This place is our favorite Thai restaurant in SGV, warm atmosphere and staffs are friendly as always. This time we ordered pork jerky, it's our favorite appetizer. For the main dish, I tried Hollywood Pad Thai, was very tasty, big portion, the noodles were perfectly cooked, big shrimp mixed with their secret sauces. also my husband ordered Duck noodles, he said the duck meat is soft and the soup was really nice well balanced taste. Been here several times over the years, but first time I noticed they participated in DineLA, so we took a short drive here. This review is based on one recent visit only since the owner told me they took over the business a year ago. The interior is spacious and clean. There's a small kiddy foosball table too. Classy lounge music doesn't really fit the Thai vibe is still nice. DineLA menu: We got tofu and vegetables, papaya salad with sticky rice and fried bananas. All were served in a single plate. Another item was Hollywood grilled chicken, chicken skewers, jasmine rice and fried bananas, also in a single plate. The chicken skewers were served with a dollop of peanut butter. One piece of tender, another was dry. The grilled chicken. He said it's chicken breast, but I got a leg quarter, served with a sweet & spicy sauce. Without it, the meat was bland. We also ordered Drunken Noodles (pad kee mao) with chicken. The menu was a bit misleading so the chicken was an extra charge. Other Thai places include some kind of protein. Unfortunately the chicken was dry and tough and the noodles didn't have that hot fire wok taste. The service was very friendly and personable. But for me, the food didn't wow me. Redemption! I saw they were offering a DineLA menu, and since this location has changed ownership, I wanted to give them another shot after my disappointing experience last time. I'm glad I did. They've clearly cleaned up the place, dining in is now much more comfortable and noticeably cleaner. Service was solid as well. We were consistently checked on and asked how everything was. Overall, the food was good, especially for DineLA. From the menu, I tried the following: Fish Cake - Simple but tasty appetizer. Nothing fancy, but enjoyable. (4/5) Hollywood Wonton - Crispy, well-fried, and flavorful. Pretty good overall. (4/5) Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken & Grilled Prawn - Surprisingly delicious. Simple, comforting, and packed with flavor. Probably my favorite dish of the night. (4.5/5) Crying Tiger with Sticky Rice - Tasty and straightforward. My only complaint is that the beef portion was pretty limited, and it's not a dish that leaves you feeling very full. (4/5) Fried Banana - This was a bit different. We have been here twice this month for lunch. The first time we got water & tableware quickly but the second time we had to wait a while. Nevertheless, the food was fresh & tasty. We have tried Prik King, Khao Soi with tofu, Yen Ta Fo, Rad Na & Fish Cake. We enjoyed every dish, but my favorite was Khao Soi, & the presentation was catchy. Lunch specials are available on the weekend, and for an additional $3, you get a Thai Tea which is not overly sweet. The space is simple, roomy & clean. It was relatively quiet (not busy) both times we ate there. Our server was polite & attentive. She never let Hubby's glass of water fall below halfway. Stopped by here to try their Thai food and was pleasantly surprised. The place had the vibe like you were dining at your Thai aunt's kitchen. Our server was busy wearing different hats all evening and was incredibly kind to all of his customers. He graciously gave us a complimentary Thai iced tea that was delicious! Was craving Thai food on a weekday evening, and came across Hollywood Noodle House on Yelp. I've actually driven by multiple times, but I don't think I've ever tried it out. They're located on Live Oak a few stores down from Savers. There's a small lot in the back for parking. We were actually the first customers of the night and the restaurant was empty when we got there, but more customers came after us, and there was a steady flow of people picking up their takeout orders while we dined in. We were able to talk to the owner, who told us that he had recently taken over and was revamping the menu and the interior dining room. He shared with us that while he's Chinese, his wife is Thai and the brains behind the recipes that they have on the menu. He threw in two drinks on the house, which was incredibly kind. The coffee was good, but I enjoyed the Thai tea more. Not too sweet, super refreshing! Thai papaya salad - $12.95, super refreshing and fulfilled my craving. Papaya was shredded with carrots, peanuts and green beans, and had a side of cabbage. The acidity was perfect, and not too sour. Tom Yum noodle soup - $15.95, came with the option of chicken or shrimp. There was a good amount of rice noodles and chicken, but not much in the soup itself. Loved the flavor of the tom yum but felt it was slightly on the pricier side. Yellow curry - $10.95 plus added protein of chicken $3.99. This came with a side of rice. The curry was not too spicy despite us ordering medium heat. Good amount of potatoes and carrots - flavor was strong and the dish itself was hearty. Overall, great new update to this Thai place! How have I never left a review for this place yet? I've been here so many times and ordered take out from here pretty often too. This place is dang good and underrated. And the owners are so nice. We used them for catering for my baby shower once. They were so good on the follow up too. Anyways the sauce in the beef salad and the pad thai is straight up crack to me lol. It's so savory and tangy and delicious. The papaya salad with crispy pork is also fire. I've never been disappointed with the curry. Or anything I've ordered from here really. I think it's better than some of the other more popular Thai places in the area. I really think it's a hidden gem. read more

I came to this place last night with my wife for dinela and we were caught by surprise. This small mom and pop place had some really good food. Not to mention the great service from the guy. The dinela food all being served at once was a nice twist also. I like eating all my food at once, so that works for me. I had the crying tiger, fish cake, thai donut and shrimp fried rice on the side. All the food was really delicious. The wait was around 15 minutes. A hidden gem in Arcadia! Went for a galentines dinner- they are currently offering a special menu that is available through April, as well as the Valentines special. Food was solid . Pad Thai was delicious and sweet, it'd be perfect with some more sourness to it with the addition of lime. Ka Prao was so good and spicy! I enjoyed the balance of the spice, texture, and the crunchy bell peppers. Crab rangoon was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The mango sticky rice here is the best I have ever tried!! I am so late on this review but this little spot next to Savers is so delicious. So quaint & peaceful. The server/cooks are so pleasant & attentive. I didn't know what to order & my beautiful server helped me choose their signature "Hollywood noodle soup". It was the best soup I've had in years. Definitely made with love & very authentic which is hard to find nowadays. This was some months ago & I feel bad for not writing this review sooner. TL;DR: Khao Soi was really good. Service is good but food took long to get due to being a small place probably. We were looking for Kelso because we are so into that right now found this place on yelp and people were saying how good it was so we had to try it location is tucked in a small strip mall and when we got here at 5:50 and we were the only ones here so a little apprehensive to go in Service was good and we got sat down with menus and waters immediately. Order the Khao Soi with chicken and also a spicy tofu dish with ground chicken and basil with a side of rice. Also got two Thai iced teas. The cow soy was really good even the presentation was kind of cool. They use some dry noodles to elevate some chopsticks to look like it was floating in air. The spicy tofu and chicken with basil was really good too, but it is almost like a Chinese dish. The food was good, but I would have to say the drawback is that the kitchen is pretty slow. The server many times had to say sorry the food is taking so long to multiple tables while we were there and had to apologize. Not his fault but thinking that this place is really small. Maybe the kitchen is not prepared to start cooking immediately. It has people enter. The food is good small little restaurant I would say kind of a mom and pop, but the speed of the food coming to you could be better. I would come back though. read more

Wow -- blast from the past. the last time i step foot in this restaurant was back in early 2000. and now 20 yrs later... i revisited Hollywood Noodle House with a friend and it brought back so many memories. I met up with my friend for dinner yesterday and was greeted by a friendly staff and later learned that he's the owner. His wife is Thai and they take turn watching the restaurant. The owner was very nice when I entered the restaurant, i think he knew the weather was scorching hot outside so he quickly brought me a cup of ice water and then later asked me if the AC was okay. he went to turn the AC higher to cool the restaurant down. when my friend couldn't find the item from the menu we asked if he can customize one of the soups and he was very nice about it and told us that since the restaurant is slow today he was sure the kitchen can recreate the dish that my friend once had there. we were both very grateful for that. i ordered my go to Thai dish which was the drunken noodle and it was great! i loved my medium spiced drunken noodles. prices are way more affordable than so many other Thai places. while catching up with my friend the owner gave us each a Thai Iced Coffee on the house - super nice of him. overall our food was delicious. with so many restaurants opening up in the surrounding city / area it's hard to keep up which place to try, which place to return to. And i'm glad my friend brought me back to Hollywood Noodle because this is a restaurant that was forgotten in my mind. and it is tucked in a very small quiet strip mall where it's very easy to be missed. i hope this review will bring in new customers to give this place a try to support a mom-pop shop or to bring back old customers who were once a high school student or a college student to bring their family to give this place another chance or nostalgia. read more

This place is truly a hidden gem. One of the better tasting Thai restaurants in town. They offer daily specials on certain dishes for only $10! I stopped by on a Friday and it was boat noodle (single serving). It was yummy and packed with flavor. I got spicy and it was the perfect level of kick. Tempted to try the Thai spicy next time. The Khai Soi is incredible. It is one of the best I've had in southern California, better than chiang rai in Long Beach, better than Manaao in Tustin. Yes, it really is that good. The owner is sweet, she let me in on the secret that, while they follow a strict recipe for the Khao Soi, it is best on the weekends because a 70 year old grandma makes it.
