Been wanting to try this Thai restaurant for a while and finally made it here for lunch. We ordered pad see ew and boat noodle soup. Pad see ew is my husband's favorite dish and it's how he judges a Thai restaurant. It came out quickly and we like there's a sprinkle of pepper salt on the dish. However, there is a sour, tangy flavor in the pad see ew that we don't enjoy. The boat noodle soup tasted very heavy in soy sauce but lack depth in flavor. So it's mostly just saltiness. There is also a sprinkle of pepper salt on the noodle soup as well. Overall we found the dishes a bit underwhelming. The service was friendly. The staff were nice and they smiled and said thank you as we walk out of the restaurant. The restaurant is clean and pleasant.

First time here. Party of 2. Herbal Sausage appetizer - I was not a fan of the herbal flavor. Pork Shank over rice - The pork was cooked to perfection and everything in the bowl was delicious! Minced Pork over rice - The pork was only okay; nothing special with this dish. Overall, it was a nice restaurant with good service. The food was a little on the expensive side for what you get. Nothing really wowed me.

Very nice Thai eatery, they have a limited number menus with photos so you may have to wait for another table to finish salivating over the pictures before you get your chance. Otherwise the experienced Thai eatery will know what the dishes look like. Our group of four ordered the Thai Omelet featuring both chicken and egg in one dish-think about that!! The Drunken Noodle was delicious but I was disappointed it didn't have more vegetables. Certainly there was room in the bowl for more of natures bounty. Green curry, always a favorite did satisfy our palate. Parking is easy in the big storefront lot.

This just became one of my favorite Thai restaurants in the area! That beef massaman was amazing and loved the chicken massaman as well! The meat in both dishes were so tender and the flavor was perfect. The restaurant was clean and comfortable to sit in, service was awesome, and easy parking in the plaza.

We recently dined here and the service was super friendly and interior was clean. The menu is simple but has a nice variety of Thai dishes, some classics and some I had never seen before. We got the Mamas Tom Yum Noodle which had meatballs, shrimp, mushrooms and egg yolk. The noodles were springy and the ingredients were fresh. I wish the broth had a little more flavor besides the lime and was a smidge thicker but overall it was still a good dish and the presentation was nice. We also got the Massaman Beef curry which was a great thickness with the peanut butter and had a nice portion of beef that was tender. Paired with a scoop of rice, I think the overall portion was good. The Longan drink was not too sweet and tasted very similar to the canned which was nostalgic!

My BF saw some TikToks about this place so we decided to get it for dinner tonight. We ordered: - Thai Herbal Sausage - Chicken Manow - Ground Beef Pan Fried Noodle - Green Chicken Curry - Cha Yen (Thai Tea) Our favorites were the Thai Herbal Sausage and Chicken Green Curry. The sausage had great flavor and eggplant gave the green curry an added bonus texture. The Chicken Manow had good flavor as well. We liked the Ground Beef Pan Fried Noodle, but it was a little on the sweet side. I did like their Thai tea, it wasn't too sweet. All in all, their flavors are good and different than the usual orders we get a most Thai places. Their service was friendly. We just wish the portions were larger for the price we paid, especially the rice for the green curry. But this place is definitely worth the try!

Kin Khao in Monrovia is a must-try. Their Pad Thai is carefully curated and absolutely delicious--don't miss the subtle flavor of the mini toasted shrimp, which really takes you back to Thailand with every bite. The chicken satay is also very tasty, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. On top of the great food, the staff is super friendly and welcome making the whole experience even better. Special food, warm service, and a place I'll definitely return to. Thank you for serving great food

Food tastes great! Their Chicken manow is the most unique with the citrus of the lime balanced by their sauce and the crunchiness of the fried broccoli. We had their boat noodle soup last time with a great flavorful broth and this time had their Pad Thai -- pretty standard but definitely tastes great and hits the spot! A little pricey but the food is nice overall!! Service is pretty quick and food comes out. They are a nice family run shop in the area! Generally a very well kept restaurant. We also tried their Longan Juice which tasted very similar to wintermelon.

Kin Khao is a hidden gem located in Monrovia and the sweetest thing is that it is family-owned. We have literally met the entire family and they are all so friendly. Unlike other Thai places we've visited, this restaurant focuses on homestyle cooking allowing us to try unique dishes we don't typically find on other menus. We love the Pork Shank Over Rice, Fried Chicken Over Turmeric Rice, and the Thai Boat Noodles. All of which are very flavorful. For dessert, don't forget the Mango Sticky Rice. The rice is sweetened and very fragrant compared to other places. Definitely a winner. Service is great and you get your food pretty quickly. Whenever we dine in, it's also very efficient. Highly recommend this place if you're in the area.

Beef or pork? Don't think it's chicken.

Was in the mood for Thai food and this place came up. Food was really good and if you go during lunch time you get a free drink. Choice of Thai tea or hibiscus tea. Place was very clean and roomy. Our server was very respectful of our time, we had time to look through the menu and ask questions. We did not feel rushed to order. Overall I really like this place and would go back and try a different dish. I would say I had a perfect meal but I don't think I got chicken pad Thai. Meat was chewy like beef. Uploaded a picture comment and let me know beef or chicken.

Tried the chicken satay, pad see eew and the tom kha soup. The menu said the soup was large, so naturally you would expect that big pot that you usually get at Thai restaurants, but it was more like a personal sized bowl. The flavor is there but the portions are small and the prices are higher than usual and so is the sodium. It is clean inside and there was one server that did everything minus actually cooking. She tried to be attentive to everyone there.

Finally got to check out this Thai spot for dinner. Plenty of parking in the lot. The restaurant itself is very clean and spacious. The waitress that was helping us was very friendly and upbeat. Since it was just hubby and I, we got the mama tom yum and the pork sausage to share. The mama tom yum had a generous amount of shrimp and chicken meatballs. I like the flavoring of the tom yum soup combined with the mama noodles. The sausage was so delicious. I personally like to wrap the sausage in a wider lettuce wrap so I wish the cabbage was larger pieces and I wish they had raw garlic slices but overall the flavor was good. I believe they have lunch specials so I'll have to come back and check that out another time!

I had the chance to try Kin Khao. This Thai restaurant is different than others I've been to. Dishes that could be found here are ones you probably won't find at a regular Thai restaurant. The absolute standout dish for me was the chicken manow. It's unlike any Thai dish I had before. According to their site, it is "fried minced chicken with crispy Chinese broccoli, tomato, fresh lime, and creamy sweet and sour lime dressing". I ate it with some rice and loved it. I also really enjoyed their mango sticky rice. It definitely hit the spot :)

Summary: 5 stars for taste, portion, price, and service…read more *** My fiance and I visited a few times for lunch and dinner. The restaurant is brightly lit inside and usually plays classy/cozy music overhead. Service is outstanding; they are typically prompt, proactive, and friendly with water refills on point. The owner occasionally checks in on tables, banters with regulars, and talks about his recipes. They sometimes provide complimentary desserts to first-time visitors (I assume if budget allows). Food also comes out quickly. DRINKS ORDERED - Thai Iced Tea ($4.50). Served in a huge glass, the Thai tea is strong, sweet, and creamy. APPETIZERS ORDERED - Sunshine Beef Jerky ($16.95). Sooo tasty! The beef was slightly crispy and dried out, yet soft inside. The marinade was aromatic with a hint of sourness. - Chicken Satay ($15.95 - 6 pcs). Soft and juicy white meat chicken with a mild marinade that was vaguely sweet and fragrant. The peanut dipping sauce was out of this world - very peanut forward and also a little sweet. I put it on everything and even asked for a to go container for the rest! I would have liked the pickled cucumber and onion to be less sweet. - Somtom / Green Papaya Salad ($11.96 + $5 shrimp add on). We asked for spicy level 2, which made my nose run. Green papaya, green beans, carrots, peanuts, and tomato sit on top of roughly chopped iceberg lettuce. The chili lime dressing tasted spicy, sweet, salty, and sour. The shrimp was also good, juicy and plump. I only had difficulty eating the green beans, which were hard and raw. - Chicken Larb ($16.95). This dish was served as a salad instead of a wrap. It had big pieces of ground chicken on top of iceberg lettuce in a flavorful, slightly funky sauce. We got this at level 2 spicy. ENTREES/NOODLES ORDERED - Basil Eggplant with chicken thigh ($14.95). Bright purple egg plant and bell peppers stir fried with fragrant basil in a savory sauce. So good! - Pad Kee Mao / Drunken Noodles with pork ($14.95). This was a stir fry of thick rice noodle, onion, bell pepper, basil, and protein of choice. The pork was yummy with a slightly sweet taste. I liked how the vegetables were tender yet crunchy. I ordered this at level 2 spicy, but I think I could handle level 3 for noodles. - Pad Thai with tofu ($14.95). I enjoyed the chewy, thin rice noodle tossed in a sweet and sour sauce. DESSERTS ORDERED - T-Cup Coconut Cream Cake ($6.99). We received this cake in a cup as a complimentary dessert. It tasted like a dream! There were two layers each of white cake and coconut whipped cream. The sponge had a light and cottony crumb. Shredded coconut added an extra layer of texture and coconut flavor. - Mango Sticky Rice ($13.95 - seasonal Apr to Sept). I think we ordered too early in the season, since the mango was ripe but not as fragrant. The sticky rice was sweet and salty with a fluffy and chewy texture. The dish was good, but a little dry for me since it didn't come with a sauce. - T-Cup Mango Pudding ($6.99). This was also complimentary. I thought it was just okay at first, but the pudding grew on me the more I ate it. The mango pudding tasted nostalgic, like the one you get at dim sum but more real. According to the owner, the pudding is vegan, naturally sweetened, and thickened with agar agar.

We joined their waitlist on their tablet near their counter and we were seated within 5 minutes. Just like the other location in Rowland Heights, it's very busy on a Friday night! The restaurant overall is very clean except near the entrance due to high foot traffic. It's decorated with Chinese lanterns, cherry blossom, and bamboo trees placed in the middle of the restaurant. It almost felt like I was dining at a high end restaurant. It's significantly smaller than the other location, but the high ceilings give it a spacious atmosphere. There are plenty tables and booths. Be aware the booths do move easily when you get out of your seat. We were sat in the booth closest to their entrance which I didn't mind at first, but after a while the high foot traffic was distracting (maybe they could place a divider between the waiting area and the booth). Onto the food, pricing, and service: portion is generous and they are more affordable than the Rowland Height's location. I ordered the Bbq Chicken Fried Rice. Chicken was juicy and flavorful. It was easy to take off the bone. The fried rice was light, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. I couldn't finish my plate (even though I wanted to) so I boxed the rest to take home. My husband got the Continental Fried Rice. A dish Banana Bay is well-known for. The chicken skin was crispy, the fried egg was yolky in the center, the sausages were soft, and the fried rice was consistent with my plate's. Service was great and the staff was attentive even during their peak hours. I gained a sense of relief when more than one waitress checked in on us periodically. Overall, my husband and I had a great first impression. We're already talking about coming back in the near future. The one huge thing…read morethat made this whole experience extremely horrible and unforgettable was the service, or lack of service for better explanation. And I have strongly feeling, we were discriminated because we were not of Asian ethnicity and because we were Latino. When we sat down it took them about 20 minutes to receive the menus, and another 20 to get water while at the same time every other table was being tended to multiple times. When I would raise my hand for service the "employees" who worked there would just look at me with my raised hand and continue to ignore me. When we ordered our food after almost 30 minutes of just sitting there, this Asian woman who refused to give me her name , came to our table and just took the chili sauce tray from our table and said "I'm going to use this for the other table since you guys don't have food, and I'll bring you one later." I said that was fine since we were still waiting on our food. 20 minutes later passed, and our food comes out. I asked the nice Asian gentleman who brought our food if I can get forks and spoons, since he didn't bring any to us. And he completely ignored me and walked away. So we had to sit there with our food with no utensils and no chili tray. I tried to get the attention of the Asian woman who took our chili tray so we can get one since our food arrived and the same Asian women server completely ignored me the whole time and only attended to her side of the restaurant. I don't understand the whole lack of customer service to people who clearly are not Asian, the ambiance felt off and you could totally feel the discrimination and different kind of treatment received. So after 10 minutes of just waiting for our utensils or for someone to come approach me after I've been flagging them down with my hands, I had to get up and go to the front desk and asked if someone could help us cause everyone is ignoring us. When I said that to the young lady at the front desk, she had someone come out immediately to finally give us utensils and our chili that was removed from our table. Not even 10 minutes after we started eating. A different asian woman waiter, who was not our waiter from earlier approached us and asked us "if you guys need to order more food do it it now cause we are about to close and needs to be ordered to go." I find it ironic that she only came to us to let us know that they were closing soon, but the other patrons who obviously were of Asian orientation were left alone. They brought us our check while we were still eating. It was obvious that they were rushing us out after the dreadful, abysmal, subpar service we received. Never have I been treated differently from the rest of the patrons in a restaurant, and I find it sad because I've been going to Banana Bay in Rowland Heights since 2010 and have NEVER received this kind of service. This will be my last time I support this restaurant and anyone who is Latino or any other different race for that matter, be warned.
