This place has been a staple for my family and me for years. My favorite breakfast has always been Chorizo con Huevos, and this is one of the first spots I think of when I'm absolutely craving it. I'd definitely call it a hidden gem, tucked among the many industrial and office buildings in the area. The food is consistently great and always hits the spot. Everything feels like it's cooked with care and love. The staff are friendly, and we've known them for years, which adds to the warm, family vibe. Once you sit down, ask for some chips and salsa for the table. The salsa has a real kick, but I put it on everything. For my main, I always go with the Chorizo & Eggs plate with beans and potatoes, served with your choice of flour or corn tortillas. My family has also tried the Albondigas soup and Sopes, both excellent. There's plenty of parking, and while they prefer cash, they accept credit cards with a fee and Zelle as well. This is one of those places that feels like home, with flavors that hit close to your heart. Tucked away in the industrial area of Alhambra off Palm and Mission. First time noticing El Patio Tepeyac. Decided to give a try since I coincidentally was in the mood for Mexican. Plenty of street and lot parking right in front of the the small restaurant. I was able to park directly in front of the entrance. I was greeted and attended to by a very friendly woman. I had been craving a chile relleno. Sadly, that was not a part of their menu offerings so I went with my 2nd go to...chilaquiles. Options for chilaquiles: choose the egg cook ( I chose scrambled), red or green salsa (green), rice and beans or rice and potatoes (rice/beans). My total was $16.53 which seemed a bit pricey. I did notice a sign stating they are assessing a temporary surcharge of $0.50 per egg. I also noticed a sign about charging for chips. I didn't read over the details of my receipt but I'm hoping there wasn't an additional charge for the chips in my dish. I've become accustomed to paying via tap using my phone that I did not have my card or cash on me. No tap option. $1 surcharge to use a credit or debit card. No Venmo, so I had to Zelle. The card surcharge is quite exorbitant. The most I've seen is $0.75. I ordered my food to go so I was really hoping that the food would save this experience, especially because the women working there seemed lovely. I was hoping to have found a new go to spot for chilaquiles. I was home within minutes and disappointed to see that all the chips were soggy. They may have marinated the chips in the salsa verde. The dish had decent flavor but I did not enjoy soggy chips in the chilaquiles. In addition, there was a slight metallic taste which I assume was from the tin it was stored in. While I wasn't satisfied with the chilaquiles, I would be willing to give this business another chance. Maybe a burrito instead. read more

I have been coming here for over 40 years! Wow! Can you believe that? I will have, on occasion, 80-100 Hollenbeck wet burritos ordered for meetings at my workplace and have them delivered to my office approximately 25 miles away. They arrive in time and delicious and I get lots of compliments. They're huge and full of flavor and the salsa is perfect. Don't forget the tortilla chips! Those offer a great crunch and so fresh too. All their other menu items ate great too but my go to will always be the wet burritos. read more

Little restaurant on the side of the road, very good and the staff are so sweet. The food was delicious and they have a good variety of everything. I got the red chilaquiles with carnitas and it was SPICYYYY a little too spicy for me but I could see other ppl loving it. The chips were also just a bit soggy, but still good. The food here is terrible, don't get fooled by the name, the food tastes nothing like El Tepeyac Cafe in Boyle Heights. The meat and sauce smell like dog food ... i took 2 bites and tossed it in the trash. Beams smell foul cheese was old and the meat was bland. Service is always on point and they will refill chips and salsa to your heart's content. Over easy eggs mean no runny whites and tortilla chips still have a bite despite being immersed in the flavorful sauces. The sprinkling of cotija cheese adds a lovely salty bite, the crema has a cooling effect. The sides are just as satisfying. This was my first time coming to this location and I will definitely be back ! It's a small restaurant in the industrial part of Alhambra very easy to miss it if your not paying attention. For lunch I had an order of the Albondigas soup and my mom had a chile Colorado tostada . We both thought our food was very good . The soup was very satisfying for a cold day , there was 2 large meatballs in it a good amount of vegetables. The meat for chile Colorado was very tender and had good flavor . Not the best but definitely not the worst either. Had an indecisive moment on what to order but ended up going with the wet burrito with quite a generous portion. The asada lacked flavor and so did the green sauce drenched over it which was nowhere near mild. I ended up adding lime and salt for greater taste and did some work. Service is extremely friendly and quick even during the lunch break rush. Had a unexpected incident at moment of paying at the front register when splitting the bill a colleague who was not aware of the check split and we ended up walking out before an employee made it to our attention. Got the impression they believed it was planned which truly is nowhere near the intention specially as my colleagues are regulars here. The chicken is moist & the flavor is good. -Beef Taquito - My favorite. The guacamole was great! -Mexican Rice - not my favorite. It was really dry but I wonder if it's because it was the end of the day (an hour before close) -Refried beans - not bad. -Tortilla Chips - store bought, not fried fresh -Salsa - my least favorite part of the meal. The crispy tacos remind me of the one's from Jalapeno's (in OC). Overall, I loved the tacos and taquitos which are the main dishes so I was pleased. Went here last Saturday with Alicia we stopped in before our movie. I had 2 soft tacos (what NOT a surprise... yes this I know) The chips and Salsa were the BOMB! Salso nice and spicy. Alicia got Enchilada and a taco with beans and rice from the looks of her (Completely empty) plate I would say she enjoyed her's just fine. The Guacamole is not the chunky type more like the odd colored green thinner style not soupy thin just weird consistency... good flavor though. I went here a couple of years ago and didn't like it. Then since Covid, I noticed that they had outdoor seating and decided to give it another try. It had been 2 years so why not? I liked it. It's basic food. Everything I've had has been good. The beef tacos are basic but good. What I like about this place is that the meat seems to be good quality. Which is a big deal to me. I had a chili Colorado burrito a couple days ago and it was solid. The meat was fresh and there was very little fat. The ceviche was good too. Cheese Enchilada, basic, good. Their chips aren't great. And they charge $1 for a small bowl. I don't like that. But in these Covid times I'll give that a pass since I know that restaurants aren't having the easiest of times. I like their hot sauce ( I call it sauce as it is a hot sauce not a Pico de Gallo type) but they need to give more of it as I always have to ask for more. Horchata is good. I'll be trying more dishes in the future but for now, this is a decent option in Alhambra which in my opinion, lacks decent Mexican places. read more

What happened to this place, we were served stale tortilla chips with salsa. Our problems with the entrees, the cocido was bland and I had two raw pieces of squash but the other vegetables in the cocido were cooked properly. Unfortunately the rice on the side was overcooked and the side of pico de gallo tasted like it was refrigerated more than one night or longer, it was not fresh. The Chilli Colorado was smokey and sweet but had no kick. The beans were nice and seasoned well. We told the waitress of the problems, she gave the restaurant excuses. I feel bad for her because it was the cook not the server that failed. I usually don't do comparisons but I recommend that the cook eat at Teresita's on First to taste their soup. It saddens me to give a bad review because we loved this place. Hopefully they will improve in the future or correct themselves. read more

Got a menu and the first thing I thought was they were a little pricy ($10 for an asada burrito).But maybe there food is exceptional or large portions. Neither is true. The food wasn't horrible, just average. Same with portion size. $3 for a coke and $1.50 refills (no free refills. Are they the last place still charging for refills?) $3.50 for a taco and there are no taco Tuesday's or any specials really. I guess they can rely on the employees who work in the industrial area there because they are the only place to get food unless you drive somewhere on your lunch break.
