I'm so glad we were able to find a good Thai food in the area that serve some unique dishes . The place is small and gets busy and I could see why. I've been here twice and always didn't disappoint. The dishes come out in a smaller portion but they are very tasty. The servers are very nice and accommodating. Tried the jumbo prawn that we specially ordered and it was just delicious. Went to Monrovia to check out Kin Khao after passing by it many times as I drive down Huntington. There are not too many places that serve khao soi in the SGV so i knew I needed to visit sooner or later. They offer a free tea during lunch with your purchase and you have the option of thai tea or hibiscus iced tea. I ordered the khao soi with chicken and the drunken noodles with beef. The khao soi was rich and creamy from the curry. The noodles could have been more firm but it was still good. The chicken was juicy and meaty. The drunken noodles with beef had lots of basil and garlic inside. It was full of flavor and the noodles were slightly chewy. We ended the meal with a mango with sticky rice. The mangos were sweet and the sticky rice was warm and soft. Perfect way to end a yummy lunch. It was about $20 a person dining here which was not too bad. read more

Been wanting to try this Thai restaurant for a while and finally made it here for lunch. We ordered pad see ew and boat noodle soup. Pad see ew is my husband's favorite dish and it's how he judges a Thai restaurant. It came out quickly and we like there's a sprinkle of pepper salt on the dish. However, there is a sour, tangy flavor in the pad see ew that we don't enjoy. The boat noodle soup tasted very heavy in soy sauce but lack depth in flavor. So it's mostly just saltiness. There is also a sprinkle of pepper salt on the noodle soup as well. Overall we found the dishes a bit underwhelming. The service was friendly. Very nice Thai eatery, they have a limited number menus with photos so you may have to wait for another table to finish salivating over the pictures before you get your chance. Otherwise the experienced Thai eatery will know what the dishes look like. Our group of four ordered the Thai Omelet featuring both chicken and egg in one dish-think about that!! We recently dined here and the service was super friendly and interior was clean. The menu is simple but has a nice variety of Thai dishes, some classics and some I had never seen before. We got the Mamas Tom Yum Noodle which had meatballs, shrimp, mushrooms and egg yolk. The noodles were springy and the ingredients were fresh. I wish the broth had a little more flavor besides the lime and was a smidge thicker but overall it was still a good dish and the presentation was nice. We also got the Massaman Beef curry which was a great thickness with the peanut butter and had a nice portion of beef that was tender. My BF saw some TikToks about this place so we decided to get it for dinner tonight. We ordered: - Thai Herbal Sausage - Chicken Manow - Ground Beef Pan Fried Noodle - Green Chicken Curry - Cha Yen (Thai Tea) Our favorites were the Thai Herbal Sausage and Chicken Green Curry. The sausage had great flavor and eggplant gave the green curry an added bonus texture. The Chicken Manow had good flavor as well. Had to check this place out as soon as I saw Khao Soi on the menu. It was reminiscent of my trip to Chiang Mai, where I became completely obsessed with this dish and ordered it multiple times. Kin Khao is a hidden gem located in Monrovia and the sweetest thing is that it is family-owned. We have literally met the entire family and they are all so friendly. Unlike other Thai places we've visited, this restaurant focuses on homestyle cooking allowing us to try unique dishes we don't typically find on other menus. We love the Pork Shank Over Rice, Fried Chicken Over Turmeric Rice, and the Thai Boat Noodles. All of which are very flavorful. For dessert, don't forget the Mango Sticky Rice. The rice is sweetened and very fragrant compared to other places. Definitely a winner. Service is great and you get your food pretty quickly. Whenever we dine in, it's also very efficient. I wish I got to take photos! My husband, sister-in-law, and I have nothing bad to say about Kin Khao. We had several dishes, including: Chicken Manow, Pad Thai, Thai Fried Rice, Khao Ga-Pow Gai, and the Crying Tiger Steak. It's hard to pick a favorite because I truly loved all the dishes. Food tastes great! Their Chicken manow is the most unique with the citrus of the lime balanced by their sauce and the crunchiness of the fried broccoli. We had their boat noodle soup last time with a great flavorful broth and this time had their Pad Thai -- pretty standard but definitely tastes great and hits the spot! Portions are small but I guess you're paying extra for the quality, which I still don't agree with some of the dishes I ordered. Their chicken in their stew and skewers was so tough, and their sauce was nothing special. I am always thinking, "Why am I paying extra for ordinary food?" I had the chance to try Kin Khao. This Thai restaurant is different than others I've been to. Dishes that could be found here are ones you probably won't find at a regular Thai restaurant. The absolute standout dish for me was the chicken manow. It's unlike any Thai dish I had before. Really neat local spot that has unique or authentic dishes on the menu that I haven't seen in your typical Thai spots. You should definitely try the chicken manow, which seems to be a dish they came up with. It's super unique and I really enjoyed the lime pairing that goes with each bite. The menu said the soup was large, so naturally you would expect that big pot that you usually get at Thai restaurants, but it was more like a personal sized bowl. In short, not bad, but not great. We got the beef jerky appetizer. The beef was well cooked, but there was cabbages thrown on top that was hard to grab and share. I play also just had bits of beef rather than pieces that were easy to pick up. For out entrees, we shared the Beef Massaman. The sauce is pretty good and it came with a giant piece of beef. The beef was tenders and the peanut sauce was well flavored. This dish came with a side of rice. We also got the Mama Tom Yum soup. We were between this soup and the appetizer version and was told that this one came with more vegetables and meat. This dish seemed pretty random. Usually at Tellem Yum super spicy but this one didn't have much of a kick or strong flavor. What threw me off was the Ramen noodles in this dish. It also felt like they threw every vegetable in actual bowl that they had in their kitchen in this soup. I thought that the flavors didn't really compliment themselves. Lastly, we got some tie iced teas. For six dollars a piece, I thought that they were a little overpriced for what they were. The service is also only okay. We have been to Kin Khao twice now and have really enjoyed it. The menu is somewhat limited but what we have had so far has been quite good and the service has been excellent. On our first visit , we had their Pad Thai and Pad See Ew as well as their Chicken Massaman as an appetizer. The appetizer is their version of Chicken Satay. The skewers are freshly grilled and consist of nice, tender chunks of chicken and served with a small dish of cucumber salad and a delicious peanut sauce. This is the most tender, juicy satay I've ever eaten! The Pad See Ew was nicely prepared though a bit on the sweet side. My only complaint is that the thin strips of chicken are a bit in the dry, chewy side rather than the tender, juicy chicken you get with the satay. The Pad Thai is fairly classic and hit all of the right notes. On our second visit, we didn't hesitate to order the Chicken Massaman again!! We also had the Khao Ga-Pao Gai, a delicious dish of ground chicken stir fried with Thai basil and served with a fried egg. Both were quite good and warrant another visit so that we can dive into their curries and stews. The reason I am withholding one star is because of the chicken in the Pad See Ew and the fact that they don't offer Tom Gai soup (my fave), only Tom Yum. read more

I am noticing that more thai places are putting out more traditional dishes that are different from what Americans typically know as thai food and I love it. Of course we did try a few regular known dishes like Pad See Ew Tofu, and Drunken Noodle with Shrimp, but their Shrimp Tom Yum Goong Nam Kong was so delicious. Stumbled across this new Thai restaurant tucked inside a plaza right off 210 freeway on Huntington Dr ~ All the menu items are created by the owner herself, bringing some of the her unique Thai creations into the Monrovia community! The restaurant itself is not the biggest with about 6 tables, 2 bar tables, and 2 section tables for larger groups. The waiter and waitress are all very nice and attentive, checking up on you probably a good 3-4 times before I walked out the restaurant. It seems like this maybe a family-own business and many of the staff are actually family members? Felt quite homey~ The first menu item that attracted my attention is the appetizer Chicken Manow. And I have to say, the food brings surprises on each bite! I expect Thai food to contain some sweet and sour element but this dish is almost fine dining level kind of appetizer in my opinion ~ definitely eat it in a one spoon concept: a piece of the minced chicken, layered with their tomato slice, then top with some broccoli and finally the sliced lime. Trust me! Take it all in a spoonful instead of separately the freshness of the lime and tomato coupled with the unique crisp texture of the fried Chinese broccoli mixed with the minced chicken; very refreshing and unlike any Thai dish I ever had. Makes you want to take a 2nd bite! The chicken skewers is another appetizer that was ordered for the night and the chunkiness & nuttiness flavor of the dipping sauce makes me want to grab some bread and eat it all the meat is already seasoned/marinated so it's already flavorful but dipping it in the sauce takes it to another level~ the pickled cucumber's acidity balances the dish to refresh the palette so you can take on another skewer and another Overall the dish portion is decent and not too small. Price points are also not too bad for the food you're provided. Unpictured are a second visit of their Boat noodle soup ~ first view & smell reminds me somewhat of the Singapore food Bak Kit Teh. Don't be scared of the dark color soup, the soup is subtle and not overpowering & is something that you want to drink to the last drop the noodle is super fine thin rice noodle that can soak up the soup flavor easily. Definite enjoyed that dish as well! Very happy Monrovia has this new hole in the wall Thai restaurant and will definitely be visiting to try more of their menu items~! read more

Finally got to check out this Thai spot for dinner. Plenty of parking in the lot. The restaurant itself is very clean and spacious. The waitress that was helping us was very friendly and upbeat. Since it was just hubby and I, we got the mama tom yum and the pork sausage to share. The mama tom yum had a generous amount of shrimp and chicken meatballs. I like the flavoring of the tom yum soup combined with the mama noodles. The sausage was so delicious. I personally like to wrap the sausage in a wider lettuce wrap so I wish the cabbage was larger pieces and I wish they had raw garlic slices but overall the flavor was good. This is a long overdue update! Just wanted to say we've visited several times already and tried more items, and it has been fantastic! I've come to find that a lot of dishes have been like comfort food for me...some even reminded me of my grandma's dishes from when I was a child! Getting to know the family has been great too - they are totally local and are familiar with the neighborhood, and they seem to have developed regular clientele as well! Super friendly and helpful, mom was making sure everyone was cool with extra fans, as it was a super hot day. Since my previous review, they've also changed how you ordered, now a sit-down setting instead of ordering at the counter first. That's helped other customers who didn't quite get the ordering at the counter procedure. They've also added newer items, and included some familiar dishes like pad Thai & pad see-ew, but with their own style! Love how everything tastes home-cooked! After a visit from Santa Anita Mall, we searched on Yelp to try a new restaurant. Since we were nearby Monrovia we gave Kin Khao a try. The restaurant had a good flow of customers during our visit. The location itself is nice. There was plenty of people dining as well as getting to go orders. The menu is simple with an ample selection of apps, noodles, curry and rice dishes. We decided on the Chicken Massaman which were skewers and the Mama Tom Yum Soup. Both dishes were very good! The portions were great and enough for 2 people. The skewers came with 5 pieces which is good for the price. The Mama Tom Yum Soup is a dish I'd recommend ordering. If you like Tom Yum and the soup it's has great flavor and plenty of protein. I drive by Kin Khao probably twice a week, and have been wanting to try this place since it opened. The plaza and the area gets a lot of traffic since there's a raising canes and a chick-fil-a across the street from each other, but it was nonetheless still easy to find parking. We ended up coming here on a Friday for an early dinner with grandparents and baby. The dining area isn't massive, but it wasn't busy either. The staff was super friendly and helped us get situated with a high chair, and got us everything we need (we're a needy group lol). I like that the kitchen is semi open concept - you can kind of see and hear what's going on, but they don't have glass panes for you to see through. Our food came quickly. My favorite was probably the pad see ew for how well cooked it is - it has such good wok hei, which is important for cantonese people to determine whether if a dish was well-prepared. My usual benchmark for thai food, the pad thai, actually fell a little short of my expectations, but that's probably because I prefer my pad thai a bit more sour. All the dishes were great, and I'm glad the staff warned us of the spice level and allowed us to adjust and customize dishes as necessary to suit our needs. The portions were a bit smaller than your standard thai restaurant, but so is the price tag. I would much prefer a smaller dish and pay less, so I'm not always taking leftover home. Considering how close this restaurant is to my parents home, I'm glad I found a gem in Monrovia/Arcadia area. We will for sure be revisiting soon! read more

Everything was so flavorful, and Jane, the owner, was incredibly kind and checked in on us throughout the meal. I'm definitely coming back for the Chicken Manow. It's a family recipe passed down through generations. I couldn't believe the greens were Chinese broccoli! Such a unique dish. Beef massaman curry: i would say good but not great. the beef was really tender, good quality and tasted good but when i order massaman curry i'm usually looking for a thick curry with spice explosion, and this version didn't do it for me. Mango sticky rice: a solid one. the rice portion was perfect - the mangos tasted a tad underripe. altogether still very very good and a perfect ending to a great meal. This spot is a total gem. Have been feeling a craving for Thai food since going to Thailand recently. Saw this place while driving by. Noticed that they opened recently. Then again, I have been out of the country for several months. Walking in, I noticed how clean and organized the restaurant is. As I sat down, I was provided a glass of water. After just being finished with training session at Crunch, I needed the water. Wow, the water tastes clean and refreshing. All very good signs of a good restaurant. Through the years, I've learned that if a restaurant serves good water, their food usually is good. I ordered the green curry because I wanted curry. They said this was not as spicy as the salmon curry (I really wanted this), so I went with it because I am not a spicy person. First time having green curry. What can I say? It's EXCELLENT. Just enough spicy for the flavor. I guess green curry is on my palette from now on. I wanted to try their tea, but I try to avoid dairy. So she recommended their hibiscus tea (not a fan, been tainted from other shops). She assured me it's good. And definitely it was good. Not just good, but really good. I really enjoyed it because I don't remember hibiscus tea being this refreshing. The service is really wonderful. She came by to ask how I like the food. I've been here twice before writing this review. Its a recent addition to Arcadia's small collection of thai spots with this one having mostly rice dishes. Service is slow maybe because they recently opened or are just understaffed. I tried the khao ga pow gai and pork shank over rice. The khao ga pow gai is essentially a ground chicken with herbs and rice dishes. The herbs give a nice aroma to the ground chicken that surprisingly is cooked tender and not dry. The addition of a fried egg really gives a full chicken meal. The pork shank over rice was my favorite. The pork shank was super tender and flavorful. The sauce gave it a nice saltier and meaty taste. I ended up mixing the rice with the sauce for more flavor too. The side veggies were a nice crunchy texture in contrast to the softness of the meat. The fried tofu was a good middle too. Overall, great food and reasonable cost. I'm happy a spot like this opened up in Arcadia. I will be back to try more on the menu. read more
