Ordered their matcha parfait with red bean, rice balls, and matcha pudding and it was delicious! Good size to share with up to 2-3 people. I'm not sure if it's just me, but I feel like I enjoyed this location more than the one in Seattle. There are plenty of indoor seats to hang out with friends. However, it does seem to get a little loud sometimes for anyone coming by to work or study.
The matcha mochi parfait was absolutely delicious and the perfect afternoon treat in this crushing heat. The dessert was intricately layered with vanilla soft serve, matcha ice cream, cornflakes, red bean paste, mochi, and whipped cream. The combination of flavors and textures was phenomenal, so much so that I would unquestionably get the same parfait again and again. ****************** My Ratings: 1 Star: Terrible; just thinking about it makes me angry. 2 Stars: Wasn't a fan so Not likely to return. 3 Stars: Meh. Average. Might return if others drag me. 4 Stars: Yum! Likely to return. 5 Stars: Amazing! Would plan my day around it.

Great place in Old Pasadena. Excellent for lunch. They have a variety of dishes to choose from plus a big menu of Matcha related items. I got salmon and rice. It came with a veggie soup and some sauce. They also have curry and salads to choose from. You order at the kiosk, which can be annoying when the line is long but goes fairly quickly. Grab a beeper and enter the number, pay and find a spot to sit. They bring the food to you. It is worth a try if you love matcha because they serve matcha soft serve.
Cute matcha dessert shop with lots of choices. I was debating if I wanted a parfait but opt for the matcha frappe with a scoop of seasame ice cream and it was perfect. Also tried their chicken katsu that comes with rice and miso soup. Everything was very yummy and good portion size. You ordered at the kiosk when you enter and wait for the buzzer to pick up your order.
Simply divine matcha! If you love your matcha on the sweeter side, you can't go wrong with Nana's Green Tea. I love matcha, especially wen it has the umami flavor, but once in a while I'd indulge in the sweeter side of things. The Matcha Soft Serve with Warabimochi balances a mildly sweet taste of the soft serve with the nuttier Warabimochi. But if you really want to treat yourself out, go for the Matcha Warabimochi Parfait. There's so much going on here that each bite is a new tasty discovery! You have matcha jelly, Warabimochi, cereal flakes, and more!
First time trying a Japanese parfait and was pleasantly surprised. I didn't think the price point was too bad, but again, I'm not the best person to talk to about what's a reasonable amount of money to spend on a sweet treat and this certainly seemed like an essential purchase after a long day in the field (walking around in LA). We ordered a Hojicha kinako mochi parfait and black sesame milkshake to share. Both were ordered through the touch screen kiosk at the front. You also select your own buzzer, manually input the number, find seating, and pick up your order when the buzzer informs you it's ready. Pretty seamless and efficient system. I would come back to try their other parfait options, but don't think the milkshake was doing much for me. I didn't like that they put a bunch of full ice cubes in it instead of blending them into the beverage directly, and the red bean also added more grittiness than necessary to an already gritty beverage. The red bean in the parfait, however, was a very welcomed addition and arguably one of my favorite ingredients next to the hojicha. We walked by this spot multiple times throughout the day on our way to different destinations and it seems to have steady, but not insane foot traffic, so don't worry about having to wait in a long queue. Seems like the social media hype has calmed down and their business is going strong, but at a reasonable level. Our visit was also on a weekend, if that helps.

There's a little station on the side where you can be your own barista and add sweetness to your liking. My friend got the hojicha chocolate and said it was delicious too! Both had a really nice tea flavor without being bitter. Such a nice refreshing drink on a HOT summer day!
Nana's has officially landed in LA! I've tried Nana's in Washington and Hawaii, so I'm definitely already an established fan. On this particular visit, we got a Matcha Warabimochi Parfait and a Hojicha Warabimochi Parfait. They feature pudding, syrup, soft serve, corn flakes, ice cream, red bean paste, warabimochi and and whipped cream. Two tall glasses full of deliciousness. Every layer is an amazing surprise that keeps getting better and better! I'd say that their parfaits are my favorite things off the menu. This location is super spacious with plenty of seating- bars and tables. Everything feels bright, open, and airy. A great spot for coffee, lunch, chit-chatting, and everything in between!

A welcome addition to Old Town Pasadena, the space is modern, clean, and spacious, with plenty of room to enjoy their unique matcha and hojicha offerings alongside savory dishes. My friend and I stopped by to try their signature parfaits, which come in flavors like matcha, hojicha, and black sesame, each layered with a variety of toppings. I ordered the Hojicha Warabimochi Parfait, featuring hojicha jelly and brown sugar, vanilla soft serve, corn flakes, hojicha ice cream, red bean paste, warabimochi, and whipped cream. This was my first time trying a Japanese parfait, and I was definitely impressed by how beautifully the combination of flavors and textures came together. A self-service kiosk is available at the front for placing orders. After you grab a number, the workers are quick to get your order out.

Wow! I've had a few parfaits in my time, but this place is parfait-ly on another level! Every single layer was so tasty, it was honestly layer upon layer of deliciousness. We ate it all so quickly! It was nice to have such a comfortable and spacious place to catch up with friends while enjoying such tasty treats. Definitely can't wait to come back for another one!
It was pretty crowded when I went there, so it was loud (hard surfaces). The closest parking lot was $12 flat rate for the day. There are some side seats but the majority of the seats are a communal table. The hojicha was super delicious and would highly recommend getting it if you are close by. (this part is 5 stars) One of the workers was nice and helpful, another was kind of rude when I asked where the water was.

This place has an amazing experience. The atmosphere is so soothing, the food is amazing, and the service is so nice and refreshing. The restaurant was so clean, so relaxing and feels very welcoming. Food was the highlight though. I ordered a Chicken Karaage... and didn't expect it to be literally fall apart tender. Made a lil' pit stop here the other night right before closing because I was cravin' mochi and Nana's Green Tea has been in my bookmarks for a coo min. now ~ also I saw on their IG they have mont blanc topped desserts for the season and that's my favorite sweet so you know I had to! The space is massive, I was lowkey shocked at how huge it was lol they must be killin' it. Lots of seating and probably outlets as well because a decent amount of customers were on their laptops. I was just doing take out, but if you wanted to you could probably sit a party of 20 here, easily ~ Lighting inside the space was chill, not too bright or blinding and like I said, it was spacious so you wouldn't feel cramped or invaded eating here. Restroom was down the hall, out the back door - seemed to be shared with other establishments but it was clean. Very simple ordering - peruse the menu on a kiosk and wait to be called. I got the Matcha Mont Blanc Parfait and the Black Sesame Warabi Mochi Parfait TO GO. Yes I drove with these parfaits for half an hour before trying them so they were a bit melted and didn't look their best but they were still on point with the flavors and textures. My only critique is that the matcha ice cream could have been a lil' less sweet but that varies from person to person, it was still decent. The mochi was great, the jelly was fun to eat. Haven't had corn flakes in years - felt like a child again. The black sesame paste looks hectic in my photo, but it had a very pleasant flavor. Noice. I would like to come back and try their matcha beverage. The Parfait made me miss my regular 10 hours of sleep but it was worth it. I'll say YES to Nana Green Tea; YES I RECOMMEND. read more

Also you can self order and receive a beeper and wait for your food to be made. The bathroom is all the way in the back though so it's quite a walk you will get your steps in! :) read more

Dined in on a friday evening at 5:00 PM. It wasn't busy at all. You order through a screen on the side. Thank goodness for free parking after 5:00 pm. Desserts ordered: 1. Matcha parfait (seasonal) - 3.5/5 - it tasted good but for $18, I am not sure if this is worth it. The parfait looked really pretty, but over time it looks messy. I did enjoy the jellies inside. 2. Matcha soft serve - 4/5 - really good! I loved the soft serve! They added honey and two mochis. For me the mochis are too sweet and the honey isn't needed. read more

Parking is available in a nearby parking structure or on the street. Finally got to try this spot, and I was pleasantly surprised by how clean, spacious, and modern it was. Great for large parties as well. We ordered through the kiosk, grabbed a number, and seated ourselves. Once your order is ready, the buzzer will go off, and you'll pick up your desserts/food yourself. We ordered the matcha and hojicha soft serves with cone on the side, and both were delicious. I personally preferred the hojicha because it had a deep, roasted flavor that was unique and really stood out to me. The cones were also fresh and crunchy! After finishing, you'll need to return your tray to the designated return area, where a staff member greeted us and took care of the tray and trash. Service was quick and efficient. Great menu with lots of options for drinks and desserts but the savory offerings were more limited. Ordered the Sukiyaki Don bowl with thinly sliced beef, leek, shimeji mushrooms, tofu in soy sauce broth, soft-boiled egg, and rice. The bowl was good but came with mostly rice. Wished there was more beef and sauce to go with it for the price. They forgot the egg so they gave it to me on the side. Comes with a cup of miso soup which was excellent. Enjoyed it even on a hot day. Nice open space with lots of seating inside. We walked right up to the cashier, no line on a Friday evening. Appreciate the cashier answering all our questions about the food and giving us her recommendations. Will need to come back and try their desserts. The black sesame mochi parfait looked so good. read more

Rounding up from 3.5! I'm familiar with Nana's Green Tea as I've visited the (franchised) location in Seattle. However, this Pasadena location is the first company operated. We had the: *Black Sesame Warabimochi Parfait (Black sesame pudding, sesame ice cream, vanilla soft serve, corn flakes, sesame bean paste, warabimochi (jelly mochi), whipped cream) - I honestly like the green tea one better but it was late so I wanted no caffeine. I also should've ordered the mochi version as the warabimochi was just OK. *Sukiyaki Don (thinly sliced beef, leek, shimeji mushrooms, tofu in soy sauce broth, soft boiled egg, rice) - this was very tasty - not as sweet as I expected it to be in a positive way. However, $17 is pricey for what it was. It did also come with a side of miso soup! So net net, I'll be stick with the matcha options here moving forward. I am willing to try more of the savory menu but my sweet tooth would rather have dessert. Street parking or structure parking and a small walk as per usual in Old Town Pasadena! read more

I had this in Seattle and missed it so bad for years- even in Japan no matcha parfait I ever had compared to this.. When I heard they were opening a location in Pasadena I was genuinely overjoyed. I came to Nana's Green Tea in Pasadena after the hype had calm down. This is Nana's Green Tea's first company-owned cafe in the US. You order via a kiosk. We got the curry katsu-don (breaded pork chop rice with curry sauce ) and the sukiyai don (sweet and savory beef bowl). I wish the rice dish was hotter temperature wise. It was a bit cold. I prefer my rice dishes hot. I got the regular iced matcha with oatmilk and it tasted fine. To be honest, it wasn't better than any other matcha I have had at a reputable coffee/tea shop. The food was ok too. I also got the green tea ice cream with rice balls and red bean in a waffle cone. The rice balls weren't very soft. This was also kind of underwhelming. The cafe is cute and the concept is also endearing. The food, drinks and desserts all landed a bit flat. Don't expect exceptional green tea or really yummy Japanese food. Go in expecting average food and drinks, then you won't be disappointed! The ambiance is ok too; not modern or inspiring or Japandi (which I was hoping). It is simple and causal. Some of the tables were kind of dirty because it is a self-service concept. You have to put away your own dirty dishes and trays as well at the end. I recommend they have more servers going around to wipe down the tables after guests leave. read more

We came on a Sunday during lunch time - it was quite busy with people waiting for their order and lining up to order. You can order through a kiosk or with the cashier. We waited about 15-20 minutes in line. The cashier handed us a pager and we went to look for a table to sit at. We were lucky to find a table for 2, they encourage you to stay no more than 60 minutes but I don't think a lot of people took that into consideration as I saw many families / bigger parties staking out for spots. We ordered a pork katsu curry, karaage, brown sugar matcha latte, and the chocolate crunch matcha frappe. I love how fresh the food was! Our pork katsu had a light crunchy fry to it and the curry flavoring was on point. The rice was also well made which brought the dish together. I absolutely love the karaage here, it wasn't overly greasy and the batter was nice and light! I do wish there was some kewpie mayo on the side to dip it with but the lemon provided acidity to cut the rich flavors of the thigh. I tend to enjoy a stronger matcha and Nana's gives just that! My partner enjoys a sweeter / lighter matcha so he wasn't a huge fan of his brown sugar matcha. I'm so curious to know if they sell the chocolate crunch they put on the matcha because it provides such a great texture piece to the frappe. Parking: If you're lucky, street parking, but if not - We parked at the parking structure south of Raymond between Colorado & Green - first 2 hours is $1.00! It's about a 5 min walk to Nana's. Overall, their food selection is limited but is made fresh and delicious. If you enjoy a stronger matcha, go for it! I'm coming back next time to try their parfaits. read more

Finally made it here, and Im so glad I did. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating. You can order at one of the self-service kiosks or directly with a staff member. Since a family was using the kiosk when we arrived, one of the employees happily took our order. She was friendly, patient, and answered all of our questions without making us feel rushed. I ordered the chicken katsu curry, and it was a solid choice. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside while staying juicy inside, and it came with a comforting bowl of miso soup. They are incredibly generous with the rice--seriously, it's a huge portion! My only minor critique is that I would have loved a little more curry to match the amount of rice. We also ordered a side of potato salad, which ended up being one of my favorite bites. It was creamy, flavorful, and the portion was large enough to share. To drink, I had the matcha cream latte. It comes unsweetened, but there's a convenient self-service station stocked with simple syrup, utensils, napkins, and to-go containers so you can customize it however you like. One thing to note is that it's a self-bus restaurant, so after your meal you'll return your tray and dispose of your trash. I had every intention of ordering one of their gorgeous matcha parfaits, but after finishing my meal, I simply didn't have the room. Delicious Japanese desserts here! My friend and I came here for dessert after dinner and our experience here was great. We shared two of the parfaits: -Matcha Mochi Parfait: Our favorite of the two parfaits we shared. I admire that you can actually taste the matcha flavor here and it's not diluted. I loved the soft and chewy texture of the mochi pieces. -Black Sesame Warabimochi Parfait: This one was great as well and I enjoyed the nutty sesame flavor. The warabimochi was also chewy and nice to eat. I enjoyed the different textures and components in both parfaits. Everything went together from the crunchy cereal to the bouncy jellies. Great desserts for sharing and the pricing is pretty decent. We went later at night, so we didn't need to wait in line and our order came out relatively quickly. We were also able to score a table and chairs easily. They have a self-serve station for water, utensils, simple syrup, etc. which was nice. Amazing! First time here and it did not disappoint. Ordered a matcha vanilla swirl soft serve and it was really good 4/5! Nothing out of the ordinary but still it was good. I ordered a "sundae" I forgot what the actual name it was but it was matcha ice cream on top with mochi, corn flakes as the second layer, vanilla soft serve as the third layer and matcha jello at the very bottom. The first or top layer was okay, just matcha ice cream, not sweet just the way I like it. The mochis were bland, honestly tasted like rice cake, I don't know if that's what they were going for or just for the aesthetic. Second and third layers were the star of this "sundae" which were the corn flakes and vanilla soft serve. By themselves they are good but together, just wowww! The last layer, which was the matcha jello, it was something new for me and not sweet as well and I really enjoyed it. By themselves they are enjoyable but mixed in with the vanilla soft serve, it took it up a notch. Overall I give this place a 4.5/5! Such a great matcha spot in Pasadena. Highly recommend. Definitely have to rave about their katsu curry. Their curry reminds me of Mr Curry. The katsu was crispy and was so delicious coated in a curry gravy. Their curry isn't spicy, but rather sweet. I would go back more often, but it's a little expensive, especially when you add a matcha latte to it. There's street or many structure parking to get here. There's a kiosk! You input your beeper device number then find a seat. Seating is limited to an hour. There's plenty of seating but I can see how it'll get pack. It's really chill inside and casual. It's a good place for a meetup with friends or doing some work. The staff seem nice and the order was ready fairly quick. I got the matcha latte, it's unsweetened by default but you can add syrup pumps to your liking. The matcha soft serve was pretty good! Just sweet enough but still getting the matcha taste. It'd return again. read more

This place has been on my list to try and I was so excited to see no line! I ordered the matcha parfait and an iced matcha latte for both my husband and I. Once you order, you head towards the dining room area where there is plenty of seating. I really enjoy the large windows that let in so much sunlight! The matcha parfait was to die for and probably my favorite thing on the menu. The crunchy flakes was such a nice contrast to all the creamy goodness in the parfait. However, I was pretty disappointed by the iced matcha. It tasted watered down and not very strong. I do want to try some of the other items on the menu but might stay away from the drinks. read more

Tried both the hojicha and matcha parfaits with the warabimochi and it was absolutely delicious! It's been a few weeks since I last tried their matcha but this was splendid I had to update the stars. The wait times definitely have gone down, we ordered this and within 10 minutes they were ready. Highly recommend, the flavors were great, the cereal was my favorite part I love a good crunch. More people just studying and eating lunch around. Overall a cute must try spot in pasadena! Will update once I try their curry next time. read more

Ive gone here twice in a little over a week because its so good and wanted to show it to an out of town friend. The food is delicious. Ive gotten the chicken curry and salmon rice bowl and both were good. The parfaits are delicious! I got the hojicha one and the other time I got a hojicha mochi float, having the simple syrup available ro sweeten as we choose is a great option. And everything comes out quickly. The readon for 4 stars instead of 5 is that there is only one kiosk for people to order, so if a group is taking a while it will cause the line to back up. read more

6/10/2026 4 1/2 Stars - 1/2 Star taken off for the Hojicha Float with Mochi. It was not worth the price. MATCHA MOCHI PARFAIT (Matcha pudding, syrup, vanilla soft serve, corn flakes, matcha ice cream, red bean paste, mochi and whipped cream) Been craving matcha parfait and it delivered! Love that it was served in a parfait glass, love the layers and different textures in the parfait. However, one small critique and comparison to Kansha Creamery's matcha parfait is that NGT's matcha ice cream lacks in matcha flavor and it's not as rich nor as creamy as Kansha Creamery. But NGT does have a good serving portion of the matcha parfait than Kansha Creamery. Nonetheless, I did enjoy it. HOJICHA FLOAT WITH MOCHI (With a scoop of hojicha ice cream and mochi) This was very disappointing. Not sweetened, so you have to add simple syrup that is provided at one of the stations. Regretted ordering this. It was not worth the price! The hojicha flavor wasn't bad, but as an ice cream, it was not creamy nor sweet like an ice cream should. It was more of an icy ice cream. Also, everything was redundant in this dessert. Iced hojicha with hojicha ice cream. Everything all tasted one note without any variance in this dessert. The mochi was good, but because it is a neutral flavored rice cake, it didn't add any flavor to the dessert. SELF-ORDER KIOSK There is only one kiosk to use, which is bad when there's a long line. However, it wasn't busy the day I went, so no wait time. You can also order at the front register if there's any issue using the kiosk or in case of a long line. When ordering at the kiosk, take a buzzer, add the buzzer number before checkout. Print out a copy of your receipt too, just in case. CUSTOMER SERVICE Very friendly and attentive service! Staff were nice all around. The woman ahead of me had issues with the kiosk, so the staff let us know that they could also ring up our order at the front register. Also, she was helpful all throughout the kiosk checkout process. AMBIANCE / TABLES & SEATS Love the casual ambiance. As soon as you walk in, you'll see the kiosk on the left and the staff at the front register. It is bright with minimal decoration. Clean tables. Variety of tables: Tables for 2, tables for 4, communal tables, bar seats as well. You simply place your order at the kiosk and pick a table and wait for your buzzer to ring. It is a self-service restaurant, where you pick up your own food and clean up afterwards. It's a good place to hang out. It wasn't noisy either. No loud music. PARKING Street parking is available if you want to drive around looking for the perfect spot. Good street parking is not easy to find in Pasadena and it's best to park in a parking garage. I parked at School House Garage at 33 E Green St, Pasadena, CA 91105. Rate is $1.00 for the first 2 hours. $2.00 for each additional hour. $12 for daily parking. It is a close walk to NGT. My experience was good, I will return for the parfaits. I might try their savory foods too. read more

Not busy before 11am on Sunday but definitely busy afterwards. Took about 5 minutes for the food to be ready. 1. Matcha parfait with mochi 2. Hojicha parfait with warabimochi Both were okay. Mochi is a slightly too chewy. Warabimochi was fine. The jelly in both were bland but that's how it usually is. Ice cream was good. Place is a bit far. I was super excited for nana's to open in Pasadena but this drink disappointed me... maybe they're still in opening trial but the drinks were really grainy. For the matcha latte, had to add a lot of sweetener on the side to make it drinkable. The black sesame drink did not taste like black sesame. I had heard this place was really popular, so I came in with pretty high expectations. Every time I visited, I saw people ordering the parfaits along with the tonkatsu or chicken katsu, which made me curious. I have been here three times now, and honestly, I still do not fully understand why it is *that* popular. The staff have always been incredibly friendly, and the whole ordering and pickup system feels well organized. The space inside is also much bigger than I expected. It gets crowded, but when it is not packed, it is actually a very comfortable and spacious place to sit. The main issue for me is that the food and desserts did not feel especially memorable compared to the hype. The chicken curry tonkatsu was fine, but it tasted like something you could get at plenty of other casual Japanese curry places. The portion also felt a little underwhelming for the price. It came with a lot of rice, but not enough of the actual curry or katsu to make it feel like a strong value. I also tried the popular parfait, and that was probably the biggest disappointment. It looked nice, but all of the ingredients felt separate rather than working together. The mochi, cream, regular ice cream, and matcha ice cream each tasted fine on their own, but it did not feel like one complete dessert. The cone-shaped cup also made it awkward to mix everything together, so I ended up eating each layer separately. Honestly, I enjoyed the matcha ice cream by itself more than the parfait. Went to Nana's Green Tea with my cousin yesterday after seeing a video on IG, and I'm glad we finally tried it. I ordered the hot matcha brown sugar latte, and she got the hot black sesame latte. We also grabbed the matcha chocolate cake -- we meant to get the matcha burnt basque cheesecake but ended up with the wrong one.The cake was still pretty good. It's on the drier side and not sweet at all, but it actually pairs perfectly with the chocolate flavor. My latte wasn't sweet either, which I liked. My cousin's black sesame latte was very sweet, so she had to add water to dilute it. The service setup is simple and fully self‑serve. You order on a tablet, wait for your pager to vibrate, pick up your drinks yourself, and clean up your table when you're done. Overall, we both enjoyed the experience. Unique drinks, chill atmosphere, and even though it's a little pricey, it's worth trying. read more
