Smaller place than look in the picture. We got there in time with a biggest table near the entrance that 2 guests were able to leave in a minute. We've 5 people which fit well for that table of 6. Food portions are little small for that price. Taste was not bad but nothing that had made me remember. Only thing was Pad Thai noodles were pretty good & chewy in texture so not too bad. The chicken skewers were not much flavor & dry. Dishes were a bit oily. It's pricy for their portion & probably not returning for that & flavors weren't kicking. DID I MENTION ADDING BEEF (chicken is free) TOPPING TO CURRY ORDER IS +$3 & SEAFOOD I think was $8! Another thing was unhappy with them is CHARGING 20% MANDATORY TIPS! Came for lunch and tried their Pad see ew, Pad Thai, and curry (forgot which one). The Pad see ew and Pad Thai were soo good. The noodles were good to perfection - not too soft or undercooked and had a good chew to it and the flavors were on point. The curry was good, but the noodle dishes were the stars of the show. The restaurant is small so I don't recommend going with a big group. They have about 8-10 tables that can seat 2-4 people comfortably. Take out is also an option. read more

Pearl Thai is a hidden gem off a side street on Holly. We've done both eat-in and take-out and both are superb experiences. Food is flavorful, hot and fresh. We love the red curry - the juice is full and bold and you can request it with no spice, mild or spicy. We do mild and it's just right for someone who doesn't do super spicy. Get WAY too much because the next 2 days of eating the left overs the flavors work some kind of culinary magic to tantalize your palate. We had all the curries, green, red, yellow, masaman. After the original feast, the following days I added roasted red pepper, mushrooms, Japanese eggplant and zucchini and topped with fresh basil. Went for a late lunch on a Monday and split 3 appetizers with a friend. Restaurant was quiet, comfortable and pleasant. Waitress very nice. Had Shrimp & Veggie Tempura which was fantastic! Tom Kha soup had a lot of lemongrass taste. Mongolian beef tasted like a bottle of bbq sauce was dumped onto it. The chicken satay skewers were okay. Unfortunately I will not be returning. The pad Thai had a very prominent red color that resembled ketchup and even tasted like ketchup..No prominent, authentic taste with sweet & salty balance, tamarind and such. As for the curry, it was a bit watery but not that bad. Both had me feeling very thirsty after do I assume a lot of msg was added. Overall, this is one of those places I'd try once then not return unless someone wanted to go. I don't usually give such reviews but wanted to be really honest.. The seafood soup was way too salty and was not enjoyable, I had to throw it away. I would like to request a refund.

I ordered the wonton soup and the sea bass with tamarind sauce. The wonton soup was described as having chicken wontons, cabbage, and shrimp. When it arrived there were NO shrimp and the soup was so overcooked that the wontons had disintegrated. It was a bunch of chicken meatballs with disintegrated wonton wrapper floating around the bowl. I hadn't eaten any when I told the server there was no shrimp and the wontons fell apart. She said they would remake it, but they brought back the same bowl of soup with the same sad wontons and added ONE shrimp. The sea bass was tasty and well presented. The pineapple basil drink was delicious. They forgot to put in my order for tofu green curry Togo, so I had to wait longer before leaving to bring the food to a friend. When I arrived, the curry was made with chicken and not tofu. Thank goodness my friend wasn't vegetarian! read more

Pearl used to be at the top of our list for Thai food, we've ordered there many times as well as dined in, always a great experience. We were disappointed in almost everything we got today. Unsure if there's a new chef or? We had the beef curry and although I prefer Al denté vegetables the potatoes were very undercooked, almost crunchy. All dishes were over salted. Everything was too spicy including the cucumber salad. I love spicy however my sister does not and I think dishes should appeal to all. I wish I could have given it more stars but I'm not sure how it got the reviews it has now. Place is tiny. Cute but super small. Ordered a beer and Thai tea. Hard to mess up. We ordered the Thai appetizer sampler. It was a lot for 2 but we wanted to try them all. Unfortunately, they ALL mediocre at best. The tempura shrimp were just like the ones you get at Costco. The spring rolls were crispy and good but the rest were in describable as anything. The crab triangles were mostly air and a very small amount of crab and cream cheese. The sauce was not enough for all the apps. The other triangle things were literally indistinguishable as a protein. All had virtually little to no flavor. We ordered the Mongolian beef and the spicy Thai noodles I guess Pad Mee Kao? Again it had no sauce and was dry and very bland. The Mongolian beef was ok but the sauce would have been great on my noodles. The beef was ok but very chewy. Not from this area so not going back. YUM! This is the 5th Thai place I've tried since moving to LA 5 months ago and is the most authentic, with fresh, bright flavors. I always order the green papaya salad/som tam and judge a Thai place on this classic dish and this place got it right! The papaya maintained its soft crunch, and was well dressed with the lime and fish sauce. This salad packed a good amount of heat which I'm not used to, although still enjoyed. I also ordered the pork larb, but didn't end up digging g into it until a few days later, and ate it with some steamed rice. Perhaps sitting in the juices helped enhance the flavors because I was so sad to see the bottom of my bowl, it was that good. I'll be sure to come back to try other dishes off their menu! read more

This place is cute and clean! And the service is good ! The food is ok but not too impressive. The Fried tofu here had a regular tofu consistency ...it seemed breaded and deep fried. Usually... in Thailand...the tofu itself is deep fried making Tofu puffs which would be very crispy on the outside and soft & spongy and airy inside. Maybe they just didn't deep fry it enough or maybe it's just the style here. The Royal Crab Lagoon was crispy outside. Not much of the crab meat or cream cheese as I expected. The stuffing was a bit bland. Crab meat didn't have much of the freshness or crab flavor. Fried wonton itself was good. The main dish I had a very high expectation was the Sexy Sea-bass.($22). Fish was a bit dry. The sauce was good but it was pretty strong and sweet for me. The main issue here is there's a lot of it! Garlic eggplant was ok. This was on the salty side and thick on the sauce. Eggplant was cooked good..not too hard or too soft. Their brown rice was good! It was as like rice berry ...dark purple...good texture... not too hard or too soft. Service was good & polite! Food came out promptly! Overall, this is a decent but pricey Thai food option in Old Town Pasadena area. During this Covid time, many restaurants may have problems due to supply shortages, cost increasing, short of employees...etc. many thing could happen. I will be back to try more dishes. read more
