I can honestly say everything I tried was new to me, which was refreshing in itself, even if the flavors didn't totally hit the mark. We tried: * Mee Gati - Reminded me of Singapore curry noodles but heavier on the coconut. It's a dry noodle dish, and I found myself adding a lot of their jalapeño vinegar to punch things up a bit. * Gai Manow - A fried minced chicken meatloaf-type dish. It wasn't bad, but it leaned on the bland side for me. * Crispy Chicken with Turmeric Rice - This was the standout. The chicken had a nice crunch, the rice (though a touch dry) paired well, and the pickled cucumbers added a refreshing contrast. The sauce it came with tied it together nicely. Overall, I didn't dislike anything, but nothing wowed me either. The flavors were a bit subtle for my taste--maybe intentionally so, as this spot seems to lean away from bold, classic Thai profiles. If you're feeling adventurous and want to try something beyond pad Thai or pad see ew, it's worth a visit. The restaurant is set up with 3 large screens with menu options at the entrance, you order at the counter, and they bring the food to our table. We ordered a variety of dishes: - Guay Thiao Ruer (boat noodles): this was the first dish to come out. My kids totally crushed it. The flavorful soup with the thin rice noodles, braised beef, beef ball, and finely chopped baby Chinese broccoli were delicious. - Tom Yum Goong Nan Khon (Tom yum soup w/ shrimp): was also a hit! Super flavorful with fresh shrimp, tomatoes, and brown beech mushrooms. This is a newly opened restaurant in this Monrovia shopping center. It's a good option for some quick Thai food. Service is really good, and the staff are really helpful with suggestions. I had the #13, the Guay Thiao Nuer Sub, which is basically pan fried rice ice noodle with minced beef in a light curried tomato sauce. It was a little tart for my taste, but it wasn't bad. The server also recommended their vegetable egg rolls, but nothing special about them. They were very similar to the ones you would get at Panda Express. We started with the chicken wings appetizer -- easily the driest, smallest wings ever. They came buried in a bowl of fried basil that no one was going to eat and a side of sweet chili sauce. Definitely disappointing. For our entrees, my boyfriend got the Pad Thai, which he said was okay but had an overpowering lime and dried shrimp flavor. I ordered the Mama Tom Yum soup, which turned out to be just an elevated bowl of instant MAMA noodles. The broth was way too tart -- even after I tried adding water, it was still not salvageable. The biggest letdown was the mango sticky rice. The whole dish was sitting in a pool of overly sweet syrup, and the mangoes weren't even fresh -- browning in the middle and mushy, like they were about to go bad. First time trying this Thai restaurant. I am so glad I did!! Everything was delicious! We ordered: Tom Yum mama noodle soup~I asked for mild. It's kind of pricey but it does taste pretty good. It has four shrimps and meatballs. The only thing I would change is to have less lime in the soup because it was a bit too sour with a little bit bitterness from the lime. Ground pork rice~I asked for mild as well. This dish was very delicious and I like how it's not extremely oily. I would want to eat more of this next time for sure! I finally got a chance to try this new Thai restaurant in Monrovia. What's unique about this place is that it offers more unique dishes that are not typically seen at the Thai restaurants. Literally a taste of home cooking from a mom and pop shop. I tried several of their small plates: 1) Thai herbal sausage- enjoy it with the cabbage and ginger after a squeeze of lime! 2) beef jerky - dip in spicy sauce 3) shrimp toast- garnish with some pickled cabbage and cucumber For my main course I tried the crispy egg noodle with gravy and chicken. I came in last week and ordered the Sai Groog essan I think that's the name of it. It was the number 2 on the menu. It had sausage, cabbage, ginger etc.... It was pretty good. This has to be my new favorite Thai restaurant in town. All the dishes are so flavorful and unique. The appetizers that stood out were the Chicken Manow (I've never had this before, and it was fantastic!!) and the Grilled Shrimp Salad (perfect blend of spicy and sour). We drove by and saw this place and wanted to give it a try. We are normally pretty picky with Thai food and even though there are abundance of Thai restaurants in SGV, we don't normally eat Thai due to lack of quality. We have a favorite Thai restaurant but it's all the way in Vegas. We ordered about $200 worth of food to be shared with 4 people and 1 small child. We ordered items that were their specialty and I have never seen before. Let me tell you, the food was amazing. It might just be our second favorite Thai restaurant with the first favorite being in Vegas. You can tell how all the ingredients were meticulously sourced cut and sliced. Each ingredients down to garnishes and pairings were carefully chosen for a reason. For example the mushrooms in Tom Yum were not the typical cheap cremini mushrooms it was replaced with different and slightly more costly mushrooms. The shrimps used were large and juicy. The vegetables condiments were cut small/fine/thin with skill to complement a specific mouthfeel. Nothing was overcooked or undercooked, it was not under seasoned nor overly seasoned with salt and msg. It felt like I was invited to a thai auntys home to dine. I regret that I didn't have any pictures because we obviously ate them before we thought of any photos. That's how good they were. Wow! It's like I went to Thailand. I was around the area and needed to eat and it was close to 3pm which they close between 3pm-5pm but I wanted to try something sour and hot. I went in and asked if they're still serving since it was 20 min to 3pm. They still allow it. Went in and th first impression was it's really clean and feels comfortable. I like their modernized Thai concept and the staff are all friendly. That aside, let's get to the food: I went with the khao klook gapi (shrimp paste fried rice). I had made this dish a few times before when I was in my Thai cooking phase, and it was super delicious. While their version is tasty (I asked for extra shrimp paste since pics on Yelp looked more white rice colored), I feel it doesn't hit as hard as my homemade version. Everything was aesthetically plated and taste wise maybe not as pungent as I think Thai food can be. For my family: my sister had the rice with beef short ribs and they were cooked very tender and had a black pepper sauce. Pretty tasty in itself but I would have to eat 2 of these to be satisfied. My dad went with a vegetarian noodle dish which I didn't try. My brother ordered a fried chicken rice dish which had a good crunchy texture with tender meat. Decided to try something new tonight and I'm glad we did! We frequent the plaza often and have been meaning to check this place out. Tonight was the night. Got here at peak dinner time on a Saturday night. The restaurant was packed. Luckily, there was a table available and we got seated right away. You can tell this place is family run and owned. All the staff were super personable and this was the best service I've had in a while. Other than constantly checking in with us, the most memorable part was when the lady refilled our hot teas. She made sure to shield the cup with one hand while pouring, so that the hot water doesn't splash on us. We ordered the chicken manow, herbal sausage, mama tom yum soup, and stewed chicken over crispy noodles. Chicken manow was our favorite. Parking was plentiful since it's located in a spacious plaza with other stores. There were only two other families dining in. The restaurant was also super clean with modern decor. One of the owners let us know they had just opened in January. We ordered at the front and paid, and then sat down at a table. I saw that the families ordered a few dishes and shared family-style. Bf and I got our own dishes to eat. Here's what we got: 1) Khao Ga-Pow Kai-Sub Kai-Dow (my dish): 9.3/10. So homey, delicious, and clean! I've had and made Pad Kra Pow many times in the past but nothing compares to this one! I got it in the medium spice (three spice levels to choose from; mild, medium, and spicy), but I lowkey wish I got it in the spicy version since medium wasn't too spicy for me. The portion was filling for me due to the protein and rice, but I didn't feel weighed down after eating. The fried egg with a jammy yolk enhanced the savory, meaty, fragrant ground chicken. I love the addition of green beans as well, giving it a unique and homemade touch. The Thai chili soy sauce and red chili sauce that are provided at the table really elevated the flavor so much. Highly recommend adding these! 2) Khao Mu Daeng (bf's dish): 8.7/10. Bf mentioned that the (bean?) sauce that came with the dish was a perfect complement to all the meats. The sausage was his favorite meat, which he said was slightly sweet. The cucumbers were refreshing. For a hungry person, this portion is on the smaller side so I'd recommend supplementing with another dish or sharing a second dish with someone else. I've been looking for a new go-to Thai food place since the others I used to frequent aren't what I'm looking for anymore. The dishes they have here are also not the ones found at your typical takeout Thai food restaurant, but I think this allows us to explore more of what Thai cuisine has to offer! Six dishes including a papaya salad. We were taking it back home because a friend specifically craved a papaya salad. We leave to do an errand and when we return, they told us that they were out of papaya salad. They took the order, so there were no red flags so we assumed no problem. In the meantime, we noticed someone was dining on papaya salad. How can a Thai restaurant run out of papaya salad? That's like McDonald's running out of French fries. I dunno.
