We tried their pork pan fried dumplings (3/5) since the skin was overpoweringly thick, but the filling was decent. They have a small and large sweet and sour chicken rice plate. I had gotten the small size just to try it out, but it was surprisingly good (5/5). The pork sandwich bun was decent (4/5) since the beef was tasty but the sandwich bun could be better. We also had the traditional beef noodle soups with either the wide flat and triangle ones. You can't go wrong with these freshly made pulled noodles, and they are very hearty portions. My girlfriend and I were craving noodles after an event in Pasadena and this place happened to be within walking distance from our hotel, which took around ten minutes. There was no wait when we first arrived and the staff seated us immediately. We wanted an appetizer, so we started off with the pork belly with garlic sauce. The pork belly was cooked very well and the garlic complemented each bite perfectly where it wasn't too strong. My main dish was the dry noodles with chicken. I was able to customize my noodles to be wide flat noodles which I haven't had before. The noodles were chewy, the chicken was made very well, although the spice level was a little higher than I expected. They used beef shank parts as filling but it wasn't shredded to my liking. It was the exact same cut as they used on the noodle soup, which I called it very sloppy work. The beef shank itself it's heavily seasoned with salt as well. So I wouldn't recommend ordering chinese burgers from this place. We came around 8pm, and their closing time was at 9pm. We finished paying our bills at around 8:50, but I was still wrapping my kids bites and crumbs. The waiter first came to collect the credit card receipt from us, then came back again asking if I was done with this as he was pointing to my empty bowl while my mouth was still full from chowing food. I kindly nodded my head and gestured that he can take the bowl. A few seconds later, he came back again and asking if I'm done with my husband's bowl as I was still not done with chowing. Oh come on! I know people wanted to leave work at the end of the day, but back off body, you couldn't wait just for one more minute until we got up from our chair then started to clean up? It's bright and dark, light yet rich, sweet and sour, and so on. The blend of spices gives a slow burn without a huge layer of oil on the top like some soups depend on. I needn't say more. In hindsight we probably didn't need this many cold dishes, but all of them satisfied nonetheless. The braised beef had a lot more beef chunks, that were a little harder to chew through than the more thinly sliced lan signature meat. The service is quick and the workers explained each dish very well and gave helpful recommendations. They are quite spicy though. We visited my daughter's church about a month ago for the first time and it was such a blessing to have many of her church family come up to my wife and I and say how wonderful our daughter was and that we did a great job raising her to be the person she is. I think I also raised her to be a foodie based on all the gastronomically delicious restaurants she's brought her Mom and I to during our visit with her that weekend. That day after church was no exception as she brought us to Lan Noodle to dine on their signature noodle soup Lan Noodle. Both my wife and I cleaned out that large bowl because it was so yummy. Lan is located in Arcadia, CA., specifically on Duarte Road within the 2-story outdoor strip mall called Arcadia Landmark. The restaurant is a few steps from Tokyo Wako; neighbors Basil Thai, Xiang Ji Beef Noodle, and Pho Ha; and it's across the street from Olive Garden and BJ's. There is plenty of parking, but it's a popular strip mall, so you might need to park a short distance from the restaurant. It's not a big restaurant, but they pack their table top seating to maximize the amount of diners. There is also outdoor seating for overflow. Lan is a popular restaurant, so you might need to wait for seating to open up. As you enter the restaurant, you'll immediately hear and see one of their employees making hand made noodles and slamming them on the countertop. There is a mural with the large words and heart graphic saying, "I Noodle." There are framed Japanese artwork mounted on the wall, the cylindrical Japanese red lanterns, and individual square graphics describing the type of noodles. The gentleman who was our server was friendly and hand working. Lan's specialty is Chinese Beef Noodle Soup, which is why we were dining here. Lan serves other types of Chinese food like appetizers, fried rice, Chinese burgers, dry noodles, combos, milk teas, and drinks. Our daughter brought us here to try out their hand pulled artisan noodles specifically their Lan Noodle. We ordered their Lan Noodle Signature Noodle Soup and prior to getting our bowls of soup, we ordered two appetizers. We ordered the smashed cucumber, which I forgot to take a pic, and their spicy fried tofu. Our daughter had meant to order the spicy version of the smashed cucumber, but she ordered its mild version. The cucumber was fresh, slightly salted, and I enjoyed it more by dipping it in vinegar and chili. The spicy fried tofu was a cold appetizer and it was just okay. Our daughter raved about their Lan Noodle, which is the traditional Lanzhou beef noodle soup that comes with sliced beef, small beef chunks, clear beef bone broth, daikon, cilantro, garlic green, and handmade noodles. After seeing the large bowl come out and chowing down on the soup, I now know why there are framed articles about Lan from the Eater. For my bowl, I asked for it to be a little spicy, so they added a little red chili oil, but I should have asked for it to be more spicy. That beef noodle soup was delicious, savory, satisfying, the noodles were fresh and chewy, the sliced beef and beef chunks were tender and yummy, and the broth was so addicting. My wife and I cleaned off our bowls. Seriously, that amazing!!! It's always a blessing to hear from strangers that my wife and I did a great job raising our daughter. For the foodie in me, I'm proud I raised a daughter who knows quality food. She introduced us to another memorable restaurant and we can't wait to visit Lan Noodle the next time we visit her. read more

Lanzhou Beef Noodle is located on Huntington Dr in Arcadia. I saw yummy looking pics of the handmade wide flat noodles so decided to check it out. I ordered the dry flat-wide noodles w beef, spicy fried tofu, and beef tendon. It was pretty cool to see them hand make the noodles!! Spicy fried tofu - Cold appetizer. Just a tiny trace of spice (not really spicy). Beef tendon - Cold appetizer. Gelatinous in texture w a hint of spice, good source of protein and collagen! Dry noodles w beef - Great flavor! Has cabbage, scallions, red onions, and jalapenos... reminded me of Mongolian beef. The noodles were delicious!! I'm falling more and more in love w this area bc of how amazing the noodles (and all other food options) are!! Next time I'll come back and try the noodle soup. read more
