    Magnolia Breakfast Sandwich
    Tiffany H.

Arrived at around 11:30 AM on a Sunday. There was a short wait since we had a large party, maybe around 10 minutes. I ordered the magnolia breakfast sandwich which came with a side of potatoes. The breakfast sandwich was just okay. It was mostly filled with scrambled eggs and there wasn't much bacon in it. The potatoes, on the other hand, were delicious. They were crispy and flavorful. Service was good. The brunch spot had a cozy vibe to it with couches and bar stools. They have a long list of alcohol offerings. The menu for alcohol was longer than the menu. If you enjoy day drinking, this would be the spot to do it. Don't think I'd come back though, there are many other brunch spots that have more to offer.

I pass by this place a lot and have been wanting to come try it out. They have a dog friendly patio so I brought my girl out to have brunch with us! The only thing with the patio is it's on a slant so I was little worried about our food and drinks spilling the whole time. We tried the shakshuka, home fries, and pain perdu. Loved the shakshuka - I just wish there was more bread with it. It was really saucy and they only gave 2 pieces of bread, I think it needs at least 4 pieces. At least we had the fries (which were delicious on their own) to sop up the rest of the shakshuka when we ran out of bread. Their pain perdu hit the spot for our sweet tooth. It was nice and fluffy and warm.

Initially came here for some drinks but ended up ordering more food since it sounded good. Luckily we found free convenient street parking just around the corner of the block. We requested for seating outside at the patio to enjoy some fresh air. There's also warm heat lamps outside in case its a colder evening. Portions were on a little on the smaller side, but it was still a good amount. Drinks were simple but good, enough to not be too sweet and not too heavy-handed where i felt the alcohol. Albacore Tuna Crudo - refreshing and tasty. I love crunch but the crispy shallots were a bit too much where it overpowered the fresh fish 7/10 Wagyu coulotte steak- good steak that wasn't too salty. The potatoes were really really good and cripsy (best part of the meal)! Again with the crispy shallots, they're adding them everywhere and it's an unnecessary crunch and sauce on top of the steak. 7/10 Bucatini pasta- I looked on yelp for reviews and the images look very good. While it was good and light, it wasn't as saucy as I saw from the reviews. Missing some flavor and oomph. 6/10 Overall nice chill place to grab a drink and catch up with friends.

Well drink - Pineapple Juice and Vodka

I've been here a few times for happy hour and it's always been a mix, sometimes a hit and sometimes a miss. I once asked for water one too many times it seems cause a waitress grabbed the pitcher from another table that just left and slammed it on my table. That was of course a miss. But that's been years so perhaps she's no longer there. When I got a new job, my new coworkers like this place so we've been a few times since and it's been decent. I haven't had another water incident but the most recent time I've been, I got a well drink and they must have used subpar vodka cause I woke up with a headache the next day and that was only after one drink and I'm by far not a lightweight. It only happens when I drink cheap alcohol. IYKYK. To be fair to them I've had some signature drinks from there before including their sangria and never had this problem. Anyways, on to the food, we usually get the fries, which I get without cheese cause I'm lactose. The waitress comes after I've already eaten like.a third to point out that there's cheese in the sauce she gave me. If I order without cheese, wouldn't you think to omit the cheese sauce too. Mind you it didn't look like it had cheese in it, nor did it really taste like it but I did stop eating it after she told me just in case. My coworkers like the wings. I think they're ok but kinda too soicy for me but the lemon wedge helps. The eggplant dip is good but needs more pita bread. The crudo is good but kinda small so it really is a small bite. I think I only come cause everyone else wants to come but it's not the greatest in food or service. If you decide to do patio seating, just know it's literally on the street. The restaurant itself is pretty inside and parking is easy at the lot half a block away.

How many times we have driven by without noticing this gem! The "Magnolia Experience" started as we walked up with a clear sign telling us we were in the right place and someone would soon seat us. That someone appeared seconds later, gave us options (it was Sat, July 4th, we were grateful to find places open, much less with options), and had us seated within a minute or two of arriving. Trinity, our server, was at our side within another minute or two, consulting with us on the house cocktail menu. Drinks chosen, we surveyed the decor, then the menu, making a few choices for a light meal. The tuna crudo and the zucchini and feta fritters were an outstanding start to the meal. We then shared a bowl of the bucatini pomodoro with its remarkable fresh tomato sauce, very unique and delicious. The meal was capped off with the hibiscus pavlova. Incredible! Such simple ingredients, such perfectly matched flavors - a perfect end to a memorable meal. Out thanks to Trinity and the kitchen staff for all that we experienced. We have already recommended it to friends and will be back!

Brunch here for friend's bday. Shared regular eggs Benedict and crab Benedicts and fries for the table. My other friend got the Shashuka. Food was good . We sat outside and they had umbrellas . Great service.

Came here for the drinks! The drinks were good & quite balanced. The place is super cute too! Cozy modern vibes indoors & the patio outside. The service was good too!

My friends and I decided to grab brunch after running at the Rose Bowl and stumbled upon this cozy little spot nearby and I'm so glad we did! It's the perfect place for a sunny brunch. The space is super cute and inviting, with such a warm, cozy vibe. They have a full bar, so we ordered drinks before getting seated and they were delicious. It was the perfect start to brunch with the girls. I ordered the crab cake benedict and it did not disappoint. The crab cake was flavorful, but honestly the side potatoes were my favorite part of the meal! They were seasoned and cooked to absolute perfection. The staff was kind, attentive, and made sure we were taken care of the entire time. I would definitely recommend this spot for a fun, laid-back brunch with friends!

    Shiitake mushroom omelette

I have been to this restaurant and bar a couple of times over the years and it was mostly for drinks later at night or drink drinks after work. I always found their cocktails satisfying and the ambience is good too with. more than one area to sit in. Recently, a friend and I had brunch over there. While we enjoyed the seasonal cocktail specials, I was really really impressed with the food. I think it was one of the best brunches I have had in the area for a long time. I love eggs and we had the most amazing confit shiitake mushroom omelette. There is an option to add bacon or sausage into the omelette for an extra booster protein, and there is flexibility with the side dishes. I usually just take one or two bites of the potatoes, but their potatoes were so good and crunchy that I ate a fair amount and took the rest home. The side of challah bread was a great option. My holiday gingerbread espresso martini was delicious and garnished beautifully. We were catching up after a long time and they told us we can sit there for as long as we wanted, which was very nice. Some restaurants have a time limit these days so we appreciated not being rushed.

    Weekend brunch December 2025

My party of 3 went on Sunday late lunch with a reservation and we were seated in 5-10 minutes. They do have outdoor seating and indoor is essentially outdoor as well as they have a huge open window and leave their doors open. (So maybe dress warmly on a colder day, though they do have heat lamps outside.) I got the Seoul Garden to drink, as recommended by our server - it really was a great drink. Food was good; we came for brunch. However, what was a little disappointing was the service as it was SLOW. Getting our orders took a moment, getting our food took a moment, waiting for the check and then waiting to pay. Our server really wasn't even in the area at all, walking by or anything. So if we wanted to flag someone down because we were in a rush, we would've had to go get the host or flag down other staff members. Parking: we parked in the lot in the back. Because we went on Sunday, we didn't have to worry about paying for parking.

When I don't know what to eat in the area - Magnolia House is always my go to and it never fails! Have been here on multiple occasions and it's always so delicious. Food is good, ambiance is laid back relaxed vibes, and drinks are amazing! I've had the shakshuka, huevos rancheros, burger and meatballs and all were phenomenal. It's one of those places that you can never go wrong with anything you choose!

Food: Crab Cakes Benedict - 2 poached eggs, English muffin, arugula, mustard hollandaise, breakfast potatoes, seasonal fruit Service: friendly service & everything made-to-order Design: feels like an old Pasadena craftsman home converted into a restaurant with exposed wooden trusses; large windows that open up to get an indoor-outdoor feel; also have outdoor covered seating on the street Overall: if you want a great brunch in a cozy atmosphere in Pasadena Lake Ave. District, then check out this spot

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Pasadena. Met a friend here once to get together and catch up, I have been coming back ever since. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is laid back and the staff are great. There are some good Happy Hour options on the menu. For cocktails I enjoy the spicy pineapple margarita. For bites, the brussell sprouts, crab cakes and waygu sliced steak are very good.

I'm a second-generation Irish-American from New York, and St. Patrick's Day has always meant something in my family. Growing up it was about heritage, family, and a little joy. Now that I have two daughters of my own -- very Irish-looking girls who are proud of their roots -- I wanted them to experience some of that same Irish pub spirit. So on St. Patrick's Day 2025, I took them to Griffin's of Kinsale in South Pasadena. They were so excited to be there -- the decorations, the music, the feeling of a real Irish pub. For a moment I thought, this is going to be a great memory for them. We came early because it was a school night. The restaurant was busy -- which is understandable on St. Patrick's Day. I ordered three salmon dinners for my daughters and myself. The bill came to about $150. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. Over an hour and a half. During that entire time: * No one warned us the kitchen was backed up when we ordered. * No one checked on our table. * No updates. * No communication at all. Had someone simply said "Just so you know, food may take an hour or more tonight," I could have made a different decision -- especially with two kids who had school the next morning. Instead we sat downstairs watching the clock while the evening disappeared. By the end of the night my daughters -- who had been so excited walking in -- were tired, hungry, and miserable. When I asked to speak with a manager, no one came. No explanation. No apology. Restaurants get slammed on holidays. Kitchens fall behind. That happens. But ignoring a table for 90 minutes -- especially a family with children -- isn't a busy night. It's bad management. What should have been a fun St. Patrick's Day memory for my daughters turned into a long, uncomfortable evening where we felt completely invisible. For a place that trades so heavily on Irish identity and hospitality, this was about as far from hospitality as you can get. Save your $150 and celebrate St. Patrick's Day somewhere that actually wants you there. And if management would like to explain how a family ends up waiting 90 minutes with no communication, I'd genuinely be interested to hear it.

We came right when they opened so it was very empty, but the bartender mentioned it gets really packed and lively on weekends. If I came back and was able to guess the password I'd stop by when it's more energetic for a different vibe.

Grandma's Purse, which features miso-infused Suntory, butterscotch, and 5 spice, was surprisingly savory and not sweet. On the other hand, Wabbit Season, which features carrot, cumin and celery among its ingredients, was surprisingly sweet. Go figure. I enjoyed the novelty of those drinks but I probably would not get them again. I would be interested in trying out some of their other cocktails though.

As a I grew up in Highland Park I took my wife to visit The Arroyo Club bar to celebrate her recent promotion after the bar was recommended to us by a close friend. We were looking forward to a fun evening and decided to participate in the trivia game being hosted that night. After receiving an answer sheet from the host, Matt, my wife and I began playing. The trivia topic was based on an older television show that we were unfamiliar with, and we initially used our phones to look up answers. A male individual approached us and informed us that using our phones was considered cheating. We accepted that explanation, stopped using our phones, and continued playing. Later in the evening, I observed bartender Justin speaking with the same individual and appearing to provide him with answers. When I questioned how that was different from what we had been told not to do, Justin stated that it was not cheating because they were part of a group. I responded that it was only a game and not a serious issue, especially considering my wife and I had only accumulated a few points. At that point, the interaction became uncomfortable. Justin informed the host that my wife and I should be disqualified for cheating, despite the fact that we had stopped using our phones when instructed. The employee who had originally confronted us also became increasingly confrontational, which my wife and I found intimidating. I later asked another bartender, Zach, what the concern was, and he explained that the winning prize was $50. While I understand the importance of maintaining fair rules, the way the situation was handled felt unnecessarily hostile and embarrassing. What made the experience even more disappointing was that we appeared to be the only minority guests present at the time, and we observed other patrons using their phones without being confronted. This left us feeling singled out and unwelcome. My wife attempted to discuss how the situation made us feel with a female bartender who had blue hair. Unfortunately, her reaction appeared dismissive, and our concerns did not seem to be taken seriously. As we prepared to leave, the employee who had initially confronted us remained nearby staring in our direction, which further contributed to our discomfort. For reference, we were seated at the right corner of the bar if you were facing the bar from the front. I am not seeking compensation. Rather, I hope management will review the events of that evening, including any available security footage and discussions with staff members present. No guest should leave feeling targeted, embarrassed, or unwelcome while simply trying to enjoy a night out celebrating a special occasion.

Because this is a hotel bar since it's situated in The Langham 5-star luxury hotel, the drinks are expensive like $25 starting. One of my friends got a lemon-based mocktail (pretty good) and I got Cosmopolitan-type cocktail with Prosecco (pretty solid and not overly sweet, just not one of the best cocktails I tried). Another friend ordered Negroni, which is a potent cocktail with a bitter sharp, dry aftertaste. I could hardly taste any hint of sweetness in the drink. My friend thought it was too bitter, too. Honestly, for me it tastes just as bitter as a Manhattan, probably because both cocktails incorporate sweet vermouth. 3 stars for the poor customer service and wait time for standing in line to order drinks. There were 2 or 3 bartenders and they were rushing but also seemed like they weren't efficiently helping customers with drinks in a timely manner. The lounge area was meh (super limited seat spots) and the vibes were bland despite coming here on New Year's Eve. Definitely an older demographic that frequents this bar, not that it's a bad thing, just not our vibe since it would've been more fun if there other people closer to our age, so we decided to bar hop elsewhere after.

We sat outside, which was perfect for a quieter, more intimate dinner. A train passes by every so often, which gave it a cool New York vibe, but next time I'd probably sit inside. The interior looked much more lively and energetic, and they even have an upstairs seating area. We ordered the biscuits, tuna tartare, shrimp, a burger, and fries, and everything was fantastic. The biscuits were easily the highlight. Warm, buttery, crisp on the outside, and incredibly comforting. They reminded us of an elevated version of the classic Pillsbury biscuits, in the best way possible. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely come back. Great food, great atmosphere and service, and a really charming location. Highly recommend!

I was pleasantly surprised at the welcoming staff and warm ambiance. Going to slide one complaint in here, the noise level in the upstairs portion of the restaurant is LOUD. We sat upstairs and it was pretty difficult to hear my friends talk from just across the table. We powered through, and by the second half of our meal, most diners had finished and left us upstairs with only a couple of lingering parties. THEN this place became GREAT! Here's all that we stuffed ourselves with during the cacophony of chatter: flaky buttermilk biscuits, honey butter (3pc; please allow 20 minutes) - totally worth the 20 mins!! Super buttery and flaky, I might go back JUST FOR THIS! crispy calamari, horseradish cocktail sauce - great little kick in the sauce. Perfectly lightly battered. fideos, clams, chorizo, saffron, sweet sherry aïoli - mmmm, this was delicious. The Spanish chorizo enhanced the broth with a good saltiness. white shrimp from the griddle, aïoli - this was my favorite. The shrimp was not overcooked and peeled easily. The flavor was good enough to slurp the juices out. single burger, prime chuck, tillamook cheddar, dijonaise, egg brioche bun & crispy french fries - good meaty burger, love the dijonaise, GREAT shoestring fries. Parking is a little challenging during the day, not so bad in the evening. It's South Pas, a little neighborhood walk after dinner never hurts.

Pricey but so worth the experiences and drinks. We started off our night here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The staff was so beyond nice and welcoming. The inside is absolutely gorgeous and the ambience is the perfect date night setting. Brandon, our server, was so beyond nice! Open to answering our questions and giving us pretty good recommendations! We got the Japanese milk bread and patatas bravas as snacks. The milk bread was complemented perfectly with the two butters we got - one sweet and one savory. The patatas bravas, omg, they were so delicious. Made with scallions and sriracha aioli, hard to dislike, when paired with perfectly crispy potatoes. As a gin lover, i was so intrigued by the sands of time, and let me tell you it did not disappoint. Who knew gin paired so well with the different herbals and ingredients paired in this drink?! So delicious and you can brew the drink longer to really let the flavors settle! The presentation, 10/10! I liked it so much I got it twice. My husband started off with the duck fat old fashioned. He's a huge lover of old fashioneds and was intrigued. He loved how smooth it was. He then got me and my best friend which is close to a Manhattan and loved the Asian twist to it. We laughed at the presentation, it was perfect. Definitely interested in trying the omakase drink experience, will definitely be back!
