This is the first time I'm trying out the Arcadia location! The red grain pork is delicious just like the original MPK location. The Arcadia location is a bit smaller, but looks clean and well-run. The service was quick and friendly. The only thing I didn't like was the paper plate/bowls. It dried out the rice and soaked up the sauce. read more

We came with as a group of 3, along with our dog, and were seated near the front (so our dog could lay on the bench.) The staff brought him a water bowl - so kind! We ordered the red grain pork rice, popcorn chicken rice, ground pork with mushroom rice, and a honey lemon green tea. The food came out quick, and it was good and comforting. This was our first time at the Arcadia location - we've been to the old Rosemead locations a few times. Food was comparable - and we liked how the food was presented at this location, but we thought the amount of red grain pork was a little lacking. Parking: There are a couple spots out front for street parking and a parking lot around the back. I have never had difficulty getting parking. Interior: The restaurant is pretty small but I rarely see it busy. They do have a lot of tables packed in so it would few crowded if it was actually full. Service: I usually order to-go for a quick meal. It is rarely busy and they get the food ready pretty quickly. I did notice that they also serve people that dine-in with disposable boxes and utensils. Food: The food is mediocre. The most popular dish is probably the red grain pork. I have also tried the popcorn chicken, pork chop, chicken roll (extremely small portion), and stewed chicken leg. Nothing really stands out about it. The rice combos come with a side of ground pork sauce and some cabbage (usually very bitter). I recently ordered the Taiwanese glutinous rice sausage and that was a complete rip off. It came with 5 measly slices of the sausage for about $10. I would not recommend ordering any of the appetizer dishes. read more

After hearing good things about their dried noodles and red grain pork (char siu), wanted to give this place a try. Their red grain pork was OK, but I prefer the Cantonese style of char siu as it has more flavor and is more tender and succulent. Their dried noodles were also OK. Noodles were perfectly cooked, but flavor of their sauce was just OK, nothing special. Their Sichuan style cold chicken was delicious and I would order this again. This restaurant is quite small and, interestingly enough, they serve their food in takeout trays and paper bowls even though we dined in. These were what we got: Steam pork combo: the steamed pork didn't look appealing, but it was actually very savory and filling. The plate came with napa cabbage, pickled veggie, a ground meat sauce, and green tea. The tea was refreshing and everything tasted really good! Popcorn chicken combo: if you're a fan of popcorn chicken, this is the place to get it. It was crispy, fresh, and the chicken was quite lean! It came with rice, ground meat sauce, napa cabbage, and side of pickled veggie. I would definitely get this again! Service was nice and the interior looked really cute. This is Monja's newest SGV location serving yummy Taiwanese dishes in the heart of Arcadia. We had a bit of a mixed experience when we visited for lunch during their opening week - mostly great with a few issues that will likely be sorted out as they settle in. Their red grain pork and dry noodles are fantastic, service excellent, prices very decent, and the restaurant has great vibes! We tried their Combo D and a bowl of their wonton noodle soup - their combos are a great deal and definitely the way to go here. For the Combo D, we chose the Monja red grain pork and our kind server recommended the dry noodles as our side choice and it ended up being our fave item of the meal - fantastic recommendation! The red grain pork slices were soft on the inside with a marvelous slightly sweet red crust on the outside - absolutely loved it! Their dry noodles have a lovely texture and come topped with a flavorful savory ground pork - delicious! The combos also come with some fermented veggies which was almost all cabbage and also very nice - I loved all the combo items and their combos are a great price. Opening week they gave out free milk teas with all the meals so we tried their regular milk tea and a strawberry milk tea with boba at 25% sugar - both drinks were perfect - great flavors and they have some really nice boba. 25% sweet was still very sweet so I'll probably get no sugar in the strawberry milk tea next time. I had to take off a star for 2 reasons. One is that they're serving all their food in to-go containers which really took away from our dine-in experience - especially when it came to the wonton noodle soup - which brings me to my second reason. The soup came out boiling hot in a very flimsy plastic to-go container - we were worried the plastic was going to melt! The wontons were actually decent but the broth had a very strange flavor to it - almost chemical?? Was it the super heated plastic? A strange spice? Not sure but my husband refused to eat it - I tried but couldn't get past the weird taste. Definitely wouldn't order this again. And I hope that they'll switch to actual dishes for their dine in customers once they settle in :/ Our server was fantastic - very patient, attentive, and friendly - and the restaurant is in a great location overlooking downtown Arcadia. The vibe is cozy and decor is fun - and their prices are very reasonable for the area. Parking is all street parking and we had no issues finding a spot for our late lunch. I've been driving by for months waiting for this location to open. We've always gone to the Rosemead location, and glad finally there's one closer to home for us. We had some miscommunication with our order since we do not speak Mandarin, but the waiter was apologetic and corrected our order. I ordered the B1 Monja Red Grain Pork Noodle Soup, hubby was hungry after a long flight and he ordered A4 Preserved Veggies with dried pork rice, a side of E15 steamed cabbage pak choy, and not on menu a side of Monja Red Grain Pork. Most of our food came out less than 5 minutes after we ordered. I think the workers were confused how 2 pp can eat so much food. So when we asked about our extra side order of red grain pork, the worker pointed to mine which came with the noodles. We always order a side of red grain pork no issue at the Rosemead location, however the worker informed us this location is a different owner/boss. Have to admit the pork that came with my noodles was a bit dry and chewy. Whereas the new one we added was much more tender and crispy since it was freshly made. I was also surprised how everything was served in paper bowls and plates. Hopefully later when they are fully staffed they can use real serving dishes. Was so sad this placed seemed to be closed a while back, but glad to see it open again! The food is just as solid as the monja taiker in Rowland which I have had for years. We had the wonton soup, beef noodle soup, dry noodles/pork, and popcorn chicken. Friendly staff. Speaks English well. The lady speaks very softly and fast (which I think is typical of 20s these days) popcorn chicken can be better if added more spices. Their signature Monja Red pork is quite good. I think it's roasted pork fried in thin coating. Taiwanese sausage quite good too. We tried their combo and chose dry noodles. Really like this simple noodles (bean sprouts ground pork in bean sauce and yellow noodles) They use paper plates and bowls. Sustainable conscious I guess. We decided to try this place for a quick lunch today. I ordered the popcorn chicken with the dry minced meat noodle. My wife ordered the minced meat rice with vegetables. Service was great, the food came out quick. This was most likely because there wasn't a lot of people on a Tuesday afternoon. It was a little pricey for the quality of slightly over-salted food. I was craving some chinese food and this place hit the spot. We order popcorn chicken with fried fish cake which was so yummy and crispy. I would definitely recommend getting this as your appetizer. Monja Taiker has definitely gone downhill since their hay days years ago. My daughter is a big fan of their fried 'tempura' and my son a fan of their red pork. Their lunch combo and afternoon tea combos used to be a great deal for quantity as well as quality. Attached is the afternoon tea combos and their prices. Not sure if that amount of meat is worth the prices alone, but quality appears to have at least remained the same for the 4 items we ordered: fried tempura, popcorn chicken, red pork and Taiwanese sausage. What is also not helping is their barebone presentation with disposable plate and utensils. All of this makes things look cheap and not worth paying all the money. Either way, portions are way too small objectively and afternoon tea deals are not really worth it any more. The lunch combo might be ok for the tea drink and the bowl of noodle, but definitely not good for afternoon tea snacking. read more

Food was okay. I ordered the pork chop rice and popcorn chicken for lunch on Sunday. Nothing special about the taste. Parking wasn't the easiest to figure out. The place was warm due to AC being off. I had to ask several times to get water refill. I paid with my credit card and it ended up getting notification of weird charges from Taobao within several hours after my visit. We stopped by here hoping for a quick dinner before heading to the movie theater, and we were able to dine in and enjoy our food all within 30 minutes, and we made it perfectly in time for our movie! recently tried out the new Taiwanese spot, and it didn't disappoint. We opted for the combo c with fried pork chop and dry noodles, a steal at $14.25 including sides and green tea. The portion sizes were generous and perfect for a weekday lunch. I also tried the porridge with monja red grain pork which was tasty, although it could've used a bit more pepper. The service was prompt, and they quickly brought me some when I asked. Overall, the food and service felt really professional for a new joint, with flavors that transported me back to Taiwan. The only downside was the lack of ventilation; the fried food smell lingered after we finished eating. Hopefully, they'll work on that. I really wanted to like this place, but I have to honest that I was disappointed with the quality of some of the entrees I ordered on my recent visit here. The red grain pork rice is always on the spot, but I felt that the other dishes were way too greasy for my taste. I can even see the oil build-up when the food cools down. This includes the beef noodle soup as well. Prices, however, are decent. A solid Taiwanese fast food spot that has all the classics for comfort food. The place was completely empty when we came in on a Wednesday at 6pm. Our food came out within 5 minutes of ordering so that already tells me that it's not really made fresh to order. I like my food piping hot, and this was just barely warmed up. The red grain pork seems to be the most popular item here and it was pretty good! A lot of flavor, some crispiness on the outside, although it was a bit on the salty side. The popcorn chicken was good but nothing spectacular. I typically like my popcorn chicken really crispy and with a lot of crunch, but this was more of the soft, grainy kind. Parking isn't the best here. There's street parking in the front by a pretty busy street. I think there might be parking in their back lot but I'm not sure. Extremely happy the 3rd location is here. Came after Lunar New Year fest and got crowded last. Place only can seat 35 people. There were 6 of us and luckily we got there for the last big table. We got the set menu and free ice green or black tea for grand opening. All food was served on recycled disposable bowls and plates. Easily placed a lid on our food and took home leftovers. The super positive reviews for this location is definitely sus. We came here for dinner, and literally were the only ones there. We were excited because we've eaten at the Rosemead location twice before, and it was great. This location was definitely a letdown. The red grain pork was tiny. The pig ear was super tough and drowned in overpowering sauce. The popcorn chicken was mediocre. The only positive food wise was that the a-choy portion was pretty big. The restaurant itself is old and dirty. I don't have high expectations of Chinese restaurants when it comes to physical spaces, but against that, it was pretty disappointing. read more
