This is the first I've heard of a real life mocktail bar. They serve drinks with no alcohol! I recommend checking out the menus on their website. It's easier to read and has pictures. They are categorized by flavor profile. I tried 2-3 drinks, and they all tasted good. I tried a couple bites of the "calamari" (fried mushroom) and caprese. All the food here is vegan, and I wasn't very impressed with the two that I ordered already. I wouldn't order food again here. Friendly, accessible (!!!) spot run by a couple. They were kind enough to put a few tables outside for us when we asked. Everything is made by scratch by this lovely couple, so things may take a second and cost more than you're used to. As a nondrinker and person who can't drink caffeine, this is the largest and most elaborate drink menu I've run into in a while with many options at many price points. There's even discounts on refills, which is ridiculous for a place where every flavor and juice is hand squeezed. They have a lot of heart put a lot of places, including into groups, people and all the food and drink. We live a bit far otherwise we'd be visiting this lovely third space even more. read more

I came for their Kpop Demon Hunters trivia night! It was lots of fun and I loved the owners, food, drinks and restaurant. I hope they're able to stay in business, because it's a wonderful place, and they have such heart and care for their community. I'm lactose intolerant and allergic to onions, and they took excellent care of me. I really enjoyed the creamy pasta that had no dairy. I wouldn't have known if I'd tasted it blind. I also hate the taste of alcohol, so getting to choose from so many neat mocktails was so fun! Arleo, the mixologist and one of the owners, even made drinks for each of the demon hunters! I got the Rumi, it was sweet but also had a smoky, warming quality. Great choice based on her character. Also tried the Very Magical Cat, a nice fruity drink with pretty colors. The bone marrow appetizer was my favorite! So flavorful and savory. I enjoyed the tofu cheesecake too. Good texture, though I could have used more sweetness. Thank you so much Amber for being so hospitable and for delicious food! It was fun singing with you too. I'll be coming back asap because this month might be their last. We first learned about Free-Spirited Lounge via a mahjong event hosted here. Our obsession with mahjong aside, my husband doesn't drink alcohol and I am prediabetic (despite my sweet tooth) so we love that Free Spirited Lounge exists. They serve amazing alcohol-free cocktails (with available-sugar-free options!) and meals that accommodate a range of dietary needs including vegan and halal. Drinks-wise, so far we've had the Quarantine Heart, Daily Flip, Hero of Hyrule, Moon & Stars, Green Moissanite, and Nueva Ecija. Next to try: Scooter SSR, Very Magical Cat.... Basically, I want to try all the cocktails. Most impressive of all is that only two people run this place and do everything. What used to be a çonquistador-themed Mexican restaurant still has that old-school vibe but is now a cozy and accessible space for games and music events, or just to hang out with friends. (I see dogs are welcome too!) This is such a hidden gem that more people need to know about, because they deserve more business to survive. You roll a d20 die and it dictates the type of sweetness you will receive with the drink! Such a cool idea! I rolled a d4 which contained Aquafaba as its sweetener. Even with its low sweetness, it really is such a light and refreshing drink! You can taste the bitters but its not overpowering. A well balanced drink! I also ordered the mushroom crostini with truffle oil & salt! The bread is super soft and the blend of all the flavors just makes it such a delicious appetizer! Late twenties. For me, someone who's been done with school for (more than) a couple years now, this is a hard time to meet new people. In my quest to find new "third spaces," I happened upon Common Ground, a mahjong group hosting events around the 626 area. One of these events, "Free Spirited Mahjong," has been recurring on Thursdays at Free Spirited, a sober and (mostly) vegan craft cocktail lounge. The inside is quaint and cozy. Plush booths and tables with swanky armchairs were each stationed with a mahjong set. The bar was especially magical, and, in contrast to the lounge's warm, ambient lighting, was illuminated by a faint otherworldly glow.  Our bartender, Arleo, was very nice. I liked listening to him explain the drinks and the virgin spirits that he brewed himself. As a fledgling mixologist, one of the reasons I wanted to come was to learn more about mocktails, and listening to Arleo was enlightening, productive, and fun. My first drink of the night was the Very Magical Cat, which caught my attention online because of its eye-catching colors. The flavor profile was delicious - sweet and floral. I love anything with passionfruit, and I can never resist a butterfly peaflower moment.  Next, I had The Initiative, a very creative and nerdy cocktail with a Dungeons and Dragons concept. The base of this mocktail is a bitter red cordial, used to substitute aperitifs such as Aperol or Campari. Citrus is added from calamansi and bubbles from hopwater. The most interesting part of this drink, however, is the sweetener, or more specifically, the method by which you choose your sweetener. Arleo will hand you a D20 dice. It lit up when it touched my hands! Your roll will determine what kind of sweetener is used in your drink. I rolled a 2, which got me aquafaba (not very sweet, but anything under 10 will get you something not very sweet). Arleo whipped up my drink and served it to me in a copper mug. Refreshing and hoppy. I'm tempted to revisit just so that I can roll again. My friends really enjoyed their drinks as well. Our collective favorite drink was the Butterbeer. It was sweet like honey, and almost tasted like cider to me. I had a lovely time at Free Spirited, and would definitely come back. The drinks were delicious, and everyone got to enjoy them without having to worry about having a designated driver. The craftsmanship put into these drinks was just as, if not more, exquisite as that of a cocktail. And, they're very affordable. If anything, I feel like they could charge even more for their drinks. They have a small parking lot on the side of the bar. There's also street parking on Main St. This was a really cool place with a purpose. All the drinks were affordable, delicious mocktails. They were all only $8 each with tax and tips included. Although, you could always put down more and donate to one of their charities. They also had yummy food. All of their food was vegan. You need to reserve entrees in advance. They appeared very accommodating with food allergies. Came during a private event. Got the X'ed Out. Love that their single, giant cube had their initials. It was really good and unique. Multiple people got the Firepit Nights and they all said it was delicious. My table got the Truffle Chickpeas for $8, Chips & Guacamole for $10, and "Calamari" for $12. They came out hot, were shareable, and were all really tasty. The trumpet mushrooms made an amazing calamari substitute. Another person in my table got the Dirt Coupe for $9 and said it was delicious. It was served in a really pretty dessert bowl. Really liked that the food looked just the pictures on the menu. The place wasn't too big, but could accommodate a good amount of people. There were board games free to play. They had multiple events like fundraisers, mocktail classes, mahjong, and speed dating. This is a non-alcholic bar that has monthly events! They have their own small parking lot off of Huntington Blvd. Their location was easy to find. Their drinks are so good I cant believe it doesnt contain alcohol! The bartender brought our drinks to us and while I didnt order food, it smelled amazing when it was brought out for somebody else. It is an extremely chill and casual environment and they have some table top board games that others can play at their tables. They have dim lights to create that bar life, and they even have a plastic are throwing game. The only sad part is they dont have air conditioning. It gets super expensive so they just have the industrial floor fans that are blowing all over the place! Their restroom has a squat stool and perfume, feminine pads and tampons. I thought that was awesome to have that in the bathroom. Im really glad to have come here for a casual night of mahjong with some friends. I love the hospitality of everyone there! Free Spirited Lounge is such a cool little spot in Alhambra. The menu is almost entirely vegan, but you can sub in meat if you want; so it works whether you're plant-based or not. The food surprised me in the best way (as someone who is not vegan/vegetarian). The vegan scallops (made from oyster mushrooms) were my favorite; the texture was spot on and they were super flavorful. The bone marrow was a close second, and it's wild that it's made completely from mushrooms because it hits that rich, savory note (like real bone marrow) perfectly. It's run by a husband and wife as their second job, and you can tell they genuinely care about the place. Another big plus; all the drinks are non-alcoholic. It's perfect if you don't drink, but also great if you usually do and just want a fun night without alcohol. The vibe is welcoming and cozy. They also have the menu online as they have limited paper menus. When I came here, I almost missed the restaurant. Also, be careful not to get on the wrong one-way road to get to the parking lot! I tried a few of their drinks - All My Best, Phoenix Rising, and Very Magical Cat; all are $12 each but has the 20% tip included in the price! I wasn't a fan of the All My Best. Phoenix Rising was good but was actually very little amount in the cup?! My favorite was the sweeter Very Magical Cat. I don't like the taste of alcohol so a whole mocktail bar sounded amazing! I'd had Free Spirited bookmarked for awhile, but recently saw a post that said they are struggling and might have to close by end of Jan. The very next day, I took my sister and my bf to check it out. They have a parking lot! The interior was really cool. It was dark and moody with leather booths and games as well. There were a couple of tables playing mahjong and a large group gathered for a game that was being hosted there. Apparently, Free Spirited hosts mahjong every Thu, jazz on Sun, and different events on the other days - their Jan calendar can be found on their website. If I lived closer, I'd def want to join for mahjong, but Alhambra is a far drive on the weekdays. We tried several things on both the food menu and the drink menu. The stand out food items are chips & salsa (addicting and salsa wasn't spicy which is perfect for me because I can't handle any spice), calamari made from mushrooms (also addicting), and bone marrow made from a mushroom and stuffed with more mushrooms (super flavorful and unique). My sister and I LOVE mushrooms, so we were excited that so many of the dishes contained mushrooms. All the dishes were also vegan (with option to sub in chicken) and although no one in my party was vegan, 2/3 of us are lactose intolerant so the menu was perfect for us. Of the drinks, Crafter Hours tasted like an elevated Martinelli's, Daily Flip tasted like an horchata, Quarantine Heart tasted like a pina colada, and Very Magical Cat tasted like lychee juice. My favorite was Rittenhart which creamy and sweet and so tasty! Just a warning that Moon & Stars is really bitter which my bf didn't mind, but I lean toward sweet stuff. This place is run by a husband & wife team who are genuinely good people. They partner with organizations that help families who are in need of meals/had their SNAP benefits taken away. I asked them why their prices are so low (seriously, their prices are so low that it actually makes me mad). They told me they want to make the bar/restaurant as accessible as possible. Which is great for their customers, but not great for them... I really hope they don't close. The place has such a great vibe with fun events scheduled, super affordable mocktails, and delicious food. They'd probably do really well near a college campus where students are always looking for a place to hang out with cheap food/drinks. WOW!! This place is a hidden gem. First of all the owners who were both the servers and bartenders gave Spectacular service! They were very knowledgeable about all of the drinks and various non-alcoholic components that gave a twinge of positive mood charging without the nefarious effects of alcohol. I got very magical cat which had sweet, fruity and flowery notes to it. Crafter hours had bright citrusy notes with juicy popping boba. We also got crunchy chickpeas and green beans. Both were extremely delicious and very well seasoned. I was actually blown away at how beautiful the inside is. It makes you feel like you are in a 1930s speakeasy. Unfortunately for me (my main food group is meat) this place is very vegan. Now you CAN get meat added to almost every dish but its still made with plant butter, vegetables, etc. The tip and stuff is already INCLUDED in the menu price which is awesome!!! Amber and Arleo are super nice and kind, welcoming and talkative. They definitely treat you like family right away. The whole atmosphere of the place was intimate and dark, a speakeasy type but WAY more welcoming than a regular bar. They have board/card games and even (plastic) axe throwing. As Amber said, its a place you can dress up OR down for! We got the bread (really good! I couldnt even tell it was plant butter) and the (real) chicken tacos. Im not wild about corn tortillas but they make these in house and i finally see what everyone is talking about. They were fluffy and good not like store bought. What a special little spot! Gives a new vibe to "mom and pop ". The owners are your chef and server and both are lovely people. The menu is gluten, dairy and diabetic friendly. The vibe is zero waste and even recovery friendly so expect fun non alcoholic beverages. The vibe is old school - leather booths, iron hardware, dark and cheery for the holidays. We ordered everything! the asparagus was delicious. We also ordered the green beans and the crostini. The truffle crostini was one of my favorites. This is such an amazing find! My girls & I wanted to have a girl's night out but without the alcohol & just the vibes! This place is exactly THAT place! The ambiance & decor inside is just stunning & reminiscent of nighttime bar/restaurant. The owner is also very flexible with the menu and accommodating for people. Service is excellent. Food is also amazing and well thought out. We tried various dishes and our favorite was the mushroom scallops (sauce is amazing) and it's nice that everything is vegan except for people who do want meat there is the option to add chicken. They do use mushrooms in a few of the menu items to give that rich umami taste. The bone marrow is interesting and quite inventive with a base of king oyster mushroom. My friend who is allergic to seafood was so happy she could eat "calamari" again which was also fried king oyster mushroom in a nostalgic circular shape. The cocktails are also inventive. They are all zero proof due to the owners life experience with drink drivers and how alcohol has negatively impacted their lives. I absolutely love this place! It's everything a small business should be: accommodating, good at what they do, and purposeful. No matter if you're sober by choice or just sober-curious, Free Spirited welcomes you with open arms. I had such a good experience here the other night with my girlfriends. We took a while to order because we were chatting away, but the waitress was very patient with us. She explained the menu and then we made our picks. There are so many delicious drinks! And honestly, I didn't miss the alcohol. The flavors were all so good. The drink menu is separated by type: Health Conscious, Funky Flavors, Sweet Stuff, and Caffeinated. I had both the Quarantine Heart and Firepit Nights. The first one was sweet and fruity, but very pleasant. But all of us ordered the latter. It's so good. Very spicy, but kind of reminds me of a margarita. We were very confused by the giant reusable straws at first because they are boba straws. But there is a boba drink on the menu. And I think it's great that they're trying to be more sustainable. We weren't going to order food, but after the spiciness of the Firepit Nights, I wanted something in my stomach, so we ordered their guac. You MUST order it! Honestly, one of the best guacs I've ever had. Nice and limey the way I like it. You could taste how fresh it was. And Arleo (one of the owners) told us they make it to order every time. My sister, her bf and I came by Free Spirited tonight and we weren't sure what to expect. When my sister asked me if I wanted to try this spot I was intrigued - especially as a non-drinker. I'm used to going to bars and lounges where I'm only able to get sodas on tap and only recently has bars started carrying a small mocktail menu but a whole space dedicated to mocktails - that's a freakin dream! We drove from Koreatown to Alhambra in the rain so that we can try this spot out. First impression of the outside is that it's unassuming. You actually don't really know it's a restaurant but once we got in it was kind of a cool medieval speakeasy vibe. Covered in dark wood paneling and rounded booths it looked as if we stepped back in time. This whole lounge is ran by a couple: Amber plays hostess, server, busser and cook) and Arleo who is the mixologist. Tonight was a packed night and both were running around trying to make sure everyone had what they need. Coming from the hospitality world, I know it's not easy to execute and I give it to them for running the show alone. The drink menu is very extensive as they call it the A-Z menu which has a drink for every letter in the alphabet. They offer $5 flights for the mocktails along with $8 for the full size. I got a Quarantine Heart and it was a very yummy pina colada vibes with frozen raspberry garnish (very delicious!) This was so yummy that I got two. Now onto the food, they serve a vegan friendly menu and GF too. My sister and I shared the vegan scallops, "bone marrow," calamari, chips with salsa, and black garlic pasta. I love the concept of the food, for instance the bone marrow looked like real bone marrow but it's actually a mushroom carved out to look like the bone and stuffed with mushrooms. As a huge mushroom lover, I loved the use of mushrooms in their dishes! Vegan restaurants are hard to find especially good vegan ones so I'm very impressed that they make such yummy vegan items and as someone who isn't vegan and generally would be skeptical of a fully vegan menu - i was thoroughly impressed! While eating and drinking here we found out that they're actually struggling to keep the lounge afloat and while it was a busy night it was apparently not the norm. It's actually sad to hear because the food and drinks are so good and the owners could not be nicer people. They support a lot of causes and have donations for people whose lost their Snap benefits and yet here they are about to close down on a dream they started together. Then we found out all the prices already included tax and tip which is insane bc where can you go where a handcrafted mocktail is $8?!??! Absolutely nowhere! My workplace charges $16 for a mocktail and I'm going to say it doesn't have the level of ingredients that this place has. The owners take a lot of pride that they make everything in house (versus buying bottled spirit free mixers) and they try to reduce food waste buy utilizing ingredients they need for their food menu items. Really necessary spot! They have the ambiance, the drinks are actually ON POINT (obviously minus the alcohol), but you can tell this whole place and concept was well thought out. Even their considerations on how to make the drinks-- You're not just paying for a cocktail with some juice and simple syrup or something. You do feel like you are "out" in a bar setting, just minus the alcohol. Also they have some board games and a really mini dance floor, but still it's a nice vibe. The bartender who I think was the owner was quite friendly. I hope they keep elevating this spot! I have to go back to try the food. read more

Came out here on a Saturday evening and the owner was celebrating his birthday My fiancé and I ordered drinks (for myself The Initiative and for him Xed Out) chips and guac, chickpeas with Hoppa seasoning, and this was just the appetizers! We also ordered dinner, fettuccine with chicken and the chicken adobo. Everything was delicious The music was definitely poppin'! Lots of remixes, which made everything super festive! Our LO played with the board games, and the axes (with supervision of course). Highly recommend this place! Come on by, especially for the NA cocktails! In July, I dined here with my sober alcoholic boyfriend who wanted to try out a sober bar. The food was good and perfect for me since I'm a vegan, and the cocktails interesting, some sweet and a ome savory. The concept of the restaurant is unique; there is a memorial to those who suffered due to a drunk driver and another for those who suffered from addiction. It was a really nice night; we enjoyed our meal and drinks, chatted with Arleo and Amber who shared their stories, and threw axes at the dart board. My boyfriend opened up to me more than he ever had about his alcoholism. As a cruel twist of fate, he overdosed two nights later. It is now nearly six months later, and I don't live in the area, but I returned to leave a picture of the two of us at the memorial for addiction. read more

What a wonderful concept - a mocktail bar! Set in a former Mexican restaurant (think rolled leather booths and iron chandeliers) that, apparently, also has a history as a speakeasy before that! The owners are super-friendly and take well-deserved pride in their business. The mocktails and food (all vegan and made with love from scratch!) are off-the-charts good! I loved the ofrenda displays in honor of those who have lost a loved one to drunk driving as well as a second one dedicated to those struggling with addiction. Charming hidden gem in Alhambra, it serves lots of pretty hand-crafted mocktails. It's a nice alternative hangout spot with friends, where we can play card games, grab a bite, and not worry about picking a DD. I truly admire the owner's vision of opening this modern mocktail spot with social responsibility in mind! Omg! This place is SO freakin' cool! You MUST visit this place with your friends and family. The food was so tasty and well thought out by the owners! This is food that was designed with love and passion. I am gluten intolerant so this place was a refuge for me. I could be MYSELF and not have to pick and choose what would be safe. My wife is also not a fan of alcohol (taste) so the mocktails were perfect for her. I loved them too, especially the smokey one. It had such a range of flavors. The service is sooooooooo amazing. The owners are both lovely people. Friendly and kind! And they come to your table and make you feel at home. The restaurant is so well decorated. The restrooms so cute and designed with customers in mind. There is a lounge area too with games. What!? Dude. This place is so great. read more

This is a charming, chill, I think someone else here said it has a "speakeasy" vibe, which describes this perfectly. My partner and I wandered in a few months after they were open, because we were huge fans of Caramba, and wanted to see what took their spot. We were so pleasantly delighted by this non-alcoholic bar, and their mostly vegan menu (they have a couple non-vegan/meat options). I've been feeling that it's so crucial to have spaces to gather and socialize at night that don't involve alcohol. The cocktails are creative and tasty. I haven't had the chance to have much of the food there, but what I have had (the popcorn and the rice pudding) has been delicious. The prices may seem high at first glance, but remember that tax and tip are included. The owners, Arleo and Amber, are very friendly and warm. From our conversations with them, they aspire to make this a community spot for events, music, art, etc. The also have board games, a karaoke setup, a dance floor, etc, so if you have events or gatherings or anything, keep them in mind as a potential venue! A robust sober cocktail menu and dietary restriction friendly menu? What more could you ask for?? All their spirits are made from scratch in house and are 0% ABV (alcohol free!) not to mention delicious. My favorite cocktails are the Tough Tide, the Rittenhart and the Very Magical Cat. They also have a creative scratch kitchen with some really yummy gluten free and vegan bites. My go-to's are the hapa popcorn, "scallops," "calamari," and the hongo asado tacos, but everything on their menu is worth trying and they often do seasonal specials. Also the vegan Zero Caviar is a wonderful treat for a special night, it's seriously so good; I actually like it better than regular caviar! It's also just a fun place to hang out, very cozy atmosphere with board games and sometimes special events like karaoke, drag bingo and DJ rave nights. Owners Arleo and Amber truly care about every guest that comes to their restaurant, and they work very hard to bring this special sober space to the community. Definitely give it a visit! A lovely establishment owned by lovely people! The atmosphere is so warm and cozy with a touch of whimsy, bathrooms are nicely maintained and the whole location itself is very accessible! The food and drink are lovingly prepared by the owners and very generous in portion and flavor! I tried their truffle chickpeas, garlic "scallops" and adobo chicken rice and they're all A+ For drinks, you probably can't go wrong with any of the sodas. The mocktails are also very interesting but I have yet to try them all! Every recipe is lovingly crafted and super unique. Definitely check them out! read more

I had the crafter hours with mango popping boba. It was amazing. Followed by the firepit nights! As for food we started with the asparagus and candied carrots they were both delicious We then ordered the main dishes the black garlic pasta (that's made in house) and a chicken picatta the owners Arleo & Amber kept checking to ensure we were fine and to see what we thought about the food. PS. They have board games you can use we picked the Uno cards flip. They also have Karaoke on Wednesday nights. Don't need to be living a sober life to come here but it's nice to reset and enjoy a good drink and gluten free meal. I'm coming back soon! read more

Definitely an experience which is worth going at least once! We got here on a Sunday evening around 530 and were seated right away. We were helped by the staff a lot and they were attentive and always smiled. We really enjoyed the "scallops" and the non-alcoholic drinks. The food was more "tapas" style where it's mostly meant to be shared. The room is a bit dark and has that tavern environment feeling which is the theme they are going for. It's actually a pretty good family date or family night spot since you can have cool looking drinks without the alcohol. read more
