Found this place on TikTok and decided to give it a try. We ordered a total of four dishes, and everything had a lot of depth and flavor. The service was good too. The Pad Thai had a nice balance of sweet and salty. We added shrimp as our protein for an extra $5, which came with four shrimp, total $24. The crispy wonton chips were good, pretty hard to mess those up. We also got two orders of rice at $4 each, and the chili clams were also really flavorful. The pricing is definitely on the higher end. We did order the Crying Tiger Short Rib, which was one of the more expensive dishes and contributed to the bill, but I think part of the premium also comes from the location and ambiance. After tax and tip, bill close to $150. There are comparable Thai restaurants in the area

Been loving this place. Came for lunch for the first time with my sister. The mango sticky rice slushy is phenomenal, as well as the pad Thai. love the pink accents to decor and the care that goes into each dish! The service is good, but they do get busy and it was hard to get their attention towards the end. Happy to support this new business, and hope they are here for years to come.

A new Thai spot in Pasadena! This place is a little more in the fancy, night out category so expect slightly smaller portions and higher prices. We arrived at 6:30pm on a Friday night right before the dinner rush! By 7, the line was LONG, so recommend arriving earlier and making a reservation! Even thought it was slightly pricy, everything tasted so good! We ordered the chicken wontons, pad see ew with grilled chicken and the Goong Ob Woonsen Sam-Yan. All were phenomenal! We were bummed they were sold out of the exploding fish balls, so we can opted for the chicken wonton. The pad see ew had a lot of "wok hay" and the grilled chicken thigh was done to perfection. It's on the sweeter side! The woonsen is a simple vermicelli dish with shrimp and mushrooms that was also delicious (a dish that's a less standard Thai ), just a smidge on the smaller side. The green spicy sauce was a great addition. We also really enjoyed the mango sticky rice slushy, had such a nice rice aftertaste! Also on the sweeter side but pairs well with the food! Shoutout to the servers for excellent service to despite how busy it was. He was running around bringing food, filling waters and checking on all the tables!

What I Ordered: Street Side Mango Salad ($18) Pad See Ew with Pork Jowl ($24) Midnight Train Fried Rice ($23) Chocolate Matcha Lava ($15) Food: The Street-side Mango Salad was light, refreshing, and packed with texture. I loved the crunch from the peanuts and the sweet-tangy dressing that tied everything together. The Pad See Ew noodles were soft and chewy with a slightly caramelized soy flavor, and the Chinese broccoli added just enough freshness to balance the dish. I absolutely loved the pork jowl, tender and soft while adding an added layer of flavor to the dish. The Midnight Train Fried Rice had a great smoky wok flavor, and the Thai sweet pork sausage added a subtle sweetness that made it stand out from other fried rice dishes I've had. For dessert, we shared the Chocolate Matcha Lava. The warm molten chocolate paired surprisingly well with the earthy matcha center, and the fresh strawberries helped keep the dessert from feeling too rich. I was surprised at how the passionfruit ice cream blended well together with the flavors of matcha and chocolate. It was one of those combinations that shouldn't work but did work. Staff: All of the staff members were friendly! They were very knowledgeable about each of the menu items. I loved that they took the time to explain some of the menu items and where they got each idea from. Ambiance: Indoor seating only. Parking consists of street parking and parking garages around downtown Pasadena. You do have to pay for parking most of the time!

Loud and crowded seating, you'll most likely be very close to someone else. The bar seats are very hard. Lunch specials prices are decent $17 for main, side, soup. Plus $3 Thai tea. Thai ice tea is heavy tea/bitter flavor and thick, looks like it does come from a mix they pour from a large pre-made container so taste will be inconsistent. Thai Basil with veggies and mushrooms - flavor was good but the veggies were hard and undercooked, so I wouldn't recommend it. Also mild was pretty spicy

Had a great weekday evening at Thaim with a friend- the space was airy, bright, colorful, and vibrant. Note that this spot is in Old Town Pasadena, so you can find street parking or go for one of the lots. We ordered the pork pad kra pow and the tofu pad see ew which were both wonderfully balanced and flavorful. The staff were also friendly and attentive. I know the spot is in Old Town Pasadena, and the restaurant has a different focus than a typical Thai spot (ie fun drinks and a different market audience) so prices are higher than a typical Thai restaurant. However, the portions could've been a bit more generous, since each entree essentially starts around $19. I also noted that you have to pay upwards of $2 for certain meats (not even specialty ones like seafood or pork belly) which I was surprised by. Nonetheless, this is a great spot and I'd return. Next time I'll try one of the fun drinks.

I visited Thaim in Pasadena for my birthday lunch on a Thursday. The restaurant is bright, clean, and has a cute, welcoming atmosphere. I especially loved the Thai alphabet displayed as part of the décor--it was such a thoughtful touch that made the space feel even more authentic and inviting. They also offer a great lunch special, have a nice wine list, and even provide counter seating for solo diners, which I always appreciate. It was busy during the lunch rush, and you could tell our server was doing her best, but service was unfortunately a bit slow. We also ordered a dish that was supposed to come with an egg, but it was missing. We didn't realize it until we got home, so it didn't seem worth going back over a $2 item. Still, it was a small oversight that reflected the overall service experience that day. The menu is on the smaller side, but the food was enjoyable, and I'd still recommend giving it a try if you're in the Pasadena area. They're still fairly new, so I'd give them some grace as they work through the growing pains.

My colleagues and I went to this recently-opened Thai restaurant in Pasadena. The restaurant itself is not big, but we went on a weekday for dinner, it's easy to find a table. The interior design is very cute and the place looks clean. They don't have a big menu but they have all the staple Thai dishes you need to try. We ordered Bangkok Basil Bowl, Som Tum Thai, Pad See Ew, Goong Ob Woonsen Sam-Yan and Bangkok Pad Thai Boran. They are all very good, flavourful and in nice presentation! The price may be a little bit higher than in San Gabriel Valley, but is comparatively not bad in Pasadena area. They also have good service!

Me, my hubby and our friends were walking around OLD TOWN PASADENA one night when we stumbled across THAIM. We wanted to try their food so badly because we ALL love THAI STREET FOOD but, at that time they were not open yet so today my hubby was in the area and decided to ORDER for PICK UP... FISH BALLS: 10/10 Delicious!!! If you are a fish ball or fish cake fan you will love this APPETIZER!!! The fish balls are so nice and bouncy!!! The green chile sauce that comes with it is so HEAVENLY!!! I wish I could buy a whole JAR of the sauce!!!! KRAPOW BOWL (ground pork): 9/10 The Krapow flavor was delicious!!! We also added a Thai style fried egg. It came with pickled cauliflowers and fish sauce. My husband doesn't like string beans and they were able to customize it for him... PAD THAI (FRIED TOFU): 7/10 I love the fried tofu very much! They are very generous with the portion. The only thing I would recommend is to separate the fried tofu and leave the box open so it will not get soggy sitting on top of the noodles. I have to be honest and say I could not taste the PAD THAI sauce in the noodles. There was no flavor in the noodles. I don't mean to hurt the chef's feelings and I apologize if I did. I hope my honest comments will help them improve this dish because we LOVE PAD THAI... SERVICE: 10/10 Excellent and very friendly service! The owner is very kind, humble and welcoming!!! AMBIANCE: 10/10 Very bright, modern and vibrant restaurant. I can see it clearly from a mile away!! Let's show our support for this delicious THAI RESTAURANT with a very PASSIONATE and CARING owner and hardworking staff... I wish them a lot of SUCCESS and I can't wait to come back to try more dishes!!!! SAWADEE CA THAIM!!!!!!

Basil bowl, wings, & vegan Pad Thai
    Melinda Q.

My husband and I have been here a total of three times now, and it's been great for most of it except for a couple of hiccups. For example, staff should be highly-trained on what ingredients are vegan-friendly because adding chicharron to a Pad Thai does not make it vegan. Hopefully they will be able to work out these kinks as they progress. We love that they can make most of their menu items vegan-friendly for my husband while keeping the menu simple and authentically Thai at the same time. The place is nicely decorated with a pink theme running throughout and it's a great place for a casual sit-down lunch or dinner meal. My goal is to try everthing on the menu and decide what are my favorites for repeat visits. So far, my favorites have been the Basil Bowl with ground pork and fried egg; the larb blended mushroom; the fried chicken wings; and the mango sticky rice slushy. Hopefully they will be able to put Thai boat noodles and mango sticky rice dessert on their menu one day.

I have been wanting to try this place out since they opened. Now that I did I can give you my honest review. Thaim is a cute little spot in Pasadena with limited seating. The staff is kind and they are very attentive. My only grievance was that some of the main items took forever. We went in on a Friday night around 8 pm. I went with my family, my husband and kids. We started off with the fried chicken wings and mango sticky rice slushy. Everything was good and we were off to a good start. Then my salad came out. I wanted to wait for the kids to get their food before I started eating but they ordered pad Thai and pad see ew. After I was done with my meal- about 20 mins later their food came out. The staff was apologetic and I get that they're a newer establishment and it will take time. However, if you're not in a rush then this place is perfect. The food is definitely delicious. I may wait to come back though.

Our first time at Thaim, The hostess was very nice & she was very hardworking. Miguel was very nice, efficient and polite. Had great recommendations on the menu. Our food was fresh, and delicious.

I love the vibe of the restaurant. It's beautifully decorated and designed. The food amazing!!!100/100. I am not the type to like huge portions of food. I love to be able to order a little bit of everything and that's what we did on our first time here portion was PERFECT we will be back for the rest of the dishes on the menu. I've never had wine with Thai food but let me tell you that Redwood wine with that short rib was fire! The owner was super nice and friendly. Food made with love you can taste. P.s For all the unpleasant reviews yall need to stay home and eat your own food . If you don't have anything nice to say keep it to yourselves and go elsewhere. Don't try and ruin it for others behind a screen. This business is someone's livelihood. Anyway I literally came back the next day and brought my best friend cause this place is too good to not share. This will be my new local spot. Thank you Kate for sharing your wonderful meals. Me and my family appreciate your hospitality.

Ordered for takeout and it was ready right on time when I arrived. The packaging was nicely done…read moreand the staff handing the food was friendly. We ordered: + Cream cheese wontons - the wonton was fried light but crispy, and filling was plentiful. A little pricey without having any imitation crab or green onion in there. (5 for $10.95). + Tom Kah Soup - this tasted pretty good but not like other tom kah soups I've had? The opacity of the soup was a little more transparent. Veggies included tomato, mushrooms, broccoli, and cabbage. + Kang Kiew Wan (Green Curry) - with chicken. First bites were excellent but as you ate on, it was on a saltier side so make sure to have rice on hand. Ordering here, rice is an add on but we cooked some at home so was all good. Besides the wontons, the price to portions of the other items were very good. We ordered through doordash and the price was consistent as what was on their menu too.

Hands down one of my favorite local take out joints. The food here is fantastic! Loaded with lots…read moreof flavor and zapp! I can't recommend this place enough. Here are my families favorites: Yellow chicken curry (mild) Spicy wings (they have a sweet chili glaze ) Pad Thai combination (with a lil extra sauce) Rad Na noodles (gravy is tasty!) Chicken Satay (ooh that peanut sauce is ) Papaya salad (brings a nice freshness and crunch!) Mango sticky rice (light coconut flavor and light sweetness, so good!) Even for a sit down restaurant, the ambiance is nice here too. Just small inside, so not ideal for large parties. The staff is very friendly too!

Open on July 4th! That alone deserves 5 stars, just kidding! Seriously, the food is truly…read moreoutstanding -- spicy flat rice noodle with beef (pad kee mao) is not overcooked like some other places ("Thai Central" in Thai Town) and has the familiar texture and 'wok air' of the Cantonese beef chow fun. The traditional pad thai is also excellent. But our favorite is the Thai curry bowl (comes with white rice)....it's the curry dish for people who don't like curry...it's that good! The satay chicken skewers are a perfect appetizer.

Smaller place than look in the picture. We got there in time with a biggest table near the entrance…read morethat 2 guests were able to leave in a minute. We've 5 people which fit well for that table of 6. Food portions are little small for that price. Taste was not bad but nothing that had made me remember. Only thing was Pad Thai noodles were pretty good & chewy in texture so not too bad. The chicken skewers were not much flavor & dry. Dishes were a bit oily. It's pricy for their portion & probably not returning for that & flavors weren't kicking. DID I MENTION ADDING BEEF (chicken is free) TOPPING TO CURRY ORDER IS +$3 & SEAFOOD I think was $8! Another thing was unhappy with them is CHARGING 20% MANDATORY TIPS! So be careful & read before you pay! We came because of Moom 48 closed today/Monday! They've better price, normal to bigger portions of food, haven't tried their lunch special yet & much bigger restaurant than here.
