There were three kinds of raw fish for the sashimi and we all cannot tell what the white fish was because it doesn't taste like Hamachi or scallops and the texture was super weird & It's super fatty. I was having a quick lunch with my Mom in the President Square Food Court at President Square in Arcadia on a rainy Saturday afternoon. I noticed Sushi in the Box was behind me. Restaurant front was clean. Took a short glance across their menu. They offer various sushi rolls, sashimi, bento boxes, bowls, ramen/udon, hand rolls/onigiri, appetizers, and sides. Their prices were quite reasonable. They close between 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on all days except for Mondays (they are closed). Luckily, we were hanging out for the afternoon until dinner so it wasn't too bad. I had to wait until they reopen at 5:00 PM in order to buy the Ahi Tuna Bento for $10.99. It came with several cuts of thinly sliced ahi tuna, 4 California sushi rolls, a small salad, a small bowl of rice, sushi ginger, soy sauce + other sauces, and surprisingly, a Hi-Chew candy for dessert. Quite a bit of items for less than $11.00. Everything was good, but nothing stood out as exceptional. Next time I'll try their Chirashi Bowl or Sashimi and maybe even a sushi roll or two. They currently have a special where you buy any Sushi Roll, and get Sushi Roll #20, 21, or 22 for 50% off. I have to check the menu again on what these 3 sushi rolls are. Staff lady was nice. Service was quick. Service charge of $0.50 applies for credit card transaction. Bring cash if you don't want to pay the service charge. Since we were in the food court, inside seating is shared with the other restaurant vendors. Very clean and bright space. Free parking available at the square. The only gripe I have in this area is the poor Wi-Fi reception. It was really challenging to make a phone call and/or surf the internet. Hopefully, they will get better Wi-Fi coverage in the future. Got the dragon roll along with a mix of california and spicy tuna rolls. The amount of crab in the california and dragon roll was much appreciated, as was the helpings of spicy tuna in the spicy tuna roll. Stopped by Sushi in a Box for a quick lunch and was seriously impressed. I ordered the Premium Bento with beef sukiyaki, five pieces of sashimi, plus a side of nigiri with two salmon and two tuna. So it was a spare of the moment thing that brought me here. I had a sudden craving for some rolls but didn't feel like a sit-down restaurant, and I heard about this place so it worked out fine. Located at the right corner of the President Square Food Court, they offer rolls, bentos and ramen. They weren't very busy when I went about a 1/2 hour before closing, but had a steady flow of people. The service was fine, nothing outstanding but no complaints. The food took a bit longer than expected, roughly 15-20 for 4 rolls when there wasn't anyone in front of me. Maybe there were orders called in (?) I got a Dragon Roll, Rainbow Roll, spicy tuna and a Cali roll. All tastes fresh and the rice wasn't stale considering it's the end of the day. But the rolls lacked flavor. ie: The Dragon Roll and Rainbow Roll are usually served with some type of eel sauce, or anything to tide it more flavor. These were not. The spicy tuna wasn't spicy. Maybe my tolerance for heat is fairly high but even my kid didn't think it was spicy. The rolls I picked up were all fine. They all looked good, just not much to rave about when it comes to the flavor. I hate to give a small family business an average rating but this is purely based on my own palette for rolls. A better than I expected sushi fast food spot. I came here and ordered the bento box premium which includes california rolls, salad, rice, sashimi and sukiyaki. You can replace the california roll, sashimi and sukiyaki with other items in the menu. The california rolls were great, the sukiyaki was very tender and had good flavor+texture. The sashimi however was still a bit frozen which affected its taste (made it taste plain and solid). They close for a few hours before dinner and I hadn't realized this but the lady was there and took my order and made the rolls on the spot. They have a takeout menu so I later realized they have many other dishes and not just what was on the posters. I tried the rainbow roll and the combo california roll and spicy tuna later realizing orsering 2 rolls got me 50% off my combo. Nice! They are very generous in filling and less rice. It was great! We tried sushi in a box when it was on Cloverly and recently heard it moved even closer to President Square food court. So many good items to choose from. Our favorite are the tempura bentos we choose either Teriyaki chicken or the beef sukiyaki. The tempura is amazing, and the entrees are awesome as well. They also have buy one full price sushi get one half off from list. So we get dragon roll and spicy tuna roll. There's so much food for 2 of us, we had left overs, and the left overs were still amazing. lol. President square brings a lot of kids with Sunright tea, if you're also hungry definitely stop by and get some bentos. Wish they offered musubi's for quick eats. Food was okay, seemed freshly made but I definitely wouldn't go back based on service alone. The cashier lady taking orders was extremely hostile and didn't seem to understand what I wanted to order despite communicating in two different languages. Then she proceeds to give me unsolicited advice on what to order and when to consume it. After ordering, she did not give me a receipt or order number but simply demanded for me to go sit down. When I asked her for a number, she sneakily replied, didn't I already give it to you? When she hadn't. I also witnessed an interaction between her and another customer which the customer requested to switch her order for takeout, which the cashier lady rudely refused and proceeded to complain about her in Mandarin. I've been coming to this restaurant for years. They've recently moved from their original location in Temple City to Arcadia. They're now located towards the back of the food court next to 99 Ranch. The rolls are decently sized and the prices are great. They even have a buy one, get one 50% off promotion on some of their rolls. The rolls and hand rolls are probably my favorite things to order. Their onigiri is delicious as well. They always put a generous portion of fish so I definitely feel like I'm getting my money's worth. I've also recently tried their ramen and it's an amazing price for the large portion that you get. The workers are always very sweet. They provide extra utensils if you ask for it and the food is always packaged well when you get it to-go. I've never had an issue with anything spilling before. Eating at the restaurant is also much more convenient now that they've switched locations. Their previous location was pretty small so I always ordered stuff to-go. However, the food court has a lot of seating inside so it's much easier to dine-in now. Overall, the quality of the food is amazing for the price. On a Saturday afternoon in October, my sister and I came here to order early dinner. They moved from Temple city to Arcadia. I ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box and waited to be ready. The owner was nice and took our orders. I quickly found a table and waited for our food. The chicken teriyaki taste good and scoop of rice. The California rolls taste good too. This restaurant is in the food court next to Ranch 99 market. 3.5/4 - busy during lunch time so I do appreciate the staff trying to make food fast. If you don't come before the rush, expect a decent wait. 4 - I really like the cutlet and the sukiyaki tho on occasions the sukiyaki was sweeter than I like. The lunch special comes with rice, your protein, cali rolls, side salad, slice of orange, and small taste of seaweed salad. It's good for days where u just want a little mix of everything. 4 - the lunch special cost isn't expensive so I think it's a good bang for your buck. So happy I gave this small business a shot! I put in a phone order easily. Wait time was 40 minutes for my sashimi plate, chirashi bowl, two onigiri, and two rolls. $58 for everything! The sashimi was top freakin' notch. Fish was so fresh and they do not skimp on you which I appreciate! Seriously the thickest cut sashimi I've ever had. The rolls were generously packed as well! The onigiri was really tasty. I recommend the eel onigiri because there's avocado in there! They were also really generous with their wasabi which surprisingly has been an issue for other sushi places in the 626. They might not have too many options on their menu, but they definitely serve high quality sushi. Honestly, 5 stars across the board. Pick up and customer service was also great! The only thing I would be wary of is that their business hours at the shop are listed differently than what Yelp has. I always get the bento box lunch special. It's a great value and every item in the box is delicious. It comes with a good portion of protein (chicken teriyaki, pork cutlet, beef sukiyaki). All three options are good but I think the chicken teriyaki is best. I always end up with a little leftover so it reheats well. I haven't tried the fish so no feedback on that. The California rolls in the box is good. It's more imitation crab than just rice. It's nice that they include a little order of seaweed salad. Not usual for these types of boxes but a welcomed addition. They also throw in a wrapped piece of candy which I don't think adds much to the box but maybe some out there enjoy a post-meal dessert.
