Chicken Pad See Ew
Helen L.

Came for lunch and tried their Pad see ew, Pad Thai, and curry (forgot which one). The Pad see ew and Pad Thai were soo good. The noodles were good to perfection - not too soft or undercooked and had a good chew to it and the flavors were on point. The curry was good, but the noodle dishes were the stars of the show. The restaurant is small so I don't recommend going with a big group. They have about 8-10 tables that can seat 2-4 people comfortably. Take out is also an option.

We ordered way too much food! And guess what?! It was a good thing! You want a Pearl of Wisdom... (right? See what I did there?) Get WAY too much because the next 2 days of eating the left overs the flavors work some kind of culinary magic to tantalize your palate. We had all the curries, green, red, yellow, masaman. After the original feast, the following days I added roasted red pepper, mushrooms, Japanese eggplant and zucchini and topped with fresh basil. I call these "cheater" meals as the base flavors are from something I didn't prepare, but takes ordinary ingredients takes them to another level. Seriously, my taste buds were levitating! So if you value a bargain and stretching you take out meals, this is a fantastic option to spend your weekly food budget and supplement with your veggies of choice!

While visiting Pasadena we decided to stop for some Thai Food. When we arrived I was surprised at how small the restaurant was. Once we were seated, the staff was so friendly and welcoming! We decided to order several plates to try! Everything was so delicious! The fried rice is the best I've ever had! The Thai Tea was fantastic! The entire experience was great! It's clean, friendly, warm and great quality! It's a must try if you're in the area! I highly recommended!

Thai Spicy Noodle

So small and cute place! Their food was so good! I had Thai Spicy Noodle, it was so delicious blended with spicy, flavor with crunchy toppings. Love it and I'm surprised that I finish all without bring home leftover! The waiter was very nice and consideration with our communication. Def will come back to try out more food! Parking is available on the street or garage structure.

Always ordered just takeout, the food is good and flavorful. I'll have to stop by for indoor dining one of these days! One of the better spots for Thai in Pasadena! I definitely recommend.

I ordered pad Thai and curry earlier this week as I was craving them and wanted to try a new Thai place. Everything looked good until eating them. The pad Thai had a very prominent red color that resembled ketchup and even tasted like ketchup..No prominent, authentic taste with sweet & salty balance, tamarind and such. As for the curry, it was a bit watery but not that bad. Both had me feeling very thirsty after do I assume a lot of msg was added. Overall, this is one of those places I'd try once then not return unless someone wanted to go. I don't usually give such reviews but wanted to be really honest.. You can go to smaller places and they'll give you more for your money but if this spot is the only one near or convenient for you, go for it! Stars mainly reflect taste

Pearl Thai Eatery which we found around the corner that is freshness meets flavor! This hidden gem is a spice-tacular spot with a 'we don't mess with freshness' policy then the sushi cross the street. They ditch the old stuff, no stretching it till it's, well, you know. Cozy vibes, kind staff, and decor that charms. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but worth it. The Thai spring rolls and pineapple curry? Yum! And that butterfly lemonade? A taste explosion! My girl and I definitely are coming back.

Sad overcooked wonton soup- not a SINGLE intact wonton, and didn't include shrimp per the menu description

I do like the seafood salads with the clear noodles. Our go-to for when we don't want to cook and can just do carry out.

The seafood soup was way too salty and was not enjoyable, I had to throw it away. I would like to request a refund.

We ordered the tom yum noodle soup, pork collar, papaya salad, shrimp ceviche, and the captain whatever curry. Unfortunately, the tom yum noodle soup and the curry were especially underwhelming. Both dishes lacked the bold, balanced flavors that define Thai cuisine--there was no real heat, tanginess, sweetness, or depth. When I go to a Thai or Thai-inspired restaurant, I expect vibrant, layered flavors, but what we received tasted muted and almost as if key ingredients were missing. It honestly made me wonder if there had been a mistake in the kitchen. The service didn't help improve the experience. Our server rarely checked in on us--no one asked if we needed napkins or refills, and empty or untouched plates were left sitting on the table far too long. When I brought up the issue with the lack of flavor, there was little acknowledgment and nothing was done to address the concern or make things right. Overall, the combination of bland food and inattentive service made for a frustrating dining experience. Side Note: It should've been obvious to me when I saw that there weren't any Asian patrons that this place would be a disappointment. Shame on this "Michelin-starred" chef.

Let me tell you, this place has beautiful selection of bone marrows. The bone marrow was fatty, buttery, and melts in your mouth with the sliced baguette. But the flavor profile worked and loved every minute of it. Park in the raymond parking structure nearby, easy parking.

I ordered takeout through an app and they forced me to pay gratuity through the app, as they lock the option to remove gratuity. Then when I went to pick it up to pay, there was additional gratuity on the check that was separate for what's in the app. And then the app had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to add additional gratuity. I reached out to the owner and he ignored my concern. During my interaction, the host was kind but could not do anything about it. She asked the manager who did not come out of the back to interact with me. I was told that I needed to pay both gratuities, in app and in store. So at the end, I ended up paying 30% tip. If I didn't have a family at home waiting for their meal, I would have just left. I will never return to this place, and I would not recommend that you go either. It's so easy to just pay and not pay attention to the itemized receipt. This place is a total scam.

We didn't question it and started eating. Midway through our meal, the manager came over and said it was actually a mistake - that the cucumbers were a paid item. He gave us two options: keep eating and get charged, or have it taken away and not be charged. At that point, we had already eaten about half. Of course, we declined the extra charge since we genuinely thought it came with our order. What happened next is what lost me as a customer. The manager took the dish and immediately dumped it in the trash right behind me, where I could hear it. It felt unnecessary and honestly a bit disrespectful. A better way to handle it would've been to acknowledge the mistake and just comp the dish this time. Instead, it turned into an awkward moment over what couldn't have been more than a few dollars' worth of cucumbers. Not a great experience, and not a place I'd return to based on how this was handled.

This time I went for lunch (they have great lunch specials) and the place was busy and buzzing. Note that here they put sautéed purple onions in their pad Thai. I'm used to onions on the dish being green onions. I happen to hate onions so it was a bummer, but I just picked them out and it was fine. Both times I got Thai iced tea, I'm lactose intolerant so can't usually have it. They have oat milk to substitute for the milk. I seem to recall back then it was more Thai fusion than it is now. But I have consumed a lot of beer, wine, cocktails in the interim so my brain could be foggy on that account. Nevertheless the food we ate was fantastic. I would love to get bottles of their sauces to cook with at home. The summer wraps are largely lettuce and Thai mint - I prefer having a bit more carrot and cuke in them, but I'm not the boss. The spinach peanut with tofu had epic spinach and tasty tofu. The Chinese broccoli in the Pad See Ew was nice and crisp. I guess there is parking in the lot in the back of the store. Seems to be marked for specific stores. I wonder, does the Spa really get that busy they need that many spots? I didn't see anything reserved for Daisy patrons. But I figured most of the other businesses were not open in the evening. Anyway we didn't get a ticket or towed off the lot.

I was surprised to read here on Yelp that the original famed chef left for a few years and recently returned, because I did not notice any major changes in the quality of the dishes I usually order. The current manager was my waiter this time, and he said that staffing has been a challenge; he himself also worked here, left , and returned. Colette offers a somewhat non-traditional, somewhat elevated menu, not as varied as other Chinese places, although they do offer dim sum and lunch specials. Note the menu on the website is old and kind of obsolete; the newer menu, which is laminated and has photos, is more extensive. The dish I always order is their fabulous chayote minced pork. I've also ordered their live lobster when I have a hankering. They have the lobsters and crabs in tanks on view, priced per pound. They can prepare it in several ways; I always choose stir-fried with ginger and scallions and add noodles. They also have some specialty dishes like winter melon soup that you must order in advance. I ordered 3 other dishes, only one for the first time. That was honey-glazed beef cubes. Slices of beef covered in sliced almonds on a bed of asparagus with an orange sauce that was similar to orange marmalade. Tasty and unique. The other 2 dishes that I've had before were the golden yolk luffa and the goo-loo pork (aka sweet and sour pork). Luffa is a gourd (like a cucumber) that is edible when young, but turns into the fibrous sponges we bathe with when mature. It's slighty bitter, here stir-fried with salted egg yolk. The pork was pretty traditional, slightly elevated with the addition of strawberries. For me, a reliable neighbourhood spot for Chinese. I hope they can keep it together.

The crab fried rice tasted good, but the flavor of the crab was not as prominent. The dumpling was solid, but certainly overpriced for five pieces.
