I came here on a Wednesday afternoon for lunch with my partner. Our server was extremely friendly and helpful when it came to guiding us through the menu, which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to expectations. I ordered the fish and chips, and honestly, they were some of the worst I've had. The fish itself was not seasoned, and the beer batter was soggy and overwhelmingly tasted like beer--as if they were relying on it to provide all the flavor. Instead of enhancing the dish, it completely overpowered it. I also tried the Wagyu burger, and it seemed like the char on the patty was meant to be the main source of flavor. The fries were okay--nothing particularly memorable. I even tried eating the fish without the batter, hoping it would improve the taste, but it still fell flat. For the price, I expected much more in terms of flavor. Visually, the dishes looked great and were very appetizing, but the taste just didn't match. The restaurant itself is beautiful--the lighting is low, the ambiance is nice, and the music is pleasant. However, I came for the food, and for me, that's the most important part. The food I got was the lox avocado toast. The toast was crunchy NOT soggy, scottish salmon was not fishy at all, and the blend of seasonings, micro greens, and garnishing blended all the flavors wonderfully. I also got their vanilla iced latte with oatmilk. The coffee was okay, probably not their specialty. It was a bit watered down and there wasn't a strong coffee flavor. The service was great. I made reservations the day before and they were very accommodating when I needed to change the time. Came here in a very wet midmorning for brunch after a 5K. Got seated right away and the server was very nice because we had to wait a while for our whole party to get there. We never felt rushed or like we were a bother though. Got coffees. $7.50 a pop but they tasted fine. Starbucks would probably be better but you got a nice big cup. For lunch, my kids each had a pancake order. They were large and fluffy and I thought tasted pretty good. They come with fresh fruit, but the fruit was a little tinny. My husband got the prime rib sandwich. The bread is super crispy like rough on your mouth crispy, but in a good way. The meat was cold and he wanted it to be hot, but it was also pink which I like to see. The au jus tasted fair, but also it was not hot. The french fries were delicious. I got the garden wrap. It has a red beet Hummus, which I was very dubious about because I hate beet. But I was able to get a sample and it was unbelievable. Beautiful vibrant, color and super garlic. It didn't taste like beef and I love the texture. The wrap itself had arugula and allegedly avocado, red onion, and bell pepper. I mostly just found arugula and the hummus. Size wise it was fine, but could've used some more actual veggies. The onion rings were super crispy and delicious. I wish I had gotten a few more, but it was a sub for salad without an up charge so I won't complain too much. If you like onion rings at The Hat you will like these. My other friend got the lox avocado toast. The salmon was nice and the toast was good but the avocado it itself was underwhelming. There's no real accoutrement and the layer of avocado was pretty thin. It also looks like avocado you get premade in the packages at the store. Overall, the vibe was really cute and there were enough decent things to say it was fine. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to go again because it was pretty pricey, but it was OK. The hash browns were out of this world! The hash browns were tasty, although I ate them kinda cold, as I was waiting for our waiter to bring the pepper shaker. The toast was great, went well with my cafecito. The husb enjoyed his Bloody Mary. We ate the hash browns and scrambled eggs cold! We asked our waiter for pepper and hot sauce. He never brought them to us, I had to get them from another table! Me, me, me, again, I'm not a waiter! We did not see our waiter for over 20 minutes! He was nice and courteous. I get it, he probably got overwhelmed, but we just wanted simple condiments! He did apologize for the mishap. Well, we sat outside, nice day for outdoor seating. Love love love! I came here after a crazy night out in the pasadena party scene. I heard they had brunch so I decided to take a whirl, what's life without a morning tipsy lol. The bar area was lovely and the place was very lively. Music, conversational people, thr game was on. Felt very welcoming. The bartender was very attentive and fast. I asked for a Chardonnay and he served it up in an instant. What caught my eye about the menu was the crab cake Benedict. I've heard of an eggs Benedict but never a crabcake Benedict. The cake was so tender, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The hollandaise sauce was very creamy very rich. Paired really well with the Chardonnay if I must add. Recommendation by my amazing wife, visited on a packed Friday evening with a reservation, and definitely recommended to make a reservation to avoid any waiting times. Parking here is a bit strange, looks like theres a small valet parking lot behind the establishment, I see some parking next door in the McDonalds plaza (free) but that could be a bit complicated. I would recommend parking in the nearby residential streets and walking over if there's non available. Foothill is very pretty inside, and outdoor seating looks ideal as well. We decided on having a indoor table as outside was a bit chilly. Our server was pretty attentive and fast. Plenty of times did he made conversation with us, very friendly and professional. 1. PORTABELLA FRIES ($18) A nice appetizer dish, can be a bit fulfilling but most definitely a shareable dish that serves 1-2 people. Mushrooms are mixed really well with all the toppings. Has a slightly sweet/salty combo along with the mushroom and garlic taste. Very well presented and definitely recommend if you like mushrooms and fries. 2. LEMON HERB GRILLED CHICKEN ($30) By far my favorite dish for this visit. Marinated extremely well, the chicken is very tender, easy to cute, and portions are pretty big for the chicken given. The two types of potatoes provided on the side is great because it soaks in the flavoring, a very nice compliment to the chicken. The lemon definitely adds a very nice layer of flavor, perfect entree and highly recommend to give it a try. 3. BEEF STROGANOFF ($30) Short ribs at its finest. The herb cream sauce is very flavorful, pappardelle noodle style is perfect to mix with the provided toast. Highly recommend eating it as a combo for more flavor. Overall, love the restaurant. Beautiful interior & exterior, great quality food, great service, and overall a very nice visit. Will be visiting again whenever in the area or even to celebrate a occasion. Abigail was so perky and helpful! I got an ice tea and she was so attentive and good at refilling it. At the end of our meal, she even offered to get me a to-go cup so I could pour the leftovers into it and take it home with me! This is my fourth time here since they opened, and I had the best experience today! First of all, we happened to come on "all day happy hour Wednesday!" And our server, as I had already mentioned was so friendly and smiley and so was the rest of the staff. She alone definitely emitted lots of positive vibes. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. We opted for indoors since it was so hot today. I have been here for lunch 2x and brunch once. The food really delivered today! Based on her recommendation, we got the summer peach salad which was a special menu item. The salad came with arugula, peach, shrimp, grapes and cucumbers. The peach was nicely charred and so was the shrimp. The grapes were sliced in perfectly half circles. This was the perfect summer salad. Although, I think I could eat this salad all year round. It is one of the better salads I have had this year. There was no cheese which made this dish light and refreshing and I am also allergic to diary. Next, we ordered the braised short-ribs sliders. OMG. These sliders were so flavorful with the perfect aioli. Again, no cheese on the sliders so the dish wasn't very greasy. The salad and the sliders and the ice tea all went perfectly well together for a tasty summer lunch on a hot day. There is limited parking in the back of the restaurant and you can find street parking in the residential area behind the restaurant. Overall, I was very happy. Unless you are a local it is easy to miss this place. Although I have been here several times, I realized that I was always passing this whilst on my way to grab a bite with friends. This time i am so glad that I remembered Foothills restaurant ( Nite: it's located in foothill blvd past the Mc Donald's In the past I've had their great brunch which never let me down. This time I had create fur fish and chips which were lightly buttered and tasty. Paired that with the artichoke dip which also had good flavor. This was during lunch so we did not hit the bar, but from the looks of it and glancing at the drink menu. They have a lot to offer. Five stars for Foothill Diner and six stars for Travis, our server at 3pm on this balmy Friday. We wanted to eat outside on this warm afternoon and decided to try Foothill based on their patio option and positive reviews. We had little advance info and it worked out perfectly. It was happy hour and our Mai Tais were extremely potent. Things were looking pretty rosy right off the bat and our server, Travis, was a big part of the positive experience. We started with the beet hummus with macadamia and it was glorious in color, presentation and taste. Plenty of sourdough toast and fresh veggies to enjoy it all the way through. My honey had the grilled shrimp tacos (Travis's rec!) and I ordered the short rib sliders. Both were excellent. Travis shared that short ribs are a house specialty btw. Drove all the way here to have brunch with my girlfriends this past Saturday. Beautiful and inviting ambiance...great brunch place. We made reservations and we were seating right away. I ordered the brisket hash with scrambled eggs and the waitress let me know it's not your typical hash but more like a beef stew and showed me a picture. It was bursting with flavor...meat was tender, potatoes cooked perfectly. My other girlfriend had the avocado toast and requested eggs on the side..and she also said it was yummy. We did not give her a reaction but decided to let our tip reflect our service along with a complaint to the hostess at the front of the house. My friend, who is a local, loves this place and said they have a great happy hour! I'm a sucker for a good happy hour! Foothill has a pretty decent happy hour, and if you go on a Wednesday, happy hour is all day long! The place was packed inside, and it was noisy too. They have a large patio area, so we were quickly seated outside. It was pretty hot, a mister might have helped a bit. They do a good job of keeping the shade off of everyone, though. I started out with the HH Old Fashioned. $11. Beautifully crafted with a large ice cube, a perfect orange wedge, and a Luxardo cherry, but way way too sweet. I think they must use syrup to sweeten it instead of a sugar cube. Big disappointment. My friend had the house red and the house white wine on the HH menu and enjoyed them both. For an appetizer, we had the deviled eggs in the HH menu. $10. Never thought of ordering deviled eggs for happy hour before, but there's a first time for everything, and these were pretty darn good. The bacon bits and the bits of blue cheese really make them pop, and they use a lot of mustard...just like my mom used to. Loved 'em! I had the Burger & Beer on the HH menu. $16. Pretty good deal! Perfectly cooked. It was OK, nothing life-changing, but it's good enough, especially for the price. It comes with the beer of the day. It was a lager that day and it was good. The burger only comes with a pickle wedge on the side, so be sure you know that. I was surprised it didn't have at least a couple of chips or fries with it...I'd gladly pay a couple of bucks more for a few fries or chips. My friend had the HH Shrimp Ceviche. $17. That's the winner! Wow, I had a bite and instantly regretted not ordering it. It's a super good deal, and it's beautifully done. Our server, Travis, was awesome. He really added to our enjoyable time at Foothill. They have valet parking in the back, but if you don't mind walking a block, you can easily find street parking on a side street on the opposite side of the street. Foothill is worth checking out. This was the perfect restaurant for my boyfriend's birthday luncheon. His daughter and her dog accompanied us and were welcomed on the very pretty patio, with very nice seating. They had a great menu with so many choices that were perfect for lunch. I opted for the Cobb Salad, which came with delicious ranch dressing. His daughter had the seared Ahi tuna salad, which is their version of a Chinese chicken salad, but elevated by the beautiful tuna. And my boyfriend had the very best fish and chips I have ever tasted, including in London. The taste of their special batter still lingers in my mind. And, they had a phenomenal, huge, complimentary, hot fudge sundae with a giant sparkler for the birthday boy at the end. I thought service was good, no complaints. The waitress was helpful and gave us some good recommendations. I would say the food was average and did not stand out, so I probably wouldn't come back on my own accord. We tried the following appetizers: shrimp ceviche, red beet hummus, portobello fries, and crispy calamari (I wasn't able to take pictures of all the dishes, sorry). Of these, the red beet hummus was really good and the favorite of the table. The shrimp ceviche was very meh in my opinion. The calamari was more rubbery in texture in it was crispy. As an entree, I ordered the beef stroganoff. The portion size was very generous and there was a good amount of protein. Flavorwise, I don't think it really stood out. Foothill has been on my list forever, and I'm so glad I finally made it in -- what an experience! From the moment we sat down, the service was top-tier. Our server, Bryan, was absolutely amazing: attentive, friendly, and genuinely made the whole meal feel special. We started with the Portobello fries, and WOW -- crispy, flavorful, and instantly a new favorite. The hot wings had the perfect amount of heat, and the spicy artichoke dip was creamy, bold, and completely addictive. For the kids, we ordered the steak frites, and even they couldn't stop talking about how good it was. And the artichoke? So fresh and so tasty -- definitely a standout. Last night was the first time I dined at foothill. I've driven by here many times, and I frequently visit the McDonald's next door too and I've only seen the signs to not park at McDonalds to eat at foothill. I just dined in with a group of friends. I was surprised how big it was and it was able to accommodate our party of twelve. There were also a couple of other larger parties there as well and it's a fairly big space even though it doesn't look like it from the outside. The only problem is parking can be a little bit dicey in the parking lot but there are some options for street parking if you got lucky. For my food I got the steak frites. it came with butter and marrow on top. And the fries were really good as well. Because of other items that other people in the party got were the pork chop, the fish tacos, and the shepherd's pie. Overall, everyone seemed to enjoy their food. The service was really good. For the larger groups, keep in mind that they charge a 20% gratuity fee that's included. Overall, it was a great dining experience. Met some friends for Sunday brunch. Were going to sit outside but it was a rainy day! Inside was nice. Lots of small groups. There were 4 of us and we had a nice tall table in the corner. Our server was very nice and friendly, and gave us time t9 catch up with drinks before we placed our order. The food was delicious. My husband had the short rib hash which he loved and has been talking about since. He said next time he will ask for the eggs over easy or poached, so more yolk can run into the dish. First time at this place. Celebrated our company holiday get together here. Travis our waiter was super awesome. Took care of our 15 people group with the most exceptional service all around! My wagyu burger medium-rare was cooked to perfection and the side of onion rings were solid as well. The standout star at our table was definitely the portabello mushroom appetizer. Big thick slices deep fried and topped with garlic parmesan cheese and other house seasonings paired with a side of mayo based creamy yet a bit tangy side sauce. This is hidden gem on Foothill boulevard. I have been here a few times. This evening, we came to try their happy hour. There is a good selection on happy hour small bites and plenty of drinks to choose from. I ordered the fried fish taco and short ribs taco. My boyfriend had the fried shrimp taco and the Mediterranean shrimp. I had a glass of red. While eating for our food, we admired the decor of the restaurant. It has a casual vibe and I love the dark wood with grey and complimented well with the brick facade. The server was very attentive. Even though she knew we were here for happy hour, she was nice to share with us the dinner special. The food came out promptly. One thing I'd really like was the food temperature.
