Been eating here for years but finally leaving a short review. There is really no other Katsu place nearby that does it like Kazu Mori. Like others have said, portion sizes are MASSIVE and can easily feed 2 people. The sauces for the cabbage and katsu are delicious. I've had their curry sauce and cheese katsu as well and those were also all delicious. Their udons were okay, but the main attraction is their chicken or pork katsu. 5/5 definitely would come back every now and then when I'm craving katsu! read more

I had been wanting to try this spot inside H Mart because it's highly rated on Yelp. The portions looked generous, and I finally found someone to share the meal with. We ordered the chicken and pork curry katsu combo, which came as a full set with miso soup and rice. It was definitely enough for two people. The katsu was crispy, though I wouldn't say it was the best I've ever had--but it was still very good. I was satisfied with the meal and couldn't even finish it, so I had to take the leftovers home. Delicious local spot with huge portions! The chicken katsu was juicy and fried beautifully. Comes with sauces for the salad and chicken ( I'm not sure what they're called but the creamy one I used for the cabbage and the darker sauce I used for the katsu) lots of searing and it gets really busy! Located inside of H-Mart in their food court section. My order was ready pretty quickly in about 10 min. Chicken Katsu - The portions are HUGE. The chicken, and cabbage were plentiful. Feels like they shredded a whole cabbage onto my plate! Definitely appreciated it with the sauce too. The chicken was so crispy. The sauce it came with was perfectly sweet too. The rice was incredibly soft but I do wish there was just a little bit more of it. This plate also came with a cup of warm miso soup. An incredible amount of delicious food for around 20 bucks. Well worth it. The ordering process was really simple. They'll call your number over the loud speaker so you don't have to be near the restaurant and can wait at your table. This is one of my favorite Katsu places in the SGV and came back again to grab some katsu for lunch. I went with the Chicken Katsu (17.99) this time for to-go. There was no line to order since I went a while after they just opened. They are located in the food court of Hmart, and there are some tables there for dine in seating. I walked around Hmart while I waited for my order. It only took around 15 minutes for it to be done, and they have a speaker system in the food court that calls out the order number and the restaurant name, but you can only hear it in the food court. The Chicken Katsu comes with miso soup, salad, and white rice. They also give some sauce for the katsu and salad. The portions are still very big for the price and very worth especially in this economy. I was able to eat this for two meals! The taste is also amazing! The skin is fried to perfection and the seasoned deliciously! I definitely recommend this trying the katsu here if you are in the SGV! read more

I got their pork and chicken curry. Both the pork and chicken curry looked almost exactly the same, and when I tasted them, they pretty much tasted the same too. It was hard to tell which was which! Maybe if they could've marked the box. I got take out since it would be nice to eat at home. You can eat inside the food court as well. It was a bit on the expensive side, costing $18.99, but you definitely get a lot for your money. They give you a huge amount of meat! Like 3 slabs but all cut up in strips. So, if you're super hungry and want a ton of food, this place will fill you up. It comes with a nice cup of miso soup, shredded cabbage salad and a heaping scoop of white rice. Overall, it was great! We went on Monday night when it's not too crowded we waited for our food for maybe 10 min. They have people ordering all the time. the workers are friendly and on top of everything. You can ask them questions about their menu or even ask for a bag to use for leftovers. The fish katsu is actually better than the pork katsu, reminds us of Thai fried fish without the spicy apple sauce. The curry to dip with or pour on is good The tables at the food court area are usually clean. If not you have to flag one of the workers to bus the table. I eat here five or six times now and my favorite that I get every time because it always taste so good it's a Katsu curry It is great it's got a heat to it but not so much that you don't want to eat it it makes you wanna eat more the amount of food in one order you receive is enough for two grown adult adults. This is our second time ordering from here via Uber eats. The first time we ordered we got: 2 orders of the mixed pork & chicken katsu meal that came with cabbage salad, soup, rice and curry. We asked for extra sauces on the side as well. Oh boy they did not skimp on the food or the extra condiments we asked for! I reviewed their yelp prior to ordering & told my husband we should just get one order since it seemed like big portions but we got two just in case. The portions are quite generous but I'm not complaining. FYI: If the katsu isn't crispy enough once you get the food, just reheat it & it will still taste good! The curry wasn't too spicy the first time we ordered it (we wished it was). But today (1/19/25) the spicy level was perfect. We've had katsu from Hawaiian spots (I know, totally different) but this place is a must try if you want good Japanese food + katsu or just want to try something different. Worth the money. Ordered on Uber Eats for dinner one night and was so impressed!! Portions are massive, it's packaged incredibly well, and the food is delicious. We will definitely order from them again. We ordered two curry fish katsu plates, some edamame, and the cheese katsu appetizer. Their edamame is lovely - it comes with a spicy seasoning on it that has a perfect kick of heat and flavor. That cheese katsu was insanely good!! It's mozzarella wrapped in pork katsu and wow - that's the first time I've ever had that and it was over the top fantastic - definitely a new fave for me. Our curry fish katsu plates were absolutely enormous- they come with four giant pieces of nice pollock - yes FOUR - monstrous pieces of fish, as well as a large bed of rice and cabbage salad AND a cup of miso soup. All of it was wonderful. Their miso soup is SO flavorful. And the fish has a nice fish-to-breading ratio. The curry sauce that it comes with is heavenly!! It's a tad spicy but soooo good. Given the portions and the quality, prices are very reasonable. Next time we'll probably just order one plate and share bc it's so generous. They also package everything tighter than Fort Knox lol - I could tell that the Uber driver threw our bag around bc it was in total disarray but there were no leaks in anything - all the miso soups and sauces were air tight!! We arrived around 3:05 pm (a real late lunch) and ended up ordering: Curry Chicken, $17.99 prior to tax- All katsu sets come with rice, a side of miso soup and cabbage salad. Just as other fellow Yelp members had mentioned, this is quite a lot of food and more than plenty for 2 people to share. This meal is served with 2 large chicken cutlets that was fried perfectly and not oily. The curry is placed in a container on the side, which was nice and thick. But is a little spicy (I'm not much of a spicy eater but my husband is and didn't think it was spicy, lol). The cabbage salad was quite a large size and I like the sesame dressing that was served on the sided. --------------------------------- (Total= $19.83 after) After you order, you are given a number and your number, along with the name of the restaurant will be announced when your order is ready. However on the day of our visit, the PA system was not calling out the order numbers from Kazu Mori for some reason so my husband had to walk back a few times to ask if our order was ready since we were not sitting right in front of the restaurant (we sat in front of Kyodong Noodle). So we didn't get our food until after 25 minutes after paying for our order. I think it may have been ready sooner if had sat in front of the restaurant and watched for it to be ready (oh well, the food was still very good). Eating chicken katsu isn't something made for me to eat all the time but I do like Kazu Mori's katsu and their curry. I will definitely be back here again. read more
