The waitress was friendly and I appreciated the attention she gave to my dogs, who came out from under the table to say hi :) The restaurant was still on their brunch menu when we arrived at 1pm on a Saturday. I ordered the garden wrap, one of the few non-breakfast type items listed on the menu (I was not in the mood for breakfast or eggs). To be honest, I wasn't expecting much, but the wrap was surprisingly up to par. It was a warm wrap with a housemade beet hummus, avocado, bell peppers, onion, and arugula. Going to split this review into 2: Breakfast/Brunch: - Great experience since the food options are diverse and generously portioned and wait staff is very attentive and personable. Great way to spend your mornings on the outdoor patio. Weekends are a bit crowded but, the outdoor patio seating area is perfect for family gatherings and/or bringing your fur baby (yes, this restaurant is pet friendly and the wait staff love the fur babies). Dinner: - Evenings are a bit "bland" in comparison. My main complain is that the front desk people are not as welcoming and give the impression that the hostess would rather not be working / interacting with guests. It gives a bad impression especially if, as a repeat patron, I wanted to bring anyone to the restaurant. - waitstaff remains to be attentive and personable. I would definitely buy the 2 waitresses that came over to say hi to my partner and I + our fur baby a couple of drinks. - I recommend sticking to the appetizers for dinner. The Steak Frites was a bit too salty and had more fatty bits than I would have preferred (the fries are bomb tho). Wings and veggies are a hit! The charcuterie felt it was missing something but, it was a cute snack to enjoy with some wine. Where do all the locals go? And the visitors? Well, they go to Foothill who is open from early in the morning to dessert time in the evening. The menu was clear, short and to the point. The food was prepared as described and above par. The service (I sat at the bar) was good. I tried their Chorizo Chilaquilles which was absolutely delightful. I had them scramble my eggs however, an afterthought told me to try it again next time and get my eggs poached instead. Their Mimosa carafes were priced right. And the amount is perfect for 4 people to have a couple eye openers in the morning or for 1 person = whatever you decided to do. They are a sportsbar and american diner type location. So expect noise. So expect sports talk. They have a separate private room if you are interested in group events and they do have an outdoor patio dining area. Parking in the rear of the building. I expect they will run out of parking during their busier times. Came back to foothill on a sunny Saturday for brunch with the bestie. Party of 2 + 2 (with the doggos). We lucked out on the most perfect sunny day, and sitting outside in the patio area was a dream. Parking is a bit tight with a small lot, but we easily found street parking nearby, so no biggie. I got the classic, which they call "the Standard," an egg, hash brown, and bacon breakfast. I also got a side of Caesar Salad to get my greens in. Everything was delicious, but my small bowl of Caesar salad was $9, which felt a little steep. My bestie got the eggs benedict and she gives it a thumbs up. To drink, I got the chai with almond milk, and it was great! The real highlight, though, was the service. Our awiter, Traviss, was great - super attentive, constantly refilling our waters, and checking to make sure we were happy. I think the owner might've been there too, helping out and greeting guests, which added such a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The team here is incredibly kind. The lot in back is small and it's shared with other adjacent businesses. Your best bet is out front in the street or across the street in the business strip mall area. They have copper plated tables here, which is kind of cool but it gives off a little bit if a scent. There's also a spacious outdoor patio with cafe style lighting. Classic Americana dishes on the menu and a nice selection of mixed spirits. This is a great choice for company parties or even a date. Ordered the following: - Cobb salad - 7.5/10: pretty standard, nothing outstanding. Bountiful serving that will definitely fill you up. - Old Fashioned - 9/10: now this is what I'm talking about. On Sun, 11/23/25 1100, arrived via the back and discovered the $5 valet. Normally, I luv valet, but at night, in heels. Did not see any other parking lot so did the valet. Later discovered you can keep going west on Foothill then turn right on Daisy and park there for free. Sat inside. Mel and Val came and we all ordered breakfast. I ordered the chicken chilaquiles with the jalapeño green sauce on the side (since I can't eat spicy) and added avocado. All of our food came together. Mine came without avocado. Asked the server who dropped it off and they went back to the kitchen to get it. Avocado came and I started to dig in to my chilaquiles. Then I realized, I couldn't find the chicken. Was it so so so tiny and mixed in with the white cheese? Maybe it blended so easily with the rest of the food that I couldn't see it? Maybe I need new contacts. I then asked our server where the chicken was. Because I couldn't see it. She took it back, told me that they were making a brand new chilaquiles because she also couldn't see the chicken. The chicken was invisible. She apologized for the delay. She thanked us for being patient with them. But while waiting, Mel and Val almost finished their food. Finally, mine came out, but now they had to wait for me to eat. Not a great experience. It was also my first time. The 7 of us came for brunch on a recent Sunday AM with a reservation made online. We were seated right away, after about 30 mins into our meal the place was packed! Foothill is definitely popular for weekend brunch. It was also VERY noisy, something with their walls where everyone's conversation just echoed off each other. I can only hear my hubby who sits across from me, but no one else at our table unfortunately. Would love to come back when it's not a hot day so we can enjoy the outdoor patio with our dog. Onto the food, I got a chicken chilaquiles that comes with 2 eggs and I swap the spicy verde green sauce for the tomato red sauce. I think this may just be regular enchilada sauce, but it was very good and glad it's not spicy. Hubby ordered a cheeseburger and his plate was empty pretty quickly. Couple people in our group ordered the chicken and waffles and both agreed the chicken was a bit dry. Another person ordered the crab cake benedict and they enjoyed it. Went to this diner today - our second time here. The first time was amazing so we came back. First things first - the staff is great. From being seated to the servers, all are friendly and attentive. The place has a cool vibe and is very clean. The three rating is for the food. It is pricy and not very good. I had the brioche French toast and it was average - dried out and not hot. My husband had crab cake Benedict. He said it was just OK. The lattes were also expensive and just OK. Both were expensive - and a 3% kitchen fee was added to an already expensive for what you get meal. We didn't see the kitchen fee disclosed on the menu. When you don't want to deal with the parking, crowds, and traffic of going into old town Pasadena, then Foothill restaurant is a good alternative spot. It's no frills, typically no wait (can't speak about brunch/lunch, we came on a Sunday evening). Prices are your typical fare (although some entrees range from $35-50), but the portions are quite large and shareable (with the exception of the soup of the day). We ordered appetizers and mains to share among our group, and the star of the night was the portobello fries (huge pieces and full of garlicky flavor, I would come back for this!). Ceviche wasn't bad but the chips were stale, so I'll skip. The pasta dishes were huge, can easily share amongst the group. Service: They have both indoor and outdoor seating. I went on the weekend and service is on the slower side. It looks like there's not enough staff to handle the amount of tables and groups seated down on. Portobello fries: 2-inch width large cut Portabello Mushrooms. The exterior is crunchy but since the mushroom width is a bit larger it's kinda mushy. Red beet hummus (with toast): I've never seen red beet hummus, but it's on the sour side. I recommend pairing this with a sliced meat dish to reduce the sourness. Calamari: HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! So crispy with the right amount of light batter. Veggie tacos: SO GOOD, mushrooms were grilled well. Since it's a veggie taco it feels lighter to fill you up. The grilled mushrooms were the highlight of this dish. Garden wrap: This also had red beet hummus spread. If you wanted to try red beet hummus, I would order the garden wrap. For a chef to breeze past the levels medium, medium well, and go straight to well done is several levels of fail that would never leave a quality kitchen--please do not send such an expensive dish out badly. Make it again before the diner sees it. We didn't send it back, but I was embarrassed for my guest. Rocky wings also were sparse for the price...$16 for 6 small wings? Visited the foothill for my Birthday lunch with a girlfriend who is looking at having her daughter's bridal shower there in May. I have to say I enjoyed my steak salad, and the artichoke dip we started with was really good- not too creamy heavy cheesy. I saw and tasted plenty of green. Yum! We also sampled the red beet hummus and that was a beautiful color, very pretty dish that tasted great. I think it's going on the menu in May. The bartender was helpful and friendly. The over all vibe was a good one. I took a look at the bar itself and it was definitely stocked with good quality booze so perhaps next time I'll have a cocktail.
