I think this place is under rated! The food is phenomenal! From excellent freshness to their display of plating, I will say, outstanding. There is usually a wait, you'll need to put your name on the guest list upon arrival, however, be sure you guys look at the menu, because you'll be ordering as soon as you enter. Food comes out pretty fast so fasten your seat belt and get ready for a ride of flavor town! Cinnamon French toast - crunch like it sounds, delicious and really resembles the cereal as well as a churro texture Cowboy burger - what can I say, a burger from the west, big juicy patty, bacon and egg topped with their delicious sauce, perfectly paired. Boiled pork omelette - you'll need a big appetite for this one. Don't be fooled by its size, it's more food than one can probably eat alone. Big flavor, pork was seasoned well and bbq sauce was a nice touch in the eggs. Potatoes were also on point! House French toast - almost as good as the cinnamon French toast, it has the crunch, flavor and doesn't require any syrup, already sweet as it is! Chicken sandwich - juicy, tangy, not spicy for me (got a level 2 of 4, I think) but if you like flavor, it has it all. Alexis, the order taker brought our dishes separately & Hubby cannot wait so he dug right in before mine arrived. I know it's not intentional, but I noticed that bigger table (6 patrons) had arrived after we did and they received their food very shortly and all at the same time. Not digging that. In any case, my food finally came & the anticipation was tingly. It's the best part, the toasts were crispy crunchy on the outside & moist on the inside-- so good! Well balanced sweetness, I had control over how much ube condensed milk was poured- that's a plus. Been my first time in a while at this location and I'm pleased to say it's just as good as I remember. - Fried Chicken Kimchi Eggs Benedict: Sometimes restaurants just pile on random ingredients and hoping they meld together. Love Popping Yolk because they have a whole section on their menu of these dishes. The crepe itself had a nice crisp that didn't get soggy despite the plethora of ingredients. Richness on top of richness but I was feeling gluttonous so this hit the spot. Food here always hits and the service is great. The staff greeted me walking in and were super quick with the food. Let me start off by saying what a cute café this place is with a lot of seating indoors and outdoors. We arrived around 9:45am and it was already packed. When you arrive you place your orders with the front host and they give you a number and get seated. Diff but seems to work. Our meals were brought out within 10mins which was very fast considering how busy they were. They have a huge menu section. My waffles, scrambled eggs w sausage were fantastic and flavorful. Waffles were light and crisp even with all the toppings it tasted amazing. My friend's was delicious and savory. Our drinks were great just with enough alcohol. Staff were supper helpful and friendly. Parking on Main Street can get pretty full but since we got there so early we parked in the garage. To start off, the burger was just alright; the patty was a bit dry and had that tough chew to it as it came out well done. Usually, when I get burgers, I get them on the medium/medium rare side. The salad was good and refreshing, but I would say it was more on the vinegary side. So if you don't like it too vinegary, you might want to ask them to hold the dressing. The crab cake on the Benedict was so light and aromatic. I really enjoyed it. The apple cinnamon French toast was perfect for fall season. The warmth and oaky flavor from the cinnamon worked really well with the apple puree. I love the crunchy honey comb crepe too. The honey comb candies are tricky to make, similar to dalgona candies. And this was smoky yet perfectly sweet. Added very lovely texture to the crepe. Lastly was the pulled pork omelette, it was still good but the other entree stood out. Overall, all dishes came with huge portion and all are delicious. It's just a popular spot so there could be wait times and outside seating may be a bit untidy. When my friend asked me where we should go to brunch in Alhambra, Popping Yolk came up in my feed. And not going today, I'm wondering why this is my first time trying this awesome place. We ordered different benedicts most costing at $18.50 each (except the Norwegian benedict which as $19.95) which came with potatoes & a huge helping of greens. Like I said, the food is really good, above average, buttt I feel like I can get the same plate for less than $18.50-$19.95 a pop. The potatoes were really crispy & well seasoned while the benedicts were delicious. The star of the show, I'd say was the Ube French Toast [$14]. Came w/4 thick slices that were mouthwatering. We order the kimchi omelette and pulled pork Benedict, both were wonderful! Love their large portion size! For under $20, I think this place offers great values! I like that they do that so you don't have to worry about splitting the bill when you're with a group of people. The inside was kinda big and also had outdoor seating at the back of the restaurant. I didn't like how only part of the outdoor seating area was covered with umbrellas. It got really hot really fast sitting outside. I think I got a ham, avocado benedict plate that came with a side of tiny potatoes and small salad. Their portions are really big even for the menu items where you can just get half the amount. When we asked for it to be replaced with the latte, they mentioned that the beans they use specifically for the cappuccino has an undertone of berries to them which might be the reason. Went for breakfast on a weekend and I was so worried there would be a long line, but luckily there were only a few parties in front of us! This is one of those restaurants where you line up to order and pay at the counter, find an open seat, and they bring the food out to you. We ordered the following: * Classic breakfast - cannot go wrong with this. Portion is pretty big and can be shared. Came with a small side salad, toast, potatoes, bacon, sausage, and your choice of eggs. * Avocado benedict - a little too saucy, which made the whole dish a little too salty for my liking. Also comes with a small salad and potatoes. The waiters checked up on us a few times and were friendly. Overall a pretty solid brunch place. read more
