was about as far from hospitality as you can get. Save your $150 and celebrate St. Patrick's Day somewhere that actually wants you there. And if management would like to explain how a family ends up waiting 90 minutes with no communication, I'd genuinely be interested to hear it.

Food wise, the shared plate was a mixture of everything. Some of the olives, which is exactly what it is. The Belgian fries, nice thick cut fries with shredded pecorino cheese and a nice aioli sauce. We ended up getting a second order of it. The albacore tuna crudo was a hit which was really tasty. Chili ginger relish, mint and shallot, can't go wrong with that. Lastly the meatballs, tasty and very great for sharing. Entrees, the pan seared sea bass which I loved. Portion is pretty tiny which also seemed like they were a shared plate. Almost tapas styled. Nice chimichurri sauce and a side salad. The chicken Milanese also with a side salad of arugula. Simple dish but quite tasty. One of the salads that was somewhat hyped up by the waitress but it was just a salad. Decent but nothing major to rave about...lol... also the confit oyster mushrooms was major hit. Something that simple but quite tasty. And lastly the pan con tomate, rustic sourdough with tomatoes and burrata. Tasty as well. Overall the meal was good. From there, the second round of drinks did take a long time to arrive and with then plates that we shared, trying to get someone to clear the plates was another thing. Took a long for someone to clear the table before more items came. Even when the entrees came, all the empty starter plates were still there. And if someone did clear the plates, some was still left on the table. Finishing off the night, we did have the dessert which we tried all three. As it was two of our girlfriends birthday, they brought out a little bubbly for us to celebrate with the dessert. That was quite sweet and nice. Honestly opinion with the dessert, they were just ok. Nothing major to rave about. We tried all three on the menu and they were just ok. Overall, the food was great. Service was nice and the staffs were all very friendly. It did take a while for plates to get cleared from the table and second round did take a while, but it was manageable. It was a sweet gesture with the bubbly with the dessert which was greatly appreciated. The place is nice and great for catching up. Menu is limited and portions are quite small. You would have to get a good amount for sharing. Entrees, depending on what you order is small as well. But we enjoyed ourself.

They serve lukewarm water and the a/c was on but was not on ..if u catch my drift. The front hostess was also phenomenal, I had reservation for outdoor seating but since she saw that the sun was like glaring, she asked if I wanted to change to inside. Very obliging and accommodating. Food: 5 stars, surprisingly good, right amount for us. I was full but I can see where other reviewers say portions are small. It's small if u're a heavy eater. But the quality is definitely there. Ambiance: trendy, high energy, casual vibes where u can lounge and have a beer while munching on fries...or u can choose to be poshy and have a glass of wine with a salad and Chilean sea bass. It's flexible to accommodate both as there are different sections. Parking: street metered 1 hour parking. 3 stars, not their fault but 1 hour is simply not enough. It can get super busy and the server can be pulled left and right, so cut them some slack during super busy hours. Will definitely be back. Highly recommended .

We were here for a work event and had a few cocktails, and it was such an enjoyable experience. If you're staying on the property, this is absolutely worth stopping by for a couple of drinks. Because this is a hotel bar since it's situated in The Langham 5-star luxury hotel, the drinks are expensive like $25 starting. One of my friends got a lemon-based mocktail (pretty good) and I got Cosmopolitan-type cocktail with Prosecco (pretty solid and not overly sweet, just not one of the best cocktails I tried). Another friend ordered Negroni, which is a potent cocktail with a bitter sharp, dry aftertaste. I could hardly taste any hint of sweetness in the drink. My friend thought it was too bitter, too. Honestly, for me it tastes just as bitter as a Manhattan, probably because both cocktails incorporate sweet vermouth. 3 stars for the poor customer service and wait time for standing in line to order drinks. There were 2 or 3 bartenders and they were rushing but also seemed like they weren't efficiently helping customers with drinks in a timely manner. The lounge area was meh (super limited seat spots) and the vibes were bland despite coming here on New Year's Eve. Definitely an older demographic that frequents this bar, not that it's a bad thing, just not our vibe since it would've been more fun if there other people closer to our age, so we decided to bar hop elsewhere after.

    Cannonball - Buttermilk biscuits

Cannonball, delicious food, delivered cannonball speed!…read more My wife and I went to Cannonball on a Saturday night ready for a relaxed dinner. The food is fantastic. Seriously. Creative flavors, well executed dishes, everything we had was excellent. But the pacing? Absolute chaos. We ordered Negronis (an apéritif, meaning the drink is supposed to come before the meal). Two food dishes landed on the table before the cocktails even showed up. Then the rest of the plates began arriving at what can only be described as cannonball speed. We were still eating one dish while another server materialized with the next like a food ninja. Our tiny table looked like a game of culinary Tetris. In and out in 45 minutes on a Saturday night. Great if you're power-lunching with clients. Less great if you're trying to linger over dinner. Bottom line: fantastic food. Just know the kitchen fires dishes like they're loading artillery. Eat fast or get buried.
