    Beef noodle soup
    Jenny C.

The most comforting bowl of beef noodle soup I've ever had! The quality has stayed consistently excellent over the years. The noodles are made in-house and have the perfect chewy texture, while the beef is tender and generously portioned. What brings everything together is the rich, savory broth. This bowl is more than enough for 2 people to share! I also enjoyed the Popcorn Chicken as an appetizer. The pieces are large, crispy, and very well seasoned. This restaurant is located in a plaza, but there is always ample parking. The restaurant itself is also never too busy and the employees are very efficient with helping customers get in and out.

I can't believe it took me so long to try this place. I loved it so much! Prices were fair, small parking lot out front, not much of an ambiance. We got the beef noodle soup, fried pork app, cold sesame noodles and the peanut sesame mochi dessert. Everything was spot on - my absolute favorite being the beef noodle soup. The noodles were thick and bouncy, the beef was tender, and the soup was so flavorful. The mochi would also be something I'd get again - a lot for two people though. Better to share with 4 people.

I've neve been to Taiwan but I imagine that this restaurant is close to what they serve there. My family likes the beef noodle soup here and recommends it to friends. Pricing is more than other places but the portion is large enough to have leftovers or feed two so it's acceptable. I get the tendon only beef noodle soup, as I like the texture of well cooked tendon so much. The flavor of the broth is rich and concentrated. The noodles have a bouncy chew texture and doesn't soak up the broth even when refrigerated overnight. The amount and size of tendon they give here is phenomenal, never seen quality and quantity like this really justifies the pricing. The wonton soup is also a large portion, that is sharable. The wontons are different from Hong Kong style, a big size and just ground meat no shrimp. I wouldn't order this again as the beef noodle soup is just so much better. Chilled cucumber salad was addicting and small enough portion to be finished off in one sitting. Crunchy and marinated in a quick pickle this was so yummy as a side dish. You can order soup to-go or even refrigerated so you can reheat at home in your own convenience. Limited menu but if you do one thing right it's all you need. Service was attentive and pleasant, cash payment is encouraged as you get a slight discount compared with card.

Wow. Fantastic beef noodle soup. My boyfriend and I consider ourselves beef noodle soup connoisseurs, we order beef noodle soup at almost every Taiwanese restaurant we go to, and the one here at Corner Beef Noodle House is among the best, if not the best, we've ever had. The broth was extremely rich and deep in flavor, the noodles were springy and bouncy, the Bok choy was fresh and crunchy, and the beef was cooked so well. It was so impressive. So soft and tender. They also gave us a small side of pickled mustard greens which served as a palate cleanser in between rich mouthfuls of the soup I couldn't stop drinking. Not to mention the portions here are great! We both left full and satisfied, and the price was so reasonable. I cannot recommend this place enough. The service as good; our waitress came to refill our water several times. The restaurant was also reasonably busy for weekend lunchtime, but we didn't have to wait outside in the heat which adds another plus in my opinion. I cannot wait to come back and look forward to recommending my friends and family to come try this place out too! Lovely little restaurant and I hope to try more things on their menu next time!

Beef Stew Noodle Soup ($16.47) - "Close Up on Noodles and Beef"

I had an adequate experience at Corner Beef Noodle House (El Monte). I ordered the Beef Stew Noodle Soup ($16.47). I loved its springy, fresh noodles; however, the soft, jelly-like beef is mildly bitter like burnt blood. It's an acquired taste. (Important: Bring Cash. There's a 3% Cash Discount.) I arrived at Corner Beef Noodle House (El Monte) on Sunday (around 5PM). Parking is easy. The lot is spacious. Staff is cordial and efficient. Staff quickly took my order. My food arrived in three minutes and 20 seconds. Extremely fast!! As mentioned, I ordered the Beef Stew Noodle Soup ($16.47). The broth is thin, savory, and sweet with a light spice. The noodles are thick, springy, and fresh. And the beef melts apart in your mouth like beef gelatin. Unfortunately, the beef is also a little bitter and dry. It tastes like frugal ingredients that were well-prepared. It's not bad. Regarding ambiance, Corner Beef Noodle House (El Monte) is very clean. The floor and tables sparkled. There's about 15 tables. There's also a customer gender neutral restroom. The music is also very soft. Overall, Corner Beef Noodle House (El Monte) offered a good experience. If searching for an affordable spot, this is an option. It's not bad, but I'd visit with tempered expectations. 4.3 out of 5

To put it simply, this is one of the best beef stew noodle soups I've had, and I keep coming back for it. Every time I come, the quality remains so consistent. What makes this dish unique here is the beef itself is perfect - flavorful, tender, and almost falls apart in your mouth. The tendon similarly is soft and well seasoned. It's hard to find beef noodle soups that is so balanced and it's usually a hit whenever I bring someone here with me for the first time. The servers work fast and the restaurant has a lot of tables. They refreshed the look of their menu, and it is now really easy to read and order. If you like beef noodle soup, you need to try this one!

According to my friend, Reddit says this place has the best Taiwanese beef noodle soup in SGV and after going today, I'd say that is accurate! Absolutely loved the soup. Super flavorful and the braised beef was so tender and tasty, thick noodles were perfectly cooked. One bowl was enough to share because we also got popcorn chicken, fried pork chop, and Taiwanese sausage. Everything was just so good, I'm still salivating thinking about it.

Without saying, it's really precious to find Taiwanese restaurants in LA. Corner Beef Noodle House is one of the jewels! Ample choices of lunch "bento" for popular Taiwanese foods -- popcorn chicken, pork chop, braised pork knuckles (ham hock) and stinky tofu. Surely you cannot miss their signature dish -- Beef noodle soup! They also provide frozen, cooked food for a convenient, quick meal when you need it. Now they have discount when you pay cash -- 10% off and buy 6 get the lucky 7th free. Some side dishes are UNIQUE and cumbersome to make such as 生腸! It's only available here throughout LA, or probably in the entire California state or nation wide! The "Ai-yu" lemon drink is also a distinctive, special beverage in Taiwan. Must grab one when you come to the Corner.

I heard the hype around this place's beef noodle soup so I had to try it out. There's parking onsite as the restaurant is located in a plaza. Service was normal. I got the Half Meat Half Tendon Beef Noodle Soup and was unfortunately not impressed with it as the meat that came with it was tough and the broth had a good helping of MSG in it. I could taste it plus I was super parched afterwards and had to chug a ton of water. The tendon was just okay, I won't probably come back for the beef noodle soup as there are other places that have better versions.

I was committed to try all of the top 5 beef noodle soups in the SGV so we headed to Corner Beef Noodle House. Located in a strip mall in El Monte on Pack Rd., the interior is minimally decorated. The menu is Chinese noodle dishes and sides. We ordered the signature beef noodle soup which was very good but the noodles were a bit over cooked. The broth was deep in flavor. Spicy wontons the wontons were huge like Wenzhou style, not your normal small wontons The sauce was a bit on the seeet side. Boiled chitllins was not good. Service was ok. Plenty of parking.

Came here for the beef noodles, left with a plate of Pork Foot Rice and Popcorn Chicken. Even the minute maid is special. As always great place for 古早味everything

Beef Noodle Soup with Half Meat/Half Tendon Beef Stew

Overall: Great place for Taiwanese food with quick, no frills services. This is one of my go to spots for beef noodle soup. Plenty of parking, usually no wait, and great food. The Service: Service is definitely no frills. It's not a fine dining restaurant, but the server is attentive, took my order quickly, and would refill my water when needed. Everything was quick and efficient. The Food: Monascus Pork - 5/5 Very few places serve this dish and it's one of my favorites. The crispy fried pork is well seasoned and is a bit fatty so it's very delicious. This pairs well with the pickled cucumber. You can order this dish by itself or as an entree where it's served with rice. Beef Noodle Soup - 5/5 This is definitely one of my favorite beef noodle soup places since the soup is nice and rich, but not heavy tasting. It has a bit of spice but isn't too spicy. I love the pickled mustard greens that they give. I prefer it with just the beef, but you can also order it with tendon and tripe if that's something you like. The portions are huge! They give so much meat and noodles which gives you more bang for your buck. The taste is very homestyle and reminds me of when I visited Taiwan! I prefer the regular noodles - they were a bit thicker and had a nice bouncy/chewy texture to it. You can also order the noodle soup as a combo where you can get a small appetizer sized amount of cucumber and bean curd. This combo also includes a drink. Price: Beef Noodle soup prices range between $15-$18 depending on what meat choices you get. The other entrees are also around the same price point with appetizers ranging between $8-12. The portions for the food are a lot for what you pay for. The Atmosphere: It's a rather large restaurant which can accommodate for larger groups. It's a casual restaurant so don't expect a fancy dining atmosphere. Parking: Located in a strip mall, with plenty of parking.

Corner Beef Noodle House is a specialized in Taiwanese beef noodle soup located in VictoriaCenter. They serve hot, cold and rice dishes. Drinks and desserts are available too. I placed my order by phone. It took around twenty minutes to have my order ready. The restaurant looks nice and clean when I went inside to pick up my order. They have multiple indoor seating. I got: -Half meat / Half Tendon beef stew with regular noodles 5/5 The soup was rich and very flavorful. The beef shanks were perfectly cooked, tender and juicy. It had delicious chewy gelatinous tendons with tasty bok choy. It is really their specialty. -Taiwanese Sausage with rice 4/5 It was sweet and garlicky but a little bit dry. -Fried Monascus pork with rice 4/5 It was savory , tender and slightly sweet -Popcorn chicken with rice 4/5 Flavorful crispy chicken with basil leaves The amount of rice was generous. The rice was fluffy. The staff were very nice. My order was perfectly packed and the food was very hot. I will go back for their flavorful and delicious beef stew.

How much is the frozen lion heads original flavor and a box of cold dish seaweed? When I called I was told lion head is about $23, but my total bill was $33, does that mean the small box of seaweed was $10? Or was that a mistake? I was in a rush...

I'm regards to the beef noodle soup, is this place better than Bull Demon King on valley?

If you're looking for spice no. If you're looking for for savory and flavor and better noodles then yes. Their noodles have a great texture. Plus alll the other Taiwanese dishes are a plus. Pro tip: Buy some of their XO sauce to go.

    Are the noodles hand made?

Some are, like the house special.

Did they change owners or management recently?

Nope! It's still the same owners that started the business.

Unfortunately for me, fan tuan is a breakfast item, meaning that most of the places that would have it close by 4pm. And so, I decided to go before work! My quest to procure one of these stuffed rice rolls led me to Yi Mei which specializes in traditional Taiwanese breakfast. Apparently Yi Mei has caught wind that fan tuan has experienced a surge of popularity, because taped on the front counter is a paper guide on how to order fan tuan. The fan tuan, by default, will come with youtiao, pork floss, and mustard greens. You choose the type of rice, salty or sweet, the crispiness of the youtiao, and additional fillings. I went with salty, purple rice, an extra crispy youtiao, and added Taiwanese sausage. I also got soy milk and turnip cake. Dine in is available. The vibe inside is casual. Although it was a weekday morning, there were quite a fair amount of people eating here. But, we opted for take out. The worker was very nice and patient with us, helping us through our order as it was our first time.We were given a buzzer and got our food after a short wait. There is a sauce station with garlic sauce, vinegar, chili oil, and other condiments. I grabbed some garlic sauce and a little bit of chili oil. We couldn't wait to try the fan tuan, so we started eating right in front of the restaurant hahaha... The fan tuan is rolled into a tight cylindrical shape, held together by a casing of saran wrap, making it easy to eat with your hands. Peeling back the plastic revealed the glistening grains of purple rice. The texture was amazing. I sunk my teeth into the densely compacted rice layer. Soft, then immediately crunchy! The extra crispy youtiao shatters apart in your mouth, bursting with the flavor of oily, deep-fried bread and complemented by the sweet and savory pork floss. Then, the richness is cut by the crunchy pickled mustard greens. Indulgence. Satiety. Harmony. Balance. The perfect food. And then, add a little garlic sauce. Add a little chili oil. Reality crumbles around you as you realize this perfect dish was nowhere near its peak! The intense garlic flavor seeps into your bloodstream and the answers to the universe flash before your eyes. Chili oil dances on your tongue. Fire. Umami. Your senses awaken. So this is the height of cooking! The 4 noble truths and 8 fold paths open themselves to you. Power surges through your veins! You have achieved enlightenment! FAN TUAN... BEAMMMMMMM!!!! And just like that, the fan tuan in your hands has disappeared. If I were to get this again, I would probably want to add more mustard greens as I did not think there is enough in the default order. It's also worth checking out their other items, as I thoroughly enjoyed the turnip cake. It tasted very fresh, was steaming hot, and so gooey! Needless to say, I will be paying Yi Mei another visit very soon.

Every Taiwanese person in LA and the West Coast probably had a 2 degree of separation with everyone else. And so like the Italians, you needed family restaurants to congregate at, and Aghoo precisely is that type of restaurant where Taiwanese Boomers and their children go sit down and have comfort food. This is a school of cooking that many chefs from Mainland China simply cannot replicate today. And there were only a few restaurants in Los Angeles 30 years ago capable of doing it: Happy Family Garden Pacific Plaza 新園餐館, Dumpling King 老夫子 Hacienda Heights Vons Plaza, Sin Bala 新芭樂 Arcadia, and Din Tai Fung 鼎泰豐 Arcadia Location One. That being said, I've always wanted to go back to Taiwan and apprentice under an old school chef and learn this school of stir-fry, you know, carry on the torch. In Taiwan, you used to be able to go to a street stall and order 100 different types of stir fry for dirt cheap, and so the chefs that had the grit to do it became masters at stir fry, authentic green onion beef not that fake Mongolian Beef created for the American Audience...although I equally like the American version. It was survival for the Boomer generation to stand next to a wok all day, to support the business and to support the family. Unlike Italian food, you can't premake Lasagna, Meatballs, marinara sauce and just assemble everything last minute with fresh cooked pasta. House Special Bean Curd: Normally love this dish, and while the flavor was good, the tofu is actually cut too thin so it lacked any chew (or QQ). Fried Red Yeast Pork Belly: Wanted to try something interesting and new, and this was a fun choice. Very interesting and also heats back up well in an oven. Service was friendly. I can't help but feel like they could optimize their table layout a lot better, and perhaps bring in an additional server - there ends up being a very long wait for 2-4 person groups. I watched as some groups ended up changing their order to go because they had waited so long. Street parking outside.

I've been here with my coworkers so many times now that I've lost count. It's one of those…read morerestaurants where we've never had a bad experience and the food and service are consistent. It's one of the default lunch spots for us when we can't decide where else to go and everyone likes their food. The one negative I can point out is the parking situation. It does fill up and sometimes difficult to find a parking spot during busy times. We just have to plan to have our lunches a little earlier and carpool from our office. And yes, the glass the teas come in are humongous.

We called ahead to place a pickup order hoping to try their dumplings. Once we arrived, the service…read morewas extremely good for just coming to pick up food. They opened and closed the door for us which was a nice touch because it was busy inside. We ordered the pork ramen, pork buns, and pork soup dumplings. On to the food! Pork Ramen: 3/5 They give you a hefty amount of noodles and pork. They use a thin noodle here which pairs well with the broth. I truly do believe this was around average for ramen as the flavor in the broth was not as strong or savory. The highlight of the entire entree was definitely the pork, which was tender and flavorful. I probably would not order this again. Pork bun: 5/5 The pork buns were soft and fluffy, almost too good looking to eat. There was the right amount of soup and meat inside that made for a wonderful bite full of flavor. Not dry at all. Would recommend ordering this if you visit. Pork Dumplings: 5/5 The star of the show, the dumplings. They were soft and just like the buns, they had the right amount of soup + meat which made for a delicious bite every time. My toddler even ate some and she's usually super picky about meat. Overall, I'd definitely recommend coming here for the other noodles, the dumplings, and buns. You can skip on the ramen. I would 100% come back here to dine in. Quick note that parking gets full pretty quick here.

SinBala - Arcadia…read more SinBala is one of the rare Taiwanese restaurants that has stood the test of time. I grew up eating here. There used to be several locations across Southern California, and I'm glad the Arcadia location is still here. Every visit brings back memories. I come for the Taiwanese classics that are becoming harder to find. The popcorn chicken is still one of my favorites--crispy, fragrant, and seasoned the way Taiwanese street vendors do it. The Taiwanese meatball soup is comforting, and the Taiwanese sausage always reminds me of night markets back home. What I appreciate most is that SinBala doesn't just serve street food. It brings those familiar flavors into a warm, home-style setting. It's nostalgic without trying too hard. Before you leave, save room for dessert. Their shaved ice is a must. I always recommend the brown sugar shaved ice topped with five mochi or boba. It's refreshing, not overly sweet, and the perfect ending to a meal. Taiwanese food is often overshadowed by other regional Chinese cuisines, but places like SinBala remind me how unique it really is. Simple, comforting, and full of character. I'm grateful this little piece of Taiwan is still here.

A bit sweeter than my preference but maybe cuz I put condensed milk on it as one of the toppings. The grass jelly shaped firm and nice cubes so possible it's from a can as opposed to in house. Gotta love my Taiwanese food fix in this area. Dago had generously portioned bento boxes, each with…read morea few side veggie dishes. Bento options include minced pork over rice, stewed pork and a few variations of it, popcorn chicken, fried pork chop or chicken. They got street food options like oyster omelette, shrimp omelette, assorted marinated meats, and popcorn chicken. If you dont feel like bento boxes, they also have noodle soups. I ordered a preserved veggie stewed pork bento along with an oyster pancake. I was able to do less rice and more veggies, they just switch the placement of rice with the broccoli, the difference is very small, you still get a hefty amount of rice. While the veggies were great, I ended up needing more rice because the stewed meat was on the saltier end. Oh well, mistakes were made and the whole meal was eaten nonetheless. The omelette however was a bit of a disappointment. The texture was lacking in eggs and the veggie wasn't A-choy. The pieces of oysters were clustered in one section, you get huge chunks of the corn starch filling. The whole thing wasn't mixed in too well. Next time I'd just do a bento and nothing else. Portions were very generous and I was decently content with the food.

You order your food through their website accessed with a QR code. Then, you can self-serve water, iced tea, miso soup, and jelly desserts from a counter. The restaurant flavored the popcorn chicken well and didn't make it too oily. I enjoyed how the rice had minced pork on top. In general, the many flavors made the dish interesting. However, the curry and vegetables tasted a little bland for my taste. They had red pepper seasoning on the side, but I wish there was an option to make the popcorn chicken spicier. We enjoyed the miso soup as it was hot and flavorful. The self-serve aspect here reminded me of some restaurants in Taiwan in which you pick up your own water, chopsticks, and condiments. I have no meaningful comments about their service since the restaurant mainly just provides to food to you. Then, you go up to the cashier counter to pay for your bill. There is a lot of seating inside, and it was quiet when we visited on a late morning. The restaurant was hard to find since I wasn't familiar with the area, so it took me a couple tries and careful navigation to arrive.
