We ordered many different things: the grilled isan sausage, the morning glory, the papaya salad, the pad thai with fried tofu, their kor moo yang and a side of sticky rice. Everything was so fresh and flavorful! I feel like Thaim has their own unique flavor, emphasizing the freshness by pairing fresh greens with the majority of their dishes. The freshness really enhances the flavor of each dish. My favorites were the kor moo yang and the pad Thai with fried tofu. The kor moo yang was so tender you can cut it in half with a fork. The fried tofu in the pad Thai was amazing and so light and crispy. I would skip on the mango sticky rice slushy. I couldn't really taste the mango sticky rice but it was refreshing nevertheless. Service was excellent! Our server kept checking on us and the dishes came out quickly! The restaurant is a bit small so it can get packed quickly but its interior is decorated so nicely and has a nice aesthetic! We really enjoyed our recent experience at Thaim. The interior decor is really cute, and the menu features some familiar favs as well as some more unique dishes I wasn't accustomed to. Unfortunately they were out of the Mango Sticky Rice beer my husband wanted to try, so we'll have to go back to try it another time. The Pad See Ew was the best I've ever had. So rich, but with a true depth of flavor. Not just cloyingly sweet like some others can be. We also really enjoyed the koor moo yang. The fatty pork with the spicy dipping sauce and fresh herbs? Yum, yes please. Our server, a Hispanic man, was very friendly and attentive, but admittedly we could tell he didn't know Thai cuisine enough to give us any more information about the dishes than what is already written on the menu. I think there was also a bit of a language barrier? We ordered the ground pork basil bowl for $19 + $2 for riceberry brown rice and Goong ob woonsen sam aka glass noodles slowcooked in a pot with ginger, garlic, shrimp for $26--we ordered the wrong item because we thought we were ordering whatever our neighbor had...but nope. Then we each ordered a smoothie: thai tea and mango sticky rice for $10 each. The smoothies were decent~tasted like they should. The goong ob woonsen was quite salty. We weren't sure if it was the green sauce they paired ours with so we tried it without and it was still a bit too much. The basil bowl was tasty with an egg added and a spicy kick with a level 1 spice but unfortunately, the flavor was a bit too sweet for my liking. Found this place on TikTok and decided to give it a try. We ordered a total of four dishes, and everything had a lot of depth and flavor. The service was good too. The Pad Thai had a nice balance of sweet and salty. We added shrimp as our protein for an extra $5, which came with four shrimp, total $24. The crispy wonton chips were good, pretty hard to mess those up. We also got two orders of rice at $4 each, and the chili clams were also really flavorful. The pricing is definitely on the higher end. We did order the Crying Tiger Short Rib, which was one of the more expensive dishes and contributed to the bill, but I think part of the premium also comes from the location and ambiance. We arrived at 6:30pm on a Friday night right before the dinner rush! By 7, the line was LONG, so recommend arriving earlier and making a reservation! Even thought it was slightly pricy, everything tasted so good! We ordered the chicken wontons, pad see ew with grilled chicken and the Goong Ob Woonsen Sam-Yan. All were phenomenal! We were bummed they were sold out of the exploding fish balls, so we can opted for the chicken wonton. The pad see ew had a lot of "wok hay" and the grilled chicken thigh was done to perfection. It's on the sweeter side! The woonsen is a simple vermicelli dish with shrimp and mushrooms that was also delicious (a dish that's a less standard Thai ), just a smidge on the smaller side. Note that this spot is in Old Town Pasadena, so you can find street parking or go for one of the lots. I know the spot is in Old Town Pasadena, and the restaurant has a different focus than a typical Thai spot (ie fun drinks and a different market audience) so prices are higher than a typical Thai restaurant. However, the portions could've been a bit more generous, since each entree essentially starts around $19. I also noted that you have to pay upwards of $2 for certain meats (not even specialty ones like seafood or pork belly) which I was surprised by. Nonetheless, this is a great spot and I'd return. I especially loved the Thai alphabet displayed as part of the décor--it was such a thoughtful touch that made the space feel even more authentic and inviting. They also offer a great lunch special, have a nice wine list, and even provide counter seating for solo diners, which I always appreciate. It was busy during the lunch rush, and you could tell our server was doing her best, but service was unfortunately a bit slow. We also ordered a dish that was supposed to come with an egg, but it was missing. We didn't realize it until we got home, so it didn't seem worth going back over a $2 item. Still, it was a small oversight that reflected the overall service experience that day. The menu is on the smaller side, but the food was enjoyable, and I'd still recommend giving it a try if you're in the Pasadena area. The interior design is very cute and the place looks clean. They don't have a big menu but they have all the staple Thai dishes you need to try. My husband and I have been here a total of three times now, and it's been great for most of it except for a couple of hiccups. For example, staff should be highly-trained on what ingredients are vegan-friendly because adding chicharron to a Pad Thai does not make it vegan. Hopefully they will be able to work out these kinks as they progress. We love that they can make most of their menu items vegan-friendly for my husband while keeping the menu simple and authentically Thai at the same time. The place is nicely decorated with a pink theme running throughout and it's a great place for a casual sit-down lunch or dinner meal. My goal is to try everthing on the menu and decide what are my favorites for repeat visits. So far, my favorites have been the Basil Bowl with ground pork and fried egg; the larb blended mushroom; the fried chicken wings; and the mango sticky rice slushy. The staff is kind and they are very attentive. My only grievance was that some of the main items took forever. We went in on a Friday night around 8 pm. I went with my family, my husband and kids. We started off with the fried chicken wings and mango sticky rice slushy. Everything was good and we were off to a good start. Then my salad came out. I wanted to wait for the kids to get their food before I started eating but they ordered pad Thai and pad see ew. After I was done with my meal- about 20 mins later their food came out. The staff was apologetic and I get that they're a newer establishment and it will take time. However, if you're not in a rush then this place is perfect. The food is definitely delicious. I ordered crying tiger ($48) and after trying it I was very disappointed. The beef was tough, dry, and bitter because it was very burnt. In my opinion, it was not worth $48. We ordered the Basil Bowl with salmon, Pad Thai with shrimp, Crispy Chicken Wontons, and the Mango Sticky Rice Slushie. The Pad Thai was good, but the Basil Bowl needed more salmon for the amount of rice served. The wontons were crispy and tasty, though I wish they had more filling. The slushie was too tart and didn't really taste like a mango sticky rice dessert. It needed more sweetness and more of the coconut foam mentioned on the menu. We also ordered the Midnight Fried Rice, but our server forgot to send it to the kitchen, so we ended up canceling it. I am giving this place five stars based solely on the taste and quality of the food. It is legit some excellent tasting food. We hade the basil bowl/plate with marinated chicken and the pad Thai with salmon and the fried egg tofu (add on). Both meals were full of flavor and satisfied the eyes and well as the taste buds. The flavors of the food was everything you want from a Thai spot, but the stand out was the fried egg tofu and the cook on the salmon. The salmon was served in chunks and it was super juicy: top notch cookery. The egg tofu was delightfully crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside--it was maybe my favorite thing on our table. The ambiance is very open and friendly and the service was equally friendly, quick, and attentive--it was not that busy when we were there, so not sure how it would be during busier hours. Our main gripes would be that the pad Thai was something we asked to be spicy, and it had little to no spice whatsoever, but the basil bowl/plate delivered on the spice. And the portion sizes left you wanting more, that is if you're used to larger portions. We also got the mango slushy drink, it was delicious, but very small for the price. This brings me to the prices. I know it is Pasadena and I am sure the rent is high, but the prices did not match the serving sizes at all. They have a lot of upsell options that pad the bill, but not your appetite. We definitely left hungry, but extremely satisfied with the flavors, service, and ambiance. Thaim is definitely worth your time, but if you're a glutton like me be ready to order a second meal and bring some cash, they gotta cover that Pasadena rent, people. Parking in the area is absolutely miserable unless you park in a garage. Also, the bathroom was really clean. My husband and I spent a beautiful afternoon having lunch at Thaim. This new Thai restaurant is an excellent addition to the Pasadena food scene and serves delicious street food. I have to start my review by saying how absolutely wonderful the service is here. All of the staff are genuinely so kind and warm and just truly go above and beyond to take care of you during your visit. The overall environment is also super cozy and inviting. The food Thaim is serving is spectacular. We ordered a Thai tea slushy, Pad thai with fried tofu and Pad see ew with marinated chicken. We were blown away by everything we had. Both dishes stood out from the usual versions we typically get. The Pad thai was balanced and flavorful with a fresh tanginess, and the fried tofu added great texture and flavor without being too heavy or greasy. The Pad see ew had excellent smoky wok char, and the marinated chicken was tender, well-seasoned, and noticeably more flavorful than typical. These dishes were different in the best ways. I saw criticism that portions are small here, which I would agree that comparatively the portions are smaller than some other places, but the quality of ingredients is truly impressive here. I personally think smaller portions for quality is worth it. The Thai tea slushy was also very delicious. It was thicker than expected, almost like a milk shake, but it was very enjoyable. Thaim is inventive and authentic! This restaurant pulls out all the stops to deliver a delicious meal and a pleasant dining experience. Every meal was delicious and made with intention! The server also was incredible and not only did a thorough job explaining meal items but handled a busy restaurant on what seemed like his own! The meals had some kick to them, yet they were still so enjoyable. Bringing kids to a restaurant can be hit or miss but we were grateful they had yummy food and yet also enjoyed comfortable seating and a fun experience. Can't wait to come back! read more

Service was fast and the dishes were very flavorful. The sous vide short rib was really nice and tender and the egg tofu (mommy old style) was perfectly cooked! I also appreciated that adding mushroom and veg was a generous portion of okra, cauliflower, mushrooms, and onions. read more

Finally got to try this viral Thai spot. So let's see if they're pretty good eh or ew. I got their black pink drink, mango sticky rice slushy, corn salad, short rib salad, egg tofu pad Thai, and ground pork basil bowl to try. The mango sticky rice slushy was topped with a not too sweet light coconut foam and shavings. The drinks tasted pretty similar and were both bright, lemonadey, and refreshing. Surprisingly tho the black pink one tasted a bit more mangoy. The corn salad had a salted egg, juicy sweet cherry tomatoes and corn with some green beans, nutty crunchy peanuts, and was very garlicy with some fish saucy notes. The short rib salad came with some tender yummy 24 hour sous vide short rib that even had a nice crisp sear, fresh leafy greens, and crunchy juicy cucumbers cherry tomatoes and onions. It was tangy a bit spicy and sweet. The egg tofu pad Thai had some jiggly silky fried egg tofus, crunchy chicharron, fresh bean sprouts, and some perfectly springy sweet lightly tangy and savory pad Thai noodles. I got the ground pork basil bowl with brown rice and it was super flavorful, savory, comforting and just pure deliciousity. It can get a bit pricey but Vibes are super aesthetic and cute, food is solid, and service and people here are so nice. So Overall this place is still pretty good.
