Came in excited to try the food, but unfortunately, the service was extremely disappointing. We were seated right away but waited over 10 minutes without being acknowledged or even offered water. The waitress then served a table that was seated after us while we continued to wait. We even asked the hostess if we could order with her, but still no one came over. At that point, we decided to walk out and go to another restaurant. We understand restaurants get busy, but acknowledging your guests is the bare minimum. We came here to try the Dine LA dinner menu. The greeter was welcoming and quickly seated us at the window seat with a street view, very cozy. We ordered our drinks. I had the sangria and my girlfriend tried the mojito passion. Both drinks are refreshing. For appetizers, I tried the mussels with corn and onions. It's good. For entree, I tried the Lomo Saltado. The sautee beef has onions and tomatoes. The flavor is good and goes well with the rice. Dessert is not included in the Dine LA menu, but we wanted to try a Peruvian ice cream. The Lucum ice cream tastes good, it's buttery and has caramel and maple syrup flavor. It's a special Peruvian fruit. It's a good wrap for our dinner. We visited this restaurant at the beginning of Dine LA for lunch ($35). When we arrived, the door was locked and had to be let in by the staff though there were at least 5 other parties dining there. I thought that was a bit odd, but I guess it was to detract from unwelcomed guests (i.e. homless people)? Anyhow, we were seated right away and sat by the window which was nice! We were given the menus, but I had to specifically ask for the DineLA menu which I also thought was a bit odd since it seemed like they wanted us to order off their regular menu. Perhaps this was just an oversight. For starters, we ordered 1 of each that was offered: Ceviche Carretillero - Refreshing and brought me back to time spent in Peru! I preferred this option Salpicon - This was also refreshing and reminded me of chicken salad mix in a bowl though not sure I would order it without it being a part of a prix fixe. For the main course, we ordered: Saltado Salad - This had minimal protein and was not so satisfying when compared to a traditional lomo saltado, but the protein that was there was yummy. Aji Gallina - I really was excited to see this on their menu since I love this dish so much and don't see it offered too often at Peruvian restaurants. Though the sauce was good, the chicken was VERY dry and hard to chew (overcooked) so it took a while to finish this. In lieu of desserts, they offered Maracuya (passion fruit) and Chicha Morada (purple corn) juices which were yummy but the star of the show was their sangria which was delicious especially on a hot day. My only complaint about the sangria was that we were charged for 3 carafes when we only got 2. Once we identified this, we brought it up and just went ahead and enjoyed the 3rd one since we had already settled the bill. That being said, always double check your receipt! read more

As an update to my review, the manager messaged me and told me that the "peanuts" were "cancha serrana", a crunchy corn snack from Peru. I appreciate the management for reaching out. However, I asked the server if they were peanuts and they said YES!!! Of course I listened to the server, who would obviously know more about the dish than me. There could've been a miscommunication issue there, but either way it could've been explained either on the menu or verbally when we expressed our allergy concerns that we did not need to worry. First time eating at a Peruvian restaurant and oh my goodness I loved it! We called a few hours before for a reservation for 8 people on a Saturday night at 7:30pm and they had a spot for us. I believe they have seating in the back for larger parties! The portions are huge and I would recommend sharing if you're not so much of a heavy eater. We got the Milanesa de pollo which was bomb paired with the pesto pasta! Service was great, the servers knew their menu and ingredients so well. Great Peruvian food! We came here to celebrate a birthday and they did a great job accommodating a large group! We ordered sangrias for the table and they were amazing!! The waiter was very attentive and continued to check in and ensured that everyone in the group was well served! We ordered various dishes including the lomo saltado and genuinely you can't go wrong w any of the plates. They are large portions, I believe you can share one plate between two people. First time here and planning on returning. The food is authentic but you have to be patient, it is truly cooked to order. The ambience is casual but a good drink like the pisco sour makes the wait go by easy. Had the lomo saltado, a staple of any Peruvian restaurant- loved the tender beef and veggies were fresh complimenting the dish. I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant over the weekend with my mother and sister. From the moment we walked in, everything was exceptional. The customer service was warm and welcoming, the restaurant was clean and well maintained, and the ambiance created the perfect dining experience. I came with my friends on a Thursday night and got seated immediately. We were all craving lomo saltado - it was generously portioned and tender. We also got the yuca fries with the yellow creamy sauce which was our favorite. The food here was genuinely delicious, bold flavors, well-prepared dishes, and overall a great dining experience from a culinary standpoint. Service was also good. Our server was attentive, kind, and did his best to make sure we were taken care of throughout the night. That said, this isn't the best spot for a larger group or a special occasion. We were celebrating my parents' 47th anniversary, and while we didn't mind being seated about 20 minutes late, the seating itself was disappointing. We were placed in a back room with dim lighting and long, shared tables that made it difficult to get in and out, especially if you were seated in the middle. The space felt cramped, poorly ventilated, and appeared to double as a storage area, which took away from the celebratory feel. They also ran out of Coke before 8pm, which was a bit surprising. Overall, the food and service really carried the experience, which is why I'm still giving 4 stars. I'd absolutely come back for a date or a small group (4 or fewer), but I wouldn't recommend it for a memorable celebration or larger party. read more

We had dinner at Bodegón No. 69 with a group of four friends, and everyone left extremely pleased. The food was excellent, but what really stood out was the exceptional service and genuine patience of our waitress. One of our friends received an important business call just as we were getting ready to order. Rather than rushing us, our waitress was incredibly understanding and gave him the time he needed to finish his call. She came back several times to check on us, keeping us informed that our food would be coming shortly and even apologizing for the delay. There was absolutely no need for her to apologize. We were enjoying ourselves, catching up with old friends, and actually appreciated having the extra time to relax and talk. When the food arrived, it was excellent across the board. We ordered the Arroz con Pollo, Classic Beef Milanesa with fries, Bistec Encebollado, and Tallarín Saltado de Camarones. Everything was flavorful, well prepared, and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone at the table. What makes a restaurant memorable isn't just good food--it's when the staff makes you feel welcome, respected, and never rushed. Our waitress did exactly that. Our server forgot us, but luckily a young lady came by to help us out. We got our pitcher of Sangria and ended up waiting another 15-20 minutes for our server. I honestly don't know why I believed all the glowing Yelp reviews. I take reviews seriously--if I give a business five stars, it's because they genuinely earned them. After our experience, I really don't understand how this restaurant is still in business. The service was terrible. Our waitress seemed inexperienced and completely inattentive. She brought our appetizer and never came back to take our entrée order. We eventually had to flag her down. She brought us water but never offered anything else to drink, never explained the menu, never recommended any dishes, and rarely checked on us. In the 2 1/2 hours we were there, I think we saw her maybe three times. The ceviche was especially disappointing. I was expecting a traditional Peruvian ceviche, but instead it came with an orange creamy sauce that completely took away from what I expected from the dish. Then my friend was brought an entrée he didn't even order. While they remade his meal, I ended up eating mine alone. By the time his correct food arrived, the evening had already been spoiled. Unfortunately, the food itself wasn't good enough to make up for any of it. I don't go out simply to eat--I can eat at home. I go out for the entire experience: good food, good service, and an enjoyable evening. This experience was lousy from beginning to end and nowhere near what the five-star reviews led me to expect. With every new Peruvian restaurant that I go to, I just have to try their Lomo Saltado since that's my barometer for Peruvian cuisines, and Bodegon No 69 very much delivers! The Lomo Saltado is a classic, must-try staple in Peruvian cuisine. Cooked in a wok with soy sauce (there is a lot of Chinese influence in Peruvian cuisine due to the historical Silver trade between China and Spain within Peru), the best kinds of Lomo Saltado is bursting with flavor. The Beef here is thick and hearty, and the sauce is so delicious. The fries are also nice and crisp, too. There's a reason it's one of my favorite dishes and Bodegon serves it well! To be fair, Bodegon is a bit pricier than majority of Peruvian restaurants that I've gone to, but it also offers a few items I have not seen elsewhere. Most notably, the Anticuchos or beef heart skewers. Heart is one of those meat choices that can be polarizing because of its tougher chewy texture (it is a muscle after all), but this Anticuchos grilled meat is just tender enough and the flavor is so good, especially with their Rocoto Sauce and Patata Brava (Peruvian-style fries potatoes). Only the corn feels forgettable. It's an adventurous dish that is rewarding to your taste buds! On the other hand, the Tiradito a La Crema Ceviches is a bit underwhelming. It's thin-sliced Hamachi and the mild Aji Amarillo sauce is just a bit polite and mild-mannered. Maybe the other Ceviches are better here. Lastly, you can't really have Peruvian cuisine without the proper Peruvian drinks, and I highly suggest the Inka Cola and if you fancy an alcoholic drink, the delicious Pisco Sour,which is the national cocktail consisting of pisco (grape brandy), lime juice, syrup, and egg white, with bitter sprinkled up top. It may be similar to a margarita, but it is just so much tastier! All in all, Bodegon No 69 has some delicious, albeit pricier, but delicious Peruvian cuisine. Just skip the Traditional Ceviches. The staff is wonderful and so friendly and the interior is very cozy and warm. read more

The food was really good and the interior is very cozy!! I heard this is one of the best Peruvian places so I had to give it a try, and I recommend everyone to try it out! Service was quick and everyone was really kind. I haven't had much Peruvian food in my life so I don't have a baseline to compare to, but the reason why I initially gave 4 stars (before now changing to 5, see below) is because I felt that I was missing something from the food. There wasn't a wow factor, and sometimes I felt that the dishes came with some "fluff" of other ingredients, particularly with the ceviche where the corn nuts gave a nice crunch but felt just thrown in to enlarge the dish. Also the giant corn appetizer I got was good and the queso fresco was really fresh, but lacked a depth of flavor and did not seem worth $12. I'd definitely recommend this place to try though at least once!! **To revise this review, I was told recently by Chef Sandra that the giant corn (choclo) and corn nuts (cancha) are imported directly from Peru for authentic flavor, hence the higher prices. I highly respect that and personally just think the food wasn't amazing for me (tho will just have to get more dishes next time) but I KNOW for certain that most people would really enjoy it! I have visited Peru and had amazing authentic cuisine, so my expectations were high for this restaurant. The service was excellent with our server constantly checking on us and refiling water without us needing to ask. We were recommended the Ceviche Especial which brought a mixture of seafood in a citrus broth. It was delicious and by far the best thing I tried that day. The papas a la huacaina was bland and it left me feeling disappointed. The main dish was arroz con pollo and I was not expecting to get chopped up chicken bits with mostly rice. Desert was a delicious chocolate cake with a vanilla ice cream scoop. The esthetics of the place were pleasing, and the service was top notch, but I don't know about the food. I had the papa huancaina. The potatoes were super tender. The ají/cheese sauce was rich and luscious. I enjoyed it very much. My only issue was the sauce had a bitter after taste I couldn't get used to. I'm not sure what made ot bitter and I've never experienced that in other places where I've had papas a la huancaina (even in Peru). Yeah! I wanted to give 5 stars if it weren't for that odd aftertaste. Oh! And the restroom was shocking!! I went to use it before leaving and one stall was out of order with a black trash bag over the toilet and it looked like someone ripped a hole in the bad to use the toilet anyway bc there was visible feces in it. The other stall was awful with a an extra large period pad that was saturated with blood wrapped in a ball (with the bloody part on the outside) perched on the small shelf by the toilet. I know staff can't control what people leave behind. The toilet itself was dirty and used. The floors were dirty. Needless to say the restroom was unusable and basically a petri dish. I left and let the bartender know. It seemed obvious the restrooms are not closely tended to. read more

We came on a Sunday evening and were able to be seated immediately. Food: 1. Choclo Serrano - Saw the giant corn and really wanted to try it. Corn was well cooked. I didn't realize that it's not the sweet type of corn but has the corn flavor like in corn tortillas. Flavor was delicious with a strong buttery, garlicky flavor that paired well with the cheese. For the price, did not think this dish was worth it as it was just corn and cheese. 2. Ceviche B69 - Very delicious! It was a nice combo of many different forms of seafood and some crispy fried calamari. The sauce was the perfect combo of savory and sour that complimented everything nicely. The dish comes with corn and pine nuts and some slices of yam. I felt that the portion was kinda small and the garnishes were nothing special for the price. 3. Chancho al Palo - Came highly recommended since they usually sell out of this dish and is apparently very hard to find in LA. Presentation is stunning. The meat has a very crunchy and salty-flavorful skin paired with the perfect amount of fat and meat. Perhaps it is just because I don't like fatty meat but eating on the lean portions, I felt that the meat was dry and lacked flavor. I didn't get the saltiness and smokiness like I got from the skin. The plantains were really delicious though - loved the char paired with the soft interior. Again, for the price, I just felt like there wasn't a lot to the dish and I was not wowed. 4. Lomo Saltado - This is what I genuinely came for and it delivered. The meat was super juicy and perfectly seasoned. The way it is cut is nice so that it is easy to eat. The fries came perfectly crispy and added nice texture to the dish. If you can handle spicy food, make sure to eat with the green sauce they provide since it adds a nice complimentary flavor of spiciness and freshness from the cilantro and lime. We got a few dishes to share while I tried out a few on my own. Jalea Mixta - This was a wild seafood dish but it was delicious. Had so many different components to it and you get a little of everything. Good to share for a party of 4. (5/5) Lomo Saltado - I've had many lomo saltados and this one rates up there. It's good, and not overly salty or overbearing. I enjoyed it. (4.5/5) Cau cau - This one is rated mostly because I overall don't like tripe. Got a few bites of it and the flavors are good but personally it was a bit gamey. It's a good dish if you enjoy tripe but make sure you know that it's honeycomb tripe. (3/5) Overall, this place is pretty pricey but it's located in old town Pasadena. Food is good but you'll be spending ~$30-$40 per person. Good food, and great vibes! I've been eating here for a while and have generally been happy with the food and service. However, I had to lower my rating after a recent catering order experience that was disappointing. This was my second time ordering catering from them. The food was good, but the service was especially frustrating. I spent over 30 minutes on the phone, in both English and Spanish, trying to process payment, which lead to nowhere till I had to drive myself to the restaurant to swipe the card manually. When it was time to pick up the order, the restaurant could not spare anyone to help bring the food to our car, despite it being a large catering order and the pickup taking place on a very busy avenue. What was most disappointing was the lack of concern or willingness to offer any assistance. The food arrived late for our event as a result. While the food was good, the poor service has made me reconsider ordering catering from them again, returning as often, and recommending them to others. It's a shame because I genuinely enjoy the food, but there are other options available.
