My gfs took me here for my birthday this year and it did not disappoint! It was special because one of my friends that took me is Korean American and can speak fluent Korean. Had dinner with my friends here recently and I would definitely come back. We order 4 things: cheesy steamed egg (4/5), bibimbap (4/5), spicy pork (3/5), and. Braised beef ribs hotstone (4/5). The food did not come out all at once especially when we ask for it to be brought out at the same time. The service was ok but they kept asking if we needed anything repetitively so we couldn't really enjoy our food and catch with friends. This restaurant popped up somehow in my list. I had to check it out. I love the raw marinated crab. I wish it comes with two bowls of rice just for me because it was so delicious I ate all my rice. It comes with sea urchin, fish egg, and 5 pieces of thick sashimi salmon. The bossam was so so. I think $48 for that much is expensive. My boyfriend and I were craving Korean food so we decided to give Hanok a try. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with friendly service, which is definitely a plus. We brought our service dog peanut and they were very friendly about that. Let's get into the food. We order the braised beef short rib (m) and their Seafood Pancake. They quickly serve their delicious and fresh banchan. We love their variety. And then came the hot sizzling beef rib. We love the extra vegetables and glass noodle that was served with the fall off the bone short rib ribs. I do wish it was a little bit more spicy, but the flavor was great. Met up for lunch at this place for their special fresh blue crab marinated in special sauce. The bonchon was good. Not your ordinary Korean side dishes. They added extra stewed salmon(like teriyaki sauce). Goes very well with white rice. Also, very crispy fried salmon bites. The cabbage kimchi was so so Vit other side dishes were good. The main dish for us was the marinated raw blue crab. The meat was so sweet and easy to eat as well. Somehow, all the crabs that they served have abundant roe to make this dish more creamy and filling. Mix everything in the shell, also served as a shallow bowl, make sure to scrape all the stuff and eat it with white rice. The beef intestine soup was really flavorful. Also the spicy stirred fry squid had just enough flavors to go with or without white rice. As always, free refill on all side dishes. I've heard so much about this place and was actually pretty excited they opened a marinated raw crab spot out here instead of having to go to K-Town for places like Crab House or Master Ha. I want to start off by saying the banchan was just okay flavor wise, which I kind of expected since we're in the San Gabriel Valley they're probably making it more palatable for a broader Chinese/Vietnamese crowd. It didn't have that strong sesame oil, kelp, gochugaru, anchovy based depth you usually get. It was fine overall, but the bean sprouts were spoiled and hella sour. At first, I thought the soy marinated crab was expensive but then I realized for $89 you get two pretty big blue crabs, uni, salmon roe, four pieces of salmon sashimi, and silken tofu. The crab heads even come with quail egg which makes it a pretty fair deal. If you got this at Master Ha, the salmon and uni alone would be almost a $40 add on. It also wasn't as salty as other K-Town crab spots I've tried, which I liked. Overall, it was tasty and fairly priced thumbs up for that. The seafood pancake was also really good crispy, large portion, and packed with leeks. We were debating between the army stew and the intestine soup, but went with the intestine soup since budae jjigae is easy to make at home. Service wasn't bad at all, but one thing that stood out there was no guidance on how to eat the crab. Luckily, I already knew what to do (squeeze the meat onto rice, mix the crab head, etc.) because I'm a cultured big back but if it were someone's first time, they'd be completely lost. At most Korean crab spots I've been to, the staff will usually show you how to break it down, remove the gills, mix the rice, and check in if you need more banchan. That kind of service really elevates the experience, especially for first-timers. read more

Amazing place with super yummy food and generous portions! Highly recommend the bossom & bibimbap. Everyone on staff is so sweet. The place itself has a good amount of seating, but it probably would be a bit of a wait during peak hours. My cousins and I came here on a Saturday around 7pm. We, as a party of 3, were able to get seated right away! It also helped that we made reservations online that I booked earlier that day. The restaurant had a sweet mom & pop vibe - definitely a good place for families, dinners with friends, or even casual date nights. Checked out a new Korean restaurant in the SGV today called Hanok. They took over an old Izakaya place so the inside still resembles a Japanese restaurant. The server said they just opened about 4 months ago. We ordered the galbi jjim and seafood pancake. Medium galbi jjim was $65 and seafood pancake was $22. The galbi jjim had a lot of meat inside and different types of veggies and noodles. The sauce is different than what you would get at places like Sun nong dan as it wasn't too peppery or spicy. The meat was tender and fall off the bone. It had a bunch of flavor and small amounts of fat. The veggies that were inside were bok choy, carrots, mushroom, onions and sweet potato. It had rice cake, chewy glass noodles and cheese as well. We thought the flavor was good and it had a light sweetness to it as well. The Korean seafood pancake had a lot of scallions inside. It had chunks of seafood and the batter was thin making the sides crispy. The sauce was flavorful and paired well with the pancake. They give you 10 side dishes as well and we appreciated the variety. The server came back to check in on us to make sure our meal was going well. The food came out quick and there was plenty of parking in the lot. Can't wait to come back to try the other items here as they have raw marinated crab as well. read more

Meh. Came on a Saturday at noon and the entire restaurant was empty so that should've been the first bad sign. We looked at the menu and everything seemed super pricey and not very tantalizing. We ended up trying the seafood pancake and the galbi soup. The seafood pancake was greasy without much seafood and the galbi soup was flavorful but it tasted like too much artificial soup base stock and sugar. The banchan side dishes were also all very very sugary. The total for the two dishes came out to be $50-60. Very not worth it. as a local in the san gabriel valley, i was so happy that there was a korean restaurant nearby...but the restaurant/service could use a little more finesse. came here as a party of 7 and we were seated at a long table (2 tables put together). the server brought over the side dishes (banchan) and set it up on one side of the table. i asked for another set on the side where my husband, kids, and i were sitting and the server went to go tell the older lady (im assuming the owner) and i could hear her muttering to the server in korean "i already gave them a lot". then she came over and instead of bringing another set of banchan. she asked us what specific ones we wanted. putting us on the spot and not wanting to deal with it, i just chose 3-4 and she reluctantly brought them out. i've never experienced that ever at a korean restaurant. we ordered 4 raw fish bowls (hoedeopbap) and one bulgogi hotpot. there were issues with the gas range and the fire kept going out and we were told it was working fine. when they finally changed the gas cartridge after we asked them to for 10 minutes, the hotpot finally started cooking. by the time the hotpot was ready to eat, the other family members that ordered the fish bowls were finished with their meal. that was really inconvenient. the bulgogi hotpot was fine, but could use more seasoning. read more

Newest Korean restaurant in the SGV. They are located in a shared plaza with CVS and Tams Noodle House so it may be a bit tricky to find parking. I think it used to be a sushi restaurant before and they actually kept the sushi counter. Its nice to have options other than KBBQ in the SGV. We got their beef soup, spicy octopus, tempura and some drinks. Their banchan were great and the food was solid. Service was a tad slow as they were busy and there was only 1 server but its worth the wait. Would definitely come back and try some other items. read more

I was REALLLYYY craving raw marinated crab for the LONGEST time. This is the only place (i think) around this area you can get this so im glad it opened up. I didnt have to drive to ktown yess!! Me and my girlfriend were craving soup for dinner, but our normal spots were closed, or had too long of a wait. We stumbled into Hanok, and were greeted with a beautiful interior, and friendly staff. We were quickly given menus and hot tea (I believe barley tea?). We decided on galbi tang and seafood pancake. We also saw raw marinated crab and bosam on the menu, so we will DEFINITELY be back. The galbi tang was delicious, but my girlfriend believed it was too peppery ( I disagree but I digress). The short rib was tender, and seasoned very well. The seafood pancake was also very very good. Instead of how other places make their seafood pancake (with a bunch of batter), this restaurant gave lots of green onions, and plenty of seafood. This was our favorite amongst the things we ate. I love the braised beef short rib. It was soft and fell off the bone.The seafood jeon was good. It tasted homemade and was different than usual. I was not a fan of the miso salmom though. I felt like it was missing sauce. This place is a little bit on the pricier side. I loved all the different side dishes that it came with. A majority of them were different than usual. They had salmon skin salad, this sesame thing, this long veggie thing. Im not really sure what theynwere but the ladies were busy so it was hard to ask. Food is excellent. We tried the seafood jeon, steamed egg with cheese and braised beef short ribs for party of two. The braised beef short ribs are flavorful and big portion. We ordered medium and took half to go. Steamed egg looks deflated but still tastes good. Jeon is made to order. I liked it much more than seafood pancakes that other restaurants offer. Food also came out fairly quickly. Service is friendly too. There is no system yet for guests to sign in for tables. So it can be long wait and you need to pay attention if it is your turn. If you need anything, just flag down the nice ladies. Once you get their attention, no problem. Utensils can be dirty with food residue. I had to clean with napkins and hot tea. We came on Friday night at 7 so it was busy and bustling. Parking is open lot. There is also underground parking in the plaza. read more

Came by on a Thursday night around 6:30 PM and it wasn't crowded. Around 7:15 PM people started walking in and the place got busy. There was one server working the tables and taking orders. My friend and I opted for the marinated shrimp and marinated beef hot pot. The portion size of the hot pot was a lot for a party of two and the marinated shrimps were easily shareable. Taste wise, everything was good! The marinated shrimp had such nice flavor and wasn't gamey at all. The hotpot was filled with a decent amount of vegetables but not enough beef in my opinion. The soup paired well with the banchan and rice. There were a lot of banchan which was nice and the kind waitress let us know that everything is refillable. The place is well kept and the ambiance is nice for a casual dinner. The only setback is the price. Dinner for the two of us cost $100 and that was a bit insane. $35 for the marinated shrimps and $55 for the hot pot. I don't know if I'd be back. I saw a lot of people around us order the marinated crab but it was super expensive compared to the shrimps. read more

Wow! A newly opened Korean restaurant that serves raw marinated crabs! I'm so happy that I don't have to drive all the way to ktown now! To start, the banchans are all so good and I love that there are a few unique ones like the potato and the burdock root. We ordered one marinated crabs that came with salmon sashimi, bossam, seafood pancakes, and beef bone soup. The crab dish was so fresh and had a lot of crab roe. Adding the uni and the sashimi helped to justify the price. I do wish they had seaweed that I can make wraps with. The pancakes were multiple small pancake instead of one large pancake and I think that was better to share with the table. It was so crispy and it's cool that you can see the aunty in the back just cooking it up fresh. The soup was delicious and had a good amount of meat in it. The bossam, which came out last, was also very well flavored and not too fatty. Service was good and attentive despite only seeing one or two waiters. I would definitely come back! read more

As soon as we walked in, there was a very strong smell of cleaning solution that reminded me of a public restroom, which made the atmosphere feel unpleasant from the start. The restaurant was completely empty during our visit, and we were the only customers there. We contemplated walking out, but felt bad and decided to give it a try.  The banchan tasted like it had been sitting out all day and some of it even tasted spoiled. The soondubu pot initially looked impressively large because it was very wide, but the depth was deceptively shallow, so the portion ended up feeling much smaller than expected. The food overall was disappointing. It didn't taste authentic Korean, and the flavors felt more like Chinese-style cooking than traditional Korean cuisine. My wife wanted to eat octopus and this restaurant was the only option when i searched. We ordered donkatsu, spicy baby octopus, and short rib soup. When side dishes came out first, I could tell this would be one of the best Korean restaurants I have ever been in LA. The side dish quality is very good, and I see many of them are unique. Even Kimchi flavor was good so that my 7-year old boy ate most of them. Short rib was very tender, and my 3-year old boy ate a lot. (Usually he spits out when it is difficult to chew) Donkatsu was my favorite, and my first son said his favorite dish was the octopus. It seems everyone enjoyed everything. My wife took a photo of the name of this restaurant and wants to tell friends. I think this would be easily the best Korean restaurant in San Gabriel Valley. read more

This place is not big, but popular. While we were there, we saw many Korean customers came also. They gave more small dishes than many other Korean places. The kimchi was also spicier compared to many others I've tried. Now, the marinated raw crab was excellent. It was not overly salty, and absolutely perfect to squeeze the meat on rice and ate them together. Authentic & delicious! Hanok is truly a hidden gem. - Marinated Soy Sauce Crabs : perfectly seasoned, fresh, and filling. Was pleasantly surprised by the pieces of salmon and uni included in the dish. I am normally not a fan of raw crabs but this dish totally converted me. - Gamja tang : again, perfectly seasoned broth with generous portions of pork and potatoes. - Bossam : the pork was SO soft yet chewy. The cabbage & radish wraps, the spicy radish, and sauces complemented the pork very nicely. - Seafood pa-jeon : I loved how crispy it was! I also loved the generous amount of seafood while ensuring the batter wasn't thick. The dipping soy sauce that comes with it pairs perfectly. What struck me the most, other than the absolutely tasty food, was the care that the owner puts into each and every dish, including the banchan. You can literally feel their pride in the preparation and presentation of their meals. The servers were also attentive, patient, and so kind, even though our order was for take-out. This was the best braised short rib I e ever had. The single most delectable bite that I've had in weeks. Umami impact was incredible. Was so good I had to come back on delicious to write a review. Interior is cozy, comfortable. No frills. Can come in sweatpants and feel at ease. Service was slightly slow but there was only two wait staff on the night we went so hey, hunger is the best sauce right. They were kind. The banchan was good. The radish thing especially. We tried this place yesterday. It was honestly pretty disappointing. We ordered the Army Stew, Bossam and Tonkasu. Service was really slow. It took quite a bit of effort to get anyone attention and it wasn't even that busy. At least they were quick when it came to getting water refills. Army Stew was okay. A bit salty. Needed more noodles. Tonkasu was good. Bossam was okay. They gave us so little lettuce. We still had half a plate of pork belly left when we ran out of lettuce. We tried to ask for more lettuce but they wanted to charge us $8 which is ridiculous. The funny thing is that we didn't even get our banchan until we were half way done with our food. read more

I really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. When we walked into the restaurant, the whole place smelled like bleach or Fabuloso, felt like I was eating inside a public bathroom. We ordered gamjatang stew, which was supposed to be for two people. When the food came out, we were both shocked how small amount of meat there was. It had less meat than that of a single serving gamjatang. We asked the waitress, and the waitress talked to the owner, who didn't give a damn. The pictures are deceiving, since they put up some random pictures from the internet on their menu and on yelp, and cut the amount of meat in half when they serve it. The flavor was mediocre at best.
