Fried porkchop

This is actually smaller than I expected. We came for Sunday dinner and it was less than half full, we were a party of 8 and got a pretty small table with a lazy Susan. Plenty of parking in the back and front of the restaurant, there's gendered restrooms near the back which were pretty clean. Our group ordered a lot and so fitting everything on the lazy Susan was a challenge: -fried pork chops were delicious, so little bone and crispy outer coating. I didn't feel like it was greasy or dry, great spicy salt flavor. -fried crab was super delicious, meaty, salty, and crunchy outer fried coating. The price was pretty fair and the dish had two crabs after counting the legs but one head shell. The crab inners were pretty good, crispy but a bit fishy. -the pork belly dish was great, tender and fat melted in my mouth. The flavor is slightly on the sweeter side and the sauce was savory. -honey walnut shrimp was crispy, sweet and savory, and the walnuts were crispy. However after a while it did get soggy but still sweet. -the fried whole sole fish was unfortunately fishy, the one we got had eggs as well so unsure if that played a factor but my dad confirmed the fishy aftertaste despite this place has a tank full of fresh seafood! -black bean fish filet was okay, Fish was soft but I ended up with the fish pieces with ginger stuck to it, so the fish itself was overwhelming with I tense ginger flavor. Which I don't like. Everything else was pretty good, can't recall the rest but next time we think we will order different dishes since it's very close to my family's residence and apparently my grandma ate here all the time decades ago. It did take a while to get the staffs' attention for drinks and our plates were full of shells, but they eventually got to us.

The food was good. My favorite was the walnut shrimp and the fried pork chops. The dessert afterwards was really good too. However the service was lacking. We had to ask for drinks 4 times. We asked for a plate change and they only did it for two people out of 7. I asked again and was forgotten.

Seafood Palace, Bi Feng Tang in Chinese, is an established restaurant chain that originated in China and is known for specialty seafood dishes. It's a Cantonese seafood restaurant with Chiu Chow/Southeast Asian influences. Nice and clean traditional Chinese restaurant atmosphere with some dishes shown in big colorful photos surrounding the dining room on the walls. This is one of our family's gathering spots in SGV. Food was authentic and traditional. Servers were efficient and attentive to our needs. This place has many unique dishes that's hard to be found elsewhere. Dishes were flavorful and well prepared. A must order dish every time we're here is their signature house special crab with a lot of fried minced garlic. It's fresh and sweet with just the right amount of flavor. The choices for dining in SGV seem endless and we have always enjoyed Seafood Palace where you can get a great taste of Cantonese/Chiu Chow cuisine.

If I have to describe this Chiu Chow family style seafood restaurant in one word, then that word would be uninspiring. The original flagship restaurant is located in Monterey Park and this Temple City location is a sister restaurant. Renowned LA Times food critic Jonathan Gold wrote an article about Seafood Palace in Monterey Park and gave his approval on the house-special crab in 2015 (https://www.latimes.com/food/jonathan-gold/la-fo-gold-seafood-palace-20151128-story.html). [Parking]: Easy and free parking behind the restaurant. [Ordering]: The restaurant was only less than 25% packed on Saturday at 5:30 PM. Our party was able to grab a table immediately and the food came out 5 - 10 minutes after placing an order. [Menu]: Per Jonathan Gold's article, recommendations include house-special fried crab (#42), sauteed scallops with asparagus (#69), Chinese lettuce Chiu Chow style (#45), fried snow fish with garlic sauce (#27), house-special steamed chicken (#28), salted-fish-and-chicken fried rice (#122), and baked squid (#68). The restaurant offers lunch special on Monday to Sunday from 11 AM to 4:30 PM (Monday to Friday lunch special order also comes with one free soup and one free white rice per person & dine-in only). All lunch specials are not available on all holidays. $2 per person on rice. *** #10 Minced Chicken w/ Sweet Corn Soup ($15.99): A pretty boring soup and I wouldn't recommend it. #28 House Special Chicken ($15.99 for half chicken): Slightly better than average and the dipping ginger sauce was not bad, but it didn't taste super amazing. #42 House Special Crab (seasonal price - $69.99): The signature dish really fell flat and I didn't really see the appeal at all. #56 Honey Walnut Creamy Shrimp ($22.99): The dish was recommended via Yelp highlights and it was certainly the best dish of the night. Excellent flavors and one can easily get hook on these creamy shrimps. #?? Salt and Pepper Pork Chop ($16.99): Pork chop pieces were fried nicely, but it lacked salt and pepper so I couldn't really taste any extra kicks. *** Maybe our party should've done a little bit more research ahead of time and go for few other items that are outside of our comfort zone. However most dishes our party ordered tasted just alright.

House Special Crab. Fried with a ton of garlic, bring a few people to help you. That's really all I want to say, House Special Crab - just do it. Other dishes I enjoyed were Pea Shoots and Bean Curb with Mushrooms. But don't sleep on the crab!

We ordered from the second lunch special. Our table was very presentable and our server took our order quickly and efficiently. The decor of the restaurant was very stylish. It was Chinese with soft Chinese music. We ordered: Salt and Pepper Baked Shrimp, Mapo Tofu, Fish Filet with vegetable, Free Lotus Soup, Tea, and one bowl each Rice.

My family loves eating here because of 2 dishes: house garlic fried crab and the house fried rice! Everything else is delicious too! Go here! You won't regret it!

I have been coming to this restaurant for years, and although the prices have risen, the quality has stayed the same. It is usually very busy inside but the servers do a great job at seating you quickly. If you come with a larger group of people, then the wait times can get pretty long around dinner time. However, you could always order the food to-go, which is what I typically do. The inside of the restaurant is very welcoming and spacious. It is structured like a typical Chinese restaurant, with a lot of indoor seating and larger tables available for bigger parties. It has also been recently remodeled, and looks much better than it did a few years ago. The house special garlic crab is my favorite dish to get. I typically order around 2 pounds of it with my family, and it's just the right amount for three people. It's extremely flavorful and is fried to perfection. It tastes great on its own, but can also be eaten with rice to make it more filling. The crab is also very easy to peel and sometimes I don't even need to use tools when eating it. Another one of my go-to dishes would be the pan-fried string beans. They're a bit salty by themselves, but are great with rice. It also comes in a large enough serving to share with the whole family. Overall, I really enjoy the food and service here. I will most likely continue coming here, despite the prices going up. This is a great traditional Chinese restaurant to try, especially if you enjoy seafood like I do.

Horrible Food + Terrible Service. I'm surprised that they haven't go bankrupt. A fried Rice with literally nothing cost me 19 dollars and taste so greasy. Avoid this restaurant!

Chiu Chow style seafood restaurant. This is an old favorite of my family. We like to get the Chiu Chow Seafood Porridge. And also your assorted standard staples of these chinese seafood restaurants. They do a solid job on those. Most recent time I went was Oct 2023, and they seem to have remodeled, and the prices have gone up quite a bit. Price on the live seafood was pretty steep. That knocked it down a star for me. They do have lunch specials, so maybe try it out during lunch.

My family used to come here a lot when it was the old Seafood Palace. Have't been back since they changed the new ownership until yesterday. We decided to celebrate Mid Autumn Festival here. It's always the same vibes, big family gatherings or just have a casual sunday night dinner. You will see a lot kids at every table, so do expect a lot of loud noise and screaminng everywhere. They also have private rooms available but mininum spend is $800+. We have 8 people in our party and we ordered quite a few items on the menu. We ordered seafood, meat, vegetables and always gotta have soup on the side. Here are some of the signature dishes we ordered. House Special Fried Crabs (避風塘蟹)- Whole Crispy Deep Fried Crabs with lot of seasoning and fried garlic. It is one of their signature dish, you can also tell by the name of the restaurant (in cantonese). One of my favorite and the reason I choose to come eat here. The crabs deep fried so well and full of flavors. with salt and pepper, the deep fried garlic added more aroma to it. Winter Melon Pot (冬瓜湯)- This soup is very uniques and comes in a actual wintermelon! You must pre order this 1 day ahead because it has take long hours to make. it comes with black chicken (乌鸡), logan, goji, dried scallop and other healthy chinese herbs, of course the wintermelon. The flavor of the soup tastes very sweet and savory because of the wintermelon and they do not add additional oil to the soup. It comes in a actual wintermelon, you can scrape the winter melon off which scooping out the soup. very delicious and healthy. The other dishes we ordered, where i thought that needs a little improvement. honey walnut shrimps- Texture is okay, but they out way too much mayo where you can barely tastes the flavor of the shrimp and the crispiness. the walnuts are also stale. house speical steam chicken with ginger sauce- Wish there are more flavors of the chicken, it tasted like it was just boiled in water. The ginger sauce combined made it taste slightly better. but the chicken itself should have it's original house special flavor. Baked salt and pepper Squid- Well deep fried but not enough salt and pepper. I did not taste the salt and pepper at all and there were badely any jalapenos. Overall, service is good just like any other typical chinese restaurant. I would still come back and give the restaurant another try.

A traditional Chinese seafood restaurant at its best! If you're looking for a delicious seafood restaurant with reasonable prices, this is the place to go! They have two nice private dining rooms with contemporary artwork that you can reserve. Perfect for graduation dinners and other celebrations. I recommend the shrimp and scallops.

We were…read moreable to call ahead earlier in the morning and ask if we could be on the wait list or reserve a table. They told us they could reserve a table for us at 6pm. We originally were hoping for 7 or 7:30, but based on how busy and popular this place is I can see why they said no. Come early and get seated right away and there's still ample parking in their parking lot. By the time we left at 7:30p, the lot was packed and people circling around hoping to snag a spot from folks leaving. The restaurant is pretty large and has about 3 rooms with different size tables and booths. No matter the size of your party, there's a table that will accommodate. The staff were very nice and attentive and FAST! We had our food out probably 15 min after we put in our order! Now...on to the food. We ordered one of the set menus for our party of 7 and it was spot on! As you can see in the pictures we had all the "classics". Our set meal could easily be enjoyed by at least 10 people. We had so many leftovers! The food was all well prepared and sufficiently seasoned. Portions of each dish was plentiful and everyone will be able to get enough to satisfy. My favorite items: lobster (duh!), kung pao chicken, pork chops, and shaking beef. The seafood soup is a great starter, and don't forget to add a little vinegar and pepper! Great restaurant in the SGV. This location is much bigger than their Rowland Heights restaurant, but the food is exactly the same. This is a great alternative to the popular Newport Seafood, so don't sleep on this place!

Came at 530 pm on a tuesday, and there wasen't anyone here yet. Afterwards it filled up quickly!! The main thing I dont like about this place is they dont have the prices on what your ordering. Which I'll get too at the end. Like any other Chinese restaurant, their menu is super extensive. I love how they have a little bit of everything. And its very well organized too. We ordered the following: 1. Crab and fish maw soup- this soup was amazing. It was just the right temp. Got me sweating. Can easily feed 12 people. Great amount of maw. The consistency is just right. Tasted so good!! 2. Small lobster special- on a bed of noodles. It was about 5 lbs. Cooked well. Could do without. Basically flavors. And it was expensive!! About $30 a lb. So this one dish cost basically the same amount as all the other dishes. Which was just too much. If I knew it was that much I would definitely not have ordered it. 3. Walnut shrimp- not the best walnut shrimp I've had. But it was ok. 4. Garlic shrimp- this shrimp dish was ok. Too many bell peppers and onions. It was just ok. 5. Mongolian beef- flavors were not that great. Very tender though. Could've been better. 6. Sea trout- this was amazing!! I love the sauce. Fish was so soft and tender. The heat, the spice, the sweetness. Some of that sauce in white rice was just perfection. It was really really good. Best dish of what we ordered. 7. Kung pao chicken- this was a really good dish. Crispy bits of chicken. But so soft and tender inside. I love the sauce that it was in. It was by far one of the highlights of the meal. It was good food. Price for everything (except the lobster) was pretty good. Food tasted amazing for the most part. Typical Chinese customer service. Pay at the front. Massively large portions. Solid authentic Chinese food.

Their dinner dishes are all $12.99 which is super rare! They usually have long wait times (can be up to 30mins) but today was not that crowded so it only took around 20 minutes. They are not super big inside but they do have two private rooms where we got seated with another party, which wasn't bad since we each just eat our own meals. They give free tea, which tasted like pretty good quality tea, and I drank quite a few cups. They also give free edamame and miso soup as appetizers, which was nice. The miso soup has some seaweed and soft tofu which I enjoyed. We ordered the Stir Fried Dry Bean Curd w/ Pork, Braised Pork in Brown Sauce, Stir Fried Cauliflower (not spicy), Fried Squid in Three Flavor Sauce, and the Shanghai Style Sweet Sour Pork. They are super busy but all the dishes were served fast, within 5 minutes of each other and only after maybe 10 minutes from when we ordered. The dishes all looked super good and not too oily. The portions are also reasonable for the price and is just enough for our group to share. My favorite was the Stir Fried Bean Curd w Pork and the Braised Pork. Both were flavorful but not too salty. And the braised pork was had the right amount of fat and the meat was cooked just right so it was tender and not too dry. The others were also seasoned well and we enjoyed it. The least favorite was the Shanghai Style Sweet Sour Pork because it was more sour than sweet and didn't have much meat on the bones, but I still thought it was pretty good. All the dishes were good and very worth the price. It is not something you can find easily at dinner time, especially with this quality. The white rice is also free of charge which is so rare! I recommend this place if you want cheap authentic Chinese food and great service with free appetizers. Just be prepared to come early or there will be long wait times. I will be coming back again.

Its basically just shrimp but they have vinegar sauce yoy can pour or dip. The portion is decent too. The crispy fish had no bones in it and the sauce was amazing with the fish. Fish wss really crispy. There were pieces of shrimp in that dish too. Ordered what my mom kept describing as bo luc lac//shaking beef but it was different. It didnt have enough pepper too it and it was sweeter. I looked at the menu and it said honey pepper. So makes sense why it was sweet. The garlic pieces were good. Some were still half raw so it was extra spicy. I thought the sweet and sour pork would be the same sauce as the fish but its different. Ot was more of a savory sweet sauce. I guess thats why its a shanghai version. Not sure if they sell the other one anymore that ive seen pictures of. I didnt try the snow peas but it mustve been good since it was all gone and we didnt have to take it home.

Won't allow to change some food on banquet menu, just had to add another dish. Food came out fast & with big plates, hardly any space on table, waiter just left it on top of 2 serving trays. They didn't care that serving plates were still full. The beef loc lac was tough, deep fried fish sauce tasted weird with their sweet sour sauce, pea sprouts which I was trying to change to another dish but couldn't, sure enough was so fibrous & chewy. The special fried rice was so full of all different kinds of meat that it was like a meal in itself. With 10 different dishes it would have been better to serve plain white rice. Felt service could been better for 18% service already added on bill. Tea was even charged. Had to ask for menu at cashier & was told already at table, asked for waiter so we can order, had to ask for water, spoons & forks or to have some serving plates taken away to have more space at table. I need to confess something to you: I love Chinese food. However, it wasn't until the last few…read moreyears where I've come to realize the distinctions between Hong Kong cuisine and mainland Chinese cuisine. It's been an exploration. But with each new Hong Kong style restaurant I try, the more expansive my view, and belly, get. Alice's Kitchen, specifically this one in Temple City, was a refreshing look at not just the food but the vibe as well. Design - Falling into a different world Walking into Alice's Kitchen from the back parking lot is like walking into a vibrant food court back in the 1980s. Bright neon signs are placed throughout the dining room floor, faux food stalls can be seen to give more of a community feel to the inside, and I love the sprawl of different props of newspapers, t-shirts hung on clotheslines, and big advertisements on the walls like you might see in a food court. It really elevated the atmosphere of the space and I loved their branded orange plates, bowls, spoons, and chopsticks. It gave whimsy to this place. Staff - Cool The staff here are like what you expect from any Chinese restaurant. You try to flag one down or grab their attention with your wandering eyes and when they come over you can tell them what you want. They take your order and usually within 5-7 minutes you'll start to see your food heading your way. Perfect for anyone hungry and dying to eat right away. When you ask for to-go boxes at the end of the meal (you definitely will) moments after you get your food packed someone will appear with a tablet ready for you to pay right there at the table. Talk about speed. Food - Onions galore I see that in Hong Kong cuisine there is this mix match of Western and Chinese tastes put together. This fusion of ideas is what brings something like their large pineapple bun sandwiches to existence. We got the BBQ pork (char siu) pineapple bun sandwich and this came warm with a fried egg, slab of butter, generous slices of BBQ pork, and a savory sauce. For one person, this could be a good main dish to be accompanied by a side. For this split between two people, this is a savory sweet dish perfect to wet the appetite. Highly recommend getting one of these. The sweet & sour pork was nostalgic to me. Served with chunks of white onion, green peppers, and pineapple the flavor of this reminded me very much of the sweet & sour pork Chinese-Korean restaurants serve, except for the color being different and no cabbage in the sauce. It has the sweetness brought out by the pineapple but still a bit of tang and deep savoriness of the pork with each bite. The onions were undercooked and you'll see this as a pattern for all their dishes containing onions. The French style filet mignon chunks were fantastic. Juicy and flavorful, each bite makes the mouth water more and more and the texture gave such pleasant mouth feels. The fried basil accompanying it also gave a burst of freshness and herbacious flavors. Just be careful not to accidentally bite into a chunk of ginger. Unless you love ginger. Then go right ahead. The beef chow fun with black bean sauce was great. Nice balance of their black bean sauce with the textures of the chunks of beef, the onions and peppers in this add a nice crunch and difference in flavor that balances all the savoriness. The tofu with spiced salt was also incredible. When I ate this still piping hot the crisp exterior with the hot soft interior made me smile. The spiced coating was flavorful and with some rice it gives a nice balance with each bite. Final Thoughts With all the food we got for dinner, I'm sure I leaned more into the Chinese cuisine side than the Hong Kong side. However, I was happy with the quality and depth of flavors in everything I had. Alice's Kitchen has definitely been one of the better Hong Kong restaurants I've had and I'm excited to explore more of this cuisine in the future. Can't wait to come back!
