Customer service here is very kind and accommodating. Pretty frugal prices $40.84 after tax for everything. We came here for lunch and they automatically gave us two paper plates for sharing our two main dishes without us asking, also gave us 2 mini banana muffins as a complimentary appetizer when they brought out our drinks. This is more of a takeout Thai spot since they serve all items in to-go containers, however you can dine-in at the few number of tables inside. Ambience was open-spaced, modern with comfortable A/C. Parking out front of the restaurant is limited to about 5 or 6 parking spaces. This restaurant is located on the border of Monrovia and Arcadia. Drinks: Cucumber Drink was refreshing and has a lime-esque cucumber flavor; my friend enjoyed it. I thought it was okay, just not my preference. I had the Thai Tea and it was well-made, balanced sweetness and you can still taste the black tea itself. Food: While I enjoyed the Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) with shrimp and it tasted made-to-order fresh, I thought the Green Curry was alright (fyi: rice is not included with it, it's a separate charge). I think there were charred black bits in the curry sauce from the pan or pot they cooked in wasn't washed/scrapped enough from whatever they cooked in it beforehand. Also, I think I saw some tiny hair pieces in it (which I initially thought was seasoning or herbs). And my friend even said she saw an eyelash hair on one of the pieces of the veggies in the curry. I know they are a family-owned spot that is fairly new, but can your staff please try to use hair nets while cooking? So that this doesn't happen to other customers who order any dish here. The curry dish had a good slightly spicy mild flavor and tasted fresh (could've been a little thicker consistency), but from what I described above of the charred black bits and the tiny hairs here and there in the curry, I have been turned off from ordering that particular dish or any curry dishes here again. However, I would still come back for their delish Pad Kee Mao. read more

Sangdara is a Thai restaurant located in Monrovia across from CVS off Foothill and 5th. It replaced a dry cleaner that was here before. There is a free parking lot on site that can fit about 7 cars. There is also street parking available. This is a casual eatery and more of a take-out concept. All the food is placed in to-go containers. You can choose to eat at the restaurant and there are about 6 tables. I got the spicy drunken noodles with tofu and it was delicious! It definitely hit the spot for me. I got it medium spicy and it was perfect. I know I will be coming back for more in the near future. Service was good. read more

What a perfect addition in the north Arcadia/Monrovia area!!! Friendly service, family owned and cute elderly parents peeking out every so often! Located at the old Knight Cleaners building. I feel the pricing is lower than the other Thai places near and on first ave. Thai tea, pad Thai with chicken, pad see ew with pork, papaya salad, mango sticky rice, tapioca cup, and coconut jelly. Pad Thai with chicken- not as orange as other places, they put the peanuts in a separate container, and the chicken was tender! Seasoning was on the lighter side. Pad see ew with pork- perfect seasoning! Not too sweet, not too salty. The pork was tender too! Papaya salad-nice and refreshing. I don't think the papaya was freshly grated, but the dish is still yummy!! I love the green beans in it!! Only wish it had a kick of spice. Mango sticky rice- is already pre-made and refrigerated in the display case. Wish it was made to order. Tapioca cup - thick coconut cream layer on top of sweet sticky rice and corn. Coconut jelly- your typically coconut jelly, but beautiful shapes and color!! Almost didn't want to eat it because it was so cute! From what the lady said, the desserts are made by someone else. I didn't notice if they had any hot sauce or chili vinegar. I like my food spicy! I am already planning to go back and play food roulette and try out all the dishes! I will also be dining in. I love supporting small businesses. I was on the way to class and wanted to pick up some soup to go. I was pleasantly surprised I was able to call in an order to pick up. I ordered Tom Yum soup with chicken medium spicy. It was ready when I got there and the lady at the register was so friendly. I got a nice 16oz bowl of soup for $8! You can't beat that. Hidden gem with authentic, delicious Thai food! Was craving Thai cuisine and so glad I stumbled across this spot on Yelp. The food at Sangdara is delightful, and so are the owner and employees here. We were even given cucumber drinks for free for being first time customers. Beyond grateful for the kind gesture and welcome. We ordered Pad Thai (w/ beef), Pad See Ew (w/ chicken), and Yellow Curry (no meat). Everything was made fresh, it was flavorful, and the portions were just right. The cucumber drinks are divine. So refreshing on a hot summer day, and paired with the restaurant's charming ambiance, lifted my spirits. The owner is very kind, and is always taking suggestions for new menu items from customers so they've added catfish fillet and Thai omelette to the menu. They'll remove items that don't do well, so help curate their menu by ordering up your favorite items -- or requesting new ones. The restaurant itself is located on the corner across from CVS on Foothill. The lot is a bit oddly shaped and tiny (you'll see what I mean if you pull up), but parking is ample in the area if you can't find a spot directly in front. Went in to check out this new place and was so surprised to find the former owner of Saladang (Pasadena) behind the counter. Having sold her first pride and joy in 2015, this is her post retirement return to doing something fun but at a slower pace. She saw this location and has been working for the past 2 years refurbing the former dry cleaning space to suit her taste. You might notice very clean lines, colors, and finishing touches from the window treatment to the plantings outside--there is pride in this place. It reflects in the food served- simple, no frills, less oil, minimal extra sugar, leaner cuts of protein all reflect her sentiment of being healthy and taking life slowly but enjoying each moment. Take out Thai restaurant that took over the former Knight dry cleaners. They do provide paper plates and plastic utensils to dine in, but space is limited to maybe 3 or 4 tables. So far Sangdara is my preferred Thai restaurant in the area. I will reorder the following: egg rolls, chicken wings, chicken sate, spicy basil fried rice with ground beef and egg, pad see ew, and mango sticky rice. Pad thai was a little bland according to my Thai mother and father in-law, and the chicken chow mein did contain a tiny metal tie from vegetables. New Thai restaurant in town so had to give it a try. They open at 10am making it very convenient. They have a small parking lot but seems set up more for take out so think parking situation is OK. I came in on Saturday 4/25 for the first time and it was WONDERFUL!! I have been eyeing this place since I drive past everyday on my way to work and see that they will open soon. Well that are OPEN!! New Thai place in town and we have been back three times already!! The kind older woman working there, Dang, is great to talk to and takes pride in the food. She's happy to accommodate requests and made me a very spicy pad thai the other day . Maybe a little too spicy but it was so good, and I asked for it! They have the bestttt pad kee mao (drunken noodles) here. My wife and I are obsessed. I've tried a few different things and they all hit. She usually gives me a cucumber drink and while I and my wife don't like cucumber, for whatever reason, my wife really likes this drink. It's balanced with the citrus nicely. They make thai tea the right way here, too, and sometimes have cute little desserts. The food at Sangdara was so good that I ate there twice in one week! Their pad kee mao is excellent! The best I've had in the SGV. The papaya salad was fresh and perfectly seasoned. They had a memorable tapioca with coconut. It wasn't available the second time I went but that was fine since they also had a yummy mango sticky rice! While I waited for my food, they gave me a refreshing cucumber drink which I highly recommend on a hot summer day. Sangdara may be small and tucked away at the corner of Foothill and 5th but it's BIG when it comes to delicious food, friendly and efficient service, reasonable prices, and a well-maintained restaurant. By the way, the owner spent some time chatting with me and she is a sweetheart! She mentioned possibly adding a different dish to the menu. So the menu might change a bit as she experiments with what dishes people order. Each time I've stopped by, there's always a table available if you want to eat there. Sangdara is a must visit to eat! We stopped in to order takeout for lunch. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We ordered pad see ew chicken and bbq chicken with a side of white rice. While we waited, one of the workers gave us cucumber juice for free while we waited. Not only was it such a kind and generous gesture, but the cucumber juice was AMAZING. When we got home to open the food, we were pleasantly surprised with how large the portion sizes are. Our bbq chicken was so much that it came in two boxes even though we only got one order. The pad see ew was packed with chicken as well. Pricing is also super reasonable which is a plus. I've had lots of wonderful Thai food over the many decades, and Sandara is a new pop up kitchen in Arcadia. I've been wanting to try it since it's opening, and finally did. I called in my order, and it was easy, staff friendly. Upon arriving for pick up, I entered, and noticed the basic, simple setup for the restaurant. I noticed two Hispanic guys preparing the food, and that was the first red flag. They were almost finished making my order, and before it was sealed up, I had asked for lime and cilantro. The person was thoughtful, and said she added the items. I mentioned it was my first visit. After getting home, and opening the containers, I noticed right away how basic it all looked. After mixing the little bit carrot, bean sprouts, and very small amount of chopped peanuts, squeezing the single lime provided, and tasting it, I knew I would never go back for more. Flavorless, boring. I also ordered an appetizer and Thai Ice Tea. The only thing good was the Thai ICE Tea. Sorry to say, after spending 25.00, I won't be back. read more

Let's Be Honest For the Sake of Integrity. I'm glad a new business went in. Service is friendly. It is setup as more of a take out business as seating is limited and food is served in plastic takeout containers, regardless of dining in. But that is not the reason for my review. The food is average Thai for SGV. For reference, when I want local Thai I like Khin Khao, Chim, and Janjeira. We tried the Orange Chicken, Crispy Catfish, and Red Curry with chicken. Rice is extra. Food execution is average / bland. I do not think we would ever order any of these dishes from here again. read more
