As soon as you get out of the car, the parking lot hits you with this wonderful aroma and you think to yourself "damn, I chose right." When you finally get your food and have been in there for a bit, you realize. You done f'd up. We were a group of 9. The service was horrible. They took their time getting our order; we had to repeatedly flag them down for refills on water and Banchan. What's worse is that we're in the heat of summer and it was hot in there. Our entire party was sweaty and my baby was overheating. I asked them if they had the ac on and they said they did. And I stared at them like "oh you kidding" and she just said she had her ac on. When I was about to leave I went to use the bathroom, you know what they had it set at? 80. Y'all 80 in the summer. This place is cheap and the service is horrible Top it off, the food was expensive and not good. The seafood pancake, I will say was pretty decent. However, we got the galbi jim combo and KBBQ combo. The galbijim was wrong. It tastes like what people who have never tasted Korean food thinks it tastes like (tangy and a bit sweet). It also looks like they cook it separately then they toss it into the dish. They forgot our steamed egg included in the combo. The Korean bbq that costs $50 is a couple of pieces. Came on a Friday night for dinner for 2 people. They have a large variety on their menu from tofu soup combos to short ribs and seafood soup. We opted to try their specialty combos, the stone plate pork belly BBQ which came with pork belly cooked at the table, seafood pancake and fluffy steamed egg. My favorite was the fluffy steamed egg, flavorful and tons of cheese. The seafood pancake was ok, it might have been a little undercook, could still taste the flour mixture but flavor is good. It's more green onions than seafood. The pork belly could use some more marinating since the meat was sorta tough. The meal came with 6 banchans. My favorite was the potatoes and the cucumber potato salad. The kimchi had a good flavor too. Pricing is on the high side like most Korean restaurants. Service was decent. They came to check on us. Hangang is located in a strip mall that is quite quiet.. at least for now, which makes parking easy and no wait. The restaurant did get busy by the time we left around 8pm on a Friday night though. This Korean restaurant has all the Korean dishes you would want from marinated crab to tofu to cold noodles to galbijim. I really like the variety, so we were able to get something we all enjoyed. Between the four of us, we ordered the Party Platter ($115), which included a medium Galbijim, Seafood Pancake, and Egg Soufflé. We also added a Cold Noodle Soup ($19.99) and Seafood Tofu Soup ($19.99). The soup portions were huge, so great for sharing. Also, I loved all the banchan, especially this braised potato dish that I found quite unique. While the galbijim was the signature dish, I found it a bit too heavy especially with the ricecakes and cheese we added. It's fun and entertaining when they blowtorch the cheese though, but probably not as needed. The flavor is good with rice, but I wish the meat was a bit more tender. For galbijim, I do think Sun Nong Dan does it better. But for having all the variety and all other Korean cravings, I'd come back to Hanging. They also offer some lunch specials too. read more

We arrived on Wednesday at 6 PM and were the only customers there. It's a nice and comfortable restaurant tucked away in a little hidden lot in Temple City. After placing our order, the sides came out, and I will say they were tasty and plentiful. (6 full sides!) Now for the food, we loved it. I got these. Brisket Seolleongtang - It was tasty, hearty, and refreshing. It does need salt since it was pretty plain, but personally I like it that way because I can adjust the saltiness to my own preference. (4.5/5) Galbi Seolleongtang - A must-get because the galbi was so tender and flavorful. Easily the best galbi I've had, hands down. (5/5) Overall, the service was really good and the food was solid. My friend and I came on a Saturday evening for a catch up meal and it was surprisingly not too crowded for a place that has been popping off on tiktok. Since it wasn't too crowded there were many seats available, and the service was top notch. The interior is very spacious, lots of seats with booths and also regular tables. The menu is a bit on the pricier side, but the portions are pretty big so if u come with a large group I would say it is pretty worth the price. we got the jeyuk bokkeum (spicy pork kimchi stirfry)! First time having this dish, and it was utterly delicious. The sliced pork belly was so yummy, loved that it was thinly sliced and the kimchi was so flavorful. This dish was soo good with rice. The sides here are also a little different than other Korean restraunts ive been to. they have this potato soy sauce dish and it was so good. I honestly am not a big fan of kimchi but loved their kimchi here. the kimchi was very fresh, crisp, and not too salty which I loved. all the workers here were very sweet and so nice and attentive. Found this hole in the wall tucked inside a small plaza of its own. The interior is clean with traditional Korean themed wallpaper decor. Server is super friendly and quick to service! Wrote this review after giving it 3 tries, trying almost 50% of the menu. And I have to say, each visit does NOT disappoint! Located in an obscure little plaza with plenty of parking, the restaurant was neat and clean with great service. It filled up quickly on a Saturday evening, but the relatively small number of tables and the seating arrangement was intuitive to attentive service! However, we unfortunately found the food a bit lacking. I made a reservation to try this place with my whole family for Mother's Day. We ordered the signature large pork galbi jjim, pancake platter, army stew, and dumpling rice cake soup. It was the perfect amount of food for five adults and one child. They also gave us five bowls of rice, even though we didn't really need/eat it (kind of a waste). To my surprise, the pancakes and the dumpling rice cake soup that we ordered for the child ended up being my favorites out of these dishes. The flavor of the galbi jjim was great, but it was such a shame that the marinade didn't fully get into the pork. Within that dish, the rice cakes and the outside of the meat were delicious while the inside of the meat was dry and flavorless. This might have been because the meat was too thick. The army stew flavor I found lacking, possibly because I also found their kimchi to be not salted enough. The sausages in there were flavorless. I was disappointed, since army stew is a classic that I always thought was hard to get wrong. We technically did also order a fifth dish, the bulgogi, but since they forgot the order until we asked when we were already almost done with the meal, we asked them to cancel it. Overall, it was a decent enough experience, but I probably wouldn't come back :( The price point is too expensive for the quality, and there is no shortage of good Korean food in the area. read more

For maybe two pounds of Bones in Short Ribs in a Pot Roast Style...it dont make sense....100 a pop? You could mix your own sauce...pears, ginger, scallions, mirin, soy sauce, sugars. Gochujang...mind you I didn't even bother looking up the recipe but based on the flavor profile, I'd assume those were the core ingredients before you kind of sauteed all the beef until blood starts leaking out of the bones.... Anyways, I left the place bittersweet. On one end, I'm really full... Potato Cheese Pancake that was a cross between a hash brown, mochi, and pancake drenched in Honeycomb syrup,...and a large plate of pot roast, which felt more like a Rice Cake, Potato Carrots Medley and some bits of Beef Ribs...sauce was minimal, potatoes were on the drier side, I just don't know what to say about the Galbi dish....it felt lacking, and at that price point unless you topped it off with gold flakes white truffles, I feel if I just made an entire pot at home, my friends would be more impressed. Overall everything taste wise was a solid 7.5/10. Ban Chans were well sourced. But factor in the price, book value to product ratio, id rate the score a 6/10. Service was solid. My final thoughts, I don't know who came up with the idea such a dish should be valued at 3x...maybe Sun Nong Dan....but if you ran a central kitchen, braised your own Beef Chucks and Beef Shanks in High Pressure Pot, I think you can easily reach the same results at 1/3 the cost, more people would be able to experience it, it can be served individually rather than in a group and you reach a vast bigger audience. While in town for a short work trip, a friend invited my wife and I for dinner at Hangang. We were able to get seated right away and it started to fill out shortly after. They have a variety of Korean dishes (soups, noodles, stews, stuff cooked a cast iron pans). The food was really good (particularly the kimchi tofu stew, the spicy squid and the soup with chicken and ginseng and herbs). We enjoyed our meal and our friend packed up leftovers. The food was pretty good, my main concern was while we were eating there was an unreasonable among of small flies/fruit flies that were flying around and flying toward and in our food. We were dining inside in an open dining area, the staff also seemed to have bug light/zappers by the front counter. It was also an exceptionally hot day that (90 degrees in the afternoon on a Friday afternoon in February), and they weren't like bigger bugs/pests so we kept on eating and completed our meal. While fruit flies aren't a big deal, I hope they improve that part and I would go again. read more

Came here to celebrate my brother's birthday with the family and we had a great experience overall. We ordered the royal galbijim, mix seolleongtang with added octopus, spicy cold noodle, and the seafood pancake. The food was honestly amazing. The flavors were rich and comforting, and the meat quality really stood out. I would even say the meat and seasoning were better than Sun Nong Dan. The royal galbijim was tender and packed with flavor. The only issue was that they forgot to include the octopus in the dish at first. When we let them know, they brought the octopus out separately, but it was just boiled. We had expected it to come back simmered together with the galbijim. It was still good, just not what we thought it would be. The mix seolleongtang had a nice, clean broth, but the meat portion was a bit sparse. We also had to ask for spring onions instead of them being provided from the start. Not a huge deal, but something to note. The spicy cold noodle was refreshing with a good kick, and the seafood pancake was crispy on the outside and soft inside, loaded with seafood. Service was amazing. The staff was attentive, friendly, and generous with the banchan refills. The ambiance is modern with nice decor, and it is quiet enough to have an easy conversation without feeling rushed or crowded. Parking is easy with a large free lot, which is always a plus in this area. Overall, despite a couple small hiccups, we had a great time and really enjoyed the food. Normally I'll have to drive all the way to ktown for soy sauce marinated crab. I was browsing on Yelp and came across this one nearby. I made a reservation for dinner, but they weren't busy at all on a Friday night. Well lit place, plenty of tables, and parking was easy to find. It was just two people and we ordered Soy Sauce Marinated Crab and Abalone Porridge. There were noodles that came with Soy Sauce Marinated Crab. Never had it like that before but I am not complaining! Salty and meaty crabs over rice...yum! Abalone Porridge was huge. Mellow, you can taste the sesame oil. Good on a cold day. Side dishes were different and I appreciate the variety. They taste better than most common side dishes you get at other Korean restaurant in the area. I love gold utensils instead of your typical silver ones. Utensils and napkins can be found at the side of the table, just pull out the drawer. The beef was also very tender and flavorful, not too sweet and had just the right amount of fat. I was craving Bossam and decided to try a new Korean spot, but we ended up loving everything except the Bossam! Don't get me wrong, it was still good, just a bit too fatty for our taste and only available in a large portion size. The real standouts were the flavorful banchan (especially the potato), the comforting galbi tang, the crispy potato cheese pancake, and the generous size bibimbap. We came early on a Wednesday evening and were the only customers, so the service was excellent. We ended up taking the leftover Bossam home, and after a quick run in the air fryer, it tasted better! My sister had been raving about getting bossam for weeks now so we finally went to Hangang today for lunch. Given that it was lunchtime on a weekend, I was a bit surprised it wasn't busy. They were able to accommodate our large party easily and service was great throughout the meal. This was my first time trying bossam so I didn't know what to expect. I liked the different items the dish came with but one of the sauces was extremely salty so I ended up eating the boiled pork, cabbage, and radish on their own without the sauce. We also got the royal tteokbokki which is essentially bulgogi, rice cakes, and stir fried veggies. I feel like there wasn't a lot of meat in it compared to the amount of veggies. For the kimchi fried rice, the portion was fairly large and it also came with shrimp. As for the banchan, there were 6 different dishes. Came here a couple weeks ago to celebrate my MIL bday. If you want a place that can accommodate big groups and has big portions, this is your place. First off be careful driving too quickly down Rosemead as this driveway is easily missed. Also the people who come out of this parking lot don't understand that you can't drive in the middle of the driveway when exiting. We nearly hit another car trying to turn in because they were trying to speed their way out. We had made reservations for 11 on a Friday night and hardly anyone was there. The restaurant started filling up more after we got there. The servers spoke Mandarin to some of the guests that walked in after us. The menu is a mixture of common Korean foods, Bibimap, Galbi jjim, bulgolgi, and cold noodle soups. After ordering they bring out the banchan, be careful, most of it is spicy. They definitely had some unique ones that you don't see often at other places. Like an apple/pear one that we thought was potato. Most of the food came out quite quickly after ordering. Portions are really big but doesn't mean it's tasty. We ordered the Large Galbi Jjim, Cold noodles, tonkatsu, assorted and seafood pancakes, royal tteokbokki, grilled mackeral, galbi seolleongtang. Everything was mostly bland, needed salt, or flavor. The tteokbokki was hard and tough. There was no clear description of what each assorted pancake was. The service was good. Came here on a Tuesday night for some dinner with family since we've been wanting to try this place for a while. Its located in a small plaza that is a bit hard to see unless you look carefully when driving by. But this is the only restaurant here so there's plenty of parking. It was pretty empty when we came so we got seated right away. They have a good amount of tables and the interior is nice. Their menu is not that big so it's wasn't too hard to decide what to order. We got the Galbi Seolleongtang (25.99), Bulgogi Bibimbap (21.99), Tonkatsu (19.99), and Yangji Seolleongtang (17.99). They were served pretty quick and they also gave side dishes. The side dishes were actually pretty good and has free refills. The bibimbap was alright, tasted like other bibimbap places. The Galbi seolleongtang has two large galbi in it and the soup and meat are nicely seasoned. As for the regular seolleongtang, it is on the bland side since you need to add your own salt and pepper. It also has some vermicelli with it. But the seolleongtang was pretty mid. The tonkatsu had some good sauce on it and was crispy and not too dry or hard to chew. But I have had better tonkatsu before. The portions are all reasonable for this price and economy though and we enjoyed it. I just thought the seolleongtang would have come with rice but I guess this place doesn't do that. I think this is an authentic Korean place to try since they do have a good assortment of soups and other entres to order. The only thing was I did notice some small gnats flying around while we were eating. It wasn't a lot but it did bother me a bit. Not sure who said it, but meals are magnifiers and hosting 15 people at Hangang proved it! The food was great, but the space is built for smaller groups. We spread out over two tables and made it work. Service was a little slow -- then again, we were 15 people laughing like it was a wedding banquet. Can't blame them for hesitating. Also, I had a conscientious Accountant as a co-host who was running back and forth, making sure everyone had their fair share. Should I check this place out? Yeah, if you're down for Korean comfort food that shows up sizzling and begging for a crowd to tear into it. Seafood pancake, crispy edges, loaded with squid. Basically the definition of "why share when I could eat the whole thing myself." Then again I'm not a huge squid fan. But my guests seemed to like it! Then galbi-jjim: tender beef sliding off the bone, potatoes drinking up all the sauce, the kind of dish that makes you wish for a mountain of rice. We doubled down with the spicy version, bubbling hot, packed with chewy tteokbokki, sweat-inducing but worth it. Banchan (kimchi, macaroni salad, glass noodles) made it feel like a proper feast. My guests tore into it. Deal sealed. Parking? That's the side quest. The lot is small and fills fast, so some of my guests ended up a little further down and hoofed it over. Date spot? Nah. Unless your idea of romance is fighting over the last rib. Better for a tight crew of friends or family who don't mind elbow room. Bottom line: Hangang serves comfort food you can feel in your bones. Comprehensive menu with a little bit of everything for everyone. Different soups, cold noodles, bibimbaps, galbijjims, and pancakes. Galbitang which was as expected (slightly more peppery than expected, came pre-seasoned). Cheesy Gamja Jun was one of the pancake options. Basically a giant cheese hashbrown. It came piping hot and crispy af. But after the initial first triangle and it gets a chance to cool down and lose that crisp, it gets realllly reallllly oily, to the point I had to dab it on a napkin and the napkin was translucent. Prob will come back to try more soups and pancakes and galbi jjims. Cold noodle, there were a couple varieties, I just got the plain one. It was fine but kinda disappointed it was with generic pickled radish slices rather than pears. The egg was also super overdone and borderline sulphurous. Parking is ok, it can easily fill up but also easy to miss the entrance of the parking lot if you don't know where the restaurant is located. read more

Stopped by here for some Korean food on our way back from Joshua Tree. We got some galbi tang and some mackerel. There was so much food - we could have just split the galbi tang and been totally fine, and the mackerel lasted us the entire next week. Service was great, and my partner really enjoyed the braised potato (she said it tasted like adobo, but with potato). Delicious. We came during Super Bowl Sunday, so the place was completely empty, although it filled up throughout our meal. read more
