My wife and I took my mom here on Mother's day to see what the hypes are about The parking was lil crowded due to mothers day and on a Sunday, luckily we had a reservations, because it was extremely busy and seemed lil chaotic After we're seated the service was fast and attentive, BUT the lady who too our order was lil misleading, and kind of over sold us on some dishes. After we were told a dish was not available she referred a "cheaper" alternative fish dish that was "$36" only, but when the bill came it turned out to be $36 per LB and that dish alone was lil over $100. Tho at the end they did remove a "$16" tea we never ordered nd never received and a "$9" dessert we never ordered either, the bill was still over $350 plus tip came out to be lil under $400 for a party of 3 Don't get me wrong, the food was delicious and the chef did cook and slayed, but for the price is lil too much for ordinary Chinese dishes Again maybe I didn't order the dishes that won the Michelin stars All other services was amazing nd attentive, everyone was extremely nice and polite the interior was classy and dinning areas are clean, with beautiful traditional Chinese decor Would I come back, maybe. But definitely will make sure to 2x confirm the prices instead of just listing to the suggested dishes b4 ordering them.

My friend highly recommended that I try Bistro Na's, raving about its excellent quality and authentic Chinese cuisine, so I was excited to give it a try. We made a reservation on OpenTable for dinner about a week in advance. We didn't know this until the day of our reservation, but Bistro Na's was actually the first and only Chinese restaurant in the greater Los Angeles area to hold a Michelin star, which they held in 2019 and 2021. The restaurant has since lost its star, but remains on the Michelin guide.  Our reservation was at 5pm on a Sunday. The inside is grand and ornate with architecture and decor inspired by imperial China. Oddly, it was a bit empty. I got the Lychee Galaxy Drink, which came in a large mason-jar style glass. It was lukewarm. The drink reminded me of something you'd get at a casual boba shop or the 626 night market. The first dish to arrive was the Black Cod Stew with Tofu, which was essentially a mapo tofu with fish nuggets on top. I found it a little bland and unexciting.  Next, we tried the Crispy Shrimp, which was one of their signature dishes. This one was actually really good. The shrimp were lightly glazed in a sweet sauce and had a satisfying lightly crispy exterior.  But on that note - I feel like a lot of the dishes we ordered turned out to be unexpectedly sweet. The Crispy Shrimp was sweet. The fried mushrooms were sweet. The Braised Abalone & Pork Belly with Chinese Puffy Pie dish was fun - I'll give them that. I liked making my little hamburger and the protein was very tender... but flavor-wise... It was just sweet. As standalone dishes, they probably would have been fine, but after a while, I got sick of everything being sweet. Or, to be more specific, I got sick of everything only being sweet. I think they needed more savoriness to balance out the sweetness and make the dishes more interesting.  It was like the sweet dishes were too sweet and the savory dishes were not savory enough. The mapo tofu was disappointing. The scallion pancakes were nothing special. The bonito fried rice needed salt. Overall, I felt very let down. Even without the Michelin distinction, I would have found the food lacking in quality. So considering that this restaurant is currently on the Michelin guide, I was very disappointed.

Bistro Na's is always on my list when I visit LA, it never disappoints me. Food was authentic with fresh ingredients, our waitstaff June was amazing and helpful. Reservation is a must especially during the weekend. Highly recommended

I tried Bistro Na's at Eeeeatscon and I opted for their combo, which came with a drink. The drink was too sweet and tasted very syrupy but the food made up for it. The crispy shrimp was really good. I wish they'd peeled the shell, but some people might like that extra crunch. The tofu skin salad was the absolute standout. I loved the simplicity of it. It's a great neutral dish that I want to eat again. They have a very extensive menu, and this experience only made me want to try their other stuff more. I'll definitely visit the actual restaurant in person next time.

Delicious and you need to definitely order this

I'm going to say something sensational and perhaps even controversial but I am not impressed. For a 1 Michelin star that's Ali Wong's "go-to spot," Bistro Na's made me realize what a peasant palate I have. Maybe I'm just not made for the finer things in life or maybe, just maybe, I'm a pragmatic person who isn't frivolous enough to waste my hard-earned money with the overpriced meal here. And before you go and call me cheap, which I don't mind b/c like an "a-hole," everyone has an opinion, I just can't justify the return on joy relative the $$$ I'm paying. I don't mind spending $$$ for a meal, but a $$$ meal not only needs to correlate to quality, flavor, taste and service, but in this day and age in which gas prices can climb up to $8 (with the war) and increasing inflation and commodity costs, it has to correlate to the value too. Ambience and decor is beautiful here. 5 stars. If you want to feel like an emperor or empress, you better get ready to feel like royalty because of the setting - classy and of a time once forgotten. Service - servers were attentive but service isn't just that. It includes the overall dining experience of service and care, like how promptly did you get your drinks and did they arrive before or after the food arrived. Our main entrees arrive in lightning speed but the two bowls of rice we ordered, and because I'm Chinese, I must have my rice with my entree. It didn't come and we had to ask someone about it. We also ordered the pea sprouts with mushrooms. We were 75% done with the entrees and the veggie dish still didn't come yet. The table with a family of 4, who came in after us, got their food and then their chayote leaves veggies dish and still...no pea sprouts in site to be coming towards our table. Disappointing... Let me get to the food now. Quality - 5 stars. Taste - 5 stars, so food gets 5 stars. Crispy Shrimp ($28 for regular and $48 for medium) this was all I wanted to try and I had high expectations. It definitely delivered. Crispy and easy to eat even with the shell on. Flavor is reminiscent of Honey Walnut Shrimp without that creamy mayo flavor and mouthfeel. Diced Black Pepper Honey Angus Beef ($46 regular and $69 medium) was super tender and cooked to medium rare / rare perfection. Sweet savory flavor with a hint of black pepper - perfection also. We got the regular portion (since it was for me and a +1) and while they serve it on a long oval plate to make it look like it's a bigger portion, the big plate only highlights the 7 pieces you get. Yes, 7 pieces of beef. Pea Sprouts with Mushrooms ($24 regular) - pea sprouts are one of my favorite veggies. The dish was flavorful but lack something - then, I realized what it was. Where's the garlic??? Typically, veggies in Chinese cuisine are cooked in the wok with garlic. Without it, this dish fell short. Two bowls of rice ($3 each) - rice just seems like a given and should accompany the dishes that are ordered. Fine, go ahead and charge it à la carte but as least make the price make sense. Maybe that's how they make you want to order the fried rice instead. When you're paying $6-$12 for small bowls of white steamed rice, you might as well pay for a $18 shrimp fried rice!?! Value - no brainer here but 1 star. I just can't justify the price tag. Food is good but was it mind-blowingly good to what you pay? No, not all. If you're rich and money flows in easily and you don't care about just throwing money where ever and whichever way, more power to you; and you should definitely eat here. But for someone who works really hard for her money and want a high quality meal at a reasonable price, also I ain't no baller man, I will never be coming back. It's one of those "one-and-done" places for me. Maybe one day when I win the lottery...wait, no, even if I won the lottery, I can't. It just isn't worth it. Sorry. 5 stars - ambiance 2 stars - overall dining experience 5 stars - food 1 star - value 3.25 total stars

Have come to the restaurant too separate occasions now, once with friends, and once with family. TLDR, The service is impeccable, and decor is amazing, but unfortunately, the food looks great but just doesn't taste good. The first time I went, my friend, and I got the fried rice, which had almost no fragrance and barely seem fried at all. Under seasoned, not good. We ordered the pea shoot leaves which were stirfry with mushrooms. The quality of the ingredients were definitely there, but unfortunately, there was zero flavor. I really appreciate my food to be light and to not have very much salt, but this had almost 0 salt, and absolutely no garlic was added to it which made the flavor disappointing. Our starter/appetizer was the gelatinous pig feet. The presentation was excellent, and it was great to look at, furthermore, would even say the ingredients tasted relatively high quality, but again there was no flavor. Their braised pork belly is good, not great. I think it's quite tender but not enough sauce. This was probably the best thing that we got there. Finally, we got the fish (whatever is in the photo). Again, looks great but literally no flavor despite being surrounded by aromatic vegetables. Quite bland, would have greatly preferred a traditional steamed fish over this, or honestly just some soy sauce

Higher end elevated Chinese food but honestly EVERYTHINGGGG was absolutely delicious!! the decor is stunning and feels like you're in a palace, which makes it feel like you are coming for the overall experience. Wish I could try the Peking duck next time but everything we tried so far is delicious! Pretty pricy but worth to try. Recommend coming here with at least 4 people to try more dishes. Food: eggplant, shrimp, pork wraps. Tofu skin salad, drunken chicken, pork belly. note if it's your birthday they give out long life noodles, first timer!

Service was 4/5! Ambiance 5/5 Food 5/5 Honestly ? Been wanting to try this spot for a long time and finally came here today! Food was high quality and presentation is 5/5. Dishes flavor were all balanced, nothing was over powering and salty. They know how to just create flavor, and the flavors were just right. We tried many dishes! Even the fried rice was 5/5. Price is up there but high end quality food! Service was amazing first half of meal and the service disappeared second half. Had to call someone to box our food and order dessert. Overall 4.5/5! Yum

Came here with my family to celebrate a special occasion. My father-in-law made a reservation, and in the reservation notes, he requested to reserve a Peking duck, which he knew he had to ask for a week in advance. Unfortunately, we were told that you have to call to reserve it, and that the Opentable reservation notes are not read. That was a bit of a disappointment. We ended up ordering the Combo D, which came with around 6 appetizers/entrees, and we supplemented it with the crispy shrimp, prime angus rib, and smoked duck. We thought the entrees ranged from just ok to very good. The ones that were highlights were the smoked duck, crispy shrimp, imperial beef, and kurobata braised pork. We found the prime angus rib to lack flavor and was a bit dry. The chicken with abalone sauce dish just tasted like soy sauce chicken. The other dishes (bok choy, sea bass) didn't really stand out and were just average. Overall, I think we had very high expectations given the reputation, and it didn't quite reach the hype we had. The food overall was still good, but given the price, the service left a lot to be desired. When ordering, the waitress told us some of the dishes we wanted were unavailable, and when she checked with the kitchen staff, it was then available to order. After ordering, we were then told that a different dish we ordered was not available! It just seemed Iike staff were very unclear regarding what was available. We ordered dessert with our entrees, and after finishing our meal, we were brought the check, without the dessert being served until we reminded the staff. I do have to say, the servers who were refilling our drinks were very on top of it. Still, I would expect a high end restaurant to be a bit more organized.

I love Bistro Na's. It's upscale, and it makes you feel that way--not just through decor, but through service and flavor. What I respect most is that they don't try to be like everyone else. They take risks. They do things differently. The flavors are distinctive because the kitchen isn't afraid to create. That kind of creativity--from team to customer--deserves respect. The service is very good. You can feel the structure behind it. Organized, attentive, and consistent. It doesn't feel accidental. I always start with the pear drink to warm up the belly. Simple, comforting, and thoughtful. And the jumbo shrimp is a must. It's one of those dishes you remember. If you're looking for refined Chinese dining that tries to push itself a little further, give it a try. It won't disappoint.

Bistro Na's has been on my wish list for awhile, but it took DineLA Restaurant Week's new menu to finally bring me in. Na's has an unassuming exterior and location in an unassuming, mostly Asian-vendors outdoor mall in Temple City. Street level parking can be a challenge; they have an underground garage also. Inside, however, Na's has a luxe and regal air, with much carved woodwork evoking an Imperial Chinese courtyard. The walls are adorned with Chinese musical instruments, which are heard in the background music. Na's has garnered a Michelin star in past years, and is repeatedly on the LA Times Top LA Restaurants list. Reservations for Na's can be made through Open Table. Sans reservations, you can join a Waitlist on Yelp either through Yelp or on the iPad in the restaurant. I'd recommend a reservation; the place fills up fast. The DineLA menu was an excellent introduction to Bistro Na's cuisine, with all the selections off the regular menu, and most being popular choices as well. Alas, Na's famous Peking Duck is missing; even on the regular menu it requires one week's advance notice. The DineLA menu includes 4 courses--appetizer, main, rice/noodle and dessert--plus a beverage. It's meant for 2 for $65, but a big eater like myself could probably have finished it solo. Here's what I ordered: 1) Na's Secret Tofu. Rectangles (8) of tofu topped with spinach, dipped in an egg batter and fried. Served with a slightly sweet scallion sauce. Loved it, but I've read good things about another app choice, the chili tofu skin salad, as well. 2) Crispy Shrimp. One of Na's most famous dishes, it did not disappoint. Shrimp are beheaded and de-legged, butterflied and lightly fried, glazed with a sweet hawthorn (a fruit that looks like a crabapple) and dried chili pepper sauce. The sauce was sweet and not spicy, much to my liking. Much of the taste is in the shells, so I ate both the shrimp and shells. I discarded some of the shells after a few chews, but in the future will just swallow them all. So delish! 3) Beijing Zhajiang Noodles. Handmade noodles beautifully plated unmixed, with a myriad of fresh veggies alongside, with a cup of Zhajiang sauce (pork belly, possibly fermented beans?) and a pipette of a dark acidic liquid (Worcestershire-like). It's mixed together tableside. The sauce was strong (not spicy) and overpowered the veggies, but good. 4) Sweet Fried Rice Cake. Six little rectangles fried sticky rice, served with sweet condensed milk for dipping. Yummy, loved the crisp bite then the chew. The other dessert choice, Lucky Koi Milk Pudding, is also popular. 5) Crystal Pear Drink. I didn't know what to expect of this drink, which you can get hot or iced. I chose iced. It looked and tasted like a slighty fruity iced tea. I did not taste pear, but it was refreshing nevertheless. The other options were black or green tea (hot or iced), or a mimosa. Overall a fab meal. Service was okay. I only saw my order-taker once. The food was brought over and cleared by others, and a man in a suit (manager? non-Asian), took care of my check. Will definitely return!

I really really wanted to love this place but I think it's kind of fell short of my expectations. First, service and vibes were amazing. Very friendly and attentive staff and the place is beautifully decorated. Truly a great experience. Now, the food. For appetizers, we got the poke (which came on a bed of chocolate chips - interesting and not for me) and the scallop on zucchini (felt like it was missing something). For mains, we got the sea cucumber with beef tendon (tasty but not insanely amazing), pork belly (a MUST and arguably the best dish here), crispy shrimp (also a must, I think it's what they're known for), fried rice (a little bland for me but decent) and the pea sprouts? with mushroom (also a little bland for me but not bad). The only reason why I couldn't give it five stars was because at this price point and how everyone talks about this place, I was expecting to be blown away. TIP: get a reservation on opentable. When we got there at 5:10pm on a Sunday, it said that the estimated wait time was 75-90 minutes on their tablet.

Had lunch at Bistro Na's during DineLA and had high expectations but was very lackluster with terrible service. They were understandably very busy with DineLa but the experience was so chaotic. The hostess almost gave our table away to another party even though we were ahead on the waitlist and we had to let them know they had the wrong party. The ambiance overall felt very fancy at first but quickly got really loud because they were fully booked. We got the DineLa set with secret tofu, crispy shrimp, shrimp fried rice, and sweet fried rice cakes along with black tea. The server accidentally gave us mimosas when we ordered black tea so we let him know it was wrong. Apparently they were getting our table mixed up with another table which led us always getting the wrong food. Mind you it took so long for us to get our drinks that we had to remind the server we didn't even get our tea yet. The table next to ours ordered at the same time as us and by the time they finally brought our tea, they were already on the main dish. While we were waiting for our drinks, the server gave us another wrong dish which was the koi fish pudding. Again we let her know it's not ours which I thought was hilarious since the only thing we had were our plates, chopsticks, and tablecloth. After a while of waiting, we finally got our food. We did however have to ask the servers again about our appetizer because all of our main dishes arrived except the appetizer. I think we talked to most of the staff at this point for our food. We did get it in the end but very late. Na's secret tofu (2/5): Extremely bland and didn't have much flavor. Tasted like regular deep fried tofu and I drenched the tofu with the sauce for more flavor but even then, it was very subtle. Crispy shrimp (5/5): My favorite dish! It tasted similar to honey walnut shrimp but without the walnut and mayo. The shrimp was extremely crispy and super flavorful. I normally don't eat the peel but it was so good since it was deep fried and very crispy. Shrimp fried rice with bonito flakes (3/5): It tasted like standard fried rice and nothing really special. I did like that the portion was big and there were full shrimp pieces in the fried rice. Sweet fried rice cakes (4/5): I really enjoyed this dessert! Crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The condense milk really paired well with the rice cake to make it sweeter. Overall, the experience and service were disappointing. I also wasn't a fan how the server would be staring at you when you're tipping because you're pressured to tip well for subpar service.

Best $100.00 lunch I've had in a while. Worth every bite! Oysters fresh. Lightly sweet, paired well with cocktail and chimichurri sauce. Both cocktails were light on the palate with enough of a hit, not too sugary. Paired well with Oysters. The House Pan Roast. Without question I'd recommend to anyone who's visiting here the first time. I was originally going to settle for some market price lobster pasta but decided since everyone posted the House Pan Roast Steam the most might as well. Great choice regardless. Bartender Manager very professional. You feel taken care of. Ambiance without question excellent dine in atmosphere, very modern decor. Fish and chips were great; fries were herbed and well seasoned; calamari was crazy good. Clam chowder was remarkably delicious - I'm from New England so I'm picky about my chowder, especially if it's not "authentic" - but this chowder with the Cajun twist was really something else - a definite must try. Bread pudding (the original with the berry compote) is a must have, so be sure to leave room Also, our server Jenny is a superhero - she was the only one there and held it down all by herself during a busy Friday lunch service; she was genuinely friendly, highly attentive and gave great suggestions on what to order 10 stars.

I discovered Crab Grabber in Pasadena, which serves both Chinese and boiling crab-style cuisine. Crab Grabber is a plus in Pasadena because it has its own parking area in the back. The restaurant is quite large, with plenty of space and tables. We bought two sets of Combo A with Green Mussels, Headless Shrimp with Green Onion, Ginger, and Garlic Flavor, which includes Fried Onion Rings, Steamed Chicken Juicy Dumpling, and Crunchy Breaded Shrimp. We also ordered the Roasted Fish with Garlic Flavor. The alternative Combo A that includes Friend Chicken Wings, Steamed Chicken Juicy Dumpling, and Garlic Bread, Scallion Pancake Beef Rolls. As I was taking pictures, I noticed the owner with photos with multiple Hollywood people. I spoke with the owner while we waited for our food to arrive. The owner is very kind and caring, and I can see how she takes care of her employees. Not to mention, the restaurant provides free appetizers with a variety of options such as seaweed, pickled vegetables, duck neck, duck wings, kimchi, pig ears, chicken feet, gizzards, and dessert. I love the Old Fashion Aiyu Dessert, which brings back many memories of when I was a kid in Taiwan and used to ride my little bike to buy it with my sister. Bring the family and friends to Crab Grabber to experience the incredible seafood, Chinese cuisine, and scrumptious wonderful appetizers; this will undoubtedly be your location! The crabs felt like they'd been frozen for a long time. The food did not taste fresh. I've been to quite a few carb/seafood restaurants and this one did not measure up. What really confused me was the broccoli. Why would you add broccoli to a boiled crab dish? That changes the flavor palette completely and not in a positive way. Then there was the hard boiled egg? Why? The service was great and the space was clean. The food on the other hand? Not good.

We were…read moreable to call ahead earlier in the morning and ask if we could be on the wait list or reserve a table. They told us they could reserve a table for us at 6pm. We originally were hoping for 7 or 7:30, but based on how busy and popular this place is I can see why they said no. Come early and get seated right away and there's still ample parking in their parking lot. By the time we left at 7:30p, the lot was packed and people circling around hoping to snag a spot from folks leaving. The restaurant is pretty large and has about 3 rooms with different size tables and booths. No matter the size of your party, there's a table that will accommodate. The staff were very nice and attentive and FAST! We had our food out probably 15 min after we put in our order! Now...on to the food. We ordered one of the set menus for our party of 7 and it was spot on! As you can see in the pictures we had all the "classics". Our set meal could easily be enjoyed by at least 10 people. We had so many leftovers! The food was all well prepared and sufficiently seasoned. Portions of each dish was plentiful and everyone will be able to get enough to satisfy. My favorite items: lobster (duh!), kung pao chicken, pork chops, and shaking beef. The seafood soup is a great starter, and don't forget to add a little vinegar and pepper! Great restaurant in the SGV. This location is much bigger than their Rowland Heights restaurant, but the food is exactly the same. This is a great alternative to the popular Newport Seafood, so don't sleep on this place!

Came at 530 pm on a tuesday, and there wasen't anyone here yet. Afterwards it filled up quickly!! The main thing I dont like about this place is they dont have the prices on what your ordering. Which I'll get too at the end. Like any other Chinese restaurant, their menu is super extensive. I love how they have a little bit of everything. And its very well organized too. We ordered the following: 1. Crab and fish maw soup- this soup was amazing. It was just the right temp. Got me sweating. Can easily feed 12 people. Great amount of maw. The consistency is just right. Tasted so good!! 2. Small lobster special- on a bed of noodles. It was about 5 lbs. Cooked well. Could do without. Basically flavors. And it was expensive!! About $30 a lb. So this one dish cost basically the same amount as all the other dishes. Which was just too much. If I knew it was that much I would definitely not have ordered it. 3. Walnut shrimp- not the best walnut shrimp I've had. But it was ok. 4. Garlic shrimp- this shrimp dish was ok. Too many bell peppers and onions. It was just ok. 5. Mongolian beef- flavors were not that great. Very tender though. Could've been better. 6. Sea trout- this was amazing!! I love the sauce. Fish was so soft and tender. The heat, the spice, the sweetness. Some of that sauce in white rice was just perfection. It was really really good. Best dish of what we ordered. 7. Kung pao chicken- this was a really good dish. Crispy bits of chicken. But so soft and tender inside. I love the sauce that it was in. It was by far one of the highlights of the meal. It was good food. Price for everything (except the lobster) was pretty good. Food tasted amazing for the most part. Typical Chinese customer service. Pay at the front. Massively large portions. Solid authentic Chinese food.

The side of salad helped me feel better about eating healthy too and was a nice textural break from the crab roll. Overall, the crab roll tastes relatively similar to what I had at Lobster and Beer. Won't allow to change some food on banquet menu, just had to add another dish. Food came out fast & with big plates, hardly any space on table, waiter just left it on top of 2 serving trays. They didn't care that serving plates were still full. The beef loc lac was tough, deep fried fish sauce tasted weird with their sweet sour sauce, pea sprouts which I was trying to change to another dish but couldn't, sure enough was so fibrous & chewy. The special fried rice was so full of all different kinds of meat that it was like a meal in itself. With 10 different dishes it would have been better to serve plain white rice. Felt service could been better for 18% service already added on bill. Tea was even charged. Had to ask for menu at cashier & was told already at table, asked for waiter so we can order, had to ask for water, spoons & forks or to have some serving plates taken away to have more space at table. There were few waiters & feel that they were not attentive and restaurant was not even busy. Even parking lot was not full but there was courtesy valet parking & girl was insisting on parking the cars even though several cars was starting to line up. I would never recommend or return to this place again. Just disappointed that my guests did not enjoy the food as well.
