I tried this new sushi place and really enjoyed it! The inside is super cute with a cozy Japanese vibe, beautiful lanterns, and nice decor. It feels very comfortable for eating with friends or a casual date. The server was so nice. The sushi rolls were fresh, colorful, and nicely presented. The sauce and toppings were really good, and everything tasted fresh. I also loved that they have Japanese drinks like Ramune. Overall, great atmosphere, good food, and a nice new spot to check out. I'll definitely come back again!

Came to AYCE Mabu Sushi in El Monte with my brother to celebrate my cousin's birthday for a weekend dinner. Overall, I think this place has the potential to be a solid 5-star AYCE sushi spot, but there are a few things holding it back. Let's start with the positives. The premium fish selection was fantastic. We pretty much ordered everything included in the premium menu except for the gyudon bowl, and the quality of the fish was impressive for an AYCE restaurant. The nigiri selection was excellent, the carpaccio sashimi dishes were delicious, and some of the specialty nigiri really stood out. The peppered tuna, peppered salmon, and the yuzu tuna and salmon nigiri were all highlights of the meal. For appetizers, we ordered the spicy garlic edamame, fried oyster, agedashi tofu, popcorn scallops, broiled mussels, and takoyaki. The standout appetizers were definitely the spicy garlic edamame and the agedashi tofu. Both were packed with flavor and were dishes I'd happily order again. The fried oyster and popcorn scallops were decent, but the breading was a little too thick for my liking. The broiled mussels and popcorn scallops were also slightly overcooked, making them a bit chewy. One surprise favorite was the Salmon Pleasure specialty roll. It had a nice thin layer of rice, wasn't overloaded with sauces, and allowed the fish flavors to shine through. If you're dining here, I'd definitely recommend ordering that roll. Now for the areas that need improvement. The biggest issue was the sushi rice. The fish quality was there, but the rice consistently held the nigiri back. The rice was mushy, lacked texture, and was missing that subtle rice vinegar flavor that gives sushi rice its balance. On top of that, the fish-to-rice ratio felt heavier on the fish compared to most sushi spots. While some people might see that as a positive, the rice still needs to be able to support and complement the fish. The other issue was the amount of sauce used throughout the menu. Many of the rolls, especially in the no-rice section, were heavily dressed with sauces and mayo. Sometimes less is more, and I think the quality fish would stand out much better with a lighter hand. Another small complaint is that drinks come as canned sodas rather than fountain drinks. Not a deal breaker, but a fountain soda option would be a nice addition. Service was the highlight of the night. Our server, Leo, did an outstanding job. He consistently checked on us, made sure our orders were coming out smoothly, and always made sure we had everything we needed. Great service can make a huge difference in the dining experience, and Leo definitely elevated ours. The ambiance was modern and comfortable with soft music playing in the background, making it easy to enjoy conversation throughout dinner. Parking was also easy. There's a large free parking lot shared with neighboring businesses, and we had no trouble finding a spot. Overall, AYCE Mabu Sushi has all the ingredients to be one of the better AYCE sushi spots in the area. The fish quality is there, the service is excellent, and the menu has a lot of variety. If they can improve the sushi rice and ease up on some of the sauces, I'd happily come back and could easily see this becoming a 5-star experience.

Newly opened AYCE sushi spot in the 626. Came here for lunch for the AYCE sushi. Inside is super spacious and has cute Japanese cat details everywhere. Lots of options to choose from . They even have no rice rolls if you are watching carbs. They also offer spicy tuna crispy rice and spicy salmon crispy rice. Another standout beside that was the carpaccio. You can eat endless amounts.

This new AYCE sushi restaurant in El Monte is a welcome addition to the local dining scene. They offer two all-you-can-eat options: a Regular Menu and a Premium Menu. Even the Regular Menu includes a generous variety of choices, with plenty of items that aren't rice-heavy, making it easy to sample a wide range of dishes. The food was good, and the quality was right on point for the price. The fish tasted fresh, portions were reasonable, and overall the menu offered solid value. Service, however, still has a few kinks to work out. The biggest issue was timing. After placing an order, there was often a long wait before any food arrived. Once dishes started coming out, they arrived steadily, but the pattern repeated with each round. After submitting a second order, there would be another lengthy pause before service resumed. My recommendation is to place your next round as soon as the first dishes hit the table to avoid sitting idle waiting for food. The ordering process could also be clearer. For the Regular Menu, guests receive a checklist form and are told that everything on it is included. However, each item has a price listed next to it, which makes it somewhat confusing. To add to the confusion, not everything on the sheet is actually included in the AYCE price, drinks, for example, are listed but cost extra. As for the staff, experiences varied. One of the female servers came across as somewhat cold and disorganized, although a language barrier may have played a role. On the other hand, a younger gentleman working the floor was friendly, polite, and attentive, providing a much more welcoming experience. Overall, the food quality and value make this place worth a visit. With some improvements to service flow and menu clarity, it has the potential to become a popular AYCE sushi destination in the area.

I would give this place 3.5 stars! Tried their AYCE dinner for $36.99 which is similar pricing as their other competitors in the surrounding areas. They did have a variety of appetizers and their sushi quality was average in my opinion. The service was decent and the food came out relatively quickly.

Food was overall good and a decent selection for AYCE. My favs included the baked mussels, nigiri, no rice rolls, and carpaccio. I think a lot of their fried foods (tempura, popcorn scallop, fried oysters, and fried squid legs) had a thick batter which wasn't my favorite but every item came freshly cooked. Interior looked really nice with cute lanterns on the ceiling and neon lights on the walls. Service was quiet but attentive. Parking: free plaza lot

Staff was great and welcoming. The design of the restaurant is beautiful. The quality of the fish is pretty good! I enjoyed the salmon and yellowtail the most here.

Tried the new AYCE spot Mabu Sushi & Ramen in El Monte and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and variety. Since there aren't many all you can eat sushi spots in the SGV, this was a nice addition to the area. Lunch starts at $30 and includes a large selection of sushi, appetizers, rolls, and ramen. We started with the sashimi salad, carpaccio, and tempura. The fish was fresh and generously portioned while the tempura was lightly fried and crispy. The nigiri had thick cuts of fish with a good rice to fish ratio. One of my favorite items was definitely the spicy tuna crispy rice -- flavorful with a nice kick and great texture from the crunchy rice. They also offer no rice roll options which was nice to see. The ramen was surprisingly solid too. The broth was rich, noodles were firm, and the bowls come in smaller portions so it's easy to try multiple items. The premium sushi boat was both aesthetic and delicious. Fish was buttery and melt in your mouth, and the fried shrimp head was chef's kiss. Overall a great option if you're craving AYCE sushi in the SGV area.

Really cute spot! They have a huge menu of ayce sushi! I really like the premium boat and the presentation was super cute! The food was good! They were very quick about making sure we always had food on the table. The fish to rice ratio was good. I also liked that they have so many side dishes and half rolls so i could try more food.

There's premium sushi served on a sushi boat... at an all-you-can-eat spot?! Maybe this new sushi place in El Monte is about to make AYCE sushi go viral The premium sushi boat comes with soft shell crab, wagyu sushi, sweet shrimp, and more luxe picks. Price? $29.99 lunch special $36.99 premium (includes the sushi boat) And for the kids? Ending the meal with a banana boat dessert IG: socalhkfoodies

I've seen plenty of social media posts about this spot, so I had to come and try it for myself. I really enjoyed the ambiance, it's a big, open space, and there weren't that many people here on a Wednesday. We ended up getting the premium option, which basically gave each person one set of premium items plus AYCE from the regular menu. I thought the selection was good, and the sushi quality was definitely above average, especially compared to many other AYCE sushi spots I've been to. I'd rate the quality somewhere between a 4 and 4.5, which is really good for AYCE. Some notable items I really enjoyed were the mussels, fried oysters, and all the tuna and salmon sushi. All of the premium items were quite good, and the poke sashimi (carpaccio) were solid as well. The no-rice rolls (Sunrise & Anabolic roll) were light and refreshing. The special rolls were simple but good, though a bit heavy on rice, so you'll fill up quickly. I do like that many of the rolls come with only four pieces, that's a huge plus for AYCE, especially if you're dining with a smaller party. Overall, I'd definitely come back. I thought the price was reasonable for the quality, and having no wait is another big plus. Parking - Plenty as its in a huge lot that's almost never crowded.

TD Cafe closed after about a year and has now been replaced by Mabu AYCE Sushi. AYCE Pricing: Lunch (Mon-Fri): $29.99 (Premium $45.99) Weekend & Dinner: $36.99 (Premium $48.99) I ordered from the regular AYCE menu. You can order from the list up to three rounds. I asked if there was a time limit, and the waiter said we could stay until closing. There's a wide variety of options, including salads, appetizers, sushi, poke sashimi, no-rice rolls, fried rolls, baked rolls, specialty rolls, classic rolls, as well as ramen and udon. I didn't have enough room to try the noodles or specialty rolls. Overall, the food was decent--fresh enough for AYCE. I especially liked that they offer no-rice rolls. What I tried: ( = would order again) Yellowtail Tama (No Rice Roll) Salmon Tama (No Rice Roll) Sashimi Salad Seaweed Salad Shishito Peppers Organic Agedashi Tofu Takoyaki Crispy Squid Legs Fried Shumai Karaage Fried Chicken Dynamite Roll Yellowtail Collar Salmon Collar Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice Unagi Yuzu Salmon Yuzu Tuna Smelt Egg Bay Scallop Seared Albacore Yellowtail Poke Sashimi - Salmon Carpaccio Poke Sashimi - Yellowtail Carpaccio Poke Sashimi - Albacore Carpaccio Banana Boat Plenty of parking, lots of tables on a weekday night, and the service was very attentive, the waiter helped us to customize the banana boat to what we wanted. I wish they can make the ordering sheet bigger, it was hard to read with the low light environment. I saw another couple changed seat to a brighter table.

New AYCE sushi spot that took over TD Cafe in El Monte. Came when it was fairly new with a large party. So when we walked in, realized that the staff was pretty much the same people from TD Cafe, but everybody was super attentive and accommodating. There's definitely kinks that need to be worked out; however, overall it was not bad. The appetizers are fairly safe. We enjoyed the crispy rice, edamame, seaweed salad, tempura, and tofu. Ordered the collar on our second round, but even after reminding them, we never got the order. As for the fish, it's OK. The sashimi dishes were not great, but we liked the sushi - especially the yuzu salmon, bay scallop, and eel. Rolls were alright. I liked my Philadelphia roll the most, lol. We also tried the ramen, which came in a small bowl. It was not bad. We did like the banana boat ice cream! It came with two scoops and two cones as well as banana. For the price of $36-37, it's not bad. If they get busy, I can see them falling quite behind. Glad to try it one time, but don't know if I'd return. Bumped it up to 4 stars because of the service.

The noodles for me were just slightly too overcooked for my taste, but it wasn't a big deal. The tea egg was good with a just above jammy interior texture. The chashu was great though. It was very tender with no strange pork smell to it. It tasted fresh. I got the ramen with small rice bowl and salad combo. The rice bowl was alright as well. I got the pork cutlet and egg. I wanted the pork cutlet to be crispy, but the breading on the outside was soggy. The overall flavor was fine though. It had a braised, sweet soy sauce type of flavor to it. The salad was made of shredded cabbage and carrots with a creamy dressing on top that reminds me a lot of thousand island dressing. The slight bitterness from the raw cabbage paired well with the sweeter flavors of the dressing and the carrots. Service was okay.

The bowls are a little smaller than the ramen bowls and are a great option if you want a light meal without feeling super full. The tonkotsu ramen had a slightly rich broth that was flavorful and a decent portion of noodles. We opted not to order the ramen with the egg since we were also trying the rice bowls. The three items were more than enough for the two of us and a good variety of food. Parking here is horrible at the street level, so head downstairs for the two levels of underground parking.

I ordered the Deluxe Mazesoba, which comes with chashu and a hard-boiled egg. I really liked the deluxe version because it felt more filling and had a good amount of protein from the minced pork, chashu, and poached egg. The bowl had a lot of flavor, and I ended up finishing the whole thing, so I didn't even get a chance to try the free scoop of rice at the end. The mazesoba was a bit on the salty side, but it wasn't something that bothered me. The seaweed and fish powder added extra depth and helped give the bowl more variety, while the green onions added a nice texture and freshness. I came on a Wednesday night and didn't have to wait at all, which was a plus. Overall, I enjoyed my first mazesoba experience here and could definitely see myself coming back whenever I'm in the area.

We walked into a casual ramen shop atmosphere, the kind of place that works well for a quick and satisfying meal rather than a long dining experience. The space is functional and focused, with a menu centered around different variations of mazesoba along with a few sides and drinks. The main reason to visit is the mazesoba, and it delivers a completely different experience from typical ramen. The noodles have a chewy texture and are meant to be mixed thoroughly with the toppings, sauce, and egg yolk to bring everything together. We tried the Nagoya-style combination of spicy minced pork, green onions, seaweed, garlic, and other toppings, and found the bowl rich and layered, with each bite getting better as everything blended together. The deluxe versions add more toppings and make the dish feel more complete, while the spice level can be adjusted depending on how much heat you prefer. The richness of the sauce and toppings is balanced by the brightness of the egg yolk and the crunch of the onions, keeping the dish from feeling one-dimensional. The restaurant also offers options like takoyaki and matcha drinks, which add variety to the meal. The matcha latte is a nice contrast to the heavier noodle dishes, while the sides work well for sharing or adding something extra to the table. Since mazesoba is naturally a heavier dish, the balance of toppings and textures helps keep the meal from feeling too rich, and the sides offer a lighter counterpoint. Service is quick and the experience moves efficiently, which fits the casual style of the restaurant. Menya Hanabi can get crowded during busy hours, and waits are possible, but the focused menu and flavorful bowls make it worth adding to a noodle rotation. It is a great spot if you want to try something different from traditional ramen, delivering a meal that feels both intentional and satisfying, with a concept that is simple but executed in a way that makes the noodles stand out.
