Decided to return because I was thinking about the Carne Asada steak plate and had a much better experience this time! During this visit, the wait time for food was significantly better than last time (only waited about 10 minutes). I also got the chance to try the Birria Taco, Shrimp taco, and Fish Taco. The Birria taco was divine! Well seasoned meat and had excellent flavors even though it didn't come to consumé. The fish and shrimp tacos were pretty good, too, but didn't stand out as much as the Birria one. The price of the food is also so reasonable!

Great old-school Mexican restaurant with good vibe. Staff friendly, service attentive, and food good. Nothing fancy just solid local spot that does things right. We had a good experience and would definitely come back.

This is a good place if you're craving Mexican food as you're driving through the San Gabriel Valley. Although the SGV is known for a lot of Asian food, this place fits right in! We came as a group and we all ordered something different. All the food was made fresh, and everything looked and smelled delicious. We had a taquito plate, a fajitas plate, a ceviche plate, everything was outstanding. The service was good also. We were greeted and seated as we walked in. The waiter took our order after briefly looking through the menu. This seems like a great place for happy hour or to view a major sporting event. Not to mention the great sound of mariachi music playing throughout the restaurant.

A night of Margachelas and Micheladas, with delicious pupusas, tacos are my go to. The food is delicious. The environment is comfortable and Keep TV for entertainment. I always enjoy a nice relaxing time here to get away from the bustle of life. Happy hours too!

Wife and I have been here twice. We've had their tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, & Pupusas - Revuelas. All food has been well prepared and tasty. Service has been friendly and attentive. They have daily specials and happy hours, so be sure to come at the right times to get the food and drink deals. Is it the best Mexican restaurant I've been to? The fanciest? Of course not. But I have nothing to complain about, so 5 stars.

"Thank You Casa Calderon" for great combination dinners. Started with taquitos appetizer plate. The Steak Picado went really good with the tasty beans & Rice. My Server was very patient and took care of all my needs while dinning.

The food was very good ! Ordered guac , chicken crispy taco, and fish ceviche!! On point with the seasoning! The service was elite! Miguel and Jessica was phenomenal!!! The ambiance is nothing much! Only slight issue I had is that it could have been a bit more clean inside! However, I will try it again and return for other options! Small parking lot they have for customers and parking in back. -Marshay D.

Casa Calderon consistently has fantastic service, and delicious food in a typical Mexican cafe setting. Daily rotating specials range from $5.97 to $15.99. Everything is made fresh so it might take a little longer than you're used to, but it's well worth the wait!

Service was great, seated right away. The waitress came by to make sure everything was ok. The tortillas were excellent as well as my rice and beans. I ordered the chili verde plate which was good, I did not care for the bone and cartilage that was in there. The restaurant is nice and clean and not too noisy.

This place always hits the spot when you want good Mexican food in the area. Service is pretty slow each time I have come but there's only 1 server taking care of everything. However, food does come out fast. I've had multiple types of plates and it's pretty standard fare. Their carne en su jugo is alright, it's not my favorite but it's passable and if I was craving some, this would satisfy my craving. Overall, it's a good Mexican food spot in the area.

How much for a dozen tamales?

Casa Calderon doesn't have tamales. Try their amazing Taco de Birria or Chile Relleno instead!

How are the taquitos and chips & salsa?

I liked the taquitos. Very simple and plain. The chips and salsa are horrible! The chips do not taste homemade and you get very few. Salsa if they don't run out it's just a green bland mess. Or you might get the red one that's just hot & no… Read more

Nothing has changed, Tomas is still behind the grill serving up tacos. The staff are probably just adjusting to the smaller workspace so quality might not be as consistent as before. The tacos were truly loaded with meat, surprised that the single corn tortilla held everything together nicely. Carne Asada is an absolutely must order, and Al Pastor could've been a bit more charred, but it was juicy and grilled pineapple added the perfect finishing touch. The real winner was honestly the salsa bar. They were individually good, and each bringing a diffident heat level and flavor. Plenty of containers and plastic bags to load up at the condiment station, but seriously double up on all the salsas.

Unfortunately, I read the review about the cockroaches and I was already on edge. There were quite a few cockroaches crawling through the trees on the sidewalk of where the truck was parked. Food: Asada Quesadilla (5/10): Super cheesy quesadilla with decent amount of asada! Unfortunately, the asada wasn't seasoned well and lacked a smoky flavor to it. There was a lot of fat pieces in here that were inedible that I had to spit out. The green salsa they provide at their salsa bar helped with the flavor. It was a pretty big quesadilla that can be shared between two people!

Decided to stop by here are rely in Yelp to find a good hidden hole-in-the-wall place for a quick burrito and fish tacos. Guess they have a lot of fish because the fish tacos were on $2.49 each and the other regular meats are like a dollar more. The fish tacos were actually good. Friend also got a asada taco and that was a little dry and pieces were burnt. A little surprised because it's just a basic taco and disappointed that the meat wasn't better. We also got an al pastor combination burrito. Don't know why but I was hoping it was like those big burritos you get at a taco stand or food truck. It's just meat, beans rice and cheese. First, it had very little flavor. Felt like I was eating a rice and bean burrito. The kicker was that the Al pastor meat was really burnt and just crumbs. It just didn't taste like much. For these hole-in-the -wall places I just expect something good like at a taco stand all over Los Angeles. But it was not worth it to me. I've had food trucks and taco stands way better.
