We made a later reservation and would have stayed longer but didn't know just how much of an experience it would be. Vibes here are dark and moody, and it would be a great place for a unique date, just maybe not the first one. We got the beef tartare and spicy tuna crispy rice to munch on. The spicy tuna crispy rice was worth it, the beef tartare not so much. Also decided to do the drink omakase because they make the single drink prices so expensive it still feels more worth it to do the omakase so you end up getting that instead. You tell the server what you do and don't like or are looking for in your drinks and the bartenders will make them for you. Some might be already on the menu, some may not. If there is something you really don't like and you tell the servers, they will be kind enough to replace it for you with something you do. Overall they did a good job with making mine but didn't quite hit it for my friend. Ladies and Gentlemen was a sultry speakeasy experience for themed cocktails and light bites in a basement. It wasn't difficult to spot, as there was a sign at the Indiana Colony Market. Just look for the Wanderlust and go towards the back of the building! We were then greeted by the doorman who had a series of questions. After that you are led to the bathroom, which then leads you to the space. Their cocktail names are catchy, due to the names being irreversible binomials. For example, we ordered the Beauty and The Beast cocktail (delicious and pretty drink btw!) and Friends and Neighbors cocktail. Other ones include Day and Night, Born and Raised, and Rise and Shine. They even have an omakase experience if you really wanted to try the bartender picks. For a bite, we ordered a steak tartare. It was a light-handed portion, enough for a small bite between two people if you just want something to eat in between sips. It was decent, however, not filling and I would get food elsewhere. This is a great speakeasy in the heart of Old Town Pasadena, I'd recommend it if you're looking for tasty and innovative drinks! You'll come across a bunch of restrooms but little do you know, one of the restroom doors is actually the entrance to the bar. We called to make a reservation for our large party of 11 but for smaller parties you can make resrvations online at Resy. Once you walk in you'll come across a vintage and modern decor. It has leather-like seats, golden skulls everywhere, celebrity portraits all over the walls, and provocative art pieces. The sand and time ($24) came in a teapot and got more herbaceous the longer the drink steeped. It was good, balanced, and I preferred it when it steeped longer. The old and fashioned ($24) was strong and spirit-forward. The a gentleman and a scholar ($24) came in a beaker and had spice notes from the cinnamon and clove. The cocktails were theatrical and creative in their presentation. For food we had the Japanese milk bread ($10), the new crispy rice ($18), the hot honey pizza ($22), and the caviar parfait ($48) which were all delicious. The milk bread was fresh and came with a sweet and a savory butter and I preferred the latter. Of the food we ordered the crispy rice was my favorite. Overall the bar had cool vibes and great service. You'll definitely pay a pretty penny for the drinks here. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening out to Ladies and Gentlemen in downtown Pasadena. The ambience is definitely 5/5 with the dim lighting, black and gold motif, and excellent hospitality. We were offered three types of water to start with: filtered, bottled, or sparkling. We opted for filtered, which arrived chilled and with a choice of lemon, orange or lime slice, which was a lovely touch. We ordered the Afghani flat bread to start with--it was pretty bland but was a good palate cleanser between cocktails. In contrast, the new crispy rice was super flavorful and had a really enjoyable combination of textures between the rice and the smoked salmon on top. This is such a unique speakeasy. Made reservation for 9pm on a Friday. We were sat as soon as we got there. The space is darkly light and intimate perfect for date night or a night out with friends. Service was great, drinks really well-balanced and worldly. Long Review: This place is your stereotypical speakeasy with the hidden entrance, dark mysterious vibes, cool wait staff and great drinks. The bonus is that they have really upscale bites that are way better than typical bar food. It's like Asian-fusion goodness. To enter, you have to go through the building doors in the back alley. Take the elevator or stairs all the way down to the basement where you see signs for the bathrooms. Now the TRUE speakeasy would have made you guess which bathroom door to enter, but they make it easy on you by having an attendant there to ask if you're there for Ladies & Gentlemen and then punching in the code to open the door. Once inside the first bathroom door you have to "flush" to get into the establishment through the second door. (I think they'd do better to change the code daily and give it out only to those savvy enough to find it.) The drinks are from all over the world and they instruct you to order to your taste as opposed to the type of alcohol. However, I don't do well with all types of alcohol so I limited mine to ones that won't give me a hangover. Both of mine were good, one (The Burning Man) much better than the other one I ordered. They justify the absolutely outrageous prices for their drinks by giving you a show and presenting them to you in some crazy way. Not worth the price. Just give me the drink... The food was really delicious and there was a nice selection. I will say, it would have been great for them to suggest pairing of the food with the aromas of the drinks. I do t believe that the food menu matches or compliments the varied drink selection and that's what would have put this over the top for me, and frankly justified the high prices. I had a light and tasty cucumber salad, and for the main course I ordered the braised short ribs served with mashed potatoes which was savory and delicious. Food portions are very small. We paid around 400$ for a party of 3 My bf had the duck fat old fashioned. He was excited to try it as he knew the process that is used to make the render and strain the drink through it is supposed to make the whiskey extra smooth - I guess that wasn't the case with this bar. So ultimately it was just an extra expensive old fashioned that was a little saltier, because they didn't melt the fat and strain it the way. Most of the drinks we had were good otherwise but again, the costs for the quality and and the portions was too much to really want to come back to establishment nice vibe, recent eats, but def not a dinner and drinks place the food is more tapas style it also find of felt they were going the extra mile to just make the food and drinks more extravagant than they needed to be - this place could really work if instead of trying to elevate basic eats they keep it classic and true read more

If you like overpriced, super sweet cocktails that are weak then this is the place for you. Don't get me wrong, it's a cool place to check out but the drinks have probably half the alcohol content of any real cocktail from any other bar or restaurant in the area. Cute speakeasy with overpriced drinks and food. A bit disappointed that the drinks are premix but they have perfected the drinks presentations for social media. Service is great but depending on the time can be a bit slow but they do have a beautiful interior for you to look at while waiting. Worth visiting one time - jf you like it (good) if it was just okay - fortunately for you, there are other speakeasies in the area. read more

Loved this place. Food was amazing, drinks were sophisticated and ambiance was perfect!

The ambiance and the decor were beautiful. I love that part. And the whole speak easy experience was cool. There's a security guard in the front and when you first enter you see a bunch of bathroom doors. They asked if we had a reservation and we didn't know we needed one. Luckily it wasn't that busy. To enter he opens one of the bathroom door and you go into a "bathroom" and you're supposed to flush to enter. That part was fun. So when they call this the "cocktail experience" there wasn't really anything cool about that. We ordered one of their popular drinks the beauty and the beast. It came out in a glass dome and in a glass that's the shape of a rose. But the waitress that served it took it out of the dome right away. Like I had my phone out and was able to take a picture and she did it too fast. I'm not sure why the rush because we were literally the only ones in there. The drink itself didn't taste great. My husband ordered an old fashion and there was nothing extraordinary about that drink either. The pizza tasted pretty good. It's a personal size pizza for $20. So you can decide if it's worth it. Overall we pay $80 for a pizza, old fashioned and beauty and the beast drink. read more

This place is just ok. Their drinks and food are mediocre (the Afghan flatbread was awful- had zero flavor and came with watery sauce that maybe had a drop of yogurt in it , also cilantro doesn't belong with these flavors- it was so out of place). The ambiance is cool and the service is good. I found that all 4 drinks I tried were a little too sweet. The smokey ones were too Smokey and tasted like a chimney. My husband and I just didn't find anything special about this place when you compare it to really nice cocktail bars. I agree with Catherine S.'s review below. The drinks tasted a bit artificial and some had things for presentation that added nothing to the drinks- like mine had strawberry "bubbles/foam" but it tasted artificial and came on the side of the drink, not on top of it- it was just weird. This place tries hard and I see what they're going for but having been to many top tier cocktail lounges this one just falls flat. read more
