Service was polite but not quite that welcoming that you would feel at a mom n pops shop. It's too bad coz if it were, we would frequent this diner/cafe. Most places that we're regulars at, we feel valued as patrons and are welcomed like family. I find less and less places have this kind of atmosphere. We ordered breakfast staples; Hubby ordered a machaca combo with flour tortillas & black beans, I opted for the (2 large!) banana walnut pancakes combo with chicken apple sausage, potatoes & over medium eggs. Our food arrived timely, hot and good presentation. Hubby said the machaca was decent because having had his fair share of machaca, these passed. My pancakes were huge! Flavor was good, as the banana slices & walnuts were cooked in, not just placed on top like most places. Macadamias would've been a better pairing though. The chicken apple sausage was flavorful & eggs were cooked as requested. Noise level was somewhat loud with all the clanging as tables were cleaned/bussed around us. Love their breakfast and lunch, it's the bomb! We'll definitely be back. This was my second visit, and the food was just as amazing as I remembered. The waiters and waitresses were all super friendly and welcoming. The only thing that really turned me off was one staff member who was clearing tables. I was still enjoying my hot lavender chai latte. I like to sip my drink slowly while chatting with friends, and just as I was about to take another sip, he took my drink away without asking if I was finished. I was pretty upset, but he had already walked away before I had a chance to say anything. As Deaf customers, we appreciate a little extra patience and courtesy. Please ask us if we're finished with our drinks or food before taking them away. A simple gesture like pointing to the drink or asking if we're done goes a long way and helps us feel respected and included. Overall, the food is excellent, and the rest of the staff were wonderful. This is one of those brunch places with an enormous menu--you could probably come back several times and still not try everything. There's definitely something for everyone, whether you're craving breakfast classics, lunch, or something in between. The restaurant is almost always busy, so expect a crowd. One feature I do appreciate is that you can join the waitlist through Yelp before arriving, which makes the wait much more manageable. Went on a very grueling hike, so we came to Millie's Cafe for a well-earned reward of a meal! My mind had been thinking of a breakfast burrito for hours, so naturally I ended up order the Famous Breakfast Burrito with my choice of meat beating Sausage Link. The burrito was really well-constructed. Very well balanced between the eggs and crispy tater tots! Was also a bit bemused that they didn't have hash browns on the weekend, but ordered some tasty Rosemary Potatoes instead. Staff here were great. Revisited with my wife for another brunch occasion and we might be more impressed this time than our previous visit. It was packed as usual and we got on the Yelp waitlist about 15 minutes before arrival which is always recommended. After being seated, we placed our order quickly and our food came out more quickly than our previous visit which is a great sign to see especially since they're busy all the time. This time around, I got the California Omelet and my wife got the Maynard Scramble. Both were absolutely phenomenal, potatoes are perfectly cooked and eggs were perfect as well. Both dishes aren't too filling as well which is great. Portions that they hand out are always big so prepare for a big FEAST. Parking: Millie's Cafe is located on the corner of Hill and Washington. There is usually street parking on Hill. Exterior: There are tables set up on the sidewalk for outdoor dining. Interior: The interior was pretty crowded. The tables were very close together so it was also very noisy as people try to talk over each other. Service: It usually takes me about 30-45 minutes to get seated. The waitlist is pretty long and you can sign up ahead on Yelp. Food: The food is pretty good. I have tried several omeletes. The Denver omelet is probably my favorite. They are loaded with ingredients and the egg is usually cooked perfectly unlike some places where it just ends up dry or burnt. Their pancakes are also great. They are made to order and extremely fluffy. I will definitely be back for more. read more

Love this place! Love that there is plenty of free parking on the street. I LOVE their food. New favorite: blueberry French toast. A new MUST. Their Benedicts are also bomb! The Blueberry Oat Matcha wasn't overly sweet, which I really liked--it had a nice balance. Service was great--our servers were attentive and helpful throughout. I came to visit this spot after a morning of hiking. There is a parking lot in the back , however it was full at the time I went so I parked on the street by a church. I was seated outside by the street , tables were a bit small & close, but still cozy. Staff was friendly & open to questions. I went with the Eleanor special which was a 10/10 , the potatoes were made with rosemary & seasonings. I also had an iced matcha latte with a pump of vanilla. I've always heard Millie's was the place for brunch. Our son had a long weekend off school, so we went out on a Friday to spend some time with him and decided to come here for brunch. I read online that their Silverlake location is smaller with first-come, first-served seating, while the Pasadena location has both indoor and outdoor seating. It's highly recommended to use the Yelp waitlist, as the lines can get long. We joined the waitlist before we arrived and it said we were fourth in line, but we were quickly seated at a table of our choice without waiting, which was nice. They provide water and glasses at the table, along with standard diner condiments. I started with a coffee ($5.00), which was refillable, so you definitely get your money's worth. They refilled it twice for us. I had a lot of energy when we left! Our son wanted pancakes but couldn't decide. We ordered two single pancakes: an original ($6) and a blueberry pancake ($8.00). I tried a bite of the blueberry pancake, and it was a solid, fluffy pancake. My wife ordered two eggs, hash browns with her choice of meat and toast. She chose sausage and sourdough toast. The sausages were large and had a maple flavor, which we both liked and would order again. The hash browns were excellent, and our son ended up eating my wife's, and she ended up with his pancakes, much to her chagrin. Being the nice mother she is, she was happy to let our son eat her food. I ordered one of their specialties, the Devil's Mess, and it was a bit underwhelming, to be honest. I liked the sour cream and guacamole on top, but it didn't have enough spice for me. I asked for some hot sauce and salsa. There's a $1 up-charge for a small container of salsa, which was pretty good and exactly what I needed for my Devil's Mess. You can choose between home fries or hash browns, and I went with the home fries, which were great. I wouldn't order the Devil's Mess again, but I'm glad I tried it. We will definitely be back and order two plates of what my wife gets so our son and she can both have the food they want. I'll probably try the Chicken Fried Steak next time. They allowed us to seat early in line since we were ok with outside seating. The service was quick too. The parking situation is tough in the lot but you should be able to get some spots in the nearby streets. The coffee is solid here. I ordered a Blue Magik, which is blue spirulina with a nice hint of cinnamon. I was able to get it with oat milk. I was less of a fan of the avocado toast. The avocado was good but I prefer mine mashed. I did take a star off due to it lacking in seasoning. I fell in love with the location in Silver Lake and I was shocked to find out there's a location in Pasadena and booked it and omg it's so good!! I love the lemoncotta pancake. The service was smooth as soon I got there I thought I needed to sit somewhere else other than at my own party table the next table over turned over just in time and they cleaned it so fast. I wanted to try this location out and was lucky to get parking in the lot behind it. I got there early enough that I didn't have to wait. However, they put me in a small room to the left of the entrance all by myself with kitchen doors instead of the main room. The back servers/bussers are on it. Quick with water and coffee and very helpful. Servers were friendly but no one came to me, besides the bussers, for almost 15. I got up to get someone and someone saw me and came. Food came out quickly. Food was yummy! The biscuit was so good! Though I wish hash browns were available all week long. It started filling up and by the time I was done the place had no empty seat. Tables are close together. I did notice another table next to me had only sat for maybe a minute or two and multiple servers came by trying to get their order after they just told the other they were looking at the menu. It was one extreme (me waiting) to another. I get it's a busy place during peak times but sesh. I have had their vegan Chiliquiles as well and they are good. I also appreciate that they offer vegan lattes with soy milk. My friends got non vegan food and loved their dishes. I would give 5 stars, but the seating is not always the best and the service is rushed because they're always on a wait. Sometimes you get sat outside and their umbrellas don't always save you from the sun. But they are super popular so it comes with the territory. I have been coming for years and will continue to go. Ordered the World famous burrito, they should call it the world's blandest burrito costing $22.50, the Eleanor R special, the forage omelette each for around $19 each and an iced latte. Everything here is bland and over priced. I can't believe the amount of people that come here to eat. I thought at least the rosemary potatoes would have some kick but alas they were extra bland as well. The service was very fast and attentive. As for the Latte drink. It was the blandest worst Latte I've ever come across. I might have had some coffee in it but leaned more towards a milky flavor. I will not be back, ever. Whenever my girlfirends and I go, we always ask to be seated inside and it's worth waiting longer to be seated inside most of the time. Our favorite food items to get are the pancakes. The Monkey Banana Pancake is our top choice, followed by the Lemon Ricotta pancakes. When I am craving protein, I get the chilaquiles. The portions are generous and they only do hashbrowns on weekends. Only some menu items come with the potatoes. I am not a fan of their fries - the fries are always too soft for my liking. The coffee, while unlimited, tends to be watered down. If you want to get stronger coffee, I would recommend getting one of their signature lattes. The environment could get loud because the room echoes. There are only two bathrooms in the back. Had to show my wonderful husband this spot since he's a big fan of brunch, and this one is one of the best brunch spots out there. I did warn him about the long lines, but we timed it perfectly for our visit. Ultimately, we decided on three dishes to share between two people: Eggs Benedict, Shrimp Scramble, and the Strawberry, Banana, Nutella Waffle. Eggs Benedict: cooked to perfection. I loved the side of rosemary potatoes that come along with the dish - definitely a solid side to the delicious benedict. Eggs were very savory and not too salty. I highly recommend ordering this breakfast dish, as it's one of their signatures, from the looks of it. Shrimp Scramble: surprisngly, this had a hint of spice to it which was not stated in the menu. Not too salty and definitely would order again on the next visit. Strawberry, Banana, Nutella Waffle: love that the strawberries and bananas had an even spread along the presentation of the dish. What made it delicious was that you didn't realy need the maple syrup, although I would still recomended if you want more flavoring, but the fruits were more than enough sugar for me. The waffle was super soft, chewy, and easy to eat. Super yummy sweet dish and definitely a nice side to balance out the savory dishes.
