Nothing beats a Thai food takeout! It is truly the ultimate comfort meal for me, and this takeout order from Miya made my husband and I really happy we decided to try somewhere new. We got the pad see ew with tofu, veggie spring rolls, "beef" basil with green beans, and a Thai tea with coconut milk. Everything was comforting, flavorful, and had that real home-cooked feeling to it. Just really delicious food that you want to keep eating. The best surprise was finding out that Tuesdays are all plant-based. We had no idea when we ordered, and honestly, what a cool thing to do! The "beef" basil with green beans was so good, and the whole meal left us excited to come back and try more. There's something really special about finding a true neighborhood spot like this. We love this city and love being able to support local businesses. Miya is exactly the kind of place we want to see thrive. We will definitely be coming back! I can't wait to dine in as well. The restaurant is so cozy and aesthetic pleasing and all of the staff we briefly interacted with for the pick-up order were so warm and friendly!!
The food was really good! I recommended the fried chicken!! (it's remind me of Hat-Yai chicken) and Kao soi. I might go back for the chicken for sure
I really wanted to like this place because it's a cute spot, and since I live i don't live too far. Unfortunately, both the service and the food were disappointing. Service: This is a walk-up counter where you order first. Hand written menu on the wall. I asked if the green onions could be left off the crab fried rice because my sister has a food allergy. We were initially told they don't allow any alterations. After a bit of back and forth, the woman at the counter finally said she'd do it "because we're not busy," but added that they wouldn't do it next time. That should have been our first sign to leave. Accommodating a food allergy shouldn't feel like you're asking for a favor. Whatever happened to customer service? Bill was $140 so wasn't cheap. Crab Fried Rice: The portion was generous, but it was surprisingly sweet. We specifically requested no green onions due to an allergy, which became an issue before we even got the food. Flavor-wise, it lacked the savory balance you'd expect and tasted overly sugary. They did use real crab. Tom Yum Shrimp Soup: This was the biggest disappointment. Tom Yum should be bright, tart, spicy, and aromatic. Instead, it was noticeably sweet, with very little of the sourness that makes the soup so enjoyable. Papaya Salad with Fried Chicken: The fried chicken was crispy and the portion was large, but the papaya salad was far too sweet. Good papaya salad should have a balance of lime, fish sauce, heat, and a touch of sweetness--not taste like sugar was the dominant ingredient. Chicken Larb: Again, a generous portion, but the seasoning missed the mark. Larb should be vibrant with lime juice, fish sauce, herbs, and toasted rice powder. Instead, it leaned heavily sweet, and the bright, tangy flavors were missing. Morning Glory: Another large portion, but once again the sweetness overwhelmed the dish. By the end of the meal, everything tasted sweet. Did the chef mix the salt vs sugar ? I noticed they have a cart stocked with large bottles of fish sauce, hot sauce, and other condiments, which made me wonder if customers are expected to adjust the flavors themselves because the kitchen won't. I kept adding fish sauce to try to balance the dishes, but there was no fixing how overly sweet everything was. Overall, the portions were generous and the restaurant is cute, at the heart of the Altadena fire really wanted to come Back and support but the service and the execution of the food were a big miss for me. Sadly, I won't be back.
Miya Thai appeared to be about as an authentic Thai restaurant as you can find. and it is a great local place for good, healthy food in Altadena. Tuesday is plant based -- the fried oyster mushrooms with sticky rice and papaya salad were exceptionally tasty. Crispy, tender and delicious. Service was very friendly and good. Order at the counter and in a short time, your food is delivered to your table. Inside the restaurant is decorated with lots of Thailand memorabilia and film posters. Thai Iced tea was wonderful on a warm summer day. Glad this place survived the Eaton fire -- it is a real gem in Altadena.
**Disclaimer--this is based on Miya food booth at Coachella 2026, not the actual restaurant location** I went to Coachella Weekend 1 and Miya was actually my very first vendor meal there. I got their Spicy Shrimp Pad Thai and omg... it was lowkey one of the best pad thai I've had in a WHILE. And I don't say that lightly because I'm picky picky when it comes to pad thai. It's literally the one dish I always order at any Thai restaurant, so my standards is kinda up there. But also... this was in the middle of the desert at a music festival so ngl I didn't have high hopes lol. But their Spicy Shrimp Pad Thai was so good!! The flavor was super authentic, spicy, tangy, just hitting all the right notes. The noodles had that perfect chewiness, not clumped together so they know exactly what they doing with their food! The shrimp were big and tasted fresh and all the toppings: bean sprouts, grounded peanuts, and lime, just brought everything together so nicely. Also the staff were super sweet and friendly, and I got my food in likes 5 minutes, gave me more enough time to sit down and enjoy my pad thai while waiting for Sabrina Carpenter's stage setup. Miya's Pad Thai completely won me over at Coachella, it's sooo good to the point where now I actually wanna go visit the real restaurant if I'm ever around the Altadena area.
Super adorable Thai food shop in Altadena. The vibe and decor inside is extremely cozy and homey. They have retro posters and arcade games and old vintage toys decorating the store, which is super cute. We waited around 30 minutes to order and get our food and there were quite a few people in the store when we went on a weekend around 7 PM. We ordered the fried rice with chicken and pad Thai. The portions looked relatively small, but filled us up perfectly. We were a party of three but only ordered two entrée since we weren't that hungry. The fried rice was not too salty and was very well balanced, and the cucumbers added an amazing freshness. The pad Thai had a strong acidity to it, but we enjoyed the crispy pork belly it came with. Both of the entrées were not too oily or greasy. The rest of their menu looked amazing and I hope to be back to try it soon. They also have Thai tea which I am a sucker for, so I'll definitely be back to try that too. Overall, I'd recommend this place for some delicious, casual Thai food and good vibes.
We didn't have any trouble finding parking on the street but there's also a lot behind. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by approximately eight-year-old Miya herself! She took our order as if she's been doing it all her life! For vegetables, she recommended Chinese Broccoli, because she loves its crispy stems, but we chose Morning Glory, which turned out to be really wonderfully seasoned (the hubby's highlight dish!), we also got the Khao Soi chicken noodles, which was almost too hot for me, but oh so delicious! and Pumpkin Red Curry, which was not too spicy at all, but also very delicious. And it had so many other things in it besides pumpkin... There was carrots, and cabbage, and more things I can't remember! I wish we lived closer so we could come back more often! There's outdoor seating, but we sat inside where there was a nice mellow vibe.
This place has been on my LIST for some quite time and so glad we got to try it today. I got there right when it opened, because I've always known it to have a wait. (Great trick!). I am not Thai, BUT, if I had to describe the food as "it tastes like home" that's how I would describe it. There was a comfort in the flavors: strong but not overpowering, tasty, and just comforting. The staff was friendly with everyone. We sat in the area where the register and kitchen are at, by the window. And it was really cool to see the comings and goings. There are options to sit in the addition room or even outside. Many also called in orders for pick up (my friend does this all the time)!
Seriously - You've got to try Miya. It's one of the best Thai Food restaurants I've ever had. WOW! Every single dish at Miya is just absolutely delicious: flavors, spices, spiciness, freshness, mix of ingredients, saltiness... everything was PERFECTO! While I always refer this restaurant "in Pasadena", Miya is actually in Altadena -- just north of Pasadena. It is a cozy spot and well known for their homestyle dishes that is just perfectly cooked and seasoned. Once inside, you would order at the cash register before finding a seat. Then they'll bring the food to your table. Service is fast, efficient and very friendly. In SoCal - there is no shortage of great eats at great prices... and Miya definitely TOPS THE LIST FOR ME!! I am so coming back next time and asap! Thanks for a great meal!!!
Got here around 630pm on a Friday night. We were told the wait time is upwards of 20 minutes to get a table and 30 minutes for food. We lucked out and only waited outside in the cold for 10 minutes tops. We were seated and food arrived in about 10-15 min. When you check in for a table, you can place the order for your food first. This reduced the wait time significantly. Pad thai with shrimp - so much flavor, not your ordinary pad thai. It had small dried shrimp, a kick with some red pepper and a strong tamarind sauce. Khao soi soup - the flat egg noodles soak up all the flavors of the curry. It's a bit spicy for me but I love the contrasting textures, the softness of the egg noodles with the crispy noodles. Thai fried chicken - different than other fried chicken I've had. My husband loved it. It was covered in crispy fried shallots and you dip it in a sweet and sour sauce. A bit different because there's sticky rice included as well as a papaya salad with the fried chicken. The Papaya salad is kinda cooling after eating the fried chicken so I feel it balanced it out. Tom kha soup - probably one of my top dishes this time, maybe because it was one of the non spicy dishes so I got to enjoy it much more haha. It's savory, a little tart from the lime and the mushrooms were tender (also soaked up the soup so flavorful). There are multiple small tables all around with 2 larger tables. You walk in one side of the restaurant and there's a walkway leading to the next "room" with additional seating. Not a big place but cozy and comfortable.
Miya is such a cute tiny lil restaurant. Mind you, it's waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy up Lake Avenue. There is so much charm to this restaurant. I stopped in with my little one to grab a quick bite. She and I both shared their Thai iced tea & pad see ewe. It was definitely tasty. The portion size, I thought was fairly large. For us, it was the perfect size to share. We placed our order at the counter. The very sweet lady asked us if we'd like any modifications to be made. The only modification for us was adding chicken. It was very tasty and came out quickly. The different kind of soy sauce that they used made it extra flavorful, or something. I cannot explain the flavor of this dish, but it is a sweet soy sauce and other comfort, food types of flavors. It was a nice lunch for us. I didn't look him back to see if there's parking, but I was able to find parking along the street. Hopefully I will have an opportunity to come back soon.
Miya is a hidden gem! I came on a Friday afternoon and service was amazing. If you're vegetarian/vegan there are options for you, but most things have oyster/fish sauce. I got the tofu pad Thai and it was 10/10. It was delicious and so fast. Make sure you eat in the second room, it's beautifully decorated.
Heard great things about Miya so gathered some friends to come here for lunch. We ordered fried chicken, pad see ew, pad Thai with crispy pork belly, yellow curry, and spicy crispy pork basil. The pad Thai has good flavor. So glad it's not made with ketchup like some Thai restaurants. All the other dishes were great except the spicy crispy pork basil. Our party all thought the pork belly pieces were too hard and hard to eat. Otherwise it's deeply savory and can make you eat so much rice with it. We got there at 11:30am on a friendly. It was calm but the lunch crowd started coming in. The decor is cute and warm. It's like eating at someone's home. The menu is on the wall. You order at the counter first and they will bring the food to the table. Overall a pretty good meal. I'd come back to try other dishes.

I went here for a solo dinner on a rainy Friday night. I arrived at 6PM and it was already filled to the brim! The inside of the restaurant felt so cozy and the walls and shelves were filled with wonderful knick knacks. This was instantly a space I wanted to return to. Once you enter, you order at the front and pay before being shown to a seat. A waiter will bring you water and utensils. There are actually 2 dining rooms, so don't panic like I did when you see the first room full. I ended up ordering the famous thai fried chicken. Needless to say, the chicken was DELICIOUS! It was perfectly crispy and juicy. I'm so glad the pieces were already cut as well. The highlight was definitely the papaya salad though. I didn't even touch the sweet and sour sauce haha. The only thing I was missing was some spice. I think next time I'll ask if I can get the papaya salad spicy. Definitely looking forward to my next visit to try some other dishes! read more

Cute local Thai spot in Altadena -- Miya Stopped by on a Tuesday and it happened to be their Plant-Based Tuesday They reopened around June after the fire, and the space feels clean, bright, and cozy. Order at the counter, then grab your own utensils and water -- super casual and relaxed. What we got: Fried King Oyster Mushroom (my favorite, almost every table got one) Yellow Pineapple Curry (I prefer my curry with meat) Pineapple Fried Rice ((Flavorful but not overly salty) Looking to come back on a non plant based day read more

1 Hour Drive! A buddy & I came all the way from Newport Beach & Orange to pick up stuff for my family's business, dropped by here on a Tuesday. Tuesday they have plant based day! I'm an animals advocate. The place was clean& had a nice charm, which I love. Ordered the Pad See Ew which was good, it wasn't too dry, but the tofu was rough in texture. The red curry was smooth & had a spice to it. Love that the menu was small. The girl in blue was friendly and we felt welcome. Alta Dena & Pasadena area is so nice and calm to drive around and see the different vibes. My friend wants to come back, next time we come around the area. read more
Lovely eatery! So thankful we have this amazing restaurant in Altadena. What a way to build back the Altadena community, especially after the fires. My wife told me about this place and said that we HAVE TO GO. Glad we did! Right off the bat the outdoor seating resembles of what I have witnessed through travel shows how eateries in Thailand would resemble. So you get this feel of what their home would feel like. It was nice. The interior decor is filled with authenticity, vintage posters in Thai, flags, memorabilia of what an authentic Thai restaurant should be. The smell is so satisfying the moment you enter. And totally appreciate the ordering process, thankfully they charge prior to seating which is why I am grateful restaurants are waking up to dine n dashers. You pay upfront once you order then you are seated. Pricing is actually reasonable considering the portion sizes are not single serving, more to share. Can't leave out the amazing service. Such polite people representing their business. Now that we ordered our Pad sew veggie, pumpkin curry, and Thai fried chicken it was time to be seated in the dining area located in the back. Honestly this is a really nice restaurant. Gives you "on vacation" vibes the entire time. Sauce carts on the side with to go packaging in case you don't finish all your food. It's great. Now the food! Everything was perfect. The pad sew was delicious. I love noodles any kind of noodles! This was not your typical pad sew you get from other Thai eateries. The broccoli had this mustardy essence to it. Super crunchy. Love at each bite, super authentic. The pumpkin curry to me felt like dessert with a hint of spice. It was so good. My wife was loving every bit of it. And my all time favorite entree which I am going to provide a photo of cause my big back forgot to take the other photos was the Thai fried chicken. Freaken amazing. So much crunch, so juicy and tender LOTS OF FLAVOR. It came with a side of sticky rice, papaya salad(was to die for) and some sweet Thai chili sauce. Nothing I mean nothing CAN COMPARE TO THIS DISH! Best item on the menu IMO. So damn good. A must buy! Shoutout to Miya for bringing all this love and flavor to Altadena. Charming place in Altadena with great food and unique decor. We came here for a work lunch and were surprised to find out it was Plant Tuesday, and it was our first visit... We ordered the standard Thai dishes: papaya salad, fried egg rolls, and pad Thai with tofu. We also tried a pumpkin red curry (to kick off the pumpkin spice season) and the fried chicken (with lion's head mushroom). The fried lion's head mushroom plate was our favorite, it tasted like fried chicken, with crispy golden fried batter, when you took the first bite, it almost tasted like chicken! The plate came with a small scoop of steamed rice and some marinated cabbage. The pumpkin red curry was a-ok, the red curry had good flavor, the dish had eggplant, carrots, green beans, and huge chunks of Japanese pumpkin. However, the veggies lacked flavor, as they were steamed separately and then added to the red curry soup rather than being cooked together. We would definitely visit again for the lion's heim mushroom plate, but not much on the veggie curry.., read more

I've visited Miya twice now and I can say it's a genuine go to neighborhood food spot. We got the Khao Soi Chicken, Basil Crispy Pork, and Pad Siew. We got the Yellow Curry Chicken, Thai Tea, and Mango Sticky rice as well (just not in the photos) and those were also a staple. All were phenomenal and had such rich flavor. The Khao Soi Chicken was truly the star of the restaurant and I would definitely recommend this dish for anyone interested in trying thai cuisine. The service is always friendly and the ambiance is very warm and pleasant. It's a very humble and family/neighborhood oriented space. I would recommend to come visit them early (they open at 11:30) since people do line up to eat here. It's a little small in the main area but they do have another dining area on the other side so seating is in fact plenty! There is street parking right out front but if there's none, not to worry there's a lot of parking in the neighborhood so the walk over is relatively short. This review is post fire and COVID-19. It was so nice to be able to dine inside the restaurant, which was adorned with various ornaments and decorations from Thailand. Service is quick, as they just keep bringing the food to tables until they remove your number. I found the food fairly authentic and the green curry hot enough to make my nose run. Just remember to order at the counter first from the menu behind the cashier, then follow the staff to your table. The best location is at the window, where you have some breathing room. This was a great after Valentine dinner and hit the spot! read more
My first time here but it was on my list for a while. The people inside are super nice and the ambiance is super cute. I chose to sit in the back room to read my book but the front room has a large window for people watching. I got the Thai fried chicken, which was super amazing! I will definitely be back to try more dishes. I wish they had mango stick rice when I went but they didn't, that would have elevated it to the next level. Nonetheless, this is a great spot!!! What a hidden gem in Altadena!!! I cannot believe that I've bookmarked this place for so long and finally got to try it! Came in on a Sunday evening for an early dinner around 5pm. You order and get a number and pick your table. Got the Khao Soi - absolutely delicious! The curry is so rich in flavor and depths. The shallots, the pickled mustard greens, the lime, and the coconut curry come together in a flavor explosion. Did I mention the chicken is absolutely tender! While you are here, look at the interior decor! Fun, nostalgic, and full of cultural richness. Lots of parking on the street nearby! FYI - their front door is heavy - I thought I entered through the wrong doors first cuz I couldn't open. Will absolutely be back! Service was amazing as well! read more
What a great find here in Altadena. Really authentic Thai food! The place brings you back not that I've ever been to Thailand, but the early street food beginnings in Thailand. The menu is written on craft paper and posted behind the register. Typical offerings are featured and we had the omelette over rice, Buddhas feast, vegetables, and Pad see yu. All amazing and delicious. The ambiance makes it even extra special here. Staff is really on top of it friendly and courteous. Food comes out as it's prepared so don't expect all of your plates to be out at the same time. Prices are on the higher end here. For three dishes and a flavored water with tip was $72. It can get somewhat crowded at dinner time since it's so popular. There's parking out front and along the side streets and in the back. Will be enjoying this place again real soon. read more

Sunday dinner, it was very crowded but the service was quick! I was confused how to order. You line up and order at the counter and get the number then grab a table. Kind of like a food court style? The food was absolutely delicious. I was craving some good khao soi and their khao soi ever!!! My husband got a pad Thai with chicken and it was the best thing we have ever tasted. The summer roll was a bit underwhelming because it was vegan and the sauce was lacking peanut flavor but I liked how refreshing it was. The interior is a mixture of Japanese and Thai which I appreciate as a Japanese that the owner likes Japanese sake and beer as well. read more
An Altadena staple, I've heard amazing stories of Miya and knew I had to swing by. The interior is so cutely decorated with ornate vintage Thai movie posters as if the business owners invited us into their home. As for the menu, it's extensive and offers a unique variety of vegetarian and vegan options. The eggrolls (vegetarian) were delicious! Perfect amount of egg to content ratio and had that signature crunch. As for the entrees, I tried their Chicken Khao Soi Noodles and Pumpkin Curry (comes with rice). The Khao Soi was delicious and drenched in mouthwatering hot soup. The pumpkin curry was creamy and just perfect for this rainy season. The counter is set up as an order at the counter and find your own seating. It's honestly remarkable to see how this restaurant serves as a pillar for the Altadena community amidst the rebuilding and reopening efforts. I'll def be back! read more
It was my first time in Altadena, and my friend took me to this little cute restaurant! I'm sososo glad that she did hehe We ordered the Pad Kee Mao and Beef Panang Curry. The Pad Kee Mao has different spice levels, and we got it spicy - and wow it was the first place that actually made the spice level spicy (I get slightly disappointed when a place advertises spice, but it ends up being nothing- so this was a breath of fresh air!). It was delicious!! The Beef Panang Curry was also quite yummy, and there was a good amount of meat it in as well! It comes with rice. I think the proportions were great. The service was lovely and parking was not a hassle. There were seats available, and we got our food at a pretty good amount of time. It's a bit small inside, so it might be a squeeze if there's a lot of people. Overall a really delicious place and I'll be back again!! Thank you :) read more

Does it look like they'll have inside dining anytime soon? We actually like to get out of the house once in awhile and not have to deal with Pasadena.
