Parking is easy and the inside is really nice, most of the tables seem set for parties of 4 so we were really comfy as a party of 2. We got the no. 2: Spicy Sundae Soup and the 24. Soondubu. All soups and stews come with a portion of rice and both were amazing, when it first came out we were a little worried that for close to $20 such a small bowl was coming out, but they truly hid mountains of meat under the soup's smooth surface. We reached a point of the meal where we could only spend it in complete silence scarfing past our limits because it was so delicious. Banchan is pretty simple, kimchi cabbage and radish, soybeans, and something else I couldn't tell but was really delicious. Service is nice though they seemed really busy with something I could not ascertain. And they have 2 TVs that were playing the Argentina v Switzerland soccer game. First time here at Moobongri Soondae. We ordered Gamjatang and Sulongtang. I love the fact that the broth flavor/ saltiness is adjustable and they provide you salt, pepper, gochujang, and little shrimp paste on the side. But my favorite so far is the seafood pancake. It's hella crunchy, not chewy / doughy, and they ain't cheap on seafood. Texture and flavor are on point. Parking was easy and servers are friendly. They have both indoor and outdoor seatings. It's family friendly. I am glad we have restaurants like this is SGV so we don't have to deal with Ktown craziness. read more

I've been to Moobongri a few years ago, and I was surprised I hadn't remembered. That experience must not have really stood out. I went again with some friends recently in the mood for kalbijjim and bossam. We also had two bottles of soju and bibimnaengmyeon. Parking is always easy here, as there's ample parking underground. The best part is it's covered too. For a Saturday night, the wait was about 30 minutes. The most underwhelming experience here has got to be the subpar service. After being sat, we noticed that other tables sat after us were immediately served. Perhaps it was because we were at the corner, but we really had to flag down a server after 20 minutes. This was a repeated experience too with side dishes. Our first dish to arrive was the spicy cold noodles. Adding to the slow service was the lack of scissors upon the arrival of this dish, which is nearly a must-have if you've eaten it before. Our next dish was the bossam, and we needed more lettuce and garlic. Thankfully, we were able to flag down another server to help us. Our kalbijjim, the star of the show, was last to arrive. Now complete, each dish was indeed tasty, a solid 4 / 5. However, the lack of service and attention really ruined the night. Other tables had staff members regularly check in on them, but our table did not. For a Saturday night with lackluster service like this, I really would rather eat elsewhere. read more

Me and my dad's go to spot for spicy nangmyeon (cold noodles) in the SGV. They also have a $11 special Galibitang for lunch. When I went to school in Berkeley, I tried the MooBongRi located in Oakland and thought that one was really good. I decided to try the San Gabriel location. However the menu is a little different. The Oakland location had this KILLER Korean fried chicken, whereas this one did not. Figured I try different menu items they offered. Service is quick and attentive. There's usually an open table when I go. Quaint little restaurant with seating outside as well. Very convenient lunch spot, as there is always parking available in the underground garage. Bossam, 8.75/10: came with pickled garlic which is a must. Gave a generous portion of pork and is accompanied well by the kimchi. Pork is seasoned well throughout. Spicy Nangmyeon, 9/10: my only complaint is that it could have a bigger portion of beef. Noodles are nice and chilled and they give a big scoop of gochujang, a little bit too much in my opinion. Noodles have a nice chew to them. Make sure to add the mustard and vinegar. Very refreshing bowl of noodles on a hot day. Steamed Egg, 7/10: no surprises here. The staff are nice and attentive even though we're outside. The menu has a lot of soups to try and combos so you can try a soup and a smaller meat item. I tried a seafood tofu soup with a small bossam combo and a yukgaejang. The mini bossam is the very size to share with another person. The soups were hot and flavorful. Moobongri Soondae is located in the same plaza as Yi Mei and My Little Paris Cafe with plenty of parking available. My husband and I decided to eat an early dinner here with our little girl dog on a Saturday earlier this month. What brought us here was that they were dog friendly, this place was also on my bookmark list and we were somewhat in the area. When we walked through the entrance (there is no back entrance if you dine in with your pup, it is all enclosed so you have to enter through the main entrance of the restaurant), we were greeted by an employee. I told him that we wanted to dine outside with our dog. He led the way to their seating outside and he handed us menus. While we were looking over the menus, he had set up the outdoor heater after we asked if we could have the heater on. We were also brought a pitcher of water and 2 empty cups. After looking over the menu, we ended up ordering: Banchan- Complementary. Only came with 4 types: 2 types of kimchi (one with cucumbers, one with cabbage), seasoned bean sprouts and seasoned sliced fish cakes. We did get refills but I am disappointed with the variety and wished there were more. #4 Spicy Pork Belly Soup, $19.99 prior to tax- My husband ordered this dish. I am not a spicy eater so I didn't have any but my husband liked it. It came with a side of rice. #36: Bibimbap, $20.99 prior to tax- I decided to order this. I had asked for this to not be made with gochujang since it is automatically added. So I was brought a side of some kind of brown sauce (with perhaps the base was soy sauce but it wasn't just soy sauce). I really liked this dish and found it to be filling. In general, this is one of those those go to dishes I usually like to order at Korean restaurants (and also tofu soups). The portion size really is perfect for 2 people. Extra side of rice, $1.99 prior to tax- We ordered the side of rice for our little girl (my husband ate part of it too). I am surprised that they charge for rice (although I already knew since it was listed on the menu). I've known about Moobongri Soondae for a while, given its convenient location in San Gabriel and that it is located near Yi Mei. I decided to go for lunch with friends one day so we could share multiple dishes. The restaurant is small but the seating is sufficient. The servers are very nice and attentive, and we got some complimentary tea and some ice to cool down the tea. The banchan is a bit sparse, but I liked the spinach. We shared a variety of dishes, including bibim naengmyeon, stone pot bibimbap, seafood pancake, and bossam. All the dishes were very solid. My favorite was probably the bossam. The naengmyeon was perfect for the hot weather, but tasted similar to other naengmyeon that I've had. The bibimbap was also fairly similar to other Korean restaurants in the area. Walked by this place a lot on way to Yimei but always a line on the weekend. So made a point coming early at 12 on a Saturday, no wait at all! Came here a few times recently... For birthdays and reunion meetups. A big fan of their galbi-jim here as the portion is HUGE given it was over $100 for the large. But even with my heavy eater family, there was still a sizable amount to take home. That's a decent portion in my book. I really like their fishcake here. Kimchi is more on the fermented size here. Bossam is also very solid here, doesn't feel heavy here even though you're eating fatty pork belly. The tangs here are about what you'd expect from this style of place. No salt included, add it yourself. Seafood pancake a little pricey here and not spectacular. Service is friendly and they keep you topped up on banchan most of the time. Staff was attentive and friendly but restaurant could use an extra hand especially during peak hours. We got the regular soy (nonspicy) flavor and while it was savory, it became a little overpowering throughout the meal. Mini bossam! Great, cuz I didn't want to pay $32.99 for a full size order. Was therefore the soondae, since it's in the name of the restaurant! There was three rows of soondae, but don't know if it was three different flavors/kind. The lighter color one was the best texture! I think that one had rice. The other two had the glass noodles. Includes like a salt for dipping and fermented shrimps. The assorted pork meats were good too! I don't even know what parts of the pork it was, but wrap it up with garlics, jalapeños, and sauce in a lettuce leaf and you're good! There's two kinds The bossam is boiled pork. They give you all the veggies and sauce to wrap it up in a lettuce leaf as well. Next time I want to try the BBQ version. read more

The servers were quite nice, even though they may sometimes forget certain things that may come with certain dishes, they were quick to help and get whatever we needed. We tried the bossam boiled pork, seafood pancake, bimbimbap, and seafood soon tofu. I didn't know if they had a pan fried Bossam, I swear I thought I saw another table order it. Quite pricey for the seafood pancake but it was quite good. The place is clean and there is plenty of seating. They have an underground parking lot shared with all the neighbor shops. I came here after seeing it on TikTok, and it was a huge disappointment. The food was just okay--not worth the experience--but the service was unacceptable. On Sunday (04/19/2026 at 2:15 PM), we ordered a combo tofu soup with steamed pork and a spicy soup. I clearly told the server multiple times that I do NOT eat green onions or white onions and asked for none in my soup. The soup came out loaded with onions anyway. When I pointed it out, the staff took the dishes back with an obvious attitude--no apology, no acknowledgment. When I spoke again to the original server, he didn't apologize either and just walked away. I even overheard them in the kitchen confirming that I had asked for no onions. The issue isn't just that they got the order wrong--it's how they handled it. The staff were rude, dismissive, and clearly didn't care. When the soup was brought back, there were still onions in it. Later, when packing it to-go, I found more onions underneath, which made it obvious they didn't remake the dish--they just picked some off the top and sent it back out. Completely unacceptable. First time here and definitely the last. I will not be returning and would not recommend this place to anyone. The service alone is enough reason to stay away. read more

We also wanted spicy ramen with the soups that was offer but that option is not available unless you buy the big pot that was $69 why??? Ended up not having any of the soups. Kimchi fried rice has no flavor, seafood pancake was filled mostly with greens rather than seafood also super thick texture, and the buckwheat cold noodles was probably the only thing that had some flavor. I do like that they have different combo options available. Their portions are quite big, and I did have leftover from my combo. I ordered the Cold Noodle + Mini Bossam combo, while my gf ordered their Galbitang. The cold noodle surprisingly took the longest to come out out of all our dishes...When we were asked if we wanted refill of our banchans, we did ask for more of the spicy radish...but they never brought out more for us. Yum! A great spot for Korean food that's not in ktown or OC. I think the quality and taste of the dishes here are better than most in the 626 area. My favorite dish is the cold noodles. I know I shouldn't be eating carbs all the time but it's so good and I'm always craving them especially in the summer time. It's so hard to just order one thing here because everything that we tried here was good so far. The side dishes are a tad better quality. The steamed egg is salted to perfection. I enjoyed the rib soup, bossam, the galbitang, gamjatang and the other dishes as well. It's hard not to over eat here! So the reason for the four stars is because I read the other reviews the owner has responded to and he always talks about the quality of the food. The food is good, but I don't think the price really reflect the quality. Especially with the quantity of the food. At least for my dish. My sister who also never finishes her food, finished her food. I got seafood tofu+bulgogi combo. There was barely any seafood in there, and they were small like a baby. The soup base is also not as flavorful as I would have liked. The bulgogi was pretty good. Although I feel like the portion was really small as well. My sister got the cold noodle, and that dish was really good. Maybe that was the reason my sister also finished her food? haha but I would definitely go for the cold noodle next time I come here. The food here is excellent and it's dog friendly! We had family in town and couldn't ask for a better set up in the back patio. They had ample umbrellas for shade and tables that can sit 8 people. We ordered cold buckwheat noodles with pork belly (A+) and the Gamjatang with cheese (A). Portions were large and easily shared with family and friends. Servers were courteous and prompt. There is underground shaded parking which was a nice surprise. There is only one bathroom in the back of the restaurant but it was kept clean. There is no privacy when you walk out so everyone will know you used the bathroom lol but really who's looking! Would definitely come here again with a large group to try their other items. Soondae Fried Webfoot Octupus: my friends really enjoyed this dish. The dish includes small octopus, tteokbokki, glass noodles, and soondae. It is slightly spicy, and greatly seasoned. This is unique dish is worth a try. Ttubaegi Bibimbap: I find it to be average. The portion is small compared to other restaurants with that price. Not a must order dish. Spicy Cold Noodles with Soondae sampler: The cold noodles were amazing. My friends really enjoyed it. Highly recommend it to give it a try especially on hot days, definitely a great option. The radish and red cabbage adds a great crunch to the dish. You can add white vinegar if you like to have a hint of sourness, and mustard/hot sauce if you like to be spicy. The soondae sampler is a great option to try various options. This is a great combination to try most of their signature dishes. Banchan: their side dishes is kind of limited, I hope they can have more variety. The service wasn't the best, one of the employees didn't know what he was doing and appeared to be kind of impolite at some point. But overall, it is still a great place to try. This has quickly become my new favorite Korean restaurant in the San Gabriel area. I visited on a Wednesday around 1:30 pm, and parking was easy to find. The restaurant was quiet, and I was seated immediately. The staff was attentive and welcoming. I especially loved the Lunch Mini Bossam option. Since I was dining alone, the portion size was perfect. It's a big win that they offer a smaller version for just $16.99--great value for high-quality food and side dishes. The boiled pork was tender and flavorful, served in an adorable small bamboo steam basket, which was a nice touch. Mouthwatering and absolutely delicious! I came here on Sunday with my boyfriend after craving Bossam. However after seeing the menu, we decided to go for the samgyeopsal (bbq version of bossam) and two pork belly soups (spicy and non spicy). I didn't get to try the Soondae, but I'll definitely try it next time (since that's what they're known for). The soups were great, but we definitely overestimated how much we would be able to eat-- especially with the samgyeopsal. For two, we definitely could've shared a soup and the samgyeopsal. We were pretty hungry and devoured the samgyeopsal, but still had plenty of soup left over. The samgyeopsal was definitely the star of the show. The grilled buttery mushrooms simply melted in my mouth with the bbq meat-- contrasted with the crunchiness and fresh taste of the lettuce. I found myself wanting to eat more, despite how full I was getting. The portions looked small at first, but don't let it fool you, there's plenty of meat. For $32.99 it was definitely good bang for your buck! The soups were alright, they did their job and were decent-- it was what you would expect. I would've liked it a lot more, but unfortunately, I was so preoccupied with the samgyeopsal that I didn't really think much about them. They complemented the samgyeopsal pretty well, and I'd definitely come back for their soups during lunch (since it's $11.99 at lunch for their special vs $18.99 for dinner). The service was fast and spectacular, I didn't feel like we had to wait a while for refills on sides and they constantly checked in on us. They were very attentive. There was a good portion of meat in the soup. For this soup I did add a little spoonful of salt to season.
