It probably should had been a red flag that this ramen place was pretty empty and that there was not much of a line. I didn't have to wait for seating during peak dinner time and I was basically immediately seated. The menu is all on a QR code and there is a few options. It's not a build your own ramen per se since a lot of these are preconfigured. They do have extra toppings but bamboo is not an option. The ramen itself was not bad in terms of flavor but I would say the portion size is a bit small for the price. I could probably eat 2 in 1 sitting honestly. The interior of this place is not bad, lots of Naruto posters and pictures around to set the theme. They don't play it on TV though. Service isn't much since they give you the entire bottle of water to refill your own cup. The only thing they do for you is bring out your food or get you a napkin. Overall just okay, small portion, high cost, no bamboo as a topping, and just okay flavor. I would say there are better ramen shops but this would do in a pinch. read more

The takoyaki had a lightly crisp exterior, savory gooey interior, and tender piece of octopus. The gyoza reminded me of the dumplings my grandma used to order and had a thin wrapping and savory pork filling. Would be nice if they were a bit crispier tho. My partner recommended this spot as a dinner option on a rainy weekday. Parking was easy in a sizeable lot. Interior is pretty standard for a Ramen shop, moderate amount of tables and cool points for having Naruto decorations on the wall. As this occasion wasn't too busy, we were able to sift through the menu (through QR code) and we found plenty of menu options that were labeled: "Award Winning" so we had to try it. My partner and I both respectively got the Kai Black and Kai White ramen bowls. The Kai White is the awarding winning ramen and certainly wasn't disappointed. One part that is underrated is the kikurage in the bowl. The pork belly is delicious and not too salty, and the egg is a nice touch to the bowl. I'd say though, the skinny noodles is pretty unique from your usual ramen bowl. Usually, the noodles aren't as skinny as the ones here but it was still quite delicious. Our ramen bowls came out fairly quick and as soon as we received it, the aroma was already flowing through. Presentation and portions are pretty standard, very much Japanese vibes. Love it overall. Overall, a decent Ramen spot. Definitely returning in the future to try the other dishes on their sizeable menu. Plenty of options besides ramen like Tsukemen and Mazesoba to try. I've been meaning to try Kai Ramen for some time. This is located in the same plaza as JJ bakery, Phoenix, and sushi Kisen. Parking is relatively easy. The interior of the restaurant had Naruto drawings on the wall, which reminded me of the other Ramen shop in El Monte. The menu is a QR code, so no pictures, but they did have a menu with specials. On average, the ramen bowls were between $16-19, and they have an option to make the bowls a combo for five dollars, where you get a choice of chashu rice bowl or takoyaki, and a soda. The menu was extensive, with non-Ramen dishes included such as curry rice and tsukemen. Food: - Kai's White Ramen: The menu says award-winning, and it was pretty good with a butteriness to it although I wasn't a fan of their thin ramen since it reminded me of regular Chinese egg noodles. Came with two pieces of chashu and half a seasoned egg. - Kai's Red Ramen: This tasted saltier than the white ramen. The spicy level was tolerable. We ordered this one as a combo. - Chashu rice bowl: I enjoyed this! It reminded me of a teriyaki bowl. The corn was a nice touch, and chashu was marinated to be on the sweeter side. - Spicy tuna crispy rice: Comes with four pieces, each with a small scoop of spicy tuna, topped with a slice of jalapeño, and covered with spicy mayo. With the combo, it came with Chashu Rice Bowl, but it was too sweet for our liking. We did like the calamari but it was a little soggy by the time we got it home (10mins away).
