We were pleasantly surprised by the interior update that they've done to the space, it def adds more character and warmth to the restaurant. We also ordered one Mountain Hand Roll which is named appropriately - it is humongous! We also got the Sunshine roll which was also yummy. Their rice is on the chewier and drier side, the taste of vinegar is also more mild than most places, imo. Service was def the highlight of our visit - there was a little bit of wait on the rolls, and our server surprised us with a crispy rice sushi on the house! Half way through the meal, there was a mishap where one of the servers walked into another and knocked over some waters, it wasn't a big deal since it was just water and only a little got onto us, but they graciously gave us a nice discount on the final bill. We ordered right away, but it took a while for all of our food to come out. We waited for a long time and the staff was cognizant of the delay. After bringing out all of our food, they accompanied it with a complimentary plate of salmon with a side of salad. Despite the wait, we were positively surprised by how big the portions were considering their price. If we had known in advance, we would have ordered less food and still been satisfied with our meals. I ordered the Seafood Udon. Personally, the udon I've had at other restaurants comes in a much smaller bowl. This one comes with a serving ladle, suggesting that it's meant to be shared with someone else. It was a large serving portion that I shared with my partner. This restaurant is open until 9:30pm on most days and 10:00pm on others. It's located within a small plaza with other establishments that seemed closed by the time we left. They brought over menus and then right after we got miso soup each. In the menu, I noticed they made some changes! Their no rice roll options was intriguing. We ordered our standard lunch bento/combo of 2 items to share since we wanted more rolls as well. We got mixed the combo with tempura and sashimi. Next for the rolls, we got Tim special roll. It has lemon slices on top and I don't really eat sliced lemons but together with the salmon and sauce it was actually really good! Of course we ordered Philadelphia roll and Rock N Roll (we actually like cream cheese in our rolls lol so it was our chance to eat some sick e we rarely get to order them with others around!). Whole waiting for our order, since they just opened and we were the only ones there, the owner/manager was so sweet to bring in a complimentary salad with salmon and tuna. Very refreshing to have before our meal! Overall, I'm still having a great time at Maki and Sushi. They have very nice desert selection but given I was out of time we didn't order any. Also, we only spent less than 45 minutes here! I think the trick is to get here right when they open to avoid any lunch or dinner rushes!
