My most recent visit: Pure disappointment. Potstickers looked like they were undercooked. In fact, I've operated potsticker steam griddles before, and Yi Mei's potstickers were a disaster. Flour didn't hold up, there was a lack of filling, there were no crispiness to the texture, and the filling again seemed undercooked Alot with the soggy skin. An utter failure. Dan Bing Egg Tortilla Omlette--- overwhelming. Feels like the wrong type of cheese to use, overdose of cheddar, overly salty, omlette was too thick. In all honesty, you are better off ordering a breakfast burrito at Arts Burger in El Monte...or just stick to 4 Seas Taiwanese Breakfast...took two bites and that was it, I can't do it. I wished I had just made breakfast at home, I've lost hope for spending on restaurants because of this. And the Taiwanese sausages....just go to Tawa or 168 and buy a pack for 10 dollars and go home, use a fry pan and low to medium the sausages on all sides until you get even char and the internal temperature reaches 450 degrees, you'll know because juices will be oozing out from the charred cracks and if you use some rice wine, it will bring out the flavor even more, and just finish it off with some ghost pepper powder. Bon appetit. But what was served here today is again, a joke to Taiwanese Sausages. Only two items that were passable were the beef pickle sesame torta sandwich (牛肉燒餅)and Daikon Radddish Cakes (蘿蔔糕) .....can't believe I was craving this place only to realize my expectations were about 1000x the reality ....

With the fan tuan going viral, I did decided to stop by to give it a try as well (not pictured), as well as ordering a pork chop rice. It's interesting how it's going viral, but I'm glad that it is. Fan tuan has spent one of my all-time favourite foods growing up, mostly because it is very carby, but also the Chinese donut and pork floss. It is a heavy item but definitely worth a try if you're hungry. The Chinese donut in the middle is crunchy and these pork floss gives it a perfect salty and savory combination. The pork chop rice is standard, but but that's a good thing. Crispy pork chop, marinated egg, vegetables on a bit of rice. What more could you ask for. If you're looking for a relatively quick meal, and has a hankering for Taiwanese food, you found a place. Make sure to order a soy milk to wash it all down. Interior is clean and services fast and friendly. Surface level parking is a bit limited, but they have underground parking shared with other stores nearby.

Was craving Taiwanese food and found this place for a quick breakfast. Ordering food is a different process compared to other places. You find a seat/ table and you scan the menu and order from there and pay on the app. It's pretty much self service which is a good thing. Along with getting the condiments and water which are posted at the center service station with all the sauces. Ordered the chicken bowl and added sausage 4/5, get this is you're hungry. Popcorn chicken 4/5, good spice and kick to it. Sticky rice roll with Chinese donut 4/5, gonna have to try the black rice version next time. Sitting at some tables can be communal as you're sitting next to someone else.

Food was good. Soy was not extra ordinary but clean and tastes like soy. Beef soup was not comparable to Lao Xi or Din Tai. Portion was good. Price point was moderately ok. Taste was really good for those rice rolls. Staff taking order were nice but they are pretty staffed so I don't understand the lag. Person who delivered our food was sweet but she couldn't answer questions.

Parking lot structure available Came on a Sunday for lunch and had to wait about 30 mins for a table. It's pretty much self service. You scan the QR code to order your food from the menu. There's a counter for self serve water and sauces, utensils etc. We tried a few different things on the menu but I think their best item is just the popular fan tuan! I love how crispy the donut is and you can add extra toppings like with an egg, sausage etc.

One of our favorite places for Taiwanese breakfast, Yi Mei should be on people's must try list. I love coming here for their fantuan which are reasonably priced and so hearty! When you head to the location you may see a long line. Don't be deterred! A majority of the patrons are there for take out. For sit down, you will order and pay first and seat yourself. Everything is priced reasonably and large portions that you'd definitely get your bang for your buck. For this visit we ordered (of course) the salty fantuan which includes egg, pork floss, Chinese donut and we added in a Chinese sausage which is more on the salty side than sweet. We also got a sausage and meat plate, an egg pancake and of course their savory soy bean milk. Everything came out quickly and tasted amazing. Definitely try out this location if you're looking for delicious food and at a great price!

Quaint Taiwanese breakfast spot located in the heart of SGV. I did find this spot through social media because of the viral salty rice roll (fan tuan), but they have a variety of other breakfast options offered ad well. I tried the fan tuan with a chinese donut and fried egg added as extra (already comes with sausage and pork floss), plus a bowl of hot soy milk - unsweetened and a chinese donut to pair with. I personally would give the food a 3.7/5, as the fan tuan is good but there is a bit of flavor lacking. However, if you add either the garlic sauce or chili oil that is offered at the self serve station, it would kick up the rating to 4.2/5. The service is quick and the staff are constantly on the go, but are quick to come to your service at a moment's call.

The extra crispy youtiao makes it special. Don't forget to ask for sauce. Variety of Taiwanese breakfast looks good. Came by on a weekend afternoon and there was a lot of people waiting. The signs said that ordering online might be faster, but afterward we felt like dining in would be ok. We ordered pickup through the QR code at the restaurant and were given a 20 minute wait time without about 6 parties hanging out outside. We walked a few blocks away and saw one of our favorite fantuan places with no wait nearby! We ordered a savory purple rice fantuan with extra crispy donut and an added egg. The extra crispy was something--my partner liked it and I could have done with a regular youtiao. The flavor of the whole thing was good but nothing amazing and balance of ingredients was a bit off. The purple rice fell apart easily. We got an egg omelette which my partner really liked, and a cold soymilk which was slightly sweet and refreshing. We regret forgetting the sauce. Our friends hyped it up to us after. There's an extensive menu beyond fantuan, which includes porridge, rice plates, and soups. Seems like a good place to come to for comfort food.

Like many others here, I had to stop by to try the purple rice roll. The portion is pretty hefty so I would recommend sharing if you're looking to try other dishes. The roll can be ordered sweet or savory, and I would recommend adding protein. The beef roll is flavorful but slightly watery, so it was a bit messy to eat. My absolute fave order has to be the freshly made soy milk! Prices are extremely affordable. I can't wait to come back to try other dishes.

I really wanted to like this place. Where to start? Maybe the positive parts. Ordered via QR code to go. Email said ready in 25 mins. That's was insanely accurate. Parking was not bad. Although I think someone hit my car...if you're reading this...You suck. The food was fresh. But the portion small..this is the day before where they posted they were closed due to lack of ingredients. The customer service is ok leaning more towards improvement. I understand it's not your fault social media blew you guys up. But at the same time in the era that we live in it should be expected. I was told by the front that if you order online just give your name for the order. Now the cons. The left out one of my orders. Pig ears. I called 3 times. No answer. On the fourth call a man picked up and said he couldn't believe they left it out. He wanted me to come back but I was already home...he promised a refund and he was good on his word. I factored this in with my rating. I ordered: 2 beef noodle soups - $14.75 each 1 Mince pork rice $12 FanTuan - $8.25 (extra pickle radish/purple rice) 2 large sweet soy milk - $4.25 each 1 salty soy milk small - $4.75 1 Chinese donut - $3.75 Missing pig ears / $7 Total with tax was $80.15 The food was mid. I'm sorry. It was most likely the influx from social media. The portion are small compared to other taiwanese spots. I feel so bad straying away from my usual spot (which I won't mention). I took a picture comparison of my fan Tuan you can judge yourself... The sweet soy milk was good. Overall I won't be back.

    Katherine T.

We came on a Sunday morning. There was a long wait for dine-in so we opted for take out (which also had a long wait). I got the purple rice fantuan with a sausage inside. Super good!!! The wait was long but overall worth it.

Was so excited to try this spot! You sit down, order, and pay via your table's QR code, which makes things super easy. I got the cold soy milk, which was so delicious and refreshing, as well as the pork chop rice plate. The rice plate was yummy and comforting - I loved the minced pork on the rice as well and the marinated cucumbers and veggies were a great addition. I shared the spicy wonton but it ended up being overly salty and spicy which really overshadowed the wonton flavor itself. They were also unfortunately out of the popular beef roll when we arrived (around 2pm). Service is about average but the prices are quite reasonable, and as a lover of Taiwanese food, I know I'll definitely find my way back! Parking in the plaza or underground.

OMG this place was incredible. I wanted to eat absolutely EVERYTHING on the menu and take everything home from the front display. There is plenty of seating, and the flavors, textures, portions, prices are all top notch. I can't believe how delicious everything was--I haven't had food like this since i was in Taiwan! Absolutely stunning and I wish I lived closer to be able to enjoy more frequently! The service is quick and efficient, the food comes out promptly, and we had a wonderful relaxing brunch! I have had a large quantity of beef rolls in my life and this one was extremely tender and delicious, definitely a step up in juiciness from sometimes the dryer version you might get elsewhere. Sensational!

The popcorn chicken is a must - the portion was huge and the mild flavor was top notch. The beef noodle soup was also solid. It came with a generous amount of noodles and big chunks of flavorful beef. Lastly, the regular soup dumplings pass exceptionally well with the ginger, vinegar, soy sauce condiment. Service was quick, friendly, and attentive. Atmosphere inside was hip and vibey. Overall, this is a great restaurant and I'd highly recommend others to try their dishes.

This was my first visit to Mr. Dragon Noodle House…read more I stopped by for dinner on a Saturday night, and one thing became obvious almost immediately... This place is busy. The dining room was absolutely packed. Every table was full, people were waiting near the entrance for seats, and the energy inside was loud and lively. If you're looking for a bustling restaurant with lots of activity, you'll enjoy it. Personally... I'm more of a quiet-corner kind of diner. Unfortunately, I didn't find my usual quiet corner this time, but I managed to find a corner, and that was good enough. The restaurant has a modern Asian-inspired interior with black brick accents, warm wood furniture, hanging pendant lights, and a striking red geometric ceiling. It feels contemporary and spacious, although with a full dining room, it quickly becomes energetic and noisy. As soon as I walked in, a waiter handed me a menu along with an order slip to fill out while I waited for a table. It was efficient, but it also made the service feel less personal than I usually prefer. Once seated, everything moved very quickly. Considering how busy they were, I understand why, but I couldn't shake the feeling that I was being rushed through my meal. Now onto the food. Hot Tea ($2.00) Simple, warm, and exactly what I wanted on a busy evening. Xiao Long Bao (8) ($13.00) The dumplings arrived steaming hot filled with juicy pork and flavorful broth. They were the highlight of my meal. Spicy Beef Ramen ($16.00) Large chunks of beef sat in a rich, vibrant red broth alongside ramen noodles, vegetables, and a hard-boiled egg. The beef, however, was not as tender as it looked. Unfortunately, the broth was simply too spicy for my liking. The spice overwhelmed many of the other flavors, making it difficult for me to fully enjoy the dish. Subtotal: $31.00 Tax: $3.02 Total: $41.02, including tax and a $7.00 tip. Overall, the food was decent. The soup dumplings were the one dish that I enjoyed.

That being said, I've always wanted to go back to Taiwan and apprentice under an old school chef and learn this school of stir-fry, you know, carry on the torch. Of course, it was the first thing that arrived, so we each voraciously ate a wedge on its own. Fish Filet with Bean Sauce: If you have enough self control, wait until they bring out the fish. SinBala - Arcadia…read more SinBala is one of the rare Taiwanese restaurants that has stood the test of time. I grew up eating here. There used to be several locations across Southern California, and I'm glad the Arcadia location is still here. Every visit brings back memories. I come for the Taiwanese classics that are becoming harder to find. The popcorn chicken is still one of my favorites--crispy, fragrant, and seasoned the way Taiwanese street vendors do it. The Taiwanese meatball soup is comforting, and the Taiwanese sausage always reminds me of night markets back home. What I appreciate most is that SinBala doesn't just serve street food. It brings those familiar flavors into a warm, home-style setting. It's nostalgic without trying too hard. Before you leave, save room for dessert. Their shaved ice is a must. I always recommend the brown sugar shaved ice topped with five mochi or boba. It's refreshing, not overly sweet, and the perfect ending to a meal. Taiwanese food is often overshadowed by other regional Chinese cuisines, but places like SinBala remind me how unique it really is. Simple, comforting, and full of character. I'm grateful this little piece of Taiwan is still here.

A bit sweeter than my preference but maybe cuz I put condensed milk on it as one of the toppings. The grass jelly shaped firm and nice cubes so possible it's from a can as opposed to in house. Sausage I had as well not the best I've had but traditional flavor and served with lots of garlic on the side (wahoo!)

I came to 101 Noodle Express in Alhambra for a late dinner on a Thursday night. It's located in the…read moresame building as Alhambra Valley Bowl. From the outside, you can't tell the inside has really good space with booths plus tables and chairs, but it does. They weren't super busy at the time... about 5 tables occupied. I was greeted right away by the one server who was working the entire floor. Interior was clean and well lit. Atmosphere was comfortable. Menu has a variety of options... boiled dumplings, pan-fried dumplings, steamed mini buns, stir-fried noodles, regular noodles, rolls & pancakes, side dishes, rice, soup, and beverages. They also have frozen food to-go (just two items... dumplings and dezhou chicken). I got one Steamed Mini Buns (aka Xiao Long Bao), one Stir-Fried Noodles with pork, one Lamb Noodles Soup (with hand torn noodles), and one Jasmine Green Tea with honey. Yes, this seems like a lot of food for one person. I'm not a stranger to bringing food home for another meal. *Steamed Mini Buns - juicy with flavorful pork filling, adequate skin thickness, good size buns *Stir-Fried Noodles with pork - best dish out of the 3, good balance between pork, veggies, and noodles, mild spice level was perfect, portions were reasonable for the price *Lamb Noodles Soup - great amount of lamb and noodles, lamb was tender, noodles were a tad mushy on the edge... they need to be firmer, soup was savory *Jasmine Green Tea with honey - good size cup, tea was a bit bitter, probably needs more honey Food came out steaming hot and timely. Staff and service were wonderful. Yan, the server, was patient and helpful. He did an amazing job working the entire floor by himself. Thank you Yan! Highly recommend this place for their pan-dried and soup noodles. I would come back for more pan-fried noodles and try their pan-fried dumplings. Btw, cash, Zelle, or Venmo payment ONLY for bill total under $50. Bring cash if you don't plan to eat lots.

I have been coming here for years. I like the beef roll here. It doesn't disappoint…read more The beef and tendon noodle soup is sometimes a hit and miss. This time it was very good. I have had ones in previous visits that the beef was chewy, not tender. You have a choice of regular noodles or hand torn noodles. Hand torn noodles are more filling since the noodles are much thicker than the regular noodles. They are both good. It is a matter of preference. The minced pork with noodles (aka Jia Jiang mien) is also good. For this visit, I did not order dumplings. But their dumplings are usually good. The service is adequate but don't expect good service.
