Open at 11. Came at 1120. They told me no more boba for now. What!!!! I saw they kept making to go order. Someone probably put a large order. I was upset not be able to try their boba. Otherwise the four season tea was good. Inside is nice and clean. Tables for hanging out. Street parking outside.
I had one of the most watered down tea I've ever had - Frozen Summit Oolong Boba Milk Tea. This was back when I got the BOGI deal in December 2025. Could hardly taste any of the tea. I usually love oolong tea because of the strong tea flavor, but this was the complete opposite. I was also surprised to see that they use different cup sizes if you order with or without ice. Honestly I hesitate coming back. I used to love Formosa Aroma.
We ended up at Formosa Aroma after our original plans for milk tea fell through, and I'm so glad our friends recommended this spot. A special shout-out to Mavis, who was incredibly patient with our indecisive group, especially while we were managing kids. I followed her recommendation and ordered the Iron Buddha Oolong (70% sweet). One sip confirmed it was much too sweet for my taste--honestly, like eating a slice of Costco birthday cake! My friends mentioned that the staff is great about adjustments, so I went back to the counter, and they were more than happy to fix it for me. Lesson learned: I'll definitely be ordering 50% sweetness or less moving forward, as these drinks are quite rich. I would definitely come back to try more of their menu. It's refreshing to visit a business that is truly customer-driven and willing to help you find the perfect drink, even when the initial choice was my own oversight. Thanks for the great service, Formosa Aroma!
Been wanting to try this spot and glad we did. Located in a plaza with its own parking lot. Spacious and clean with plenty of seating. The smell of tea is so nice once you enter the door. Server was kind, helpful, and patient (as we were trying to decide what to order) Lots of drink choices and love they have BOGO specials. The names of their drinks are creative and so interesting makes me want to try them all. The drinks we ordered hit the spot, they were good just nothing spectacular. The highlight were the Black Sesame Umeyaki. The outside was crispy and inside was soft and so yummy with the black sesame. It comes in box of 4. The Portuguese egg tarts were delish as well. I will definitely come back and need to get their BOGO deals.
Formosa Aroma in Alhambra is the brand's first and original location. I believe they now have a few storefronts, all within California. They stand out for their very large selection of teas, as well as customizable tea options. I like that they also offer unique house-made toppings like black sweet rice, rose cream foam, and matcha pudding. My go-to drinks are the Hojicha Tiramisu Black Tea Latte and Uji Matcha Latte. The tiramisu layer makes the drink very creamy and rich. It works perfectly with the roasted, nutty hojicha flavor. As for the uji matcha latte, it has a slightly sweet creaminess with just the right ratio of matcha and milk. A nice little perk is that they always have a BOGO free drink deal, which rotates every week. However, every BOGO drink I've tried is pretty basic and nothing special. The drink usually comes with boba as a topping. The boba here isn't the best though. From my experience, the boba tends to stick together and become chunky.
Did you know that Formosa Aroma has weekly buy one get one free deals? I frequent the location in Temple City but sine my husband and I were in the general area, we decided to come to this location on a Saturday afternoon, a little before 1:45 pm. This location is very close to BBQ chicken. We were able to park on the curb. We decided to get the buy one get one free special, which was the Golden Phoenix Oolong Milk Tea, $7.50 prior to tax. We made medications that included no boba, no ice and no sugar. Often times, I like to have my sweetness level at either zero or 25% (or 30% if that is the next lowest the tea shop can go to) sweetness level. My husband and I both thought this drink was good. It was similar to a classic milk tea drink, but a little lighter. Service wasn't as friendly as the location in Temple City and the unisex restroom wasn't as clean either. But overall, we had a good experience. Wait time for our drinks wasn't too long, about 5-6 minutes. I still prefer the Temple City location but would come here if I was in the area. Please note that there are different weekly specials for both locations in Temple City and Alhambra. You can find out what their weekly specials are on Formosa Aroma's Instagram page.
I got pineapple passion fruit Yerba Mate tea. It had a lot of pineapple pieces. It is herbal tea and it tasted like medicine to me but my hubby liked it So he took over my drink and I ordered Oolong milk tea with jelly. I liked it so much better. They have milk alternatives and even different tea types. I also loved the white peach green tea I got the previous visit. It had a nice fragrance. The tea is good here. I mean the actual tea...and they have quite a few tea options ... different oolong and green types. My hubby liked his Matcha pudding milk tea. Not super sweet and the pudding had a good amount of matcha flavor. Service is ok! Not much interaction. Employee seemed tired and not talkative & not smiling. May be it was towards the end of the day or it was not her good day. Place was a bit dirty. Tables didn't get cleaned. Also maybe because it was the end of day. Interior is a little small....not a ton of tables. Looks cool. The neon sign is nice.
After reading the reviews for this place, I had high expectations for this tea shop. I ordered a basic Matcha Latte and i received a very water down version of it, i received matcha water with a splash of milk. I was disappointed in the quality of their matcha latte, it is not worth the almost $10 I paid for this. First and last time I come to this place. This place is far from being as good as Rōk matcha, or Mugs matcha.
Came here while waiting for dimsum and tried out their BOGO deal on the assam milk tea with boba. I got 50% sugar, and it still felt pretty sweet to me. The tea itself was nothing crazy, what you'd expect from a regular black milk tea. Service was pretty quick though despite have a decent number of orders bc of the bogo deal. They also have lots of indoor seating!
Formosa Aroma is a local tea shop with three locations in Alhambra, Temple City, and San Jose as of April 2026. Owner Lucy started as a pharmacist but eventually felt uninspired and ended up getting into the tea shop business. She opened the first brick-and-mortar store at this flagship Alhambra location in 2023. There used to be a Tea Station right next to Formosa Aroma, but the shop closed in 2020 and was replaced with bb.q Chicken Alhambra. [Parking]: There is a free and private indoor parking garage behind the building. [Ambiance & ordering]: Plenty of indoor tables with no outdoor seating. Customers place their orders at the cashier counter. There is one unisex restroom here. It didn't take too long for my drink to be ready. [Menu]: Yelp's top highlighted drinks are Golden Phoenix Oolong, Iron Buddha Milk Tea, and Luye Red Oolong Milk Tea. Customers can also create their own signature drinks by choosing a tea, dairy, and topping(s). *** Golden Phoenix Oolong 100% iced 100% sweet ($6.25 + boba $0.75): At 100% sweetness the drink was too sweet and probably should have stuck with 70%. Not sure why but the drink had a funky aroma that wasn't exactly my cup of tea. The boba were nice and chewy. *** 3-star for the drink with A-tier boba quality, but not good enough to push it up to 4-star.
This place is really good! The menu offers lots of traditional flavors and teas along with many creative pairings like hojicha tiramisu black tea which btw is soooo good! They were able to accommodate a milk allergy in our group by removing the yakult in the peach slush. The lady at the register was very helpful and efficient and the drinks came out quick! We will be back!
Wanted a "dessert" type drink after lunch on a Friday and stopped by here with a friend. Got the black sesame midnight which had black sesame panna cotta, assam milk tea, and black sesame cream foam. I got it 50% sweet and probably could've went with 70% but it was still good. The black sesame flavor is so fragrant in both the panna cotta and cream foam.
There's street parking or a small lot to get here. There's some amount of seating but can get packed quick. It's best for grabbing a drink to-go. They have lots of options for customization. The staff are nice. And it has a chill vibe overall. I got the matcha pudding milk tea. It was pretty good. It was 70% sweet which was a perfect amount. You do get the taste of tea. The matcha pudding is good although over time the ice gets in the way. As the drinks level drops, the ice mixes with the pudding. Not the worst thing, just an observation. I'd probably get less ice mext time.
I ordered the Golden Phoenix Milk Tea with boba, zero sugar and no ice. The drink had a very strong tea flavor. Bobas were well marinated and I was given a generous of number of bobas in the drink. The boba was well cooked: very bouncy! Bright and roomy inside the shop with lots of chairs. I came on a Sunday and it was hard to find parking in the plaza. Definitely a good boba spot in the area. read more
We came to the store around half an hour before noon on a Saturday morning. Inside of the store looked super nice, clean and organized. There were lots of tables available. They were street parking spot available in front of the store. Once we went to the register to order, we found out from the friendly staff that they had no boba yet. We still went on to order a tea and a mango pomelo sago. We waited about 10 minutes to get our drinks. The mango drink was good. Once the drink came out, I could see the layers of sago mixed tea, pomelo and mango smoothie. The smoothie was little extra frozen, didn't mix well with the rest. My wife sad she couldn't try their boba but she liked her tea. read more

My drink here was pretty mid. I took advantage of a BOGO deal thinking it would be a good chance to try a couple drinks, but I could tell it was meant to be a BOGO. The drinks were watered down and lacked flavor. Maybe their featured drinks are better, but based on what I tried, I'd definitely stick to the ones featured on the billboard. There's just so much competition when it comes to boba and tea shops in the area. Even with the BOGO deal, I wouldn't go out of my way to come back. read more

First time trying the Alhambra location! There is one in temple city too! They have aesthetic cups with plastic sealed lids. Their color scheme of navy and gold is really nice. Pros: -occasional BOGO deals -uses real milk -variety of exquisite tea leaves with samples to sniff and descriptions before ordering -very friendly staff Cons: -shared busy lot with dim sum read more
On a Monday early afternoon, four patrons decided to visit Formosa Aroma to take advantage of BOGO offer of boba milk tea at this new Taiwanese bubble tea chain store. Store is clean, modern, and welcoming as it concentrates on showing how real teas are used in their boba milk tea. Service is good. We are greeted upon entering; very busy making drink orders. We order oriental beauty oolong boba milk tea with less sugar and less ice. The boba milk tea is warm on top and sweet syrup is still at the bottom. They choose to use more environmentally friendly cup, the younger patrons commented that they would like to see their tea and boba. Oriental beauty oolong tea is strong, and brings out flavor. However, you need to stir first to mix the sugary syrup. The bobas are soft and warm. I personally love how strong the tea is. The Alhambra location does have shared parking lot in the building. read more
Went to Formosa Aroma in Alhambra and got their BOGO drink of the week which is an Earl Grey milk tea with crystal boba. It was honestly kind of weird at first, but it slowly grew on me, so I'd say it ended up being good... just unexpected at first. However, their menu has a lot of other drinks that look really promising though, so I'd definitely come back to try more. Service was really nice and they gave good recommendations, which I appreciated. There's also a good amount of seating inside with outlets and WiFi which makes it a great place to get work done. Parking is easy too since they have a lot in the back. Overall, I'd come back to give their other drinks a try! read more
Loved their mango pomelo sago drink! Came on a weekend and wasn't busy. Service was pretty quick! I was more excited to try these umeyaki cakes and after 10 or so minutes, I got them hot and fresh. It didn't have any filling but they were still so good. If you love taiyaki you'll love the umeyaki here too :-) i think these sweets are what sets this place apart from other boba places in Alhambra. Def worth checking out! read more
The moment you walk into Formosa Aroma, you can smell how fragrant it is. I decided to customize my tea and went with Rooibos Milk Tea that had 50% sugar, oat milk and purple sweet rice for my topping. The tea flavor is a bit on the lighter side and I do wish that the purple rice was sweeter. There was plenty of seating and I liked how they were charged by the tables. The interior is nice and to the left of the register you can see what kinds of teas you can use to customize your drink which was a nice touch. I can see myself coming to Formosa Aroma again whenever I am in the area. read more

Got treated to some milk tea by a friend after a movie at the nearby theater. Have heard about Formosa here and there from friends. Heard it was solid, but Alhambra is a pretty far drive from me, so I haven't had the opportunity to try it until now. Got the Dancing Crane milk tea at 50% sweetness. I...Don't know what the difference between all of the milk teas are. They had a bunch of milk tea options with interesting names like rising phoenix and buddha, but no descriptions that I could find that explained what the difference between then all were. They had small pictures of the different types of tea leaves with their names along the wall before you order, but that was it. Didn't wanna make my friend break the bank treating me to some milk tea, so didn't add any toppings (wasn't in the mood for any, anyway), but a tea/milk tea here will run you like $6.5 before any toppings. I'd say this is absolutely one of the more pricey places. Do I think it was worth it? Ehh. I thought the milk tea I got was really solid. I thought 50% was not quite sweet enough for me, but the tea flavor was very prominent. I'm not a tea connesiuer or anything, but I shared some with my husband when I got home and he thought it was good. It was good, but not my favorite tea place. Would absolutely come back to try something else off their menu though because they have a variety that you don't find at many boba places. Parking looks to be dicey in this area. I got lucky because a car was leaving, so I managed to snag a really convenient street parking location. There's parking in the back, according to my friend, but she said it can get packed and tight. read more
This was technically my second time trying Formosa Aroma, I think the first time was in Tustin?? But I don't remember much. This time we went to the Alhambra location and ordered the rose dreamer oolong, black sesame typhoon slush, and another black sesame drink. I didn't take a picture unfortunately. The employee taking the order was nice but the time it took to get the drinks out was kinda a long time. But it was fine nothing too terrible. The drinks were really good though! The rose dreamer oolong had a delicious rose panna cotta at the bottom, rose oolong tea, and a rose cheese foam top! Honestly soo good I love rose and floral flavors in general!!! The sesame typhoon slush was also good but I think doing 100% sugar next time would be better instead of 75%, I think the crushed ice melts too fast and messes with the sweetness level in the slush. Inside was pretty nice, there were a few tables and chairs. Bathroom in the back and free street parking. I would come back here to try another drink! read more
I noticed they have been doing bogo every week but only for the specific ones they mention for that week. It is prerty worth since boba drinks these days are so expensive. I wasnt feeling like boba since i was full and ended up getting roobios tea with rose tea cream. I love the rose cream on any of their drinks. This time the tea seemed a little watered down. Not sure if thats how roobios is supposed to be but the rose cream made it amazing. read more

Formosa Aroma is a prominent, Asian-owned bubble tea establishment located in Alhambra. Opened in August 2023, the shop aims to elevate Alhambra's boba scene by using authentic ingredients and traditional craftsmanship. All tea leaves are imported directly from Taiwan, with different varieties sourced from specific cities across the island. The cafe offers a bright, modern, and spacious environment with warm lighting. It includes amenities such as tables with chargers and small lamps, making it a popular spot for studying or social gatherings. It also has free WiFi access. Service is generally friendly and efficient but can be slow during busy periods. The shop uses specialized espresso style tea machines to brew each cup fresh, ensuring a consistent and rich flavor profile. Signature drinks include the Pouchung Tea Latte, Formosa Ocean (a butterfly pea flower drink), and the Noble Consort Black Tea. They also have unique snacks like tea-infused popcorn (flavors include jasmine and hibiscus) and Formosa Umeyaki, a snack that's crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Customers can fully personalize their drinks by selecting from over 12 tea varieties and fresh topping like taro balls or barely boba. Most drinks allow for full customization of sugar, ice, and dairy/non-dairy milk options. Their drinks were visually appealing but lack of tea flavors for our tastes. We might come back and try their special snacks and other popular specialty drinks in the future. There's a small parking lot in the back and street parking, though can be difficult during meal times. read more
Their mango pomelo sago here was great! The manager was working the cashier when we visited and was extremely knowledgeable about the menu -- he gave great recommendations and helped us pick something we'd enjoy. I will say some drinks here can be a hit or miss, but I'd absolutely recommend the mango pomelo sago, especially if you're coming late at night and want something caffeine-free that feels more like a dessert. Sometimes pomelo sago drinks can be overly thick or heavy, but this one was well balanced. The bits of fresh pomelo pulp made it more approachable and helped cut through the creamy richness with a light tartness. We got it less sweet, which was perfect and let the natural flavors come through. Definitely worth trying if you're into dessert-style drinks! read more

Strong tea flavor gives them major props since it seems most (more than 15!) boba places I've tried in LA have a watered down tea flavor. However, I was very disappointed that their boba were just tasteless balls of starch -- no hint of honey or brown sugar. They are also on rhe pricy side, but follow them on social for their rotating weekly BOGO deals on specific drinks. Ordered half ice, 50% sugar. They wouldn't let us sample the tea (I was teying to decide which oolong I wanted to order), but did let us smell a small sample of leaves which was very helpful for choosing the desired tea (I went with the Golden Phoenix oolong). read more
Solid tea spot in Alhambra Parking is free in lot behind the building or street side Wanted to try their new Black Sesame Midnight tea which was not too sweet and had delicious panna cotta at the bottom, perfect at 50% sweetness. Came to this place randomly after having dim sum at lunasia. I've never heard of it so I didn't know what to expect but the interior looked legit as they had loose leaf tea on display. As soon as I saw it, I had a feeling their teas would be brewed to perfection! There were so many options to choose from, but I just chose the BOGO because I love good deals!! I was blown away! Their boba is so good and the milk tea was really good too. Can't wait to see what their BOGO deal is next week! Definitely coming back when I'm in the area. read more

I've been waiting to try this place for a while, and finally got the chance. I got three items, and it came out to under $28. The Rose Dreamer Oolong is SO good!! I didn't know if I'd like it because some places have too much rose flavor and some don't have enough. It was perfect. I got it with 50% ice and 70% sweet. It was plenty sweet. If you like rose or floral flavors, I would highly recommend it. I also got the Basil Seed Wintermelon Calamansi tea for my mom. She said it was good. I ordered umeyaki with black sesame filling. One order came with four pieces. I was looking forward to this. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed with the filling. I was expecting the lava ooze that most black sesame fillings have (think tangyuan fillings), but it was grainy. It seemed like some of the granulated sugar didn't melt because I saw them in the filling. The black sesame flavor was strong. Service was good, and the person helping me explained things well. He also helped me tape the lid for my Rose Dreamer Oolong because he said the cap is finnicky and he didn't want my drink to spill. I didn't get his name, but shout out to him! There's a parking lot off 5th and 6th street that you can park in. Beware...if you go around mealtimes, there's very limited parking. You're going to be circling the structure several times. It's not that big, and some spaces are reserved for Cathay Bank and etc. Beware again...when you're circling the parking structure you have to be very careful. Other people are also circling, and they don't care if you need to get by. There were several times I almost got hit by another car because they were too busy looking for parking spots and not paying attention to where they were going. If you can find street parking, that might be a safer option! read more
Besides the Berry sangria, their mango mint mojito green tea is another top contender and ofc - their ember oolong, jasmine green, and four seasons in milk tea form with their taro ball trifecta!! I mainly go for this topping or those 2 fruity drinks. For their fruit teas, 50% sweet, for their milk tea based drinks, 75% sweet. Always hits the spot for me. Pricey but quality tea imo! read more
I went for the B1G1 boba oolong milk tea series. They offered the Ember oolong Boba milk tea at the Temple City location, and the Frozen Summit Oolong boba milk tea at the Alhambra location. The drink itself was okay, but not something I'd order again. The tea taste was more on the light side and the boba wasn't chewy. Next time I'll be back to order my usual. Staff service was great, the inside was clean and spacious with lots of tables. Some tables are equipped with lamps and power outlets, which would make this is a good place for people looking to study. They have a parking lot in the back. read more
Clean and modern interior. Quick and friendly service. And best of all, I absolutely love the quality of the tea here. They have plenty of tables so it's a great place to relax and catch up with friends. While there are some people who bring their laptops to work or study, it is a little loud for me with the combination of the music and people who come here to catch up with friends. There is a gender neutral bathroom here, so feel free to drink without worrying. read more

Always a go to drink place whenever I'm in the 626! All of the fruit teas I've tried are really refreshing, and even tho I get 0% sweet the drinks are still sweet. Love the basil seed topping as well as the aiyu jelly. The cashiers here are all really attentive and always give me good recs! There's a lot of seating in this boba shop too so I would imagine it's a great place to do work. read more
Sweet and friendly staff with true to flavor fruit teas. Passionfruit is super sweet even with 30% sweetness so a word of caution. The staff remade with less passion furit and was much more tolerable. The pomelo grapefruit mango was decent. Wished there was a bit more grapefruit /pomelo. Overall a cute spot to work with plenty of outlets and enough seating for moderate traffic. Parking was a breeze in the garage. read more
We ordered the sesame typhoon, oolong milk tea and new arrival: black sesame midnight. We LOVED all the drinks! I absolutely love black sesame however consistently get disappointed by black sesame drinks. However this one is SO GOOD! The black sesame taste is really strong and it's quite nutty. I would recommend the 50% sweetness because at 50% it already was quite sweet. - The typhoon blended consistency was perfect with the blended ice shards yet smooth texture. - The black sesame midnight is a black sesame panna cotta x black sesame crème foam. I loved the panna cotta, it's smooth yet grainy from the sesame while the crème foam on top is basically just the black sesame typhoon drink. - The oolong milk tea was a really nice tea flavor and the boba is perfectly chewy. Service was fast and there is a good amount of tables for seating. For parking, we just parked across the street! read more

Can we bring our dogs in and sit there inside?
I would assume no, unless they're a service dog. I don't think pets are usually allowed indoors and there's no outdoor patio here.
Has anyone tried the taro ball trifecta topping? Is it good? Please describe!
its good.
