The hot cocoa came out piping hot was sweet comforting and cozy. The maple bacon donut was literally like a cloud and SO pillowy, fluffy, light, and pretty sweet with yummy sugary maple faves complimented by crispity crunchity savory bacon. MNM. The pastrami burger was HEFTY and came with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, their homemade thousand island sauce, a Smokey charbroiled patty, and savory tender juicy pastrami. I've been going to this place since I was a kid. I've been faithful to the place since I came back to LA over 20 years ago. I always get the same thing a double cheeseburger cut in half and a large chili cheese fry. at times I can complain about little things, but I'm a die hard fan, like a sports team. that said I went with my other local friend, fourth generation South Pasadena, and we took his son and he ordered an avocado burrito which is vegetarian, which isn't very clear on the menu. It's the second time someone's ordered that and not realized it's vegetarian. . When he told me when he sat down that he ordered that I asked him if he wanted to meat in it. he was like yeah I do. The kid is 14. So I went up and paid an extra four dollars maybe five for sausage. They had time to fix it, cause it was right away and they know what was going on even the guys in the back. They know me. . It wasn't crowded at all. There were no customers there. They make a pregnant burrito no crisp on the tortilla. The thing falls apart. There's whole sausage in there. Its not even cut up. Just whole pieces of sausage. It is ridiculous and extremely embarrassing for me. Respectful to me because they know me and to give me a product like that when I come in there once a week is crazy . The kid barely eats it. I have been pretty loyal and not going to any other burger place in town and there's plenty. I wouldn't go to Tops anymore. But I'm sitting here right now getting my chili cheese fries from Tops even though it's almost 2 dollars more. I came the other day had chili cheese fries with somebody else and thought "you know what, they're better here". Its the employees, they are lackadaisical? Lucky Boy is a true Pasadena legend! I have been eating their great food for over 4 decade. From leaving high school during lunch to late night munchies, Lucky Boy has always been a go to spot. Even though the recipes have changed over time due to product change and high prices, they still put in a solid effort to keep their standards high. I am a huge Lucky Boy Chili Cheese Fries fan and it has been many years since I have altered my order.I always get Onion.....Yumm! . Yes, it is a pretty simple dish but they do it well. I always ask for the Fries to be well done so that they hold up and don't get soggy.The Chili has changed a bit but is still flavorful and adds just enough spice. I stopped by Lucky Boy in Pasadena and ordered the steak salad, which came with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and ranch dressing for about $21. I ordered outside, and my food was ready in about five minutes! As soon as I got home, I dug right in and finished the entire salad! The steak was cooked perfectly, and everything tasted fresh. My only recommendation would be to cut the steak into smaller pieces to make it a little easier to eat. Other than that, it was really good! The sausage was whole and juicy, the bacon was crispy and not burnt, the eggs were moist and flavorful, and the tortilla was warmed on the grill. The portions are MASSIVE the burrito can definitely be shared between two people. It ended up being $14 but with it shared between two people that comes out to be $7 per person so very affordable. Friends were telling me go to Lucky Boy in Pasadena and try their burgers and especially their two popular items their breakfast burrito and their famous pastrami. Then I heard pastrami I told my wife let's go Lucky Boy and try their delicious mouth-watering pastrami. We arrive there and step in the restaurant and look at their menu displaying on the screen,we look and found what we looking for the pastrami we order it and side salad and two drinks. The interior of the restaurant is really nice with awards and pictures of Pasadena and pictures of Lucky Boy through the years. Couple minutes later they our number my pickup our meal,I notice the pastrami was pretty big but the aroma was overwhelming smell of pastrami. Unwrapped the pastrami smell fantastic it was cut in half then I give the other half to wife. I took a bite of my half pastrami I say to my wife OMG so much flavors in the pastrami and very juicy. The juices of the pastrami is so good,the meat was lean and have some fat but fat is good it bring flavor to pastrami that make so good. My wife love the pastrami and enjoy it. Anytime hubby and I come to California we always have to go to a hamburger stand. We were in Pasadena so we decided to stop at Lucky Boy. The place was nice and clean. They have a lot of options to choose from. The guy who took our order was nice and funny. Hubby ordered a pastrami Sandwich with cheese, mustard and pickles . I ordered a cheese burger and we split some fries. Hubby pastrami looked so good. I had to take a bite of it and it was so good. The bread was nice and soft and the meat was so tender. My cheese burger was good but needed more spread on the burger. The fries didn't have any salt on them which I found strange. They had the peppers. There is nothing more better than biting that pepper and biting into your food. This is a burger joint with a diverse menu, including one of the biggest breakfast burritos in town. I got my burrito with bacon. The burrito comes with hashbrown style potatoes, eggs and cheese - you get a choice of ham, bacon or sausage for your meat (or have it without meat). The bacon was crispy and remained crispy when I reheated my other half. Not only is the bacon crispy, the burrito has a generous amount of it! Oh and the other plus - the tortilla does not come wet and soggy and remains in perfect condition if you have leftovers. The burrito comes with only one salsa and to be honest, you really do need two for such a big burrito. I'm a green salsa girl but I asked what I should go with and I was recommended the red one (the green one is supposedly spicier). The red salsa did not disappoint other than I needed one more for my whole burrito (there's no kick to this salsa but it's tasty). The burrito itself isn't bursting with flavor on its own and it requires the salsa to compliment the other ingredients. But, who eats a breakfast burrito without salsa? There is ample parking in their parking lot and there's seating both inside and outside. Super yummy! This is a great burger spot. My burger was pretty yummy and I loved the chili cheese fries. My husband got a pastrami sandwich and it was huge. I loved the pastrami way more than the pastrami from The Hat. It has a different and better flavor than other pastrami I have had. It is a bit pricey but I do think these are typical prices now since inflation and everything is just more expensive these days. The menu is vast as it has breakfast & lunch options. I opted for the famous breakfast burrito with bacon & a lemonade. I was not prepared for that burrito. Size is comparable with chipotle. The burrito comes with a side of salsa which was nice. Indoor seating is also available with traditional diner booths. Self serve ketchup, pepper, napkins, & peppers are available as well. The burrito was a 9/10 for me as I felt it needed a bit more seasoning. Overall, a very yummy burrito. The staff were open to questions & very kind. It can be a bit loud as the venue can get packed however the venue has a nice selection of music ranging in genres which was a plus. This morning, I saw a breakfast burrito online and wanted to eat a breakfast burrito, so I made a commitment to come here and drive up through the wavy 110n freeway to get a burrito I haven't had for close to a decade. All for $11.90 in this economy? I feel that pricing is better than practically anywhere in LA for a breakfast burrito nowadays. The service was quick and attentive. Delicious pastrami chili cheese fries here! Some of the best around. It was my first visit here and i saw people on tik tok talking about them so got on the metro and took a trip. You can catch the blue line all the way to the fillmore station and walk one block here if you want to save gas and time driving in traffic. But yes the pastrami with onions they put on this plate is top notch! You can get a large or small. My picture is the small and is enough for one person to eat! Huge (literally) bonus being the size of it, even if they truly didn't have the best breakfast burrito the value is hard to beat compared to any competitors. My husband and I also love their onion rings with their house made ranch, which is what we always order alongside one or two breakfast burritos. One burrito for two people is plenty, but some days we simply love to eat more than we already typically do and can also make two meals out of it if we order one each. The onions are fat and juicy and paired with their ranch--I would (and do!) make the argument that they definitely have the best onion rings. read more

You will be full after you eat one and you'll probably have to skip lunch. - Salsa. Their red sauce is delicious and they give you plenty of it. It's not too spicy at all; just enough heat to spice things up. And it tastes fresh. Cons: - Inconsistent. Sometimes the potatoes inside aren't crisped enough and are a bit undercooked. Bacon is often overcooked and will just about wreck the inside of your mouth. - Cut the sausages please. Instead, they just lazily stuff the uncut links inside and there's an uneven distribution of the meat. You'll need to take 3 or 4 bites to get your first taste of sausage. - A little pricey. Not the best breakfast burrito I've ever had, but definitely solid and filling for sure. read more
