We ordered the barramundi, Atlantic salmon, and giant shrimp. The fish was nicely seasoned, and the shrimp had good flavor as well. However, the sides really brought the experience down. The rice that came with our meals was undercooked and had a hard texture, which made it difficult to enjoy with the fish. It felt like something that should've been caught before serving. My family and I have been to multiple locations for California Fish Grill and the employees here are by far the best. The food is always great, but the employees definitely make it more enjoyable. I'll be honest, my family had to ask for sauces, water cups, and more napkins and the employees never got irritated. They're always smiling and came to check on every table a few times even though it's a self seating place. Omgggg! this place always hits the spot if you're looking for a place serving Fresh & Delicious Seafood! We ordered the Lobster Roll and it tasted good but we might not get it again just cause we might want to try something new in the menu. We also ordered the Fish & Chips and that is always a Banger! 10/10 for that crispy and soft fish and chips. It tastes so fresh when you take that first to last bite of that fish. Highly recommend Fish & Chips. The service here is great and the chefs made our food so quick it didn't take more than 10mins unlike other places out there. They now have a lobster roll, and I was surprised it was actually pretty good for $14. I also got the protein bowl for free through an in-app reward, and it was good as well. Was super excited when this spot was about to open two years ago--and it did not disappoint. Same plaza as Panda Express, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Dave's Hot Chicken, and Ono's, so you've got plenty of food options around. Parking is surprisingly decent, which already makes this place a win. They have kiosk ordering now, which makes things quick and easy--no long lines, just tap, order, and wait for your food. I always order my usual: salmon and swai combo with garlic sauce because if you're not getting garlic sauce, what are you even doing? Gotta have my coleslaw, and hubby sticks with his rice and fries like a loyal man of habit. It's a solid protein meal when you're craving fish but don't want anything fancy--just good, happy comfort food. Gloria my dear! I love your food!!! I found out today that Gloria is the cook who makes the best costal shrimp tacos! She doesn't skimp on the sauces, it's perfectly cooked and saucy!!! I've enjoyed CFG at several locations and without fail will default to the Rosemead location because not only is the service excellent here, but the place is clean and the food always hits!!! Other places either skimp on the taco sauces or are stingy with the sides etc. Love the Rosemead team! Great job Fernando!!! You run a very happy store and it shows with your employees!! These folks have made it rough on me over the years. This is a place where I truly enjoy the concept and want them to succeed. So since it was a new year, I decided to give them another chance I went in and got the Seabass kale slaw and street corn. I have to say I really enjoyed my meal. The fish was done perfectly. The street corn had a wonderful char. And the kale slaw was a nice compliment. I wouldn't mind a slightly larger portion. But was very happy overall. The service here is still not great. People don't greet you when you come in employees will literally have a conversation in front of you instead of saying hi or asking if they can help you get an order together. I did notice that the restaurant seemed much cleaner than it's been in the past. All in all I felt they at least earned a slightly updated review. read more

While I usually ordered the fish dishes, I recently tried their taco Tuesday specials. The fish taco was excellent. Very fresh and still crispy, which is challenging once you add salsas, crema and toppings. You can substitute flour tortillas for corn tortillas as well. The Cajun shrimp tacos had quite a bit of shrimp and was well seasoned. It was spicy but not with a ton of heat. The tacos are packed with toppings like pickled onions and salsas. Excellent flavor between the fish, crispy batter, onions, dressing all came together very well. Very delightful lunch. Paired that with the rice and street corn was a perfect combination. So of you like battered fish you will enjoy this taco. My wife liked her shrimp taco more than the salmon saying the shrimp was much more flavorful. She would get the shrimp taco again. I saw some other patrons who got the entree platter and it looked delicious. I look forward to trying that the next time i visit. The location use to be a starbucks and expanded the adjacent shop that was a shoe store. Did a very nice job with the interior. The ambience is casual with plenty of seating. I've had my eye on California Fish Grill for the past few months. A friend of mine said she loves this fish chain, and I also saw it was in my area. She recommended that I try the grilled swai. I came here with my wife one evening for dinner. The restaurant is relatively small, and it has ordering kiosks which is nice. Staff are super nice. We ended up ordering a New England Clam Chowder, as well as a salmon and swai combo with kaleslaw and dynamite fries, and we shared that. The staff allowed us to request a variety of different sauces, and we ended up getting the green salsa and tartar sauce. I really loved the clam chowder, which I had not had in quite a while. The swai really did live up to the hype. Incredibly well seasoned, and went well with both the salsa and the tartar sauce. The kaleslaw was fairly standard. The salmon was good. The dynamite fries were amazing. This was a really amazing American fish restaurant. I would come back again. read more
