Pancakes

They were attentive and seated us right away. Use the back door to enter the restaurant and grab street parking. The hashbrowns and bacon were a bit too greasy for my taste and the sausage was okay. The banana bread was very chewy and thick, The pancakes were fluffy and fine. Overall a good experience with our server and the food tasted homemade.

What We Ordered: -Banana Bread $3.89 -Farmer's Breakfast $16.29 -Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs $15.49 -Coffee $3.49 I read online about their famous Banana Bread. As soon as, we were seated and given menus. I asked for a slice of Banana Bread. My mouth was watering in anticipation of trying the Banana Bread. My Mother wasn't much of a cook, but she did make a decent Banana Bread, but I gotta say, The Reyn makes a better one than her. My go-to diner order has always been a Chicken Fried Steak unless they're known for something specific. The Chicken Fried Steak was nice and tender, but it was a bit of small portion. It came with a side of toast or Banana Bread. The only answer is to order the Banana Bread over an order of toast. The home fries with the onions were great! As previously mentioned, the banana bread was out of this world! You must try it! My wife ordered the Farmer's Breakfast which came with two eggs, hash browns, two strips of bacon, two sausage links and two pancakes. The pancakes were nice and fluffy and a good size. The staff did a great job with refilling waters and topping up the coffee. That was very attentive on their part! I probably wouldn't order the Chicken Fried Steak again, but I would for sure order the home fries with onions and that delicious Banana Bread. The wife said, she'd order the Farmer's Breakfast as she especially loved the crispy hash brown. We'll definitely be back to The Reyn again soon! Looking forward to trying other delicious dishes.

What do you think k this looks like, cheese fries... no its an order of huevos rancheros, what a presentation!!
Dulce C.

The sauce of the huevos rancheros, lack of flavor, add some spices. The presentation really sucks, how about the potatoes on the side, it just looks like a mountain of sauce and cheese. I asked for a jalapeño and was charged $0.29, come on guys!! Ot at least offer a good side salsa, not the bottle type. Coffee almost $4.00 , Starbucks is better and for $3.15... really!! The service is good, the server is very attentive. Definitely you can do better, going next door and trying their mexican food. First and las here

Fun decorations!

We came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning around 9 am. The place is BUSY! We had our name added to the waitlist; they said about 20 minutes, but 10 minutes later asked us if counter seating was okay. Of course; I enjoy seeing how restaurants function. Excellent service, delicious food and a great place to enjoy a nice breakfast. Think diner vibes with some delicious banana bread as a not to miss option. My husband and I ordered a Chicken fried steak and corned beef and hash. Both meals were very good. It's worth the wait.

Love my country fried steaks. Great diner in Pasadena. Great fast service and tasty food.

I had breakfast twice here last weekend. How have I not tried this place before?! The food here is fantastic! Everything is cooked perfectly, the service is fast and nice, ambience is adorable. I highly recommend their banana bread. The portions are generous and the price is reasonable, especially compared to other options in the area.

if my rating was on food alone, The Reyn would be 5/5. 3/5 rating is for dirty table upon sitting down, flies in the restaurant, the bathroom has a window open which can see directly outside (or vice versa, so people can see you in there) & cheesy decor. Private lot parking, gets busy but you can find a spot. Some street parking too. Service was quick - coffee was a little steep at $3.50. Banana bread is yummy! Food is greasy and delicious. Classic diner feel. It's a bit loud in here but that's just part of the vibe.

Second time here and I had forgotten how good it is! It will not be my last. It is an old school diner feeling, and although it is a bit small, the staff do a great job at serving and keeping people moving. Super friendly and the food was delicious. I got the chilaquiles and they were fresh, and the sauce had a bit of a kick to it, but in a good way! Can't wait to be back.

What is the purpose of the wait list when a third of the tables were empty?

When we went there was no wait list

Do they have WiFi?

I don't think so! They have very quick turn arounds, so they don't want customers stick around for too long.

Can you do a large to go breakfast order for 30-40 people?

I want to see menu?

Just good coffee shop food. Nice place to hangout or meet friends.

Do you do to go orders?

Yes they do!

We LOVE Pie N Burger! Why didn't we discover this sooner?…read more We have been frequent visitors of the Pasadena area when we visit F&F, but it's feeling like a second home. Pie N Burger has always been one of the places on my list. When we were taking a walk, I purposely took a detour here. It's a no-frills diner spot that has been around since 1963 - it is what it is. **This is a cash only restaurant. They have an on-site ATM that will charge you fees. I recommend getting cash at your bank ATM before stopping by. We were trying to divvy up what we could order with what we had on us until we discovered the ATM. We ordered shareables, so we started with an one of the egg breakfasts combos, and added a side of pancakes and a lemon merengue pie to go. What stood out is the jams/preserves were house made, as well as their salsa. The salsa has a kick but it is good. I couldn't say anything bad about what we ate because it was SO good. I am craving on going back for the preserves and pancakes. I know we'll have to go back for the burgers for out next visit. We sat at the counter but our waitress was above average/excellent service. It's so nice to be somewhere so welcoming and local.

We're honored to be a gathering place for our community and a destination for those seeking an authentic taste of classic American dining. Whether you are a regular local or a first-time visitor, we are happy to serve you. Pasadena is heralded as the birthplace of the cheeseburger, and we honor that tradition with utmost pride. Many of our recipes date back to 1963, when the restaurant first opened. We remain committed to preserving the quality and essence of the traditions that have been passed down through generations. We look forward to your next visit and sharing our special sauce with you! Credit Cards: They're not accepted, but they do have a atm inside the shop. Price Point: Kinda pricey, but the quality of the food is good. Restrooms: Restrooms are available for usage. Just be mindful that there are no handles or knobs for hot and cold water. Under the sink, there are dual knee pedals that operate the hot and cold water. Location/Parking: Major cross streets are Lake and California. Parking can be found in the shared parking with Loli Farms. You can also parking along California. Ambiance/Decor: Classic American diner feel. Sprinkled with some antique equipment (milkshake maker and cash register to name a few) that still part of their daily operations. Service: Service was great. All the staffers that we interacted with were friendly, attentive (Catherine asked if we wanted to half the burger and milkshake), knowledgeable about the shop and offered great suggestions. Food came out at a decent time. Food Of Choice: 1) Hamburger ($14.50): 1/4 prime beef served with lettuce, pickles, onions (we got the onions grilled), tomato, American cheese, and our homemade 1000 Island dressing. Burger was tasty and the ingredients were quite fresh. Hamburger is kinda pricey, but the quality shows. 2) Hand dipped Milkshake: Very good. They use Thrifty ice cream! We got vanilla ice cream with chocolate. 3) Peach Pie (Slice): Pie was great. You can tell that it's homemade. It is a tad sweet though. Treat yourself once in a while. :) Pie and Burger For Thought: Wouldn't mind coming back to try more pies.

We ordered the Mac and cheese, tomato Creole soup, catfish poboy, blt, and pastrami Reuben. Then we got a peace of derby pie. Here are my thoughts. Mac and cheese: great! Super flavorful and cheesey Tomato Creole soup: so flavorful and delicious. Very comforting Catfish poboy: the fish was too bland, I think it had been frozen because I really missed out on that dirt catfish taste. Got the sweet potato fries with it which were amazing. Blt: loved the addition of bell pepper Pastrami Reuben: loved the rye bread and really good, even if a little dry Derby pie: no notes I LOVED it Want to come back some time to try the dinner menu. They were pretty busy at 8:00 a.m. on a Saturday but did not wait for a seat. Ordered the $17 burrito and was expecting something to be handheld but they do it ranchera style with red sauce and cheese topped all around it and on the sides and I'm glad they did because it was delicious. Well worth it; I eat burritos half this size for the same price in downtown LA. Ordered a side of hash browns they were solid as well. Only gripe would be that there wasn't much bacon or sausage in it (comes with both but needs more of both.) Melaniya served me proper. This was a great start we'll definitely be back to try the waffles always a gamble finding a crisp one, but they claim it so we will find out soon enough. It's a bit stuffy inside and loud as hell strange for a diner to be this loud but just saying. Still for what I ate it's an easy table pounder five star. That's a sign of a great restaurant. When we went in, the servers were welcoming and it was packed on a Friday morning. We waited a few minutes before getting to our table and our server Gabby was the sweetest. She suggested the omelette (I forgot what specific type) and I'm so glad I took her suggestion. My food was awesome, a lot better than I was expecting. At first, I thought my portion was a little small, but I couldn't even finish my plate! The food is filling, flavorful, and everything was perfect. The positive ambience is a reflection of the quality service, food, and overall perspective of this restaurant. I thought it was so beautiful to see a bunch of elderly people coming for a morning mimosa, having coffee, reading, newspapers, and just mingling with each other. It gave me something to look forward to when I get older. I got a little sad when I seen a few elderly people alone. But when I realized maybe they go to Shakers because this is where their community is, I really felt the love. Go check it out, see what I'm talking about. I promise you won't regret it.

So far, I've tried their coffee. It's not exactly the cheapest coffee out there but at least it's cheaper than Starbucks. Yesterday for lunch, I also got the turkey and cheese pita sandwich (priced decently) which was pretty good. For dinner I got a Chinese Chicken Sandwhich which was okay....but I would only eat it again if i was in need desperately for fiber. Today, I started off with the same coffee routine, but for lunch I got their Italian combo which was lasagna with salad and garlic bread stick. WOW. That lasagna was super dry. It was one of those frozen lasagna that you can buy at Costco...but even if I were to make it it would come out better. The food wasn't even kept in a steamer, but a tin foil tray so it was cold and dry. BLEH. The salad was okay, but they piled it on with ranch dressing :( And the bread stick. my GOSH! The roof of my mouth is still trying to recover from the flavorless dry plank of carbs that I was given. All that for ~$7. RIPPPPP OFFFFFFF. There is still the Chinese selection and the grill that I have yet to try. Chinese doesn't look too promising...for sure worse than Panda Express right across the street. The grill though looks good considering they actually make it for you on the spot. They also have a fried popcorn chicken and french fries you can grab and go. It looks good, but I have mainly 2 issues with it 1) It costs ~$6.50 and 2) it's WRAPPED IN SARAN WRAP IN A STYROFOAM TRAY SITTING UNDER THE HEAT TRYING TO KEEP IT WARM!!! uh...HELLO?!?! Isn't that just WAITING for cancer to happen with MELTING PLASTIC?!?!?!?! YIKES! For the sake of being on campus, it's 2 stars. They also keep the place pretty clean.
