I came here for a light drink and to listen to the live music. I love how they share patios with the neighboring shops that close at night, allowing for more seating outside. I thought the jazz was great, and the drinks were light. Fries were just ok, nothing special, so I'd probably pass on them next time and try an actual appetizer instead. Staff was super kind! I eat alone on business trips and I'm always happy when staff doesn't automatically try and seat me at the bar, but instead offers me a table. read more

My wife and I came by to Edwin Mills a few Mondays ago to redeem our SGV passport deal. I believe you must have reservations to dine in and we had them for around 6pm. The locations had a great atmosphere and energy. I believe Mondays has a great happy hour menu per the server and live music. We came to here specifically to redeem the deal a BOGO appetizer and drink. The waiter was fine and explained briefly what we could or for a proper redemption. He was nice, but redeeming the deal can be a bit confusing on which menu of drinks you can choose from. Either way we were taken care of and food was great. The location is a small space inside but seating is unique as the booths have pillows. The food we ordered were the Crispy Brussel Sprouts and The Braised Pork Belly along with our 2 drinks. The appetizers were delicious! That pork belly was juicy and crispy. It had an explosion of flavors. The Brussel sprouts paired nicely. The texture and flavors were awesome. I'd recommend both! Love love love this place. I'm not in the area too much so it took a second to find out where to park but it's walking distance from the parking structures. I didn't have a reservation but they were still able to seat us. It became a community table but that's fine. They had a band right outside playing mellow music. They weren't too loud to where you couldn't enjoy or hear your conversations. The wait staff was amazing. Fun vibes all around. The drinks were spectacular! I ordered off the menu. We had this amazing server named Vanessa and she had the best customer service. She made a great recommendation for my buffalo chicken sandwich and it was delicious. She was also just super friendly. Both were very fresh and my favorite was the one with the berries. The beef taco was also pretty good as it had a lot of flavor. I was disappointed in the fish taco and also the pasta dish. Both were lacking in flavor but I was extra disappointed in the fish as it didn't taste fresh. Excellent gastropub in Pasadena when it comes to food, service and ambiance. We got the calamari and pork belly as appetizers, and I really enjoyed both for the quality of ingredients they used. The calamari was pretty thick, and that made for a more chewy texture. It's probably some of the thickest calamari I've had. The pork belly also had a nice texture, and it wasn't too dry. We also got the salmon steak and short rib tacos. The short rib was excellent, and it makes me want to get their short rib main course on my next visit. It was prepared with the right amount of seasoning and garnish, and even with a lot of contents, the tortillas still held up well and nothing fell apart. We ended the night with the Nutella cheesecake, and I liked that it wasn't too heavy compared to other cheesecake I've had. I especially loved the crust underneath. The only thing that was a miss for me was the Ho'chata cocktail, as it tasted too much like cough syrup. They did have a lot of other cocktails that I'd be interested in trying on another visit. read more

Solo dining one Friday evening. Had a wonderful time on the outside patio, seated close to the band. Black and Blue Burger with fries, aioli and a cocktail. Server was genuinely friendly and observant without lingering too much. Couldn't ask for more. Burger I had with blue cheese was tasty. Now - there is a bbq joint with the smell of smoke and meat not far from here so if your goal is an amazing burger then probably that place because what can be better than some smoke on a burger? But I was equally interested in vibe and experience. And this looked like the place. Live music from a band of musicians who know a thing or two about life, and have a fantastic R&B old school set! Diners enjoying the music and the show, just like me. People walking by, stopping to dance. And quality food. As a solo diner I didn't feel awkward or left out. I felt apart of the experience. Our server was very nice and helpful but we were sitting at our table for about 10 minutes before anybody came over. The table was also missing place settings until the food came and was slightly dirty. Food started coming out quickly but was quite scattered. For example we had finished all of our entrees and had been sitting chatting for about 10 minutes before our last starter came out. The grilled chicken added on to the simple greens salad was very yummy and well-cooked. My friend said his back and bleu burger was slightly underdone. The spicy calamari was quite rubbery/chewy and needed salt. The crispy brussel sprouts were a bit underwhelming. However the baked Brie was very good. If you're looking to nurse a pint and contemplate life, it's perfect. If you're actually hungry, you might start eyeing the table decor. ​We sat down for an early dinner and the food was a mixed bag. Ordered Apps. Popcorn chicken and onion rings. They were what was expected as far as flavor. ​The Shepherd's Pie was a little devoid of seasoning. ​The House Burger was okay. It won't offend you, but it certainly won't make you write home about it. ​The Short Rib was the almost the lone survivor and hero of the evening but there was a tragic error. Serving warm flavorful meat on cold, old risotto is a bold move...and not in a good way. At least the price was right (shoutout to the BOGO passport). If you decide to visit I suggest making reservations. We sat outside and it was fine but cars and motorcycles deice down the alley and it could be loud or smelly. Had the pork belly, breaded jalapeño with cheddar, old time burger and the damn good good short rib. The pork belly was okay. It had a vinaigrette sauce drizzled on it and I think it would have been better to use citrus base sauce. Everything else came out fine. Service was quick and friendly. Tired the popcorn chicken (surprised to see Asian seasoning and not spicy) and spicy calamari (also Asian seasoning and the way they cut it is often seen in Asian restaurants, but not spicy). For drinks, had the mezcal and papa noels margarita (tequila but kinda sad I didn't like the candy thingy and wasted it). Would get the Mezal again. FYI if ur an alcoholic (no judgement) there's bottomless mimosas starting at $18 (brunch entree req.) Tried thats a lot of protien $19 which was a steak and eggs plate with brussel sprouts and potatoes as sides. It is a safe choice and fair priced. The braised short ribs chilaquilles $19 was very flavorful and the tortilla was soak with flavor but still had a bit of a crunch left! We found this place on the SGV passport but unfortunately they didn't let us use it because it was half off appetizers on Mondays. You'll have to pay full price on appetizers & purchase 2 speciality alcoholic drinks even though it doesn't specify in the book. We ended up staying anyway & tried 8 dishes. We enjoyed the popcorn chicken & brussel sprouts. The wings & sliders were over cooked. The cranberry baked Brie didn't have honey even though the description said it came with "yummy warm honey." They forgot our sliders so we had to ask for it twice. The oh fancy salad was dry, they forgot the vanilla bean vinaigrette & candied walnuts & I had to ask for salad dressing. We waited a long time, the waitress never apologized & seemed annoyed with us even though it's not our fault. The pad Thai and chicken fried rice was ok, not bad but not great. They never bothered to refill our waters, we had to ask 3x and they finally gave us water after we paid the bill. We will definitely not be returning. The bar manager with the long gray beard, whom we later learned was Felix Chavez, was incredibly rude and dismissive toward my friend and me during our visit today. My friends and I have been here many times before. We have always been respectful to the staff, treated our servers kindly, and tipped well, which made today's experience especially disappointing. On previous visits, Felix and a few of the bartenders have given us noticeably unfriendly looks, but we chose to brush it off rather than assume anything. Unfortunately, the way Felix spoke to us today crossed a line. Having worked in the restaurant industry myself for many years, I understand that staff deal with difficult situations and customers every day. However, I cannot imagine speaking to a customer the way we were spoken to today--especially while in a management position. A manager should set the standard for professionalism and hospitality, not make paying customers feel unwelcome or disrespected. It was also difficult not to wonder whether being young women played a role in the way we were treated, particularly given the pattern we have noticed during previous visits. Regardless of the reason, no customer should feel belittled or unwelcome simply for walking into an establishment they have consistently supported. We have enjoyed coming here in the past, which is why this experience was so disappointing. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the way Felix and certain members of the staff interact with customers. read more

Came for happy hour with a coworker. Drinks were good! She ordered a salad that was awesome, I had soup which was decent but nothing spectacular. What stole the show was a fried goat cheese wheel that had blueberries in it. This came as part of her salad and I was oh so happy she shared. That won me over! The 4/5 stars is due to the soup was bland and needed basic salt and pepper. BUT the ambience of this place and those goat cheese wheels will definitely get me back through those doors. I went here with a friend on Thursday at five, she was told we could sit at the sofas on the right as you enter the establishment. I soon joined her and the only way we could get any of the many people walking by us again and again to offer any service was for me to put my hands up into the air and wave them back-and-forth. The first person we were able to stop walked by with arm loads of cleaning supplies. Don't open the doors unless you are ready to open. Do not open the doors unless you're ready to serve the customers that are going to keep you open. I will never return to this place. One of my best friends and I started coming here during the pandemic, because there was outside seating. The food was (and remains) so good that it was worth sitting in the cool outside air at a table in the alley (the alley is cute - I realize that sounded sort of seedy, but it's not!). Bonus because every time we came here and sat outside there was great people-watching. The restaurant itself is lovely inside. It is comfortable, and the staff are friendly. The only thing I've ever had here is the potato-wrapped snapper. I've been here at least a half dozen times, and each time I intend to try something different, but no. We were here to see some live jazz, and in my reservation, I asked for a seat where we could see the band. They placed us across the alley at a table (they have a bunch of tables there, kind of like a patio), and it was perfect. Beautiful summer evening, sitting outside with twinkling lights, sort of makes it feel like you're somewhere in Europe. The ambiance was amazing here. The food is pretty good - not super special or anything....except the snapper. When it says potato wrapped, it means POTATO wrapped. It was coated with what my partner called "angel hair hashbrowns", which were surprisingly light and crispy, and a HUGE bed of sweet mashed potatoes. And some garlic spinach. We also got the fried mushrooms (these come with ranch and was probably the least interesting dish - they just use plain ol' button mushrooms), and the fancy salad, which was pretty fancy, but I kind of found it a bit underwhelming. The fancy part is that they just throw in a bunch of berries, dried figs, candied walnuts, and some fried cranberry goat cheese (which might have justified the "fancy" in the name). But the dressing was kind of a simple sweet vinegarette, and I think it putting a little bit more innovation into the dressing would have made the dish sparkle. Parking in the Delacey lot - $2 for the first 2 hours, $1 each hour thereafter. Bathrooms are gender neutral and single-stalled. The jazz was great. And it was nice to see people walking through. First time trying this place, thanks to the SGV Passport. I went here on a Friday night with my bf and was seated right away. We ordered: The Bolognese was very meaty and savory. The sauce was rich and flavorful . The meat was tender and had just the right amount of seasoning, paired with perfectly al dente pasta. It was a comforting meal. The Pork Belly was a true showstopper. The skin had an amazing crispiness that contrasted beautifully with the tender, melt-in-your-mouth meat. The dish was balanced with a slight sweetness from the glaze and savory undertones that made each bite incredibly satisfying. Definitely a must-try! And the Mac & Cheese--wow. This was the creamy, cheesy comfort food everyone dreams of. The cheese sauce was rich and velvety, and the pasta was perfectly coated. Met up here for a birthday dinner with my girls and we had such a nice experience! Drinks were beautiful, food and service were excellent, and the vibes were relaxed and fun, especially with the live music outside - a really great meetup spot in Old Pasadena! For drinks our party had The Empress (gin cocktail), Lavish Hibiscus (tequila cocktail), Lola Fairy Berry (vodka cocktail), and a Pineapple Coconut Mojito. Their drink presentation was definitely gram-worthy - and our party loved all of them except the Lavish Hibiscus (too bitter). But they happily exchanged it for another choice (no charge for the untouched drink) - so definitely high quality customer service here! For food we shared a bunch of their appetizers - the Mac 'N Cheese, Crispy Brussel Sprouts, Breaded Zucchini, and some fries. Everything was plated beautifully and utterly delicious- especially the Brussel sprouts - they were my fave! Our server was fantastic as well - very attentive, helpful, and friendly - my water glass was never less than half full haha! The vibes are so cute too - sort of rustic, shabby-chic style with some really beautiful paintings hanging all over the walls and splashes of color to break up the wood theme - very Old Pasadena - loved it! Parking is nearby in one of the numerous public lots or on the street but that's difficult to find in Old Pasadena. *4.5* Had my first bottomless mimosas here on a Sunday afternoon. You're going to want to Uber because 1) bottomless and 2) the restaurant is in a quaint little side street and parking seemed far and hard to find. Their interior is on the smaller side and seemed geared towards more intimate groups. Our party of 5 was seated promptly across the way at a shaded table when we arrived, and our server was incredibly gracious and awesome at conversation while continually ensuring we had everything we needed. I believe you can only get bottomless if you order an actual dish, so i tried their bananas foster pancakes. The rum-flambeed bananas were well caramelized and the pancakes were decent, made better with the chantilly cream. Their parmesan fries and hash were also as good as they get. The mimosas were excellent - dare I say heavier on the champagne than I anticipated. Suffice it to say that my limits were tested that day on an assortment of flavors that just couldn't miss. My favorites included the French, which was a combination of two of the flavors (I forgot) and the lychee. I'm extremely disappointed with my experiences at Edwin Mills. The bar manager, Felix Chavez, was incredibly rude and condescending toward us, and what made it worse was the way his behavior seemed to be passed off as him just being "sassy." There's a big difference between being playful and making paying customers feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Unfortunately, it also didn't feel like an isolated incident. On multiple visits, other bartenders have given us looks and made us feel as though our presence was an inconvenience. The overall attitude behind the bar has made what should be an enjoyable night out feel so awkward and unpleasant. Good hospitality is about making guests feel welcome and respected. I really hope management takes a closer look at the way customers are being treated, because no one should leave a restaurant feeling belittled or judged by the staff and we have read numerous reviews saying the exact same thing. My go to is an elderflower lemon drop martini. The jazzy live music and dim lights set the tone for a mellow night out or intimate date night. My cousin and I tried Edwin Mills for the first time yesterday and it was great! We went on a Monday where most drinks and appetizers were half off! We sat at the bar for a couple hours drinking and having some appetizers. Loved it all. Felix was helping us behind the bar and he was super nice. Gave us some history about the building that was very cool. The building is beautiful inside and It used to be a horse stable back in the late 1800's. We enjoyed his drinks and chatting with him.
