Although most of my friends rave about this spot, I haven't consistently had a good tea from here. I tried this place a few times since my friends are big fans. I also came back a few times because of their promotional discounts but mostly left unsatisfied. The drinks are inconsistent in taste and sugar levels. My husband and I visited this Formosa Aroma location for the first time this past Sunday, 2/22 around 2:00 PM. This is a new location that's opened up in Temple City. We got lucky because there wasn't too long of a line when we first came, but the line just kept growing. It was out the door by the time we got our orders and left! We ended up getting 4 orders of Iron Buddha Oolong Boba Milk Tea - $7.50 (BOGO offer during 2/16-2/22) - The drink was pretty good, we got them with light ice and 75% sugar. The sugar was definitely on the light side so I wish we had actually ordered one full sugar to compare. The boba was warm, chewy, and had the qq texture. I wish the iron buddha Oolong flavor was stronger as the drink was a little on the light side. I would prefer a deeper roasty flavor. Customer Service: The staff member who helped us was friendly. From start to finish, it took us around 20 minutes to get our order and drinks ready. If you're in a time crunch, just be aware. Parking: I saw another reviewer mentioned that the store has their own underground parking. We ended up just parking real quickly on the street. Had lunch with my partner nearby; we walked over from the Teapot Plaza. I'm a big fan of their Alhambra location, and was looking forward to getting my boba fix at this spot. Let's just say that me and a few other patrons ended up leaving the place. I didn't get to order at all because they were swamped with a HUGE order. We're talking 20+ drinks huge. There were still people waiting for their drinks on the side. I was on a time crunch, so we ended up walking back to Teapot Plaza. I enjoyed the white peach tea more though since I don't usually get milk teas. Hojicha Pudding Iron Buddha Milk Tea: For anyone that doesn't know what Iron Buddha is, it is a variation of tieguanyin. This milk tea is smooth and creamy. Because of the silky hojicha pudding, there is a wonderful toasty and nutty flavor. The sweetness level and ice level are adjustable for most drinks. You had me at Oolong tea! This made-to-order hand crafted newly opened formosan tea shop in Temple City looked promising. My friend and I just ate nearby on Broadway Avenue and walked over. The tea shop was packed and looked very popular. From the look of it and their full tea selection, I knew I was in for a great tea from the start! We waited about 10 minutes in line and after ordering, about another 10 minutes to get our tea. Service was quick, friendly, and they answered some simple questions we had about the order. I got the Oriental Beauty Oolong Tea w/ Aloe Vera & Jasmine Green Tea to go. The Oriental Beauty Oolong Tea I only seen a few tea places have in the U.S. here and it is from Fujian where my family is from so I had to get it to try, they did it justice and the tea was spot on. The Jasmine Green Tea was a little chalky and had a little dry mouth feel so maybe it was steeped too long. I was tempted by all of their speciality tea drinks like ube taro mochi milk tea, toasted marshmallow cocoa latte, black sesame or macha typhoon drinks (sounds so good as I am typing this currently) but I wanted a refreshing pick-me-up after the lunch I had. The green teas were the way to go but I know I'll have to come back on a treat-myself kind of day to try their speciality drinks. I was happy to see I can customize non-dairy milk and also by ice and sweetness level, too! The only thing I wish they explained in their menu or signage is what you can expect in the taste and fragrance of the Oolong teas. Oolong tea has a beautiful spectrum and while they carry a lot of Oolong flavors, it would be important to explain them so all guests have an accurate understanding and appreciation for the tea. I have only a proficient understanding of the types of tea but I, along with some other guests in line, were left a little scratching our heads on what all the types of Oolong tea would taste like! The design of the store is so beautiful, and the variety of tea is awesome. There is truly so many options to choose from and for some it may be motivation to try them all. However, I thought that for a tea forward store, their regular sugar level is too high (yes, i know it can be adjusted, and i asked for an adjusted one afterwards) which overpowers the tea. The workers were nice and helped me remake a drink to lower the sugar level. Formosa Aroma (Temple City) has poor visibility because its exterior is very difficult to see from the road. This small business is connected to the Begonia Place Apartments. It's also across the street from the Super A Foods Market. Staff at Formosa Aroma (Temple City) is professional. Staff (receipt says Eric) is helpful and welcoming. There's no self-service kiosk, so staff helps guide the customer. Staff asks for the drink's sugar level, ice level, dairy choice, and toppings. My drink took about two minutes. Fairly quick! As mentioned, I ordered the Formosa Brown Sugar Boba Milk ($6.75 - 30% Sweetness - 50% Iced). It tasted like premium brown sugar mixed in cold milk. The flavor reminded me of cereal milk. I usually get the Formosa brown sugar boba milk or milk tea with 0% added sugar and almond milk, and I love it. It's still perfectly sweet for me. They have a huge variety of drinks to choose from. But they mentioned their drinks run on the sweeter side, so I'd recommend ordering less sugar. They're also generous with the boba, so I usually ask for less. There's a free parking lot is huge in a indoor structure, plenty of spots along with some EV charging spaces. This cafe had a good variety of tea and milk teas! It's open daily 12-10pm Parking was easy since they have their own underground parking Prices were reasonable and most drinks were $6-$7+. They charge $0.50 for milk substitutions and $0.75 for each topping! Inside was a little small but loved that many of the tables had its own power outlet, little lamp, and free WiFi so it's perfect for studying! Got the Phoenix Oolong Tea ($6) and the tea was very fragrant and refreshing. Got it less sweet and less ice but it was still very sweet. Overall, this was 7/10 It wasn't too busy when I went since I went on a Tuesday around 1pm but because they seemed understaffed, it took awhile (15+ min) to receive my drink. However, it's not a big deal! I would most likely recommend and return to study. I'll possibly try another drink and hopefully it'll be less sweet! read more

Huge fan of Formosa Aroma! I'd say this location is even better than their Alhambra OG location. They have more tea flavors, more toppings, and nicer interior. I usually do street parking but I think they have a small lot in the back. I've tried a couple of different teas but my favorite are the oriental beauty oolong and jinxuan mountain tea. It's hard to describe what they taste like but I do enjoy the fact that you can actial taste tea and not just syrup. They have such a wide selection of teas that it's fun to try something new every time I go. Huge fan of their water chestnut boba and their taro ball trifecta toppings. Plenty of seating inside - it's pretty quiet compared to how chaotic and loud the Alhambra location is. Definitely my current favorite tea spot!!!! read more

A very tea forward drink spot with good amount of seats for somebody who is looking to also get some work done! The place is well lite and it's open kinda late, which is nice for an after dinner spot. It's part of the newly built apt, right across the street from the hat. Haven't had a place I crave to go back to in a long time! Personally tried 2 drinks and both did not disappoint! I had one of their advertised drinks of Iron Buddha Oolong with Hojicha jelly and really enjoyed that. At 70% sweet, the tea was good level of sweetness but the jelly is sweet also so can go to overall 50% sweetness for the sugar-conscious. The jinxuan mountain tea is milky floral and decided to do a tea latte (whole milk) at 70% sweet and also enjoyed this a lot!
