Our family has been to Kiyo a handful of times, and it's become my favorite sushi place. Fish is sizable and fresh, prices are reasonable. We love that they do weekend lunch special, and we specifically come for that. The sushi lunch combo always includes generous, thick slices of fresh fish and a good variety. This last time, we even got a huge scallop nigiri in our combos! We also ordered a roll and an order of takoyaki to share this time around, and both hit the spot. Interior is classy, clean, and comfortable. Service can be a little slow depending on how busy it is (on a Saturday during lunch, our 3 sushi combos arrived like 15 minutes after my grandma's chicken udon), but that speaks to the made-to-order quality, so I'm not too bummed. Overall, as a sushi fanatic who doesn't like to break the bank each time we go out, this is my go-to and we'll be back every time we're in town. read more

Good service, easy to follow menu, and good quality fish! Ordered the premium chirashi bowl and some others. The fish was cut thick and ended up being super filling along with the rice. There wasn't any fishy smell to any of the fish and portions weren't lacking at all. The baked lobster roll and squid ended up taking awhile- we were almost finished with our other dishes by the time it came out. Kiyo used to be our go to spot for lunch. They still offer a lunch special menu. Now, we come as a special treat for dinner. The sushi is always fresh. They have pictures of their rolls and nigiris on their menu on an ipad. The ipad does not tell you the price, so be wary of that. My favorite thing from here is definitely their beef tongue. It's a must every time we come. The service is great, they're always attentive and come by to check on your during your meal. The seating at the bar is nice because you can watch the sushi chefs in action. They also have specials listed behind the sushi bar that isn't listed on their menu. Let me just cut to the chase - 2 of my friends got food poisoning after our lunch here! One of them had a deep fried roll and the other had the lobster roll. According to them, their stomachs felt queasy. The one who had the deep fried roll had it worse (I won't go into details). I was incredibly impressed by the food. I tried their Kagoshima Wagyu, which was hands down my favorite. The live lobster was both delicious and fun as the antennaes were still wiggling when it arrived at my table! The mentai pasta was incredibly creamy with one of the best textures I've ever had. Another star dish was the Uni Gyutofu topped with Santa Barbara uni. It was unbelievably soft, almost like ice cream. We also ordered the mixed tempura, which had a perfectly light, crisp crunch. I've passed this place for years, and I finally decided to give it a try and wow was I impressed! I took my mom and our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs. We ordered a good amount of cut rolls and specialty rolls, none that were disappointing. I especially loved the spicy yellowtail cut roll! I've always been treated very well by the staff here as well. Everyone here has been so friendly & no rush. The food speaks for itself in the pictures for presentation. Okay. Time for an updated review. I've been sushi deprived for 9 months since I'm pregnant, and I demanded a chirashi bowl to be delivered to me as soon as I give birth. My parents helped us pick up a lunch chirashi bowl and lemme tell you - it did not disappoint. We paid lunch price on a Sunday, and got the chirashi bowl for ~$22. What a steal! Most other chirashi bowls at other restaurants are about 25-30 at this point. KIYO also did not miss on quality. The fish were all fresh and we're good, solid pieces. What i liked most was that they also had raw salmon, whereas some places offer more minced items or skip salmon altogether. Kiyo sushi lived up to my expectation for my first meal after delivery. I visited Kiyo last night and was just BLOWN away by the options different dishes they served. I especially love that they are having a winter shabu shabu special (A5 Wagyu shabu for the cold nights), which I've never seen at a sushi spot. I got to get tons of seasonal dishes like lobster, oysters, fresh tuna from Japan (proven by a huge tuna head at the front haha), and their wagyu sushi. I think my favorite was the loaded chirashi don (FULL of delicious fresh fish) and tuna trio, followed by the shabu shabu. They also have super cute desserts (highly recommend the sake sorbet). I had the lunch special Chirashi and it totally blew me away. First, the bowl was huge, I was barely able to finish it! There was salmon, tuna, yellow tail, tamago, spicy tuna and spicy yellowtail (I think). There was more, but I can't remember. The fish was very fresh and the slices were thick.
