This restaurant was in my SGV passport so we had to try it out. The interior is very welcoming and has beautiful wall coverings. We ordered the Veggie Noodles, Spicy "Mouthwatering" Tofu, and a Diet Coke. The dishes had unique flavors and they were both delicious and enough food to satisfy our hunger.
Woon is a casual restaurant with cute and vibey decor. You order at the counter and your food will come out piping hot when ready. The menu is small yet mighty and although we only tried 2 dishes, they definitely left me satisfied and wanting to come back. Beef Noodles: Perfectly chewy and packed with flank steak, bok choy and mushrooms. We split this but I loved it so much I could have enjoyed a bowl all to myself. Pork Belly Over Rice: The braised pork belly was tender and full of flavor. The tang from the mustard greens and house-pickled carrots balanced the richness of the pork and once you mix it all together with the rice it all came together beautifully.

Very filling though and the beef was cooked perfectly! They also didn't skimp on it. The chicken wings were my favorite of the two. Would absolutely recommend. I definitely have to come back to try their other dishes.
This time we are inside! Order at counter first then you can be seated. We had a local gift card that they accepted. Food came quickly and great for sharing. We liked the pork belly rice quite flavorful. The beef noodles were a bit small and for one person. Parking gets crowded but there is another lot shared across the street.
Delish! This became a restaurant that we have to eat at when we visit LA. You order at the counter and then have a seat, and everyone working was nice! The restaurant itself is very cute with all kinds of art, decor, and lighting! I love natural lighting. There is a perfect variety of beers/drinks that will complement whatever food you pair them with. I believe we got a cider of some sort and a Lucky Cat White Ale. For food, we got Veggie Noodles, Pork Belly Over Rice, and Pork Belly Bao. Looking back, I wish we didn't get two pork belly dishes, but they were yummy! Those Veggie Noodles though... those are y-u-m-m-y! Will definitely need to come back for more.
Where's 6 Stars??? My SFV Passport brought me to try Woon (Cantonese translation means bowl) i got beef noodles for free $16. Was there during happy hour so got $2 off chicken wings and can taiwan beer for $3 bucks. Two of us ate and when file saud we'd take leftover home....but we couldn't stop eating. Noodles had nice tender beef pieces small greens and bouncy thick noodles with that wok flavor. Wings were 5 spice and crispy skin we had to dip into the table hot sauces. oil chili crisp and other is a vinegary tasting sauce. The restaurant aesthetic was making me feel like i was in China i had to peek in on the restrooms -which had cool art. I wanna go back and repeat this meal.
I came to Woon in Pasadena for a solo dinner date. Parked across the street and walked on over to the restaurant. Very quaint and airy interior space. Love the beautiful wall decor. Got in line, placed my order, got a number, sat at an open table, and waited for my food. Staff was cordial and helpful with their recommendations. Thank you Miss! Food came out timely. First time coming here to try them out and to use our 626 Passport book! The beef noodle was definitely the highlight. It was flavorful, the right balance of spices, and the portion was plentiful! We also tried the green onion pancake (not pictured) because it was so good with the accompanying sauce that we went through it so quick before I could take a picture! Crispy texture but soft and a little chewy on the inside. The gai lan (Chinese broccoli) was a good portion, nicely salted and provided a good balance to the meal. We loved the presentation and fireworks worth flavor from the pork belly bao. All of the pickled vegetables along with the sauce and the savory pork belly were a great blend. Only thing is, it falls apart easily and is very messy to eat The service is quick, food is out without too long of a wait. The staff are all very attentive and helpful, especially with recommendations. Inside the dining room, it's very nicely decorated and spacious. Definitely will return when in the area!
Woon fell completely short of expectations. I really wanted to like it, especially since my group was looking forward to trying their brunch menu, but apparently they discontinued it about a month ago. Their lunch menu isn't too extensive, but features a few Chinese "inspired" dishes like cold sesame noodles, pork belly bao, scallion pancakes, and five spice chicken wings. I say "inspired" in quotation marks because although the dishes look familiar, the flavors just don't suit the typical Asian palate. I ordered the beef noodles (stir-fried, NOT soup!) and for $18 after tax, the portion was laughable. It came in a bowl that was significantly smaller than the other dishes. On top of that, it was incredibly salty with barely any beef or veggies. The only redeeming quality was the texture of the noodles, which were nice and chewy. Everyone at my table who ordered the noodles agreed that they were way too salty. I also tried one of the five spice wings, which had a nice crunch but not much flavor. Lastly, one friend ordered the matcha latte and said it wasn't good at all. The vibe and concept are interesting. It definitely feels trendy inside, very much like some place you'd find in Silverlake. You order at the register before getting seated, and they bring the food out to you. But there's something a little jarring about serving Asian food catered to American palates at Pasadena prices, alongside cheap plastic cups meant to mimic the ones you'd find at traditional Chinese restaurants. The whole thing feels a bit confusing and gimmicky, and unfortunately, the food just doesn't live up to the ratings.

The noodles were flavored really well and very very chewy. The five spice wings were also perfectly crunchy and tasty. The decor interior and open seating ambiance is nice. They also sell their own branded merchandise such as hot sauce.
I finally tried Woon in Pasadena and ordered a few of their breakfast items: Beancurd Congee This was my favorite of the three. The congee was comforting and super flavorful, and I would definitely order this again. Breakfast Tofu Sandwich This one was just okay for me. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't my favorite and probably wouldn't be my first choice next time. Milk Tea French Toast The milk tea flavor was interesting, but it was a little too sweet for me. I personally prefer my French toast deep-fried, so this wasn't quite my style. The restaurant has a nice, modern Chinese-inspired decor and a clean, stylish atmosphere. You order and pay at the cashier first, then the food is brought to your table. There is a parking lot in the back, which is convenient, but it fills up pretty quickly. Street parking is another option if the lot is full. Overall, I enjoyed trying Woon, especially the beancurd congee. I'd come back for that, but the other two dishes didn't really stand out for me.
Decided to give this spot a try after seeing so many folks raving about it on Tik Tok! As someone who grew up in a Chinese household and had many authentic Chinese dishes before, this place did not particularly impress me. I would describe it as a glorified Panda Express. My honest thoughts on everything I tried: Green Onion Pancake- Crispy exterior with a soft doughy center. Not overly salty! Really enjoyed this as a side dish, but the vinegar sauce it came with.... did not go well with it at all. Maybe I just wasn't used to it since it doesn't traditionally come with that type of dipping sauce. Not the best green onion pancake I've had, but still solid! 8/10 Cucumbers & Tofu- Very refreshing cucumber! I liked how they used hard tofu. Very unique blend of textures and with tart and spicy flavors. However, doesn't stand out to me. 7/10 Beef Noodles- for the price, the portion was extremely small. Noodles were chewy and thick, which I liked. Beef slices were not as tender as I wanted it to be. However, I did like how they paired it with baby bok choy. It was decent, but did it blow my mind? Absolutely not. 7/10 You order at the cashier and seat yourself with a table number card. Interior was spacious and open. Lots of indoor seating. Water is self serve. Parking available in rear or on the street. Overall, underwhelming in my humble opinion.
Cute counter service style eatery in Pasadena! The branding feels very intentional to mimic traditional Chinese restaurants with a modern twist, from the lazy susan table to the white and blue porcelain looking bowls. We came in on a Thursday evening and there were few parties inside. There is a small lot on the side that is shared with several other businesses that was almost full when I arrived, so I imagine parking may be difficult on business days. The worker told me that the beef noodles are their most popular dish by a landslide, so we decided to order that alongside the pork belly over rice and wood ear mushroom salad. The beef noodles were chewy, flavorful, and the chili oil at each table brought the dish to another level. The pork belly was tender and balanced out well by the veggies. The wood ear mushroom, though smaller than I expected for the cost ($8), cut through the heavy dishes well and had a nice crunch.

Stopped by this popular Chinese restaurant and tried a few different dishes, including the beef noodles, pork belly over rice, and chicken wings. Overall, the food was decent, but I wouldn't say it was particularly authentic. The prices were also a little higher than I expected given the portion sizes and overall quality. The pork belly over rice was definitely my favorite. Pork belly is always so satisfying, and I liked that they served it in large, substantial chunks rather than tiny pieces. The meat had a nice rich flavor, although I wish it had been cooked a little longer to make it more tender. It also could have used more sauce or marinade to really soak into the meat and rice. The chicken wings were really crispy and had a nice crunch, but the seasoning was pretty mild. I wish they had more spice or came with an accompanying dipping sauce since they were a little bland on their own. The beef noodles were my least favorite. They weren't necessarily bad, but they didn't stand out and the portion was pretty small. Honestly, they reminded me of the beef lo mein you could get at Panda Express or any fast casual Chinese restaurant. There was barely any beef mixed in, and the noodles had a very strong smoky flavor that was almost overpowering. They were also pretty dry and could have used more sauce. Overall, the food was decent, but nothing particularly memorable. Between the lack of authenticity, smaller portions, and relatively high prices, I think there are better options for Chinese food elsewhere. read more
Great experience overall and so glad I finally made it to WOON. First impression: beautiful interior, modern, fun. Great logo on everything, including merch that you can take home - from sauces and spices to chopsticks and clothing. The food: ordered several dishes to get a good feel. The salads, especially the wood ear mushroom, were amazing. Light, fresh and refreshing. The scallion pancake was hands down, the best I have ever had. Very crispy and light. The chicken wings were crunchy and delicious. And the beef in the beef noodle dish was meltingly tender and the noodles, nice and chewy. Plenty to take home which I gave to my friend. Dreaming about those dishes everyday since. Menu is concise. Service is unassumingly friendly. Prices are fair. Can't wait to go back. read more

I ordered delivery so this is strictly based on the food and not the service or actual location. I got the beef noodles and order of the scallion pancakes as those got the most reviews and appeared to be the most popular dishes. I also love a good beef noodle dish and scallion pancakes. I had high hopes and boy was I disappointed. The portion is about the most mediocre I've ever seen. The beef noodle dish was $18 and what I got was basically a side dish. Like 6 slices of beef and 1 small bunch of bok choy. The char was pretty good but holy smokes did I feel ripped off. The scallion pancake was prob even worse because not only was it a ripoff at $10 for like 6 small pieces (prob made up 1 whole pancake), it was bland and oily. No scallion flavor at all. I have major regrets to the point where I'm actually mad which doesn't happen often. I would never purchase from here again. I get costs are high especially for food but I felt like I was robbed. I am more than willing to pay for quality but there also has to be some element of worth. And absolutely not worth it. read more

I came here after seeing a review of this place on instagram. I ordered a scallion pancake, pork belly rice, and a noodle dish. The orders came pretty fast after I sat down. The scallion pancakes were light crispy on the outside and dough chewy on the inside. The vinegar sauce gave a nice punch of flavor to the pancake. The pork belly rice was also pretty delicious. At first, I thought the flavor was a bit lacking until I realized I didn't mix in the sauce well enough. The addition of the veggies gave a good crunch break in between bites of pork belly and rice. I did wish that the cucumbers were more pickled though. The noodle dish was too springy and chewy for my liking. The flavors were strong but my mouth was tired after going through half the bowl. The meat was more tender and easier to chew than the noodles. Overall, I would put this place in between a 3 and a 4 star but I'll round it up to a 4. The pork belly rice is good enough for me to come back to. At first, I thought the prices were pretty expensive until I was rounding out my meal. I could split the pork belly rice with my wife as a light lunch and still be full. I'll be back for other stuff on the menu too. read more
We ate here on a Thursday night for dinner and the restaurant had enough seating and wasn't too busy. You walk in and order at the front and then sit at a table and they bring the food out to you. The restaurant is nicely decorated with bright colors and detailed wallpaper. We ordered the pork rice bowl, scallion pancakes, and beef noodles to share between two of us. The standout dish by far was the beef noodles. The flavor was amazing and the noodles were cooked perfectly. I probably would opt to try something different from the pancakes and rice bowl in the future. Overall a very pleasant experience and I would come back again for those noodles! read more

Finally got to stop by for dinner the other day!! We shared the beef noodles, wings, and pork belly bao. Everything was flavorful and delicious! I think the noodles could be easily shared amongst 2 people. Wings were crispy perfection too. And pork belly bao was soft and tender with a nice contrast from the veggies. Not gonna lie, I could have eaten a lot more. They were very kid friendly with high chairs, crayons and coloring pages. Employees were sweet and accommodating. You come in and order them find a seat. I cannot wait to come back for brunch. Ohhh also they have happy hour! See my attached photo! read more

Let's start with this... Woon as a restaurant in it of itself; concept-wise? interesting and cultured. In practice? Falling short is an understatement. There are so many serve staff walking around everywhere but it seems that not one is capable of doing any kind of hospitable serving unless specifically directed or asked to. It's a bit disheartening to be sat and have the feel of a sit down restaurant but in reality Woon is much closer to an overly complicated food court setting. Let's get to the main point: The OVERLY salty food 1. Cold Sesame Noodles wow... if i could give something a 0 this would be in the negatives. the noodles and most likely the sauce seems like it was prepped days before and just left in the fridge waiting to be served; the noodles were hard and undercooked and the sauce had a no aromatic flavor that typically comes with sesame noodles. It seemed to me that the only fresh ingredients that came in this bowl of noodles were the cilantro and carrots used as garnish. 2. Scallion Pancakes I thought it'd be difficult for a place that markets itself as a classic take on Chinese/ Taiwanese food to ruin a classic Chinese staple; but Woon did. they add some sort of coating? onto their scallion pancakes in order to deep fry them but it ends up being an overly salty, overly oily dish that is not even close to what most would consider a dish you could order and eat at nearly any Taiwanese/Chinese restaurant. 3. Chicken Wings (Woon's Only Saving Grace) Great chicken wings; batter is light but crisp and flavorful. The sauce is sweet tangy and spicy and overall quite a balanced flavor that most anyone would be able to enjoy. Comes with 7 wings and are all flats. 4. Mapo Tofu Noodles Well it's nothing to write home about; there was no issues with this dish but it just overall is an uninspired recipe. The flavors are underwhelming and is just a dish to me that is there to not offend anyone. Any college student could make this and it'd taste about the same... 5. String Beans Somehow a simple string bean dish that is a staple for Taiwanese/Chinese restaurants can still be messed up. The major point of error is that the string bean Woon uses isn't even the right one. Woon uses a western string bean rather than traditional Asian string bean and it resulted in an overall undercooked and underflavored string bean dish. For the price of the menu; one would expect that the quality and taste would match up, but in Woon's case basically every dish fell short of their high prices. Would not recommend going here especially since there's plenty of better food you could easily find and eat at basically anywhere in the 626 area. The only major selling point for some people would be the nicely decorated interior but come on... the food should at least be somewhat edible for the exorbitant pricing. read more
My friend and I went for dinner last night! Food: Chicken wings- I loved the flavor and crispiness. Didn't feel too greasy either. Chinese broccoli- too salty/ not refreshing. I would skip. Fried beef noodles- good texture of noodles, flavor, portion is just kind of small. We also got the royal milk tea ice cream. I liked the ice cream itself but the topping (meringue) crumbles didn't really work well together and made it too sweet? Service was okay, not super above and beyond but friendly and fast enough. Loved the ambiance though, very casual yet intimate and a lot of seats. Mostly self service. read more

Finally made it out to Woon Pasadena for brunch! Stopped by with a friend on a Sunday - there was a bit of a line to order but we were able to be seated right away. You order and pay at the front, then get seated. I love the decor and ambiance as well! The items we tried: - Mama Fong's five spice chicken wings - these were definitely the standout for me - they came out piping hot, super fresh, and perfectly seasoned and garlicky - Cold sesame noodles (we added chicken) - chewy and thick noodles with a delicious marinated tofu, pickled cucumber, and a flavorful seasoning and sesame sauce! Such a yummy and satisfying comfort dish - Milk tea French toast - with milk bread, black tea custard, and black tea maple syrup. Loved the custard part - just a heads up it is a large portion size and comes with 2 slices. We honestly wish there was the option to just get one slice since we were so full by the end of our meal! Location/Parking: Major cross streets are E. Washington Blvd and N. Hill Ave.. Parking can be found on both of the streets (Washington or Hill Ave) Ambiance/Decor: Ambiance is pretty cool with modern furnishings. Order Of Operation: 1) Order/pay first and a staffer will seat you. 2) Once you get seated, a staffer will come to offer you water. 3) A staffer will come to you with your food. Service: Service was alright. The girl behind was friendly and quite informational about the shop. Food came out at a decent time. Food Of Choice: I had their popular item on their menu. It was their beef noodle ($16). It was quite salty and oily. The item had more noodles than the beef. Before ordering, I asked if they're able to make it with less salt and oil. The staffer behind the register said the noodles are already premixed. Woon For Thought: Might be the last time I patronize the shop, but I would suggest other yelpers to at least try their food to make their judgement about the place. read more
Woon is such a cute Chinese inspired restaurant. Private Parking located near the place. Very causal ambiance open seating. You order first and look for a table after. The menu is complete with a good variety. Perfect dish sizes for a party of two to share. We ordered the cucumber salad, which was average no big flavors but refreshing. My favorite dish was the scallion pancakes, it was crunchy and the dipping sauce was on the citrus side so it was a nice balance of flavors. Mama's five spice wings is a must try. Beef noodles was a small dish and a little on the salty side. Would come back to try other dishes especially for brunch! read more

Made the visit on a Saturday morning for the weekend brunch. Wait in line to order and then they'll assist finding an open seat for you. All the staff were really friendly, and it's a casual vibe where you can get your own water, but the staff still goes around to make sure you have what you need. What we ordered: + Five spice chicken wings - all flat which I love! Definitely tasted the spices and a nice crunch but I wish there was a sauce to pair. + Cold noodles - knife cut like noodles with a nice chew. The peanut sauce was really good and their tableside chili oil brought it all together. + Wood Ear Mushroom & Bean Curd Stick Salad - would personally not order again, but good for sharing if you'd like a veggie + Milk toast French toast - delicious! The slight outer crust and the spread drizzle on top was so tasty. Black tea maple syrup was not overly sweet and you can try On the day we visited they had a coffee pop-up which was fun to try. For the Loop Espresso Coffee Pop Up, I got the Lapsang Souchong Cream Top, which had tomodachi caramel, tropic cold brew, lapsang souchong cream top and lemon zest -- a very in depth drink and it tasty yummy! read more

Walked in on a casual Sunday evening for dinner. You place your order at the kiosk, take a number, and find a seat. I was pleasantly surprised by the Beef Noodles, they were better than I expected. I do wish they put more Beef though. I guess you got to save money when you're running a restaurant. My qualm with Woon is with regard to the price. $17 for this small bowl of noodles is beyond justifiable. I would not pay more than $14 for what I received. I found that all of their other plates were small and grossly overpriced. If you visit Woon, be prepared to pay a pretty penny for food that is slightly better than Joy in Highland Park. read more

I've been to Woon in Westlake but had to check out the Pasadena location, and it did not miss! Came on a Tuesday night and it was surprisingly crowded - guess that's a sign of how good the food is! Plenty of tables though. You order at the counter first, then grab your own seat once you're through. My go-to at Woon is always the wood ear mushroom & bean curd stick salad - the mushrooms have this great slick, gelatinous bite that plays off the firmer, layered texture of the bean curd stick, all tossed in a soy-vinegar dressing with sesame oil and scallions. So refreshing on a hot day. Never tried the Mama Fong's five spice chicken wings before but omg, crunchy skin with a savory, well-seasoned bite all the way through - immediately added to my must-order list. Pork belly over rice was simple but solid, the pork so tender it practically melts, balanced out by tangy mustard greens and pickled carrots and cucumbers. Pork belly bao is always my favorite though, that same melt-in-your-mouth pork tucked into a soft steamed bun - never skipping that one. Overall, I always have a pleasant experience at either of the two locations! read more
This is my first time seeing that Woon had a second location. I was nearby this one and decided to check it out. I came here on a Sunday afternoon and there was plenty of parking in a parking lot (compared to the street parking from the other location!). I ordered my go-to beef noodle. I was a little disappointed in the thickness of the noodles, they were a bit thinner than I remember them being from the original location (and compared to photos I've seen other people take of them. The service was superior and the staff were super attentive and nice. In addition, they were very friendly and personable. The restaurant itself is very clean and open. The restrooms were well-maintained too which was nice. I would love to come back, I hope they have the thick noodles next time! read more

We had a larger group so I made a reservation in advance via email. The team at Woon was so easy to work with - thank you to Sean for setting up an excellent brunch. Honestly everything we ordered was delicious. It is hard to pinpoint a favorite dish because everything was so good! I recommend coming in a group so that you can try all the dishes. We've been to the Woon location in Filipinotown, but we've never had the brunch before. There are some dishes that overlap with dinner - like the Charred Gai Lan and the cold salads, but there are a lot of dishes that are exclusively served at brunch lil the Milk Tea French Toast and the Pork Floss Congee. Met a friend of mine in Pasadena for Saturday brunch at Woon. Both of us had been anxious to experience this location, and it was worth it. Noon at Woon on a Saturday will make you Swoon with culinary delight...if you are lucky enough to score a table and don't mind a little more noise than usual. You order ahead at the counter and keep your fingers crossed that you are able to score a table. Luckily, we were able to secure a two-top table with a bench and chair, among four or five tables with the silver "RESERVED" signs. Woon does not take reservations, but apparently you can call in ahead to secure your spot. This family-owned restaurant is quite welcoming. Light, bright, lots of colorful art and decorations, with an above average noise level at this fast-paced Chinese spot in a busy part of Altadena's restaurant row. We decided to share a few of Woon's brunch offerings: "Bacon N' Eggs" Fried Rice (vgo): House smoke pork belly, Napa Cabbage, Scrambled Egg, topped with Chili Oil Fried Egg and Chinese Chives. This dish was five star. The pork belly is incredible, seasoned to perfection with a hint of spice. The rice, cabbage and egg all balance out the heat. Perfect to share or indulge alone. Cold Sesame Noodles (v): Homestyle Chewy Noodles, Marinated Tofu, Pickled Cucumber, Sea Moss Seasoning Togarashi and Herbs. This dish was only average for my taste. The noodles were fresh and tasty but the tofu lacked a lot of flavor and wasn't memorable enough to try again. Not sure if it works as a cold dish for my liking. Bolo Bao w/ Black Tea Cream: A delicious pastry! The right amount of crispy outer crunch with freshly baked interior, almost biscuit-like. The black tea cream is spot on, reminding me of an English scone and cream. Although, this version of cream is less fluffy and more liquified, and not as plentiful inside to offset the ratio of bread to cream. A bit more cream would have made the pastry five star. Woon Milk Tea (v): House-made Milk Tea made with Bamboo Temple Black Tea, mixed with Oat Milk and Sugar. This is a fantastic drink. Full of color, flavor, foam and presented in social media-worthy fashion. Quite delicious and vegan-friendly, although I wish there was a little less ice cubes. Overall, my experience at Woon was quite solid. Not enough to quite push me to a five-star rating, but I would return to try other options on the menu aside from the Brunch offerings. The space is great, but can be quite noisy, especially on weekends with lots of families and strollers. The bathrooms are also well-kept and clean. Parking adjacent to the building or across the street at the pharmacy. Check out both locations (Pasadena and Historic Filipinotown) but know that only Pasadena serves up the Weekend Brunch Menu (Noon to 2pm). read more

The interior is very cute and hip, they also have a small section where they are selling merchandise like cups, tea, and sauces. We really liked the congee and fried rice, I would love to come back and try the dinner menu.
