Simply the best, chicken is tender without bone. Waffle is crispy outside and soft inside. They have the breakfast option with eggs too. Service and ambiance are perfect! Definitely a great place for a group event and happy hours.

Came on Easter Sunday around 4pm with my wife. We sat at the bar and service was great. Turns out they have all day happy hour on Sundays where Margaritas are $7, Mojitas $8, and Modelo on draft is $5 each. For 6 drinks (2 mojitos, 1 margarita, 1 michelada, 1 modelo, and 1 tequila sour) our bill came out to just $58 before tip. The bartender "Angel" was great always made sure we were good and remembered our preferences. Music was bumping, good music playing and speakers were actually decent. We asked Angel to put on the Laker game and he gladly did. Would def come back for their happy hour in the future!

I've been to Chicken Koop's Whittier location a few times ever since they first opened up and I loved every bit of it. I haven't been to this location in a few months but went twice within the first month of dating my gf. This location having a full bar is a huge plus! I've had several items here including their Cuban Style Plate, Grumpy Chicken Sandwich, Esquite, and Fried Cauliflower. Along with that, I've had several different beers and margarita pitchers. Everything has been spectacular! One thing that stands out is their service. Both times, I had great service. Not only did our servers deliver, but also servers that were assigned to different tables would interact with us on a friendly level. I 100% this location and we will back in the near future to try out more of their menu and drinks. It's located in the heart of Downtown Alhambra and the vibes are great!

I have been going to this chicken koop for over a year now and yesterday was probably my last time going. I was so excited to go because on Instagram they were promoting $7 margaritas and happy hour specials during the fifa World Cup games. We arrived, there was only 1 server so we had to wait like 20 minutes for a drink and another 30 minutes for our food. We ordered our food and drinks and when it was time to head out, the bill came out to $16 per margarita so I asked the server and she said they were not doing that special anymore yet keep in mind they had just posted about it on their instagram story that morning and it says "ALL LOCATIONS/ ALL DAY MON-Thurs" so it was clearly a lie. FALSE ADVERTISING AND THEY JUST LIKE TO STEAL YOUR MONEY. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION!! Save your money and go somewhere else.

I've dined here a few times and it never disappoints. The bar has to be one of my favorites since it has great additive free tequilas! You can catch a game, have a great drink and good food and go home completely satisfied. The service yesterday could have been better, our server didn't check if we needed anything or if we were enjoying our meal. Had she have asked, I would have pointed out the Mac n cheese. It's probably my least favorite side dish here. The taste was off and I didn't bother with it. I did however, love the potato salad to go with my chicken and naan bread. My son ordered the chicken and waffle sandwich with poutine fries which he devoured. Overall, this restaurant is always a good time and the music is always a vibe. I would recommend dining here for any occasion.

If Boston Mkt was grown up, it would be The Chicken Koop! Tasty roasted chicken that is juicy and falls off the bone. I've never been disappointed eating here! Elidia was running back and forth as she was the only one that was taking orders, bussing tables and delivering orders as someone had called out and leaving her to handle everything. Even though it was busy, she handled it like a champ! The vibe playing 90's music and it being brunch happy hour made the ambiance pretty energetic. Brussels sprouts were perfect as well as sweet potato fries. The garlic sauce and cilantro green sauce is always delicious. If you haven't tried this place, you gotta come out and give it a try and you won't be disappointed!

This was the old Shakas location which closed and now we have Chicken and Beer. We only came by to order beer on tap and to enjoy a conversation with friends. Every time I stop by here it always has customers and is never empty. We ordered our beer and enjoyed the music they were playing, they also show sports on the big screen televisions.

This place left me full and satisfied. We almost ordered too much food! I got the chicken and waffles and it was delicious. What stuck out to me the most was the side chick sauce which kind of reminds me of a chili crisp sauce which went really well with the fried chicken. I was also a big fan of their fried pickles! Service was great and attentive and for a Sunday morning it wasn't too busy.

I've been to the Chicken Koop location in Whittier and really enjoyed it. When my boyfriend suggested their Alhambra location for dinner I was easily convinced. It's a busy area over there, but it's pretty convenient that they are right across from a parking garage. Upon entering it was really busy and popular. It was dark and pretty noisy in general and compared to their other location. We were lucky to score a small table in the corner, but it was cramped. My boyfriend and I both ordered their 1/2 Roasted Chicken Plate ($18.99/each). I had my chicken upgraded to their Butter Garlic style ($2.50). This plate comes with 2 sides and 2 dipping sauces. My boyfriend had the mac and cheese, brussels sprouts, garlic spread and garlic ginger sauces. I had their roasted corn, sweet plantains, garlic spread, and chimichurri. The food was ready in about 10 minutes after we ordered so that wasn't too bad. The meal also came with some toasted pita bread, which was a nice touch. My boyfriend was really disappointed with his chicken. Mine was okay but not as great as I remember it being from their Whittier location. We did not like the mac and cheese. The brussels could be crispier. We agreed my roasted corn was the best side. The sweet plantains had a nice crispiness on the edges and I treated it like a dessert after my meal. As for the sauces, I did not like the chimichurri at all. I should have stuck with double garlic spread. The one thing I remembered most about this experience was the AWFUL WATER. Gross. The worst water I ever sipped, to the point I had to spit it back out. Gross. If service was more attentive I would have ordered a soda or something. I was thirsty and dry throughout my whole meal but couldn't bear to touch that water. Service was neglectful down to the last minute. We had to waveeee down stuff to get the check. The young lady who got our bill said this is the bill, but we needed to wait for our assigned waitress to close us out. Thankfully that girl went and grabbed our waitress, or we would have been stuck there even longer. We asked for a small box for my leftovers so we had to wait around a bit longer. Portion was decent, but the standard chicken seems dry and the sides were a hit or miss. For such a stressful area and disappointing service, I'm not really in a hurry to come back.

Came in today to watch a game during lunch. I got a cucumber drink that was pretty refreshing. Also got the Belly Buster sandwich. I was expecting the waffle to be crispier? Or at least hold its shape but it was really soggy. It was hard to eat because everything was falling apart. Aside from that, the flavor was great. You do need to add the maple syrup though because the chicken sandwich alone is a little dry. The garlic fries on the side were great too. This was about $19? Other people in my group got the bottomless mimosas for $25 a head. Price point is alright. Not the best but not bad either. Service was great. Our server was attentive. He did forget our drink once but that's alright. It was pretty busy during the time we went. I assume it was cause of the basketball and baseball game going on. It was a lively feel. I'm not sure if I would come back. Maybe if it's for social reasons. They do have drinks here but didn't try them today. With the price point and quality, I'd probably only come if someone else suggests it or it's convenient. It's not something I'd crave.

This spot opened about a year ago, and has a cool speakeasy style entrance at the Highland Park Bowl bowling alley. It is a small space, and I would highly recommend making a reservation on Resy. You have 90 minutes to drink and dine. I parked behind the bowling alley where there is a medium sized pay parking lot. Park in a space, remember your space number painted on the ground, and go to the pay station at the end of the lot. I found the parking machine to be extremely finicky as did other people. After ten minutes of failure, I ended up moving my car to another space, and then it worked. This has nothing to do with the Lucky Tiki, but FYI if you park there. We walked around to the front of the bowling alley, and checked in. Seating options include at the bar, tiki hut booths, and high top tables. The décor inside is a tiki lovers paradise. The room has a high ceiling with many tiki lamps, floats, puffer fish, tiki huts, thatch, ropes, barrels, netting, carvings, a hanging canoe, and a large tiki right in the middle of the space. In addition to the great décor, when you order certain drinks, special effects are triggered. There was also great tiki music playing all evening. We sat at the bar since we always enjoy talking to the bartenders. We actually ran into Skipper Christian in the parking lot on the way in, and he ended up being our main bartender, with Nick and Jo also working behind the bar. We put in a food order right away. The chicken potstickers ($12) came with five tasty bites, and the garlic teriyaki dipping sauce was good. We also had the giant pretzel ($16) which comes with mustard, beer cheese, and ranch sauces. This was excellent, and the perfect filling snack before a bunch of drinks. My first drink was the Siren's Song (Flor de Cana Eco rum, lemon juice, cassis, Oloroso sherry, apricot foam topper, $19). This drink is served in a great mermaid with skull mug and triggers special sound effects and bubbles fill the air. Those bubbles on top of the drink had a great light citrusy apricot flavor, probably the best flavored bubbles I've ever had. The drink itself was very good and balanced with some complexity. She wasn't sure what to order at first, and Christian asked her what flavors she liked. He ended up making a spin on a Tradewinds with some mango and pineapple to go along with the apricot and coconut. It was nicely balanced and not too sweet, even with all that fruit in there. My second drink was the Sun of Suns (Tierra de Acre mezcal, coconut cream, Giffard mango liqueur, pineapple juice, lime juice, $17). This was coconut and pineapple forward with some good smokiness in the background. Her second drink was the Whatever Floats Your Boat (Ford's gin, lemon juice, velvet falernum, orgeat, passion fruit syrup, guava soda, topped with hazelnut passion fruit foam, $19). It is served in a cool boat mug, and triggers thunder sound effects and lighted mechanical Polynesian tiki characters paddling a canoe over the bar. This was another good balanced drink. It was a little gin forward and the passion fruit popped out, maybe from being both in the drink and the foam top. That creamy hazelnut passion fruit form on top is delicious. I'd happily have a glass of that on its own. We were still a little hungry so we ordered the Hawaiian pizza (marinara, diced pepperoni, red onion, pineapple chunks, hot capicola ham, $16). It was another good tasting, perfectly sized snack, and the crust was light and airy. We were already fifteen minutes over our time limit, but we got the green light to stay longer to order a third drink to share. We ordered the Tiki Diablo (Flor de Cana Eco rum, Worthy Park 109 rum, Alma Tepecha chile liqueur, orange juice, lime juice, mango syrup, guava soda, $24). This drink serves two people, is served in a cool volcano bowl with glowing red lava around it, and comes with a fire show. Unfortunately, right after it was served, the host came over and said we were over our time and had to leave shortly. Christian made up for it by giving us two tall pours to go enjoy in the bowling alley bar area which was fine. We were happy we got some extra time inside. The drink was also very good, balanced with a little complexity. We had a great time. There is so much great décor to look at. The drinks and food were very good, and some of the the drink presentations and special effects were the icing on the cake. All of the bartenders were very friendly and a lot of fun. We purchased up a few zombie glasses to take home as a souvenir. I'd definitely recommend visiting the Lucky Tiki in Highland Park!

TLDR: Improved technology, more modern look, still affordable…read more I had been meaning to check out this newly reopened bowling alley for a while now, so I'm glad I finally got to go! I'm not sure if it's being run by the same owner or if someone else took over, but the building looks much more modern now. It's a little bittersweet to see all the nostalgic pieces of my childhood gone, but it's hard to deny that it's for the best. Prices were still pretty affordable. The staff member let us know that there's a cheaper deal on weekdays, which is pretty normal for bowling alleys. There is clearly a lot more seating on the top floor. The addition of all the tables is really nice. I also noticed that they removed the extra TVs that used to either play ads or sports and stuff. They also got rid of all the pool tables that I never saw anyone use. The screens and control panels are all updated to this modern design too. Something else that was interesting was how the old bowling ball racks were moved to the side of the building to make room for bag hooks behind the people bowling. Although it's a good idea, it's kind of hard to watch your belongings when they're behind you like that, so it leaves your stuff kind of open for stealing. It's also easier to grab the bowling ball you need though because they're all in one place instead of spread across the whole building. The only thing that I kind of hate is the seating down by the alley. There's actually less seating down there with these standalone dining table sets replacing the old benches. Since our party arrived when there were many other people there, we only had one side of the lane while strangers were on the other side. It's just a little awkward to sit at a dining table with strangers like that. Not to mention, the seating arrangement left a lot of people standing and kind of made it hard to communicate with each other. In terms of bowling mechanics, I think the amount of time it takes for the bowling ball to return has been reduced significantly. I'm so glad we don't have to wait ages for the ball to return for the second throw! The machine also didn't seem to experience incorrect racking, which used to happen all the time here. Sadly, the screen does not tell you the mph your throw was at anymore. I always thought that was a very helpful feature, so it's a shame to see it go. Lastly, the floors seemed well cleaned and waxed. I didn't have to powder my shoes and felt like my bowling ball glided pretty smoothly down the alleyway. Overall, I think this bowling alley is nice. I'm glad to have an alley that's close to my house again!

The decor is also very nice, it's like a transformation walking into a tasting area in a winery. I get why this place is the way it is, it is a different persona from the other owned establishment, but wine can be intimidating. You have the reds, whites, the sweets, the sparkling and etc. Not only the difference in profile, but you can pair it with food to enhance the overall flavor. There's potential to display educational decor or have sessions to educate. They do provide a wine club, but small steps can establish commitments with a new customer base. The pizza is delicious. The most underrated pizza since we are all accustomed to a lot of toppings on pizzas. This is a must try. This place out of the other owned spots has burrata cheese. I think adding mozzarella with burrata would improve this pie, but nonetheless still good. The truffle pig pizza was also good. If you're looking for meaty and something not too light, this would be a good option. I definitely will be back. Thanks for everything!

Came here for the happy hour. The deals are pretty good. Would come back again…read more Ordered 2 pizza and a charcuterie board. The pizza was well seasoned and decent size. Definitely would recommend the mushroom pizza, one of the best I had. Wine selection was good. Waiter was helpful and knowledgeable when it came to selecting wine.

We usually enjoy stopping by for the laid back vibe in the bar area and enjoy their happy hour drinks, small bites and friendly customer service from the bar staff. It was once again becoming a regular hang out spot like the old diner so I hope that don't stay closed for too long.

I remember when it was the Diner on Main and, since then, the interior has been remodeled. The interior is comfortable, clean, and the lighting makes the place quite intimate. As for the food, I thought it was very well-seasoned without being too salty. These were the dishes we got: Chicken Salad ($28): A cold chicken salad with fried taro strips, pickled peppers, shredded carrots, cilantro, and sweet pickled onions. I thought this would be very bland, but it turned out to be my favorite dish because of how refreshing it is. The chicken is boiled like hainan chicken and seasoned with a light, tangy sauce. Everything went well together. 4.5/5 stars Orange Chicken ($18): This is a pretty typical orange chicken. I don't think it wow'd me, but I liked that it wasn't overly breaded. 4/5 stars Black Pepper Filet Mignon with Mushrooms ($25): I'm not a huge mushroom person, but I really liked the mushrooms here. It was a combo of oyster mushrooms and button mushrooms with cubed filet mignon. The beef was also really tender, almost melt-in-your-mouth. 4/5 stars Shrimp in XO sauce ($25): This dish was slightly spicier than I expected, but it was also pretty good. The size of the shrimp was huge and the vegetables were on point. It had snap peas, bell peppers, and mountain potato (aka Japanese mountain yam). 4/5 stars The service was very attentive and the owner of the restaurant was very kind. The owner helped us mix the chicken salad at the beginning of our meal and helped my mom cut her birthday cake at the end of the meal. 5/5 stars for service. I'll definitely be back to try other dishes.

We came in around 6:30. They had just opened but the atmosphere was ready! Dark and moody with candles on the table, it was the perfect spot to grab a drink and catch up. Jeremy was our bartender and he was fantastic. Super chill and friendly and made us some amazing drinks based on a few preferences. Our "bartenders choice" drinks were amazing, so much so that our "drink to end the night" turned into two drinks and some appetizers. We ordered taquitos and mozzarella sticks. Overall all three of us ladies loved this place! We definitely plan to be back! Let Jeremy make you a drink - you won't regret it. He makes them custom for you and he definitely knows what he is doing. *they do ask for a password which you can request on their website... but I would do that 24-48 hours before you plan to visit. We didn't have that days password and simply asked the front door.
