My friend and I like Spanglish Kitchen, but my hubs is a little indifferent. I think it's decent portion and price and it's close to home, so I really can't complain. I liked the ribeye taco. The cheese and avocado went well together. I got medium rare. It was tender and yummy. Probably my favorite out of tbe tacos. The crispy shrimp taco was plain. I think it was missing the tartar sauce and pico de gallo. The chicken and al pastor was more on the dry side even after adding the salsa. Flan was really firm but still yummy. Wow! What a great dining experience. My family and I happened to be in the area, and, as always, when we are unsure where to stop for food, we use Yelp to help us decide. This little hole-in-the-wall restaurant was a true winner in our book. Located in a small corner lot shared with a liquor store and another business, there is parking for 10-12 vehicles. The restaurant exterior was very clean and well organized, and the menu boards posted on the building were very clear, large, and easy to read. We decided on a chicken burrito, green chile chilaquiles, two Pepsi Zeros, and one horchata. Prices were very reasonable, and portions were large. The food we had was UNBELIEVABLE! The chicken burrito was loaded with chicken, beans, and light rice, and it was delicious! The chilaquiles, served with a side of black beans and Spanish rice, were perfectly prepared and offered a home-cooked taste. Wow! These were DELICIOUS! Slowly, but surely the quality and the service at this establishment has been going down. They have taken some of the better items off the menu or they're never available like they're chicken soup. Today I waited one hour for a burrito that I ordered through DoorDash. The burrito was tiny, cold and they did not include the avocado that I paid for. I would love to continue to support Spanglish as it's a few blocks away from my house, but it's hard when they continue to disappoint me. Pretty good! Expectations were moderate given the location and the appearance of the business. I ordered the bbq chicken plate which came with salad and rice on the side. The salad dressing is phenomenal!!! I love the tartness and the little kick it provided. The salad was super fresh. The rice was good but have had better Spanish rice. The chicken was super juicy which was a huge plus but the bbq sauce was not needed. Maybe a dry rub would have sufficed. The salsas came in mild, medium and death. The green one was my favorite. The death spice has habanero so just be warned, need a super high tolerance or your tastebuds will die. Enjoyed the experience and the outdoor dining was not terrible. No indoor dining space. The outdoor space was next to a busy street but at least the privacy hedges provided a barrier from the traffic to your dining experience. There is a bit of a wait though. I appreciate the intention of having a veggie option for most items and the tacos and breakfast burrito and the horchata cold brew have all been enjoyed multiple times. The potato taco is probably my favorite. Only improvement area is that the vegetarian options at least (I can't speak for the meat sauced items) are all pretty much not seasoned at all so the flavor has to come from adding salsa or seasoning yourself. Marked this place for a long time and finally got to try on a Friday evening! I got four tacos (grilled shrimp, lengua, asada, and pastor). My favorite is probably the lengua, super tender and juicy! The pastor is really good as well with tropical flavors. My least favorite might be the asada - the meat is a bit too chewy for me. They do prepare the food fresh so expect a 15 min wait if you didn't order ahead of time. If you are in a rush, make sure to order ahead! I've been a loyal customer for over 5 years, it's been my go to spot l, a lovely gem. I really enjoy their habanero sauce it's the best! However, for the last few months they've been very inconsistent with the portions and have had a few errors in my order. Each burrito is close to $18 and at times I've found myself with 3 shrimps for $3.00? Extra meat is 2.25, avocado $1.25 and lettuce is .50.. so why am I paying all of these additional charges if I find myself not getting what I paid for? The money isn't the issue, I'm hoping that I get what I pay for. I also understand if it's a one time issue because they're "busy" and they're trying to keep up with the rush, but for the past few months? It's now considered robbery at this point. I ordered two shrimp tacos and had the salsas on top. The shrimp was cooked well and tasted better with the salsas. I was most disappointed with the carne asada fries. The fish taco was really good. The batter was light and crispy, and the fish was fresh. It came on a corn tortilla with cabbage and pico de gallo. The torta was okay. It was a good portion and the bread was soft but the torta was a bit dry and not as flavorful as I was expecting. They give three different salsas -- habanero, red, and green. The habanero one has a good kick to it. Adding salsa to the torta definitely made it better. Overall, giving Spanglish Kitchen a 4/5. Would recommend to anyone looking for Mexican food in the area.
