I visited this Taiwanese casual eats spot and my experience here was pretty good. I came for the weekday lunch special and I liked the variety they offered with each combo. I got the Combo C Lunch Special with came with a protein, carb, some sides and a drink. For the protein I got the popcorn chicken and it was good and standard. The meat wasn't dry which I liked and it would have been perfect if it was crispier and more flavorful. For the carb I got the rice which came with a ground meat topping which was nice. The rice was also fluffy. I also liked the side dishes of the cabbage, bean curd, etc. The veggies were cooked well and crisp. Finally, I got the black tea for my drink and it was standard. Not too sweet nor strong in taste. The service was good and I liked the ambiance which was reminiscent of Taiwanese night markets. Overall, a solid choice for a lunch spot in the Arcadia area.

I have surprisingly never gone to the closer one in Rowland Heights, but we were craving an early night snack (place closes at 9 PM) and we decided to stop by Monja Taiker. There were a couple tables there already and seemingly one gentleman working the front area, bussing tables, taking orders etc. When he took our order he kept quickly asking my friend for clarification, much to her confusion, but it's like...? There's no combination order for the yam fries and popcorn chicken? There's just the 2 items separately on the menu? Oh well, sometimes it's easier just to point to the order name on their tiny font menu I suppose. We also asked for water, which came in small paper cups. All the water, condiments, utensils are all up at the counter area. So you have to go up and request it or take it back to your table (the condiments, not the water pitcher). We ordered the popcorn chicken and yam fries both at different spice levels, mild and medium. Neither had any spicy taste to them at all. There's no delineation between them. Easier to just grab a bottle of cumin and just dump it all over yourself afterwards. It took some time for our order to come out. Probably since they are short staffed. The popcorn chicken portion size was good for $10. Had a couple strands of fried basil. Chicken was deliciously moist, breading wasn't too thick. The yam fries were good, BUT the portion size is what you can measure coming out of a small McDonald's fries sized bag. Not worth $9 in the slightest. Like they were good and didn't taste like it was refried from a frozen bag, but definitely not worth how much it cost. Maybe it's this location that's like that? I'm not sure. If we need an evening snack place, we're gonna try to find a different spot.

Came to Monja Taiker with a friend to try their red grain pork. They offer affordable lunch combos that include a choice of rice or noodles plus a side dish. The main dish tasted pretty authentic, and I really liked the sweet and savory flavor of the pork. However, the side dish felt a bit underwhelming and not as well prepared as the rest of the meal. Overall a solid option for red grain pork.

I came here with my friend on a weekday lunch and there were lots of seats! They have lunch specials so I got the red grain pork lunch special that came with a green tea. The meal was decent and nothing special. It's kinda like taiwanese comfort food and the price was reasonable.

When I first heard about Monja Taiker I was wondering if it was a Monjayaki restaurant, which had me a bit excited since they don't seem to have any around here. Turns out it's a Taiwanese place but since I have an office nearby, I figured I would try it anyway. Well, it's mostly good, people are nice and the vibes are Taipei night market (the giant mural on the wall makes it clear). The portion sizes and sides can definitely be improved. Just doesn't have that homemade look or taste to it. The prices are on the higher side so I expected the dishes to at least look impressive but they did not. But it's a newer place and I think they have potential so I will be back.

We joined some friends for dinner here. We got there around 7 and it was pretty empty. Our friends recommended anything with the red grain pork. So I got the congee with the pork, hubby got the dry noodle, one friend got the braise beef noodle soup and his wife got a plate with the beef. We also ordered popcorn chicken for the table. The popcorn chicken comes with a choice of not spicy, mild, medium, or hot. We got the spicy seasoning on the side and it's got a good kick Our waitress was nice, very quiet and timid but helpful. The restaurant itself is nice, the bathroom is kinda weird and dingy but nothing to complain about. Popcorn chicken was my favorite. The dry noodle was really good too. The congee was a bit bland needed some salt. I just added the spice seasoning and it pumped it up a bit.

I returned this week at a friend's request. Upon entering and looking at the menu, I was so happy he had suggested this place. I have forgotten about Monja Taiker. They have a lunch special menu which offered 5 different options for rice/noodle dishes each with a drink (black or green iced tea) for all under $17 each. What a steal! I was wavering between the fried pork chop rice and the fried chicken steak rice. The waiter suggested the chicken steak rice. I am so glad I listened to him. Oh man! The fried chicken steak was crispy on the outside and the meat was juicy inside. The batter had so much umami that every bite was bursting with flavor. You can choose the level of spiciness for the meat. I typically go with mild. The rice plate also comes with veggies and minced pork and yellow pickled daikon. The yellow pickled daikon gives the savory dish a sweet and acidic dimension to balance out all the flavors. There were at least 4 tables and only one server. I felt so bad for our server who was overwhelmed but remained calm and polite. He definitely earned and deserved the 20% tip. I will definitely be eating here more often now that they are back in my food memory bank!

I came craving popcorn chicken and got to eat a bunch of Taiwanese classic items... at least to me! Taiwanese meatball - very Qq and sauce just perfectly sweet with meat and bamboo filling Popcorn chicken serving was huge! Meat was juicy and coating is crispy and seasoned. Loved it.d Red grain pork was so flavorful! I don't even enjoy that kind of meat but it was good. Beef noodle soup was good! Soup was flavorful and it has veggies. I ordered a choy or Taiwanese lettuce and it comes boiled with some meat on top. I love adding this for flavorful fiber in my life. Overall enjoyed my meal here, service was good even if my Chinese is terrible.

I'm always on the lookout for popcorn chicken and this place was pretty good. I enjoyed the dry noodles too, and it's not something I typically go for. The menu has a good variety and the combos are a good deal.

I've been eyeing Monja Taiker whenever I pass the restaurant on Huntington, so I planned a friend date here since we both haven't tried it! I saw they specialize in Taiwanese food and had shaved ice, so I was instantly sold! We sat down immediately, our server was friendly, and the food is great at an affordable price point. We shared the Popcorn Chicken Rice Dish 鹽酥雞飯, Taiwanese Style Dry Noodle 傻瓜干麵, Brown Sugar Ice 黑糖清冰, and Taiwanese Meatball 彰化肉圆. My favorite was the Taiwanese Style Dry Noodle 傻瓜干麵 - the noodles were chewy and the texture was perfect! I was also so happy to see they even had Taiwanese Meatball 彰化肉圆, and one of my favorite dishes to eat, with a chewy outer layer, filled with veggies and meat inside. My friend has never had this dish before, so I was happy she got to try it for the first time! The only thing was that the Brown Sugar Ice 黑糖清冰 wasn't what we expected. The ice was hard and had chunks of hard ice, which isn't the texture we expected for shaved ice. I imagined something softer, so it must be their ice machine. The toppings and brown sugar flavor in their 刨冰 were great, just the texture of the shaved ice threw me off a little bit. Overall, a great place to relax and enjoy authentic Taiwanese dishes in Arcadia. I'll be coming back here to enjoy it!

Monja Taiker is one of my favorite spots for delicious Taiwanese food. The red grain pork at Monja is elite - the light crispiness on the outside complements the juicy BBQ pork so well. The lunch specials on weekdays (Mon-Fri 11am-4pm) are my favorite. I can't get enough of their bean curd with vegetable side dish - it is very refreshing and addicting. Their green tea is simple but yet so delicious as it has the perfect amount of sweetness. Parking is available in the back of the restaurant or street parking. Also, Amex is not accepted in store.

Was craving popcorn chicken so came here on thanksgiving day. We got the lunch special which came with a black or green tea. Chicken was seasoned well and I loved the veggies. Would come back again next time I'm craving Taiwanese food!

I passed by this place a few times and finally got the chance to try them out. I ordered a popcorn chicken rice and a monja red grain pork dry noodle. The order came within 10 minutes. Side note, there is free parking in the back but is about a few minutes walk to the restaurant. The popcorn chicken rice was delicious. It tasted very close to what I had in random hole in wall spots in taiwan. Very simple popcorn chicken, veggies, pickled veggies, and rice with grounded meat + sauce. The quantity was way more than I expected too. The dry noodle was just as good. The highlight was definitely the chasiu meat. It was very flavorful and tender, which went well with the chewy dry noodles. Just like the previous dish, there was a lot quantity wise. Overall, great food for a relatively cheap price for today's standards. There was so much that I ended up packing some as leftovers togo. I will be back to try other items on the menu.

Many 3CAT boba places are popping up all over SoCal and I hope not to the point of saturation. It's not my go to boba place at the mall, but I'd say it's a close second. If Cha is cooked, this is a good place to default to if I don't want to travel outside of the mall or if I forgot my Wushi gift card (happens all the time now). Sometimes there's a super long line outside of this one too, not sure because of some kind of deal or just the standard crowds or short staffing. Other than that, like every other 3CAT place, not bad. They have unique drinks here and there with interesting toppings like osmanthus tea jelly, barley popping boba, soybean mousse, and much more. If you don't like your drink, they'll remake it for you and if you truly want to avoid the crowds you can order online for pick up. My go tos here are the Biscoff Jasmine, Soybean Dragon Well, and Mochi Oreo. Always less ice and less sweet to no sugar (not recommended, but some of these are dessert drinks that off set it).

The Taro Ube Milk Tea is DELICIOUS! Its boba is also bouncy, playful, and soft. YUM!! I arrived at Boba Friend (Monrovia) on Sunday (around 6:30PM). Parking is easy. The lot is big; however, there were a few stumbling, unfortunate homeless people. Customers order at counter; there's no self-service kiosk. Cash and card are accepted. Staff is professional, friendly, and hard working. Staff politely answered all my questions. My drink took about one minute and twenty seconds. Very fast!! As mentioned, I enjoyed the Taro Ube Milk Tea ($6.50 - Large). There's a bold sweetness with fresh taro, and it's creamy & thirst-quenching. The accompanying boba are also good quality. These boba pearls are fresh, bouncy, and delicious. YUM!! The Surprise Cup ($4.50) is also very FUN! If you break open the side, a random mini plushy pops out. I received an adorable tiny dog/bear plushy. "I now have a new Boba Friend!" Regarding ambiance, Boba Friend (Monrovia) is comfortable and functional. There's customer internet with password; details are on a very tiny sign on the counter's glass. There's also about four electrical outlets. Customers also have access to an unmarked/hidden restroom in the back. The location also felt relatively clean and spacious. There's about six interior tables. There's also very extremely soft music, but I disliked how this music also played intermittent advertisements/commercials. However, it was somewhat spooky how the back area was so dimly lit. Overall, I found unexpected happiness and joy at Boba Friend (Monrovia). The boba is delicious; the drinks are flavorful & well-crafted; and the atmosphere has very adorable moments.
